0:00 Arochimaru was a brilliant scientist and 0:02 shinobi with such promise that he 0:05 squandered. I find myself thinking about 0:07 it a lot like why he was evil and stuff. 0:11 I know a lot of it spawned from the 0:13 death of his parents and the feelings he 0:15 got after that. Feeling helpless like he 0:18 had no power. That would serve as plenty 0:20 enough explanation. But it still makes 0:22 me wonder about it though. After all, he 0:25 didn't appear to be evil from the very 0:27 start to me. troubled, but not 0:29 necessarily evil. I can't forget when 0:32 Don died insunade's arms, how Orochimaru 0:35 was crying. That was empathy, a form of 0:38 love. That was a gasp from the goodness 0:41 inside of Orochi Maru. So, I can't help 0:44 but wonder what changed since then. How 0:47 was it that Orochi Maru could go from 0:49 crying over the death of a comrade to 0:52 celebrating the death of his master to 0:54 trying to kill the same people he grew 0:56 up with? Well, today I want to look at 0:59 Orochimaru in a whole new light. I want 1:01 to see what would happen if Hirozen took 1:03 a more proactive step in Orochimaru's 1:06 life after the death of his parents to 1:08 see if maybe he could help Orochimaru 1:10 heal from the ordeal in hopes that maybe 1:13 it would alter who he grows up to be. 1:15 Welcome to the Amagi. And with 1:23 that out of the way, let's get into the 1:25 video. Death is something that happens 1:28 to everyone. It's an immutable part of 1:30 living in this imperfect world. The sad 1:33 truth about human life is that just as 1:35 it has a beginning, it also has an 1:38 ending. We do not wander this mortal 1:40 plane forever. Nobody knows exactly when 1:43 they're going to die, and that's a good 1:45 thing. There are just some things we 1:47 should not know, the knowledge of which 1:50 would kill us. But when it happens, it 1:52 doesn't mean it's any less painful. 1:54 Sometimes it happens to the young and 1:56 people look at it and wonder how cruel 1:58 it seems. Death isn't picky and 2:01 sometimes it takes people that we feel 2:03 are unfair to take. Hi contemplated 2:06 these same things when he watched one of 2:08 his own students experience that pain. 2:10 Hi had always had a heart, something 2:13 very hard to hold on to in this shinobi 2:15 world. He admitted he wasn't the best 2:18 leader in the village nor the most 2:19 popular, but he did have heart. The 2:23 world tried to take it away on many 2:25 occasions, but Hisen held on to humanity 2:27 with a death grip, believing that it's 2:30 what his job was, his role. To remind 2:33 the world not to be consumed by the pain 2:35 and hatred, and to remember that we were 2:37 all just little specks floating on a 2:39 little blue marble across the vastness 2:42 of outer space. Orochi Maru was such a 2:45 smart child. His eyes gleamed with 2:47 intelligence. Hi saw a lot of himself 2:50 inside Orochimaru. He loved teaching 2:52 him. Hi loved all of his students 2:55 equally, but each one was different. 2:57 Jeriah was the one who always made 2:59 Hiazen laugh, and for that, he loved 3:01 just teaching him in general, watching 3:03 him clown around during physical 3:05 studies. 3:08 But she was hotheaded. He wasn't as big 3:11 a fan of teaching her, but he knew that 3:13 she was responsible and strong, and it 3:16 made him think that there was a 3:17 possibility that she may one day grow to 3:19 be the first woman Hokag. And as for 3:22 Orochi Maru, while he wasn't the 3:24 strongest by any means, weaker than both 3:26 of his comrades, even frail in some 3:29 aspects, he saw within his eyes the same 3:31 gleam of wonder that Hisin once had. He 3:35 loved to give Arochimaru new scrolls to 3:38 listen to him talk about all the things 3:39 he learned. Arochimaru had a lot of new 3:42 and revolutionary ideas and solutions 3:45 that Hirozen had never heard before. He 3:47 loved teaching Arochimaru njutsu and 3:50 other problems that had to be faced 3:51 moving forward. He saw Arochimaru one 3:54 day becoming a great scientist, even 3:56 earning a Nobel Peace Prize or whatever 3:59 this world's equivalent was for the good 4:01 he did. But right now, he watched as 4:03 Orochi Maru was learning a new lesson. 