Welcome to the "What Is Prophecy" series. Read by Hector Garcia. In today's episode, *Line Upon Line, Part A*, we find that: We must search for truth, slowly, carefully, line upon line. As Scripture begins to explain itself, a hidden pattern emerges, revealing a perfect system designed by God. What truth will we uncover that changes everything? Let us answer the question: How does God impart His word, and how should we study it? In Isaiah 28:9–10, it reads: "Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little." In *Testimonies for the Church*, vol. 8, p. 157, it says: “The evidence of the truth of God’s word is in the word itself. Scripture is the key that unlocks Scripture. The deep meaning of the truths of God’s word is unfolded to our minds by His Spirit.” “No one with a spirit to appreciate its teaching can read a single passage from the Bible without gaining from it some helpful thought. But the most valuable teaching of the Bible is not to be gained by occasional or disconnected study. Its great system of truth is not so presented as to be discerned by the hasty or careless reader. Many of its treasures lie far beneath the surface and can be obtained only by diligent research and continuous effort. The truths that make up the great whole must be searched out and gathered up, ‘here a little, and there a little.’ Isaiah 28:10.” In *Education*, pages 123 to 124, we read: “When thus searched out and brought together, they will be found to be perfectly fitted to one another. Each Gospel is a supplement to the others, every prophecy an explanation of another, every truth a development of some other truth. The types of the Jewish economy are made plain by the gospel. Every principle in the word of God has its place, every fact its bearing. And the complete structure, in design and execution, bears testimony to its Author. Such a structure no mind but that of the Infinite could conceive or fashion.” This is what the concept "Line Upon Line" means to me: There was a man, unknown, unnoticed, uncelebrated. But he possessed something rare, a willingness to search. Not for answers that pleased him, but for truth that would change him. He opened the Word, and he did not skim. He stayed, line upon line, precept upon precept. He read slowly, carefully, thoughtfully. And at first, it seemed simple. But then, it deepened. Verses began to echo one another, prophecies began to unfold, patterns began to appear. What once seemed scattered was now connected. What once seemed distant was now unified. And he realized, this was no ordinary book. This was a system, a design, a structure so precise, so complete, that no human mind could have created it. Let's pause here to reflect: Because many read, but few search. Many glance, but few dig. This man dug, like a miner breaking through stone, seeking something hidden. And he found it, not gold, but truth. Living truth, the kind that speaks, the kind that convicts, the kind that transforms. And as he searched, he discovered something else: The Bible was not just informing him. It was correcting him, shaping him, guiding him. The Word was alive. And it responded to effort, to humility, to faith. Now listen carefully: Because this is where many turn away. They want quick answers, easy truths, simple conclusions. But this man wanted something more. He wanted understanding. And so he stayed. He compared Scripture with Scripture, he tested everything. And every time, the same result: Truth aligned perfectly. Now the question: Who was this man? Was he a teacher? No. Was he a leader? No. Was he a prophet? No. He was a student, a faithful student. One who believed that God reveals truth to those who seek Him with patience, with humility, with persistence. And that is the lesson. Truth is not hidden, but it is reserved for those willing to search. And now you know, the truth the Spirit has made known.
