0:00 Gar is one of those characters who has become one of my all-time favorites. I 0:05 love his story arc, how he stands opposite Naruto as the very thing Naruto 0:10 would have been if he had merely made a single choice. That choice being to stop 0:15 believing. However, after Konoha Crush and the subsequent search for Sasuke, 0:20 Gar as a person had pulled a whole 180. Gar seemed to finally value life, and 0:27 that amazed me. He eventually became the fifth Kazak. But sometimes I wonder 0:32 about how he became what he is now. How did Gar just so easily flip from 0:38 homicide to Woodstock? How did he go from seeing Red to seeing tie-dye and peace signs? And how does a village that 0:44 hated, feared, and mistrusted him, tried to have him assassinated on multiple occasions, particularly using his own 0:51 beloved uncle, suddenly turn into a love fest? Something isn't adding up here. 0:57 So, let's check it out. Welcome to the Amagi. Only 25% of our viewers are 1:02 subscribed. Gar stood outside of the chambered doors. 1:13 The decision was to be made. Of course, Gar didn't think it would happen. I'm 1:18 sure they'll make it happen, Conoro said. If they know what's good for them, they will, Tamari tacked on. Gar sat 1:24 there silently. I don't see it happening, he said. Why would they choose me? They never wanted anything to 1:30 do with me before. And frankly, I wouldn't choose me. I haven't had the best track record for stability. You're 1:37 a member of the Kazak's clan. You are the child of the fourth Kazak, who was in turn the son of the third Kazak. It's 1:44 a dynasty. Tradition can't be broken. Tradition dictates anyone with the ability to utilize magnet release will 1:50 be the Kazak. There are many who fulfill that criteria, both legitimate and illegitimate. The past Kazak have had 1:58 many a child that went unrecognized by the council. I'm sure all they need to do is find one, and that will be their 2:04 preferred Kag. The only way I'll become Kazak is if they find no other user of magnet release. And even then, that's 2:11 only if the old codgers decide that tradition trumps their fear. After he said that, it got quiet. Tamari and 2:17 Concordo both stood silently, but Gar could see them looking at him with the peripheral of their eyes, their pupils 2:24 in the corners of their sockets. In truth, they themselves were as afraid of 2:29 Gar as the council was. And why shouldn't they be? Gar hadn't been the most mentally sound person through his 2:35 life. Having been raised from his youth as a genturi, Gar wasn't a very strong 2:40 person. His heart, his mind, his body, all of them were weak compared to the 2:45 other shinobi. Even Tamari and Konkuro had been stronger than Gar. All things considered, it was due to this 2:51 disparaging difference many attempts on Gar's life were made. His father, Rosa, wasn't a very kind man, and he was all 2:59 business. The only reason why Gar, Konuro, and Tamari existed was because of the need to prove that his interests 3:06 in the village went farther than anything else. To be honest, the reason why Gar's mother, Kura, was dead was 3:12 because of Rasa as well. Rasa could, would, and had sacrificed everything for 3:18 his village. In some strange way, Gar respected that. But what he could never respect was how easy it was for Rasa to 3:26 do those things. Rasa wanted a monster of a genturi. And when he finally broke, 3:31 when Gar fin finally snapped, he gave Rasa exactly what he wanted. in some 3:36 way. At its beginning, that was the first time he had ever seen Rasa smile at him with pride. At that point, 3:43 though, Gar no longer craved validation, only humorous irony of Rasa getting what 3:48 he asked for and being upset. And obviously, that smile faded quickly. As the bodies began to drop, it was clear 3:55 that Gar was more than Rasa had expected. Gar was out of sorts mentally and physically. the torture on the 4:02 outside from his father and the council and then the torture on the inside due to Shukaku. Gar wasn't afraid to say he 4:09 had lost his mind because he truly had and wouldn't you as well. To always look 4:14 over your shoulder night and day for assassins to train to become something you didn't want to be. To always have 4:21 the fear of death in the back of your mind spending the time when your siblings were asleep just to stay awake. 