4:05 One that might be the hardest of all to 4:07 learn. It was a lesson he did not choose 4:10 to learn. Amidst the rain that fell, 4:13 Arochimaru stood there in his pale 4:14 kimono, looking on at the graves, his 4:17 black hair dripping from the rain. He 4:20 either had forgotten his umbrella or 4:21 simply didn't notice the rain. Hi was 4:24 watching innocents die. Orochimaru's 4:27 parents were gone, and with them, a 4:29 piece of Arochimaru died, too. Hi began 4:32 to approach the lad standing over him. 4:34 From here he could see Arochimaru's 4:36 face, a blank stare looking at the 4:38 graves. Are you all right? Hi asked. 4:41 Arochimaru nodded slowly. Are are they? 4:45 He asked pointing at the graves. 4:47 Arochimaru was so young and though he 4:50 learned much about everything, he still 4:52 had much he remained ignorant about. 4:54 Arochimaru had heard of death before and 4:57 accepted it as a natural part of life 4:59 without thinking. But now that he looked 5:01 down at the graves of his parents, oh so 5:03 cruy taken from this world, leaving the 5:05 boy an orphan, he began to question what 5:08 death really was. What is happening to 5:11 them? Why did we bury them? Hi knelt 5:14 down beside Orochi Maru, shielding him 5:16 from the rain with his umbrella. 5:18 Orochimaru, we buried them because they 5:21 died. What even is death? He asked. Why 5:24 did they die? Orochimaru couldn't wrap 5:27 his head around it. Or perhaps he didn't 5:29 want to wrap his head around it. Death 5:31 is what happens when the soul leaves the 5:34 body. The body stops working. They no 5:36 longer possess their souls, which have 5:38 moved on. They lost their souls. Where 5:41 did their souls go? Here isn't shrugged. 5:44 To the afterlife. To heaven or hell? He 5:47 asked. Here stopped and looked at the 5:49 boy. Sometimes only God knew where 5:51 people went. It was never about being 5:54 good or evil after all, but trusting in 5:56 the one God sent. Whether they did that 5:59 or not, Hisin could not know. But as he 6:01 looked at the little boy, the intensity 6:03 in his eyes, Hisin could not let this 6:05 boy's pain increase. "Heaven?" His said. 6:09 "How long will they be gone?" Orochimaru 6:11 asked. "You may not see them again until 6:13 you die one day," Hien said. "I'll die, 6:16 too," Orochimaru asked. Hi took a deep 6:19 breath and let it out. Yes, probably. As 6:23 will I someday, and so will Jeriah 6:25 andsunade, but hopefully not for a very 6:28 long time. Arochimaru's hand trembled a 6:31 bit. As his breathing increased, his 6:33 gaze intensified and his brow turned up 6:36 and stiffened. Hi had seen this before. 6:39 The sudden shiver down the spine. 6:41 Arochimaru was panicking. Inside of his 6:43 own head, he was having a crisis that 6:45 was not being displayed. Orochimaru felt 6:48 his chest tighten as though he were a 6:50 prisoner in a cage made of his own 6:52 bones. Claustrophobia. Tears were in his 6:55 fear-filled eyes. "I don't want to die," 6:58 his voice tried to scream out. Yet the 7:01 fear gripped his throat like a vice, 7:03 reducing his voice to nothing, turning 7:05 his cry of terror into a breathy 7:08 whisper. "Hi tossed the umbrella to the 7:10 side and embraced the boy tightly." 