Or there are times where 00:02:20.259 --> 00:02:22.919 people would say that it's like how water can 00:02:22.919 --> 00:02:26.379 be ice and liquid and vapor and that they're 00:02:26.379 --> 00:02:29.520 all water. They just have these different ways 00:02:29.520 --> 00:02:33.460 of existing in the glass. And one that I'll use 00:02:33.460 --> 00:02:37.580 oftentimes is when we think about people and 00:02:37.580 --> 00:02:40.099 that you have the person themselves, who they 00:02:40.099 --> 00:02:43.180 are, you have the words that they speak, and 00:02:43.180 --> 00:02:45.819 you have the way that those words affect and 00:02:45.819 --> 00:02:49.159 shape the world around them. It's about who God is. I'm 00:03:54.280 --> 00:03:57.180 sure that none of us have ever known what it 00:03:57.180 --> 00:03:59.280 is to be in the middle of a heated exchange with 00:03:59.280 --> 00:04:02.000 other church people before, right? Never. We 00:04:02.000 --> 00:04:06.819 would never go through that. But Jesus is trying 00:04:06.819 --> 00:04:10.539 to tell them that he honors the Father and that 00:04:10.539 --> 00:04:14.620 he's doing the Father's will and he offers them 00:04:14.620 --> 00:04:19.649 eternal life. If anyone keeps my word, He will 00:04:19.649 --> 00:04:25.350 never see death. And how do they respond? Aren't 00:04:25.350 --> 00:04:29.250 we right in saying you're a Samaritan and demon 00:04:29.250 --> 00:04:33.009 possessed? He offers us eternal life. We know who Jesus is, so we're 00:05:05.339 --> 00:05:07.740 wondering why would they reject this? But you 00:05:07.740 --> 00:05:12.879 see, Jesus didn't match their expectations. He 00:05:12.879 --> 00:05:16.879 wasn't conquering Rome. He wasn't seizing power. 00:05:17.079 --> 00:05:21.360 He wasn't affirming their cultural pride. And they pick up 00:06:00.319 --> 00:06:07.639 stones to kill him. This would make sense for 00:06:07.639 --> 00:06:11.199 those who are not open to seeing God for who 00:06:11.199 --> 00:06:15.540 he really is. If your heart is not open to understanding 00:06:15.540 --> 00:06:19.680 that what Jesus is sharing is real, then it's 00:06:19.680 --> 00:06:23.240 going to be very offensive to everything that 00:06:23.240 --> 00:06:25.980 you may stand for. And this is what happens when 00:06:25.980 --> 00:06:31.000 we meet the true God, though. God's ways are 00:06:31.000 --> 00:06:37.019 not our ways. We don't easily follow Him. Without 00:06:37.019 --> 00:06:40.439 listening to God's Spirit, we don't recognize 00:06:40.439 --> 00:06:45.529 Him. Without trusting God's ways in Christ, we 00:06:45.529 --> 00:06:49.269 don't accept Him. Because the things of God are 00:06:49.269 --> 00:06:53.189 not naturally grasped by our logic, by our own 00:06:53.189 --> 00:06:59.490 power. It's not just this Trinity idea, but who 00:06:59.490 --> 00:07:04.110 God is and how He reveals Himself. We can only 00:07:04.110 --> 00:07:07.730 perceive it by His Spirit and faith, because 00:07:07.730 --> 00:07:12.639 they're only received by faith. if we're willing. 00:07:13.860 --> 00:07:17.480 But are we willing to look at God for who he 00:07:17.480 --> 00:07:21.459 is and not who we make him out to be? The disciples, they're 00:07:41.189 --> 00:07:44.449 proclaiming the gospel in every language, and 00:07:44.449 --> 00:07:47.350 some people are amazed, but other people mock 00:07:47.350 --> 00:07:51.629 them and say they must be drunk because they 00:07:51.629 --> 00:07:55.269 didn't understand them. So it's obviously their 00:07:55.269 --> 00:08:00.170 fault because the people didn't understand. And 00:08:00.170 --> 00:08:02.870 Peter stands there and says, no, what you're 00:08:02.870 --> 00:08:07.430 seeing and hearing is the fulfillment of God's 00:08:07.430 --> 00:08:10.620 plan. And he puts it back in context. He tells 00:08:10.620 --> 00:08:17.060 a story. So God the Father, he testified to everything 00:08:17.060 --> 00:08:20.180 that Jesus is with all the signs and the miracles 00:08:20.180 --> 00:08:23.639 that he did. I mean, we don't normally do a bunch 00:08:23.639 --> 00:08:26.800 of signs and miracles. The Father sent the 00:09:19.779 --> 00:09:25.100 Son. The Son sends the Spirit. All three must 00:09:25.100 --> 00:09:29.659 be God because they're working together. See, 00:09:29.679 --> 00:09:31.940 the Trinity is fully at work here. The Father 00:09:31.940 --> 00:09:35.620 plans and raises. The Son obeys and reigns. The 00:09:35.620 --> 00:09:39.720 Spirit is poured out and empowers. And all of 00:09:39.720 --> 00:09:43.059 this leads to what Peter concludes at the end 00:09:43.059 --> 00:09:48.000 of that. Let all Israel be assured of this. God 00:09:48.000 --> 00:09:52.539 has made this Jesus whom you crucified both Lord 00:09:52.539 --> 00:09:56.679 and Messiah. They knew that the Messiah would 00:09:56.679 --> 00:10:00.080 be the descendant of David. As much as the kids think that they 00:10:19.049 --> 00:10:22.049 know better than you, yeah, no.
