night as Naruto was being born. It was a very odd night, one filled with a

negative aura of loneliness and dread, as if those of the village knew something bad was going to happen. Due

to this, Itachi couldn't sleep and his little brother, though not yet crying, was in a state of unrest. So, despite

his parents working late that night, Itachi decided to get up and just wander around their house, finding his place on

the porch. For an October night, it was fairly warm. Itachi was grateful for

this. While many kids in school preferred the winter to the summer, Itachi was not one of those. It brought

joy to his heart to enjoy the days. And though they were shortening, he was okay with that. Any time where he got warmth

and sunlight was a blessing. And even now at night, the moon reflected the sun's rays, offering a dull light that

kept his eyes fixed to the skies, counting the stars. But frankly, he too

felt something was off. In Wishim told him tonight wasn't a good night, which

is likely why he and Sasuke both were awake. But as the night wore on,

suddenly something occurred. something nobody would ever forget. The Ninetailes appeared and began to cut the village to

pieces. Itachi saw this and was startled. Debris began to rain down like

hail in a hurricane. Itachi, being the ever cautious and loving brother, got up

and began to run for safety, looking for the shelter. But the unfortunate thing was that the rubble dropping from the

sky was hard to avoid. And when you were hunched, keeping your little brother covered with your body, you didn't have

the ability to look up. A fairly large-sized piece of rubble fell from the sky and struck Itachi. Itachi fell

to the ground, barely avoiding crushing his baby brother. For a time, Itachi was out like a light, and not a single

person stopped to help him. They thought he was dead. Either that or they were too afraid for their own lives to bother

with him. Eventually, Itachi came too, his mind foggy, his skull aching.

tremendously. His head bleeding and his eyes improperly dilated. He had no clear

thoughts. He knew he needed to save his brother. But how was another story? He barely managed to stand. He began to

walk, moving in a direction often contrary to the crowd, seeking shelter. The village was fighting the Ninetailes.

Maybe in his own weird way, Itachi was trying to get out of the war zone. Maybe he was just trying to get out of the

village. Or perhaps there was little left in his mind at that moment to make logical decisions. For those who don't

understand, Itachi has suffered a traumatic brain injury and this is severely impairing his decision-making

processes. Only sheer will and determination are keeping him on his feet at all, let alone giving him

knowledge of where to go. Where he went, he wasn't sure. He found himself in a wooded area away from the village near a

shack, which when entered, he saw laying in a bed Kusha and a baby. Kusha was

weak. Itachi saw her and something sparked inside of him. Mom's friend. Safety, he said. He ran to the side of

the bed, drawing the weak woman's attention. "Itachi?" she asked. He stood there in a daze. Kusha saw the blood

dripping from Itachi's head. "Itachi, are you okay?" she asked, her motherly instincts kicking in and burning even

more energy just to check on him. As she reached out to him, he began to collapse, only caught by Kusha's hands.

Somehow, despite consciousness leaving him, he was still holding Sasuke tightly. She pulled him into the bed

where she laid him out. Kusha wasn't sure what to do, what she could do. She

was so weak and could barely move herself. And now Itachi may be having a brain hemorrhage here on the bed with

her. All she could do now was cover him and pray Minto showed up soon. She took

Sasuke from his arms and lay him beside Naruto, preparing to do whatever she could to heal Itachi. She wasn't a true

medical nin, but she had decided to learn basic first aid for the battlefield just so she could heal

herself and others if needed. And right now, she was trying her best. The all-around healing type was the mystical

palm technique. It was a hard to apply technique that required incredible chakra control not to overly stimulate

the body, lest it put the person into a coma from disrupting the flow of chakra in them. Kusha was in no way good at

healing, and as such, she may not have been using as much chakra as needed out of an abundance of caution. This likely

would see the wounds healing being so slow that basically all she was doing was keeping the boy alive. Even still,

it wasn't like she could do much more than that with the limited chakra she had now. Every second she spent using

this on Itachi was another second shaved off her own life. Without the Ninetailes, she was going to die. And by

expending more chakra, she was pushing closer to death more quickly. It wasn't

much longer after that that the building was blown away by an explosion, the detonation of a nearby tailed beast

ball. Mito had shown up, but he brought the Ninetailes with him. Kusha threw herself over the children, attempting to

cover each of them with her body and take any more blows that might come. Itachi was in no physical condition to

defend himself. And any more blows to the head could be fatal. "Let my body die protecting these children," she said

in defiance to the incoming attacks. After the explosion had subsided, she saw the Ninetailes before her, her

husband standing between her and it like some knight defending his princess from an evil dragon. She gathered what

remained of her strength to help fight it with Mito. But in the end, it wasn't enough. They were both running on empty,

and in an attempt to quickly deal with the beast without losing one of Konoha's greatest assets, they decided to seal

the beast inside of one of the children. The most likely candidate was Itachi, but Kusha refused, telling him that