7:12 "Orochimaru, please be calm," he said. 7:15 You're still alive. Arochimaru's whole 7:18 system was in shock. Hiazen understood 7:20 that there were some things that you 7:22 were better off not knowing. Hi had 7:24 never really thought about it before, 7:25 but currently right now he was 7:28 understanding the concept of an 7:30 information hazard. There was an old 7:32 term that went, "What they don't know 7:34 can't hurt them." For the longest time, 7:36 Hisan always saw it as a convenient 7:38 excuse to keep secrets from people who 7:40 would get you in trouble for something 7:41 you did. But right now, as he felt a 7:43 Rochimaru tremble in his arms, quaking 7:46 from the knowledge he was not ready to 7:47 learn, he understood the concept of the 7:49 infohazard. The idea that there were 7:52 certain pieces of true information that 7:54 just by being known could hurt someone. 7:57 Not just that knowing something might 7:59 bring harm to others, but the emotional 8:01 and mental health issues that may crop 8:03 up from the sudden realization of 8:05 reality. as though one had looked at the 8:07 true form of one of the Lovecraftian 8:09 outer gods and were driven mad by the 8:11 knowledge of the existence of such a 8:13 thing and what Orochiimaru was dealing 8:15 with right now. That information was 8:17 called Thanoos, death. And he could 8:20 sense it growing in the boy, ph 8:22 thantophobia, the sudden and irrational 8:25 fear of death. An existential crisis 8:28 pertaining in particular to the sudden 8:30 realization of the risk that existence 8:32 in the mortal plane was limited. 8:34 Master," he managed to call out with a 8:36 scared and shaky voice. Lifting the boy 8:38 up into his arms, he walked away from 8:40 the graves. Orochi Maru caught sight of 8:43 them and looked away. He couldn't look 8:45 at them anymore. As Hisan held 8:47 Orochimaru, he walked back to his other 8:49 students to see and Jeriah standing 8:52 there. They both seemed troubled. "Is 8:55 Oro okay?" Jeriah asked, his hand 8:57 reaching ever so slightly toward him as 8:59 though he were searching for a way to 9:00 help. It was here that Hirzin saw 9:03 Jeriah's greatest strength. Just like 9:05 Hisin himself, Jeriah's strength was his 9:07 heart. It was love. He'll be okay, Hien 9:10 said. But what about you two? Are you 9:13 okay? Jeriah nodded as didsunade. Both 9:16 of them had been familiar with death 9:18 before. Neither of them held fear or 9:20 worry about death. Walked toward them 9:23 and reached up to put her hand on Orochi 9:25 Maru's leg. Jeriah doing the same. Hi 9:28 hugged the boy a little tighter as 9:30 though to show him that he were still 9:31 here. What can we do to help? Sununade 9:34 asked, her healer's spirit already 9:36 champing at the bit to find a way to 9:37 cure Orochimaru of his pains. Hi put his 9:40 hand on her head. We will be patient 9:42 with him. He's going through something 9:44 very hard. How long will it take him to 9:46 get better? She asked. One couldn't put 9:48 a time on healing the mind. as long as 9:51 he needs," Hisan said. Looking up at the 9:54 rain, then back at the graves, then 9:56 finally toward his students, he spoke. 9:58 "I suggest we take the day off. Go home 10:01 and spend time with the people you love 10:03 and enjoy having some time off. Rest 10:06 does as much good as any exercise," 10:08 Hisan said. Retrieving his umbrella, he 10:10 held it over himself and Orochi Maru. He 10:13 walked his students to the crossroads 10:14 where they would head to their own 10:15 homes. When they left, he looked over at 10:18 Orochimaru and spoke. I have a spare 10:21 room in my house. I would like you to 10:23 come and stay with Biwako and I. Would 10:25 you do us the honors of coming to our 10:27 home, Orochimaru? The boy didn't answer, 10:29 but he did not protest either. And 10:31 considering that he didn't feel that it 10:33 was good or even safe to leave 10:35 Orochimaru alone by himself, he took the 10:38 boy home with him. Closing down the 10:40 umbrella, he opened the door to his 10:42 house and stepped in. Buo came around 10:44 the side to see her husband, only to 10:46 find him holding a Rochimaru. Oh dear, 10:49 is the poor thing all right? She asked 10:51 as she drew closer to the two of them. 10:53 Hi nodded. I think he'll be okay. He's 10:56 just not doing well right now. I was 10:58 thinking that Orochi Maru could stay 11:00 with us for a little while, he said. Buo 11:03 being privy to the situation and seeing 11:05 how badly he was taking it all, nodded 11:07 in agreement. Of course, he may stay 11:09 with us as long as he needs, she said. 11:12 Hi gave his wife a kiss on the cheek. 