4:27 Shukaku had made it clear that the moment Gar fell asleep, he would take over and kill everyone. And this wasn't 4:34 a lie. On the rare few occasions he had fallen asleep, Shukaku had gotten out. 4:39 Gar's entire lifestyle was nothing but unhealthy to the point he had to learn how to rest certain parts of his brain 4:46 on and off during the day, which left him staring at walls like a psychopath. And it's funny that people should think 4:52 that about him because all of these things together had broken Gar and turned him into a psychopath just as 4:59 they had thought. It was only when the young man Naruto, a boy who understood the pain Gar was going through, made 5:06 himself known and pulled Gar back down to the ground that Gar caught himself. Looking back on those years he had spent 5:12 in this unhealthy mindset, Gar knew he was wrong. He was filled with shame for 5:17 how frivolously he had treated life, how easily he had killed for no reason. All of these things together had made Gar 5:24 understand why people should now hate him, most of all his siblings. How often had Gar threatened to kill them for 5:30 disobeying him, and he would have done it, too. It wasn't an empty threat, and everyone knew it. Gar included. It 5:37 turned his stomach to think of these things. And even now these days, as they asked him if it was okay to sleep still, 5:44 he would sit up all night and think about it as he rested parts of his brain separately in hopes of getting rest 5:49 without letting the beast out. Gar wanted to cry. The boy he killed in himself a long time ago cropped up again 5:57 to prove he was still alive, even if barely. And there, Gar cradled that boy 6:02 in his arms, looking down at his own innocence, still barely breathing within him, yet breathing still. a promise, a 6:09 hope. A hope that Gar didn't have to always be the bad guy. That Gar could do 6:15 good for the sake of love. Not of a self-loving monster, but an allloving 6:20 monster. If Gar must be a monster in everyone's eyes, including his own, then he might as well be a monster for good. 6:27 A monster of God. Hell Singh references Going Hard, I guess. But if Gar wasn't 6:32 to become the next Kazak, then who would? That's the question. All Gar could do was hope that whoever it was 6:39 wouldn't be worse than Rasa. Rosa's death was needless and foolish. Rasa had 6:44 wanted to do good by his village, even if that meant starting a war. But in the end, he kissed a snake, and there were 6:51 no number of doctors that could save him. All of these thoughts entered Gar's mind as a part of his brain attempted to 6:56 get some quick downtime. But just as soon as that part of his brain closed down, the door opened. The council has 7:03 made their decision. Please enter. He turned toward the door and led his siblings inside. Therein he found the 7:09 council. So many he had dreamed of killing one day and likely that feeling had been mutual. But at this moment all 7:16 of those feelings were set aside for the good of the village. We the council, sovereign leaders, aids and overseers of 7:23 the Kazak have made the decision that the one to replace Rosa will in fact be 7:29 his youngest son, Gar. Gar was a little shocked by the decision. He only offered 7:34 a nod of understanding before being dismissed. And that was the end of it. The council had nothing else to say, and 7:40 they wanted to hear nothing from Gar. Gar knew he would be on a tight leash, as the council would be willing to set 7:47 aside their fears for tradition, but would not set the village aside for it. And so Gar's first week as Kazak was 7:54 filled with sparse tutorial, mostly by a counselor's aid, who despite the heavy fear of Gar would appeared to him white 8:01 as a ghost to deliver instructions. Gar knew the man was afraid and could not blame him. But Gar was different now. He 8:08 would not hurt the man, though the man obviously didn't believe as much. And as the last day came and the final bit of 8:14 instruction was given out, the man almost seemed to be running from the office. Gar watched him skip down the 8:20 road as if the most dangerous part of his life was now over. Gar was happy that he was happy, but a part of him 8:27 struggled with how the people treated him. The fear this man displayed. It upset him deeply. But with what he had 8:34 been, what he knew he could still be, he couldn't blame them for the distrust. Before, they had no real reason to 8:40 distrust him. And because of that, he grew angry. And now they did have a reason. But that was okay. Gar was going 8:48 to be someone he could be proud of starting now. And if people began to trust him again because of it, then that 8:53 was all he needed. And so Gar began to work, trying his best to set up the best 8:59 relations he could for the village in hopes of steering it toward a more honest and kind future like that boy in 9:05 Konoha wanted. Gar was going to get the chance to make good on that kind of dream. And so he wanted to help. For 9:12 months, he worked this way. As the year turned, Gar's policies had yet to see any change. There was just so much 9:19 damage that they would need to become a bit more proactive with their villages standing. But the issue at this time was 9:24 that nothing had been happening in the village. The economy was tanking even further than it had during the time of 9:31 Rasa's reign, and people hated it. They blamed Gar for their misfortunes, as though he were doing this on purpose. 