We get to the 00:00:12.599 --> 00:00:18.620 Bible, 2 Chronicles chapter number 30. And to 00:00:18.620 --> 00:00:22.079 try to get where we're at, we're at King Hezekiah. 00:00:22.780 --> 00:00:26.660 And we understand that before King Hezekiah became 00:00:26.660 --> 00:00:31.429 king, his dad, King Ahaz, had led the nation 00:00:31.429 --> 00:00:36.829 into sin, destruction. He had turned the doors 00:00:36.829 --> 00:00:40.670 or closed the doors of the temple. Worship had 00:00:40.670 --> 00:00:44.130 stopped. Idols began to be put up all over the 00:00:44.130 --> 00:00:48.450 land. And God's people had turned from righteousness 00:00:48.450 --> 00:00:52.630 and the God of the Bible to sin. And sin became 00:00:52.630 --> 00:00:57.390 prevalent. And imagine all of a sudden King Hezekiah 00:00:57.390 --> 00:00:59.640 becomes king. And we learned this in chapter 00:00:59.640 --> 00:01:03.479 number 29. He decides to one day to make a change. 00:01:03.579 --> 00:01:07.540 We're gonna turn back to God. And imagine he 00:01:07.540 --> 00:01:10.920 begins to be convicted. He begins to understand 00:01:10.920 --> 00:01:14.280 that I, as God's man, as the king of Israel, 00:01:14.519 --> 00:01:17.519 or the king of Judah, it's my job to lead this 00:01:17.519 --> 00:01:21.359 nation back to God. And he begins to gather around 00:01:21.359 --> 00:01:25.269 a few. Now, we need to open the temple. We need 00:01:25.269 --> 00:01:28.909 to bring back the elements or the different things 00:01:28.909 --> 00:01:32.590 inside the temple. We need to get ready for worship. 00:01:32.670 --> 00:01:35.790 We need to get ready to have the people come 00:01:35.790 --> 00:01:37.810 back to God. So they get the busy. They begin 00:01:37.810 --> 00:01:40.209 to set up the temple. They begin to get things 00:01:40.209 --> 00:01:43.230 ready. The Levites begin to get ready. And all 00:01:43.230 --> 00:01:46.230 of a sudden, there's an inner circle getting 00:01:46.230 --> 00:01:51.379 ready for, could you say, revival? Now here's 00:01:51.379 --> 00:01:53.780 the thing, before I say revival, they're getting 00:01:53.780 --> 00:01:57.060 ready for God to do something. They're getting 00:01:57.060 --> 00:02:01.640 ready for an impact to be made on the land. They're 00:02:01.640 --> 00:02:06.319 getting ready for a sinful people to come back 00:02:06.319 --> 00:02:11.280 to God. Now, it's faith. In other words, God 00:02:11.280 --> 00:02:14.039 didn't guarantee that people were going to come 00:02:14.039 --> 00:02:17.400 back to God, but all of a sudden, Hezekiah believes 00:02:17.400 --> 00:02:20.939 that God can. that if we begin to prepare, we 00:02:20.939 --> 00:02:23.659 begin to plant, we begin to water, we begin to 00:02:23.659 --> 00:02:26.719 sow the seeds of right, we begin to sow the seeds 00:02:26.719 --> 00:02:30.979 of the spiritual, there's hope for the people, 00:02:31.000 --> 00:02:33.960 not just in the southern kingdom of Judah, but 00:02:33.960 --> 00:02:37.039 there's actually hope for the people of the northern 00:02:37.039 --> 00:02:40.259 kingdom of Israel. And yet you understand, there 00:02:40.259 --> 00:02:42.219 had been a war with the northern kingdom of Israel. 00:02:42.560 --> 00:02:45.900 Hundreds of thousand people have died. and they 00:02:45.900 --> 00:02:48.740 live in a life of sin. It's normal, but understand 00:02:48.740 --> 00:02:52.180 he begins to prepare. Let's get the temple ready 00:02:52.180 --> 00:02:56.439 for revival. Let's get the priests ready for 00:02:56.439 --> 00:03:00.419 revival. Let's begin to prepare our nation for 00:03:00.419 --> 00:03:03.659 revival. And they begin to work behind the scenes 00:03:03.659 --> 00:03:08.319 preparing for that revival, okay? So let's do 00:03:08.319 --> 00:03:14.729 this. Stand for the reading of God's word. And 00:03:14.729 --> 00:03:17.210 we're gonna stand or stand to read verse number 00:03:17.210 --> 00:03:21.349 one together. And because at this particular 00:03:21.349 --> 00:03:26.430 time, the preparations have been made. The temple 00:03:26.430 --> 00:03:30.270 is ready. Overall, it's ready. They're about to go out into the 00:03:43.509 --> 00:03:46.870 community and say, now is the time. We need to 00:03:46.870 --> 00:03:50.550 have revival today. We're going to send 00:04:20.550 --> 00:04:24.750 people out to Israel, the northern kingdom, and 00:04:24.750 --> 00:04:30.389 Judah, and we're going to call them to come for 00:04:30.389 --> 00:04:33.649 revival. We're gonna call them to come to the 00:04:33.649 --> 00:04:36.649 house of the Lord. We're gonna call them to come 00:04:36.649 --> 00:04:40.870 to have the Passover feast under the Lord God 00:04:40.870 --> 00:04:43.449 of Israel. We're going to call them to revival. 