11:14 Thank you, Bwako, he said. Sitting the 11:16 boy down, Hisan spoke. "I'm going to 11:19 stop by Orochimaru's home and pick up 11:21 some essentials he'll need to stay with 11:23 us. For now, try to keep him warm," 11:25 Hisan said. Biwoko nodded. Getting a 11:28 towel, she returned not much longer 11:30 thereafter to see Arochimaru still 11:32 standing there, dripping wet and 11:34 downcast. His eyes could not be seen 11:36 under the thick black hair hanging down. 11:38 The woman knelt down in front of him and 11:40 began to dry his hair. It stuck out 11:42 everywhere now. Pushing the hair back, 11:44 she saw his eyes for the first time. 11:47 They were intense and full of terror and 11:49 tears. She only now began to realize 11:52 just how badly Arochimaru was taking it. 11:54 She threw the towel over his shoulders 11:56 and drew him into a hug. Not only to 11:59 warm him up, but to also give him all 12:01 the affection that she knew he needed. 12:03 She kept him as warm as she could until 12:05 her returned with a small duffel bag. "I 12:07 brought some of your clothes, Orochi 12:09 Maru," he said. "Why don't you change 12:11 into them?" Leading the boy to the spare 12:13 room, he put the duffel bag down on the 12:15 ground. This will be your room for now, 12:17 he said. I know it's not much compared 12:19 to the room you had at home, but I took 12:21 the liberty of bringing some of your 12:22 toys as well, mostly the stuffed ones I 12:25 found around your bed. I hope you don't 12:27 mind. We can fix the room up further if 12:29 you'd like, but for now, why don't you 12:31 get into something a little warmer or 12:32 drier? He opened up the bag and placed 12:35 some of the clothes onto the bed. I hope 12:37 my choices were okay. I chose what I 12:39 thought you might like the most. I'll be 12:41 outside. Choose whatever you want and 12:43 just leave the old stuff in the corner. 12:45 Biwoko and I will wash them for you. Hi 12:48 placed his hand on Orochi Maru's 12:50 shoulder to give him comfort and then 12:51 stepped outside, closing the door behind 12:53 him. As he headed down, he found Bwako 12:56 who was waiting at the foot of the 12:57 stairs. What happened? She asked her 13:00 began to explain. Arochi Maru didn't 13:03 truly grasp death until just today. A 13:06 smart boy like him didn't know what 13:08 death was, she questioned. Here isn't 13:10 shook his head. I suspect he did, but 13:13 blocked it out. I think he chose not to 13:15 observe it because it was an 13:16 uncomfortable subject. He might have a 13:19 pre-established deep-seated fear of 13:21 death and today probably shook him. 13:23 Bwako let out a sigh and shook her head. 13:26 Poor soul. Harrison gave his wife a hug. 13:29 I really appreciate this Bwico, he said. 13:32 She smiled. Honestly, it'll be nice to 13:34 have a child wandering the halls for 13:36 once. That room has been empty for so 13:38 long. I was beginning to think we would 13:40 never fill it, she said. Hi's hug on her 13:42 grew tighter. I know it hasn't happened 13:44 yet, but it will. Just have faith, he 13:47 said. Buuko's grasp grew tighter around 13:49 Hirzin as his lips pecked at her head. 13:52 After a bit of time later, Hien made his 13:54 way back up and knocked on the door. 13:56 Orochimaru, are you ready yet? He asked. 13:59 There wasn't a response. Orochimaru? 