9:37 They acted as though Sauron himself had turned their land of wind into New Mordor. They acted as though they were 9:44 under the control of some dark lord. But all it really was was Gar. But then again, Gar might understand why they 9:51 thought of him like that. As Gar was dealing with this, a man wandered into town. A man from the farthest desert 9:57 settlements, a man of deep black hair and stark silver eyes. In every way, he 10:02 was the spitting image of the third Kazak, though a bit younger in appearance. He slowly began to cry out 10:09 his name as Jishaku, the true heir to the third Kazak. He claimed that his 10:14 father was the firstborn son of the third Kazak, born out of wedlock before 10:19 even Rasa was born, and that the throne belonged to him. He listed the name of his father's mother, and it was one that 10:26 the council verified had been among the mistresses of the third. The people of the village felt truly blessed as if 10:33 some hero had come to liberate them from the evils of their current leader. Word made it to Gar. Konuro and Tamari would 10:40 enter his office to tell him. Lord Fifth, the man Jishaku, has begun to inform the public that he's the 10:45 illegitimate heir of the third Kazak and Gar questioned. This left Tamari and 10:50 Konko stunned. And the council recognizes him as such. This is an issue for you. Do you know what they can do to 10:56 you? Gar nods. I know. Then why aren't you at least concerned? Gar shook his 11:02 head. I'm just not. What's the worst they can do? Rise up and kill me? Yes, 11:07 that is the worst they can do. And they will do it if you don't do something. What do you wish for me to do, Tamari? 11:14 He asked. You wish for me to kill him? Preferably, yes. I've heard this man speak. He has some rather extreme 11:20 political beliefs. The kind that will see him starting a new Shinobi World War. He can't be allowed to take power. 11:25 I'm not like that anymore, Tamari. Gar said, "I don't kill." Tamari shook her head in disgust and anger. You think 11:33 you're not? People don't just change, Gar. You are what you are. Don't be weak. Give the command to me now. I'll 11:40 go kill him myself. Me and Conquo both will go do it to protect you. I won't. 11:45 Garcodo shouted. This isn't just about you anymore. The village will be destroyed. We'll all be killed. And you 11:51 can stop it by simply saying one word. I'm not like that anymore. Concuro. Tamari scoffed in disgust. "Maybe the 11:58 village did make a bad choice for who to be Kazak," she said. "Let's get out of here." The two of them left, leaving Gar 12:04 alone. Jishaku slept in his bed. As he looked up at the ceiling, he thought of how the council so openly accepted him. 12:10 Their doubt of Gar had made his chance of becoming Kazak something close to 100%. And now all that was left was to 12:18 wait for the hammer to drop. For Gar to be ousted by force and for the official 12:23 installation of himself. As he laid there thinking about his future, a voice spoke up. You shouldn't have come here. 12:30 He turned his head toward the corner of the room where Tamari stood in shadow. Opposite of her was Konuro, his puppets 12:37 already out and ready to go. Says who? Jishaku asked as he sat up. Says you. I 12:43 am the legitimate heir to this seat, to this title. I've come to claim what's mine and do what's best for this 12:49 village. And some girl with a fan and a grown man who plays with dolls won't stand in my way. Tamari opened her fan 12:55 as Konkuro drew closer. This man's dolls are about to kick your ass, he said. Jishaku jumped from bed and landed 13:02 between them. Black circles forming around his eyes as suddenly from a nearby vessel, a dark colored dust came 13:08 out. He began to swirl it around in the air. Tamari attempted to use her fan and wind to blow the dust away, but it only 13:15 worked for a second before the dust filled in the vacuum again. Konko sees this and speaks. Well, he definitely has 13:21 magnet release. That means he's likely connected to the Kazak clan. I don't give a damn about that, Concodo. Just 13:27 kill him. Kodo launches his puppets in, but the dust in the air forms bolts and pushes the puppets against the wall. The 13:33 dust storm picks up, and as it does, Tamari begins to grab her head. Ah, Tamari, Concuro calls out. She stumbles 13:40 a bit against the wall before falling to her knees and violently vomiting onto the floor. Konkuro wishes to help her, 13:45 but he too is faced with similar symptoms. He fell to the ground, head banging, his stomach cramping 13:51 horrendously. His mind fogged up and suddenly he felt that his movements were slowing down. Jishaku raised them into 13:58 the air with this silvery blue metallic dust and tossed them out the window. Jumping out with them, he spoke. Gar's 14:04 time in this village is up. It's time he and everyone else understands that. What did you do to us? Konkuro asked. A 14:11 little something I feel you deserve. At this point, I doubt your mind will be able to comprehend it much longer. So, I 14:18 don't think I'll waste the breath to tell you. Just know this could have been avoided if you would have just had your 14:23 brother give up the title of Kazak and go. But now you're all going to die. As 14:29 the night wore on, the day was beginning to show and Gar was up watching it. There was a group of people outside. 