00:04:43.730 --> 00:04:46.310 Now, this is part of the sermon, and it's the 00:04:46.310 --> 00:04:49.910 introduction. But imagine looking out. You've 00:04:49.910 --> 00:04:54.810 got to imagine how sinful the kingdom was. Judah 00:04:54.810 --> 00:04:59.410 was so far from God. Idolatry and wickedness 00:04:59.410 --> 00:05:02.670 and sinfulness was all around them. And the northern 00:05:02.670 --> 00:05:06.769 kingdom was even worse. And here, Hezekiah is 00:05:06.769 --> 00:05:09.050 saying, We're having a call to revival. We're 00:05:09.050 --> 00:05:11.129 going to send out people. We're going to write 00:05:11.129 --> 00:05:13.769 letters. And we're going to call them to have 00:05:13.769 --> 00:05:17.930 revival. Now, just that point, if we stop the 00:05:17.930 --> 00:05:21.310 message right there, I'm thinking, wow, that's 00:05:21.310 --> 00:05:25.889 a man of faith. That's a man who is just going 00:05:25.889 --> 00:05:28.350 to go out. He's going to plant water. And he's 00:05:28.350 --> 00:05:31.490 going to pray behind the scenes, God, please 00:05:31.490 --> 00:05:36.579 give an increase. It's a call to revival. a call 00:05:36.579 --> 00:05:41.920 for people to come back to God. I can't overemphasize 00:05:41.920 --> 00:05:43.860 this as we get into this. This chapter won't 00:05:43.860 --> 00:05:46.100 make any sense to you. This is a man of faith. 00:05:47.180 --> 00:05:51.100 If I was there, I would maybe be right there 00:05:51.100 --> 00:05:54.540 and say, King Hezekiah, don't mean to interrupt, 00:05:55.379 --> 00:05:58.399 but if you looked at how bad the people are, 00:05:59.920 --> 00:06:04.079 maybe King Hezekiah, we'll just talk to the people 00:06:04.079 --> 00:06:07.220 in Southern Kingdom. But I don't think we should 00:06:07.220 --> 00:06:09.660 expect anything from the Northern Kingdom of 00:06:09.660 --> 00:06:13.100 Israel. I think that maybe that may be dangerous. 00:06:13.379 --> 00:06:16.839 Maybe we ought to just focus in on a little bit 00:06:16.839 --> 00:06:20.399 of smaller circle here. But has this guy said, 00:06:20.480 --> 00:06:23.600 no, no, no, no. We're going to call Israel. And 00:06:23.600 --> 00:06:25.819 we're going to call Judah. Let's look at a perspective as a church 00:07:26.279 --> 00:07:29.860 reaching out into a sinful world that we live 00:07:29.860 --> 00:07:33.720 in with the hope that people will listen to that 00:07:33.720 --> 00:07:36.939 call to revival. In other words, part of the 00:07:36.939 --> 00:07:38.860 message is we have to have hope for the community 00:07:38.860 --> 00:07:41.959 we live in. We have to have hope for the neighbors 00:07:41.959 --> 00:07:45.120 around us. We have to have hope for the people 00:07:45.120 --> 00:07:47.860 we work with. We have to have hope that God can 00:07:47.860 --> 00:07:49.939 still work in the lives, and we have to have 00:07:49.939 --> 00:07:52.759 faith, like Hezekiah, to go into the world and 00:07:52.759 --> 00:07:54.300 call them to revival. We'd say amen to that. 00:07:55.360 --> 00:07:57.220 There's going to be a second application, and 00:07:57.220 --> 00:07:59.939 as we go through this chapter, the second application 00:07:59.939 --> 00:08:03.910 is God God calls us to have a relationship with 00:08:03.910 --> 00:08:08.149 us. God calls us to a revival. God calls us to 00:08:08.149 --> 00:08:10.949 come to him. God would call us to go down to 00:08:10.949 --> 00:08:13.449 Jerusalem to the Passover. And there's gonna 00:08:13.449 --> 00:08:16.350 be certain steps. And through this, I want you 00:08:16.350 --> 00:08:19.670 to think about now, how am I doing? How am I 00:08:19.670 --> 00:08:23.389 doing with that call to come to him? How am I 00:08:23.389 --> 00:08:25.610 doing with my relationship to God? It's not just good for me to live for God, 00:10:05.950 --> 00:10:09.549 it's good for everybody to live for God. So I 00:10:09.549 --> 00:10:12.870 know it's not the norm in the land that I live 00:10:12.870 --> 00:10:16.389 in, the land of Judah. I certainly know the Northern 00:10:16.389 --> 00:10:19.070 Kingdom of Israel, it's not the norm. Now, verse number 00:10:38.169 --> 00:10:41.389 five, if you will. And it's so important, if you wanna 00:14:01.240 --> 00:14:03.299 make a difference in your life, you wanna see 00:14:03.299 --> 00:14:05.659 God work in your life a great way, forget what 00:14:05.659 --> 00:14:09.179 people are doing or saying, look what is written 00:14:09.179 --> 00:14:13.980 in the word of God. Okay, we got that, we understand 00:14:13.980 --> 00:14:16.259 that, we're still there, and we go a little bit 00:14:16.259 --> 00:14:21.250 further and we get to verse number six.