14:02 Still no response. May I come in? He 14:05 asked. Yet for the third time, there was 14:07 no response. Here in was slightly 14:10 worried. He opened the door to find a 14:12 Rochim Maru just staring out the window, 14:14 sitting on the bed. He had yet to change 14:16 clothes or anything and was still just 14:18 as soggy as before. Here walked over. 14:21 "Why haven't you changed yet?" he asked. 14:23 Orochimaru kept looking out the window. 14:26 His followed his gaze and realized that 14:28 the direction he was looking led out to 14:30 Konoha Cemetery, where Arochimaru's 14:32 parents were buried. Arochimaru hadn't 14:35 stopped looking. It seemed in spirit he 14:38 was still out there looking at the 14:39 graves. Hi sat on his bed with him. 14:42 Arochimaru, you know that you don't need 14:44 to be afraid, right? Arochimaru didn't 14:47 turn to look at him. Hi continued to 14:49 speak. Death isn't the end. He said 14:52 death is not the ceasing to exist, but 14:55 the transcendence from one plane of 14:57 existence to another. It's a 14:59 transformation. The boy was silent. 15:01 Herizen continued, "The reason why death 15:04 is so hard for humans to grasp is that 15:06 we instinctively expect life to go on 15:09 forever. We live as though we're 15:11 immortal, despite death being 15:14 unavoidable." This sent a shiver down 15:16 Orochi Maru's spine, but the shiver was 15:19 caught by Hirisin's hand, stabilizing 15:21 the boy with warmth and love. "Do you 15:23 know why we treat life as neverending? 15:26 Because we are truly immortal." 15:28 Orochimaru finally looked up at Hirozen 15:31 as he spoke. Hienin took up Arochimaru's 15:33 hand and showed him. Look at this 15:35 Orochiaru. This is your hand. Every day 15:38 as you grow, your body creates new 15:40 cells. One cell turns to two, two to 15:44 four. This is how you grow. But at 15:46 times, cells will also die. Science 15:49 tells us that bodywide the average life 15:52 expectancy for any cell is 7 to 10 15:54 years. Not every cell dies, of course. 15:58 Some live as long as we do, but many of 16:00 them do die. You're about 10 years old 16:02 now, aren't you? This means that chances 16:05 are most of the cells you were born with 16:08 have already died and been replaced by 16:10 new ones. Your body is in a constant 16:13 state of birth and death every moment. 16:16 But you don't feel it because you don't 16:18 know. Just because your cells die 16:20 doesn't mean you stop existing. You 16:22 exist now. And one day, everyone's cells 16:26 will stop reproducing. And the cells 16:28 will eventually die off causing death. 16:30 Herizen said, "But just like now, that's 16:33 not the end." Because the only thing 16:35 that never dies is your soul. Wherever 16:37 it goes, it goes there to live forever. 16:40 That's why we call the afterlife the 16:42 life after because there is life. The 16:45 soul never dies. You know that, Hisen 16:48 said. Arochimaru looked down. Make no 16:50 mistake, your parents are still watching 16:53 you. They just aren't in this dimension 16:55 anymore. It's not that they don't exist, 16:58 it's that they've simply moved away. 17:00 Remember when your parents would leave 17:01 on missions? It's like that when they 17:04 left on missions, they used to come 17:06 back, he said. His nodded. Yes, but they 17:10 are waiting for you, helping to prepare 17:12 a place for you. It's as though they've 17:14 gone to a new country to live. One day, 17:17 you will join them, and when you do, 17:19 you'll have a wonderful home with them 17:20 and all those who went on before you. 17:23 Don't be sad, Orochimaru. And don't be 17:25 scared. Death is not the end. So long as 17:28 you trust in God and trust in his son, 17:30 you'll be okay. All right. Orochimaru 17:33 offered a nod. Hirozen pulled Orochimaru 17:36 into a hug and kissed his head. Now, why 17:38 don't you change out of these clothes 17:40 and into something warmer? Then you can 17:42 come downstairs and we'll have lunch. 17:43 Does that sound nice? Arochimaru nodded. 