14:36 They were rioting against him. How dare you attack your political opponent like that? One of the voices demanded. As 14:42 Kono and Tamari were brought in, they were pale in color, hardly conscious, and slowly getting weaker. Gar was 14:49 disappointed in them. As he drew closer, he asked, "Why are they so sick-l lookinging? Are they poisoned? We don't 14:55 know. They mentioned being exposed to Gishaku's magnet release, but they never explained anything else." As Gar looked 15:01 them over, he spread open their lips to examine their gums and discovered a blue line upon them. What is it? One of the 15:08 guards asked. Jishaku uses magnet release to control lead. Lead? The soldier asked. Gar nodded. Konado and 15:15 Tamari are suffering from severe lead poisoning. I need to get it out of them. We can't buy you much more time, the 15:21 guard said. The Suna Council is convening as we speak to decide whether you should or shouldn't be Kazak 15:27 anymore. If they vote against you, we'll have to arrest you. Until that time though, we'll guard you with our lives. 15:32 Remember that there's a secret way out. Gar nodded. You have my thanks. The guard left. As he did, Gar drew close to 15:39 Concodo and Tamari and placed his hands upon them. With his magnet release, he began to scour their bodies for traces 15:45 of lead still in their systems and began to slowly force it out of the bloodstream, out of their gut, lungs, 15:51 and various other organs. He was carefully cleaning out everything. Having pulled the lead out of them and 15:57 disposing of it, he let them rest for a while to heal, all while he kept an eye on the riots. The guards were keeping 16:03 control of the people. As they did so though, Gar noticed that one of them lifted a radio. He knew what that meant. 16:10 The council had made a decision, and that meant that Gar was likely out. So, 16:15 he went to Tamari and Conoro, woke them up, and helped them get to their feet. Together, the three sand siblings made 16:21 their way through the building, avoiding guards as best they could. The ones they couldn't avoid, Gar would plaster to the 16:27 wall with sand. Making their way to the hidden exit, Gar caused the entrance to collapse behind them. That would buy 16:33 them time. making their way through the tunnels and the endless labyrinthine twists and turns which led to either 16:39 dead ends or random exits. Only Gar knew where he was truly going as even the 16:44 guards were not allowed to know how this tunnel worked, ensuring that it could never be used without the Kazak or one 16:50 of the people permitted to access it. And now Gar was using it to escape. They eventually came out the other end into 16:57 the desert. Tamari and Konko were still groggy, but they seemed to be finally getting back to their full strength. Gar 17:03 would give them the lion's share of the water, not only to help them survive, but also to encourage the lead he was 17:09 unable to get out of their systems to fully digest. For that purpose, he gave them each a charcoal capsule. What had 17:16 already entered their intestines could not so easily be pulled back out without causing potentially fatal levels of 17:22 E.coli by pulling something from the lower gut back up and out through their esophagus. For that purpose, the primary 17:28 objective there was to bind the lead and get it to flush out of their system naturally without spreading. Now they 17:34 were on the run from their own village. Where could they go? Without being the Kazak, the chances that he'd be treated 17:41 as a criminal by going to any other village was high. Iwa wouldn't be interested in taking him due to being 17:47 friends with Suna and would not be willing to risk that relationship for the former Kazak. and Konoha would 17:53 probably just arrest him on the spot for his hand in the attack that happened during the tuning exams. At current, Gar 18:00 and his siblings were men and women without a nation. So, where were they to go? Where could they go where they'd be 18:06 safe? Where nobody would find them? There was a knock at the door. A tired Naruto opened up. "Hello, can we stay 18:14 with you?" Tamari asked. "Uh, for the next few days, they rested and stayed with Jeriah." The old man wasn't pleased 18:21 about it. But Naruto wouldn't let him kick them out. Not now that they had nowhere to go. And now, as Gar stuck 18:27 close to them, Naruto had the chance to