Welcome to the "What is Prophecy" series, readby Hector Garcia. In today's episode, STUDYING WISDOM, PART A. We find that a man searches for truth. But cannot understand what he reads. Not because it is hidden. But because his heart is not ready. This episode reveals why prophecy is clear to some. And closed to others. And how humility unlocks the light heaven is ready to give. Let us answer the question. How do our attitude and our choices affect our ability to discern the meaning of the prophecies? In Daniel 12:10, it reads Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. In 2 Timothy 3:1–8, it says This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers. Disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy. Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers. Incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good. Traitors, heady, highminded. Lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. From such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses. and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts. Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth; men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. In Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers, page 108, we read. “The spirit in which you come to the investigation of the Scriptures will determine the character of the assistant at your side. Angels from the world of light will be with those who in humility of heart seek for divine guidance. But if the Bible is opened with irreverence, with a feeling of self-sufficiency, if the heart is filled with prejudice, Satan is beside you, and he will set the plain statements of God’s word in a perverted light.” In Prophets and Kings, p. 547, it says. “Satan has led many to believe that the prophetic portions of the writings of Daniel and of John the revelator cannot be understood. But the promise is plain that special blessing will accompany the study of these prophecies.” Here is what it means to me. There was a man. A sincere man. A searching man. He opened the pages of Scripture. He read the prophecies. He studied the symbols. But something was missing. The words were clear. Yet the meaning escaped him. He tried harder. Read longer. Thought deeper. Still, nothing. Now listen carefully. Because this is not a story about intelligence. It is a story about the heart. The Bible says. “Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.” Did you hear that? Not the educated. Not the experienced. But the wise. And wisdom. Does not begin in the mind. It begins in surrender. Now here is the part few people see. There is an unseen influence. Working quietly. Carefully. Convincing many. That prophecy cannot be understood. Because if they believed it could, they would search. And if they searched, they would see. And if they saw, they would be changed. The Bible says “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place.” A light. Not confusion. Not mystery. Light. So why do so many remain in darkness? Because the greatest barrier. Is not the complexity of Scripture. It is the condition of the heart. Pride says. I already understand. Humility says. Teach me. And heaven responds. Because the promise is clear. “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” Did you catch that? It shall be given. Not earned. Not discovered alone. Given. Now here is where the story deepens. Because God does not only give understanding. He protects the mind that receives it. “The Lord preserveth all them that love him.” Think about that. Protection. Not just from danger. But from deception. Because there is another influence. Subtle. Persistent. Working to distort truth. To replace Scripture with opinion. To replace humility with confidence. And slowly. Quietly. To close the mind. But the one who kneels. The one who asks. The one who surrenders. Finds something different. Clarity. Direction. Peace. Because “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Now here is the turning point. Because truth was never meant to stay with one person. It was meant to be shared. To be spoken. To be lived. Because light grows brighter. When it is given away. And yet. There will always be resistance. Voices that oppose. Voices that question. Voices that reject. The Bible says. “As Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth.” Resistance. Not because truth is weak. But because truth exposes. And not everyone wants to see. So we return. To the beginning. A man searching. A man reading. A man trying to understand. And now. He pauses. He kneels. He prays. And something changes. Not the words. But him. And suddenly. What was hidden. Becomes clear. What was confusing. Makes sense. What was distant. Becomes real. Because the promise was always true. “The wise shall understand.” And now you know. The truth the Spirit has made known. If you have a prayer request, please go to w.w.w.faithfundamentals.blog.