17:46 Remember that you're never alone. Death 17:48 doesn't remove love. Love like the soul 17:51 is immortal. And Biwoko and I, Jeriah 17:55 andSunady, we all love you too. So never 17:58 fear the lack of love. His stood and 18:00 began to leave the room. Before he did, 18:02 though, he stopped, picking up another 18:04 kimono he had laid out, he looked at it. 18:06 It was orange and grew lighter the lower 18:09 it went, like the sun. The sleeves were 18:11 rolled up and cuffed, and the material 18:13 was soft. He spoke, "Orochimaru, this is 18:16 a wonderful kimono here. I'd be lucky to 18:19 have one just like it," he said with a 18:21 smile. "Maybe you should wear this one. 18:23 The colors are so warm and cheery. Maybe 18:26 if you wore it, the feeling would rub 18:28 off on you," he said, laying it back 18:29 down. "But then again, I want you to 18:31 wear what you want to wear." He then 18:34 moved to the door. "Just please change 18:36 into something warm. I don't want you 18:38 catching a cold. As a side note, I 18:40 actually discovered something neat. It's 18:42 always said that if you're cold, you'll 18:44 catch a cold. That's sort of one of 18:45 those old wives tales that you hear, but 18:47 it's only partially true. A cold is a 18:49 virus, not just being cold. So, you 18:51 don't catch a cold by being cold. 18:53 However, when you are cold, it weakens 18:55 your immune system, particularly in your 18:57 nose, which makes you much more 18:59 susceptible to getting sick. Maybe I'm 19:01 late to the party by not realizing that, 19:02 but hey, I thought it was neat. Maybe 19:04 you will, too. Back to the story. Here 19:06 himself decided to change out of his own 19:08 wet clothes into something warmer and 19:10 nicer. He made his way downstairs where 19:12 Bwako was waiting. So, what do you 19:14 suppose is on for lunch? He asked. I 19:16 don't know. I wasn't expecting you home 19:18 so early, she said. Well, how about we 19:20 have something that Orochi Maru would 19:22 like? He asked. What does he enjoy? I 19:24 one time asked him and he said he 19:26 absolutely loves boiled eggs, so maybe 19:28 we can make some eggs for lunch. Biwoko 19:31 nodded. Then that's what we'll do. At 19:33 about that time, Arochimaru came down 19:35 the stairs. He was wearing the orange 19:37 kimono Hisan had suggested and seemingly 19:39 had combed out his hair. Biwako looked 19:41 back at him and gasped with a clap. "Oh 19:44 my, you look so handsome," she said, 19:46 drawing a faint smile from the boy, the 19:48 first sign that maybe he was on a better 19:50 track toward healing. Biwoko walked over 19:52 and pulled the boy into an embrace. She 19:55 spoke. "I was thinking that for lunch we 19:57 should have some boiled eggs. How about 19:59 you help me?" she asked. Arochimaru 20:01 nodded. He still wasn't speaking, but he 20:03 was at least interacting now. He walked 20:06 into the kitchen with Buicko and helped 20:07 to make some boiled eggs just the way he 20:09 liked them. They all sat down for lunch 20:11 and as they ate, Arochi Maru was more or 20:14 less just picking at his food. He was 20:16 definitely trying, but it was clear he 20:18 had no appetite. Buo reached forward 20:20 with her hand and rested it on 20:21 Orochimaru's. Don't force yourself too 20:24 hard, okay? Eat what you can when you 20:26 can. Nobody will be mad at you. 20:28 Orochimaru nodded. He managed to eat the 20:31 eggs. It took him just a bit more time, 20:33 but it was enough. After that, Hien was 20:36 sitting on the couch spending time 20:37 reading a novel he'd been into. 20:39 Arochimaru just sat on a nearby chair 20:41 doing well, nothing. As Arochimaru sat 20:44 there, Hien would sit his book down and 20:46 move upstairs for a time. He would come 20:48 back down carrying a box. Inside, the 20:51 box was filled with scrolls and books. 