talk with the friend he hadn't seen in over a year. "How are things going for 18:32 you, Gar?" he asked. Gar sat there looking out over the forests and darkness, the night hanging over them. 18:39 This was the perfect time to sleep, something Gar could never truly do. And for that purpose, neither was Naruto. He 18:45 could not sleep when Gar couldn't. Sometimes Gar wondered if it were truly because of kindness or because maybe he 18:52 didn't trust Gar. No, he quelled such thoughts. The people of his village may be like that, but not Naruto. Naruto was 19:00 the one who, despite being his enemy, cried for him. He understood Gar better than most, perhaps even better than Gar 19:07 himself. And due to that, he would not disrespect Naruto by thinking that way. As Naruto sat there, his question 19:14 lingered in the air. Gar would answer it. Not well. My people selected me to 19:19 be their kag, and I tried my best, but I couldn't outrun my reputation. Maybe I 19:24 got what I deserved. What? Did you do something wrong to your people? Gar looked over. Yeah, I was kind of a 19:30 psychopathic killer before I met you. I've tried to change, but I can't outrun myself. I get what I deserve. That guy 19:37 rose up. The village voted me out, and now there's nothing I can do. Tamari and Konko said the only way to stop this guy 19:44 from bringing the next world war was to kill him. But I wouldn't give the order. I couldn't be that again. And now I am 19:51 where I am, barely escaping with my life. Naruto began to rub his face. Oh 19:57 boy. Gar looked on curiously. What is it? Naruto looked over with a goofy grin 20:02 and then began to laugh. He smiled a bit to hear Naruto's laugh before confusion pulled his expression back down to 20:09 stoicism. No, seriously, I don't get it. Naruto looked at Gar bearing a large 20:14 smile and spoke. Listen, friend. You're caught in a strange transitionary stage called guilt. All this talk about 20:21 getting what you deserve and not fighting back. You mean you think I should have killed him? Naruto sat there 20:26 and thought. Not if you could help it. No. I don't believe anyone should kill unless it's a last resort. Then what do 20:33 you mean? Gar asked. Well, it's rather simple. This guy's policies, according to what Tamari said, could lead to a 20:39 fourth shinobi world war, right? But you weren't willing to fight against him. You know, if a war breaks out, more than 20:45 just one or two people will die, right? Gar was quiet for a moment before nodding. Yeah. Naruto looked down and 20:51 took a deep breath. Gar, you've not forgiven yourself yet. Listen, I know 20:56 you hate what you did. That much is obvious, but you haven't truly let go of who you were. What you were scares you, 21:03 and because of that, you're willing to just let yourself die. I'm going to tell you, I truly believe that you let them 21:10 do that to you. I'm not saying you should have killed him like Konkaro and Tamari, but how many times have you 21:15 actually addressed your people over this stuff? Have you even once addressed your people since becoming Kazak? Gar shook 21:21 his head. The reason you're not Kazak anymore isn't because this Jishaku guy is better than you. It's because you 21:27 wanted him to defeat you. You wanted to be exiled, to be kicked out of the village, to be punished. You can't get 21:33 over the fact that you've made mistakes and have been forgiven. You can't forgive yourself. The village didn't 21:38 forgive me, Gar said. Because you never asked for it. You never tried for it. You never wanted it. You just said they 21:45 never would and gave up. Your issue here isn't some guy who may or may not be a distant cousin. Your issue is that you 21:51 can't forgive what you've done and are too scared to do anything for fear you might become it again. I was a killer 21:57 once, and I might become one again. We're all killers, Gar. At our heart, that's what it means to be human, is to 22:04 be a killer, a destroyer, a sinner. I could be a killer. You could become one. 22:09 Anyone can. Every shinobi generally does. You can't be afraid of yourself. After all, those who are afraid of 22:15 themselves are those who believe they've already lost. And those who no longer believe eventually become the very thing 22:21 they wish to destroy. But what about my limits? Are you asking me not to stay away from things that draw me that way? 22:27 No, I'm not saying that, Naruto said. But what I am saying is that you shouldn't let fear of what you may 22:32 become hold you back from being what you are now. That fellow didn't kick you out of the village, you kicked yourself out. 22:39 You ran away from yourself, Gar. And that's not good. I don't judge, of course, because with the kind of life 22:44 we've both lived, not running away is a hard thing to do. But if you truly want to do right by your people, then the 22:49 last thing you need to do is