20:54 Orochimaru looked at it. His waved 20:56 Orochi Maru over. The boy slowly stood 20:59 and walked to him. Sit down on the couch 21:01 with me," Hien said as he rifled through 21:03 the contents of the box. Hien pulled a 21:05 scroll out. Looking back at Orochi Maru, 21:07 he spoke. Your chakra affinity is earth, 21:10 correct? He added. Orochimaru nodded. 21:13 His then smiled and spoke. These scrolls 21:16 detail information about every chakra 21:18 nature, how it's used, and techniques 21:20 that are common to them. Further, I even 21:23 have scrolls for a yin and yang release 21:25 in here. I even have one on senjutsu. 21:28 How about we read them together? We 21:29 might learn a few new tricks, huh? Make 21:31 our day-to-day lives easier. He smiled. 21:34 Arochimaru returned the smile ever so 21:37 slightly. How about we start with wind 21:39 release? Hi said. He took the scroll and 21:41 sat down beside the boy and opened it 21:43 up. The two read it over multiple times 21:45 and tried to make sense of it. There was 21:47 a weak sparkle in Orochimaru's eyes. It 21:50 wasn't bright, but who could have 21:52 expected it to be? But with the little 21:54 shine there, it gave her hope that the 21:56 boy wasn't entirely dead inside. No, he 21:59 was still feeling the same joy as 22:01 before. The two sat there and read about 22:03 chakra natures all day until supper 22:05 time, in which case Arochimaru seemed to 22:07 have a bit more of an appetite with even 22:09 a bit of a smile remaining on his lips 22:11 as he thought. Under the table, Biwoko's 22:14 hand reached out for her husbands, 22:15 clasping it, their fingers interlocking. 22:18 Biwoko's smile and grip told Hisin that 22:21 this was why she was in love with him. 22:23 what he was doing now was exactly why 22:25 she fell for him in the first place and 22:27 she was so grateful that some things 22:29 never changed. After supper, they 22:31 observed bath time. Buo went first while 22:33 Hiazen entertained a Rochimaru a bit 22:36 more. After that, she called the 22:37 Rochimaru up for a bath. She gave him 22:40 his privacy and told him to take as long 22:41 as he needed. Despite that, she stood by 22:44 the door the whole time to listen. Hi 22:46 not far away. After he was out, Hiazen 22:48 took him and finally they began to 22:50 settle down. Hi would show Orochimaru to 22:53 his room and help him get comfortable in 22:54 the bed. He sat there on the bed after 22:56 Orochimaru was properly tucked. As 22:59 Orochi Maru lay there though, it was 23:00 clear in his eyes that something was 23:02 bothering him. Here slid his hand over 23:05 Arochi Maru as the boy slowly began to 23:07 drip tears from his eyes. "Hey, what's 23:10 wrong?" he asked. Orochimaru wiped the 23:12 tears away. "Sorry, don't apologize. I 23:16 just want to know what's bothering you." 23:17 Orochimaru spoke. I know what you said 23:20 earlier about the afterlife and stuff 23:22 and about how we don't actually die, but 23:25 it still hurts. He said, "I miss them so 23:28 much, and knowing it'll be so long 23:30 before I can ever see them again, I He 23:32 began to cry." Bwako appeared in the 23:34 doorway to watch. Hi knelt down by the 23:37 bedside to get closer to Orochimaru. I 23:40 know how you feel, Hirzin said. "My 23:42 parents are dead, too," Hien told him. 23:45 Orochimaru looked at Hien and spoke. Do 23:47 you ever miss them? Hi nodded. All the 23:51 time. Does it ever get any easier? 23:53 Orochimaru asked. Once more. Hi nodded. 23:56 Yes. All it takes is getting in the 23:58 right frame of mind. And that's a lot to 24:01 ask of you so quickly. Arochimaru looked 24:03 down. He opened his mouth to speak but 24:05 then stopped. Hi nudged him. Go ahead. 24:08 Say what you wanted to say. Don't hide 24:10 it. Arochimaru spoke. I don't want you 24:13 to think I'm some baby. Hi shook his 24:15 head. I would never. Arochimaru looked 24:18 over at Biwako and then back to Hirozen. 