let them go. You've still got a job to do, and you should do it, Naruto said. Gar 22:55 thought about it. How am I supposed to do this? How do I even take the seat back? Gar asked. Naruto looked deep into 23:02 Gar's eyes. You're the Kazak, Gar. You already know how. All you have to do now 23:08 is do it. Gar knew that Naruto was right. And so, as the morning came, Gar 23:13 decided to go back. He told Naruto to keep Concuro and Tamari there, telling them he only went out to do some 23:19 thinking. Gar knew that if Naruto told them the truth, they would come running and get themselves killed. No, this was 23:26 something Gar needed to do himself. He wasn't just facing down a man who could end the world. He was facing down 23:33 himself, the killer he used to be and the killer that Jishaku was going to become. Gar would enter the village 23:40 again. The wind blowing behind him. The people began to whisper amongst themselves, questioning if the unknown 23:46 person entering their village could really be Gar. Not long after, the Shinobi began to approach Gar and he 23:52 spoke. I would like to issue my rights of Sento Noru Shiran. The shinobi, still 23:58 holding their weapons, would look to each other for a moment and then back to Gar. I invoke section 19 before all here 24:04 who witness it, he shouted as loud as he could. The passers by overheard it all as witness, as did the shinobi 24:11 themselves. The shinobi nodded. Then you also acquiesed to section 18. Gar 24:16 nodded. Section 19 was the right for a disenfranchised Kag to submit his right 24:21 of trial by combat without the approval of the council. And section 18 was a protection not only for the kag but all 24:28 other parties indicating that no blood could be spilt before or after for a set 24:33 amount of time lest the right to the trial be counted as null and void. Gar had acknowledged this and approved and 24:41 currently was moving to the council chambers to officially challenge Chishaku right then and there. Led there 24:47 by the shinobi, they opened the doors in the midst of a meeting and allowed him in. What is the meaning of this? They 24:52 demanded. One of the shinobi then spoke. Forgive us. Lord Gar has invoked sections 18 and 19 upon Lord Jishaku for 25:00 the role of Kag. This is preposterous. The council spoke. Gar then spoke himself. The role of Kage traditionally 25:07 is given only to the strongest Shinobi. This is the first tradition. The secondary is that it should be given to 25:13 a user of magnet release. I fit both criteria as does Jishaku. I officially 25:19 challenge him here and now to trial by combat for the seat of Kazak. Jishaku rose to his feet with an overconfident 25:26 smirk. I accept. They were led to a location where they could be watched. A 25:31 place away from the main structures of the village so no lasting damage would be done. Gar spoke. For the purpose of 25:38 this battle, so that my own honor not be smudged, I will not be using any of the powers bestowed upon me by the sand 25:44 demon Shukaku. Even if you did, I'm confident that I could beat you. Chishaku spoke. One of the shinobi 25:51 spoke. The battle will continue until either party yields or perishes. He then swipes his hand in a downward arc to 25:57 announce the battle's beginning. Gar would stand there, a wide stance. His arms crossed as his gourd, now filled 26:04 with his father's signature gold dust, began to spill out with his magnet release. In return, Chishaku's lead dust 26:11 pushed against Gar's dust hard. However, Gar's gold dust began to press back against Jishaku's, pressing it down. 26:17 Jishaku would then let another shot off, forming it into a spike, shooting it at Gar's face. A pillar would form from 26:24 Gar's side and knock its trajectory off. "I'm disappointed in you, Kazak," Gar 26:30 said with sarcasm on his tongue. "I assumed you would be stronger." Jishaku's growl turned into a smile and 26:36 a chuckle as he summoned back the spike that Gar had pushed away. It began to swirl around Gar's head in a dense cloud 26:43 in an attempt to give him lead poisoning. Instead, Gar caused his gold dust to strike Chishaku from the side, 26:50 knocking him down. As the lead fell from Gar's face, he drew closer to Chishaku. 26:55 How did you avoid the poisoning? You're using magnet release against another magnet release user. You thought that 27:01 you would poison me? That only works on one without magnet release. I can breathe just fine and keep the dust out 27:07 of my lungs easily by creating an intense magnetic field around my nose and mouth. In anger, Jishaku attempted 27:14 to send another wave of lead dusted Garly for Gar to send a wave of gold at Jishaku. Wrapping up both him and his 27:22 lead in a thick ball of gold, raising him up into the air, Gar began to slowly 27:27 clench his fist, causing the gold to grow tighter. "You cheated. You said you wouldn't use your tailed beast," 27:33 Shishaku said. I didn't. Then how did you so easily push back my lead? Gishaku 27:38 asked. Gar scoffed. Simple. Gold is denser than lead. In greater volumes, 27:44 the weight overpowers that of lead. Lead dust's only saving grace is that it's toxic and can be used to quickly poison 27:50 an opponent. In most cases, that's all that matters. But it's a stupid choice against one who is also a magnet release 27:57 user, as there are far denser metals you have access to that could have done the trick. If you had chosen to use some of 28:03 my father's gold dust as I had, this might have turned out very differently. Even Shukaku can't stand against the 28:09 gold dust in vast quantities. This is why I'm ashamed of you calling yourself Kazak. You don't even know this, and 28:16 you're supposed to be older than me even. Gar slowly increased the pressure. Yield, he commanded. There was nothing 28:23 Jishaku could do. With no other option, he blurted the words out. I yield. Gar 28:29 slowly released the pressure and lowered Gishaku to the ground. Now get out of my sight. Gar turned to leave. Jishaku, 28:36 enraged and embarrassed, used his lead to form a spike and fired it at Gar. Gar 28:42 defended himself with sand using Shukaku's powers. Gar turned back to look at Chishaku. You would dare to 28:48 break the honor of our duel by striking after having declared defeat dishonorable. I could sit here and 28:54 demand from you Sepaku as per section 20 lest I kill you myself, find your family 29:00 and kill them as well, Gar said, bringing fear to Jishaku's eyes. But Gar's eyes lightened. I will not do so, 29:07 he said, letting Jishaku's face relax in relief. However, Gar said, you will be 29:13 banished from Sunagakaday forever. You are never to return here. Failure to 29:18 leave by sunrise tomorrow will result in your execution. Do I make myself clear? 29:24 My lord, may I have until noon to leave? The travels from here are arduous, and leaving without rest could get me 29:30 killed. No, you will leave before sunrise. If you're so tired, go rest now. I've crossed the desert innumerable 29:38 times on a lack of sleep. Prove your grit and do so as well. Be gone by the mororrow or there will be no more 29:44 sunrise for you. Chishaku lowered his head in defeat as Gar left. Gar would go 29:50 and take up his place in the Kazak's office once again. Ripping Jishaku's picture from the wall and replacing it 29:56 with his own. Sitting down in the chair of the Hokag, he looked over at the hat. And for the first time since he had 30:02 left, he lighted it upon his head. From here on, Gar with more power led his 30:08 people. Naruto's words stuck with him, giving him the strength to make wiser and stronger decisions. He had been a 30:14 monster in the past. But instead of fearing becoming the monster again, he instead cultivated a mindset of 30:21 determination. He wouldn't become a monster again. Even if his village forced him to make hard decisions, he 30:28 would make the hardest decisions in favor of preserving as much life as possible. And from there, people began 30:34 to respect him more. The hidden leaf would hold a tuning exams in conjunction with the hidden sand. And together, the 30:41 bond would grow between Konoha and Suna. This bond remained well after the fourth 30:46 Shinobi World War and well into Naruto's tenure as Hokag. For years after, Go 30:52 would continue to lead his people without issue. The name of Jishaku would fade from his memory until one day he's 30:59 informed of an odd shinobi. Yeah, Kankuro would tell Gar, "I've looked into it and he is indeed Jishaku's 31:06 illegitimate son, sired about a month before Jishaku's untimely death. every bit as skilled in magnet release as his 31:12 old man. Perhaps more so. That's not a good thing. Oh, why is that? Gar asked. 31:18 Well, it's because he can't seem to control his powers. Gar was surprised by this. He himself had been like that 31:24 once, hurting people with his own abilities by accident. What's this boy's name? Gar asked. Konko looked at the 31:30 paper. Uh, his name is Shinki. Gar stood up. Then how about we go pay Shinki a 31:37 visit? And that's where I plan to call it for the day. Frankly, I'd like to think of 31:43 this less as a scenario that happened in some far-flung universe, but instead as maybe my own little filler episode. 31:49 Naruto gets filler episodes all the time. Heck, I'd argue it's mostly filler at some points. But there was a big 31:56 blank period between Naruto's time out of the leaf and his return. And while I know Suna did hold a tuning exams during 32:03 that time, I don't recall anything else that Gar really did. So, I thought this would actually make for a perfect blank 32:09 period arc. I hope you all enjoyed it. I know a certain somebody's been asking for this for like 65 days or however 32:16 high they got. So, I hope it's everything you wanted.