24:20 I don't want to go back to being by 24:22 myself. I don't want to go home, he 24:25 said. Biwoko let off a kind smile as 24:27 Hirozen spoke. You wish to live with us 24:30 permanently. As though ashamed, Orochi 24:33 Maru just barely nodded. Biwoko walked 24:35 into the room, kneeling on the other 24:37 side of Orochimaru. I for one would love 24:39 to have you around, she said. Hi then 24:42 spoke. This room is yours for as long as 24:44 you want it, he said. Hi then pulled out 24:47 a book he'd been reading and sat on the 24:48 side of the bed. Why don't I read a 24:50 little bit of this to you? He asked. And 24:53 so he read a little bit of that story to 24:55 Orochimaru until the boy had fallen 24:57 asleep. Once he had, stood up softly 25:00 from the bed. He turned the lamp off and 25:02 slowly began to make his way out of the 25:04 room with Buicko, closing the door 25:05 behind him. Hi and Buicko made it back 25:08 to the living room where Buicko pulled 25:10 out two glasses and a bottle of fine 25:12 sake just a little bit to calm the 25:14 nerves and to cleanse the body. As they 25:16 sat there, the two of them sipped from 25:17 their glasses, only going back for a 25:20 second round after finishing the first. 25:22 You know, Hu, she said, I am very proud 25:24 of you. Here smiled as he looked down. 25:27 Honestly, as I was bringing him home, I 25:30 was a little nervous that you might be 25:31 mad, he said. I was afraid that you'd be 25:33 upset at me for dropping a big 25:35 responsibility back into our lives. You 25:38 know I'm not upset at you, she said. You 25:40 brought home a soul in need and you're 25:42 helping to care for him. This is the 25:44 reason I've fallen in love with you in 25:45 the first place, she said. Hi nodded. 25:48 Still, I was a bit nervous for other 25:50 reasons too, he said. And those reasons 25:52 are. Hi looked over at her. Orochimaru 25:55 is a child and I know that we've he 25:59 stopped short. Biwoko then picked up 26:01 where he left off. It's true. He is a 26:03 child, but that doesn't mean I didn't 26:05 want him here. She drew closer. "You 26:07 know it's not your fault we haven't had 26:09 one of our own yet, right?" she asked. 26:10 Here is a nodded. "It's not your fault 26:13 either." Bwako kissed his cheek. The 26:15 doctor said just to keep trying 26:17 eventually. It will happen. Here is 26:19 nodded. I guess so. Biwoko hugged 26:22 tightly to her husband. It will happen 26:24 eventually. We just got to keep it up. 26:26 And you know, even if it doesn't, just 26:28 being able to spend time with you, it's 26:30 not bad at all. Adoption isn't a bad 26:33 choice either. I would be glad if 26:34 Arochimaru were to call me mom at some 26:36 point, she said. Of course, that's up to 26:38 him. But still, I wouldn't mind taking 26:41 all those instincts and pushing them 26:42 toward him. His nodded. She then spoke. 26:46 It doesn't matter to me. What matters is 26:48 that I have a happy husband who has a 26:50 loving heart. That's what matters to me, 26:52 she said. If we are to have a child of 26:54 our own, it'll happen. For now though, 26:56 let's focus on Orochi Maru. Hi and 26:59 smiled. All right, 27:01 and that's where I want to pause it for 27:03 today. Frankly, I love stories like 27:05 these. I love it when we get to see a 27:07 few characters interact in a way like 27:09 this. And as much as I bag on Hirozen, I 27:11 feel like he's got a lot of potential as 27:13 a character, mostly because of his 27:15 heart. I just sometimes feel like he's a 27:17 bit too afraid to do what the most kind 27:20 and loving thing is. That's why I get 27:22 upset at him. But this story gives me a 27:25 certain love for Hirozen that only a 27:27 story like this can. Here's to hoping 27:29 Orochi Maru has a bright future. We'll 27:31 have to wait and see now, won't we? 27:33 Anyway, what did you think about this 27:34 video? Did you enjoy it? If so, let us 27:37 know in the comments below.