Itachi was already in an unstable condition and would likely die if it were sealed inside of him. So, Mito made

the fateful decision to seal the beast into Sasuke. But as he began to do so, he realized that this would be far too

much for a single infant to carry. So he split the chakra and sealed the yang half of the ninetailes inside of Naruto

and the yin half inside of Sasuke. With this finished, Mito and Kusha perished,

leaving the three children alone. Soon after, Hiazen showed up on the scene with some Shinobi and the monkey king

could survive the injuries they had sustained. He was surprised though to find Itachi and Sasuke here. Sasuke and

awakened since he was brought there. Hi was sure to give a call to Fugaku and Makoto to tell them about what had

happened. He updated them on Itachi's condition as well as Sasuke's status as

reassure him. Fugaku, disgusted that the Uchiah were halted from helping the village stop the Ninetailes and now

seeing how his son was being treated in the hospital, elected to remove both Itachi and Sasuke from the care of

Konoha General and instead took them back to the compound where their own Uchiah doctors could more closely tend

to them. It was a good thing, too, because had Fugaku not done that, Itachi's brain would have swollen to the

point of death. As terrifying as it was, they had to perform a craniactomy to ensure that the brain had enough room to

swell. Makoto had not cried or prayed that hard until that night. But thankfully, Itachi pulled through. The

swelling went down and his skull could be closed up. A scar remained on his head from the ordeal, but when the scalp

had healed up, the hair would cover the scar, leaving him to live a normal enough life without having to see the

scar every day. Itachi would be brought home for recovery where he'd be doted upon by his mother non-stop. The love of

a mother was unique in that the whole world seemingly stopped spinning for their sick child. Itachi had no memory

of what happened that night, but since then he was plagued by chronic headaches and bouts of brain fog where he would

lose his train of thought and be unable to get it back, much to his frustration. But outside of that, he could continue

his shinobi career, focus on making certain things second nature. His fatigue and insomnia along with other

disturbed sleep patterns made recovery hard. His mother tried to convince him to put his energies towards something

else besides being a shinobi. And so for the time being, he studied to become the chief of the Konoha police force,

something a little easier on his mind and body. Studying the laws, he began to accept that he was just going to live a

different kind of life. Now, these issues left Fugaku stressed, not because he was disappointed in his son, but

because he knew Itachi had a life ahead of him. Dreams he wanted to achieve and

now would be unable to pursue them due to the sacrifice he made, not only for his family, but for the village itself.

And what made it worse was nobody noticed it. Itachi was picked on in school for being an uchiha, the ones

responsible for what they believed to have been a premeditated attack. Rumors spread that it was an Uchiah who had

caused this attack to happen. And this was only made worse when rumors that the Ninetailes had been split in two and

that the Uchiah were in control of half of it started to spread. Riots began to form in Konoha. And in response, the

Uchia were pushed to the farthest corner of the village. Fugaku was steaming mad.

This wasn't just a simple scenario on the political landscape. Now, it was personal because it involved his sons,

both of which had made a heroic sacrifice for the village. And what made it worse was that rumors were starting

to spread that they would take Sasuke away from them. Best case scenario, Sasuke would be taken away from his

parents. Worst, he'd be stripped of the Ninetales and left to die. Fugaku was

fuming, so much so that he was all in on a coup. He was a man who felt like he

was losing everything and he would give everything, including his own life, to protect his children. As Sasuke grew

older, he found out quickly that people were cruel. From his own time in the academy, he was picked on by the other

kids. But out in the marketplace, he found himself mistreated. There was one time, I'll tell you about when Sasuke

finally lost his hope in Konoha, and the real world finally settled in. It was a weekend and Makoto had to go to the

market for supper. Sasuke followed her. "Mama, mama, there's a toy store over there. Can I go look?" he asked with a

wide grin on his face. Considering that she was stuck in line to pay for the produce, and that the toy store was well

within view of her, she thought it would be okay. "All right, you can go look, but promise me you won't throw a fit if

you see a toy you like, and I can't get it for you." Sasuke nodded. "Promise?" he said, ruffling his hair. She let him

go. Sasuke went off to the toy store to look at the things to put on his birthday and Christmas list. things he

really liked. And of course, being a small child, no older than six, he'd find a toy he liked and would want to

take it home with him. A small plush of the first Tokag Hashiama Senju. Its head

was massive, as were its eyes. And it would further possess a smile that warmed Sasuke's heart. Of course, he

would ask for it. He didn't know the price, but he'd ask. But he had already made sure in his heart that if Makoto

the other hand, would be paying for the produce. As soon as she finished, she turned around to see a commotion

forming, a crowd within the toy store. Immediately, Makoto knew it had to do with Sasuke, so she ran through to see

parents and adults ganging up on Sasuke. The riots had left people feeling unfulfilled, as if Konoha were dragging

its feet on making the decision they knew it needed to make. "Why are you even still around?" Makoto heard one of

the voices say. She pushed past the crowd to see her son pushed up against a wall. Literally cowering in a corner.

Like a superhero, she swooped in and rescued him. Turning back, her anger fueling her, she shouted, "You should be

ashamed of yourselves," she said, cornering and bullying a little boy. "You're all monsters." She pushed past

them, carrying Sasuke. "Ma'am, you can't leave with that," the store owner said. "You didn't pay." Makoto looked back to

see Sasuke still clutching the doll in his arms, holding it in a death grip. Makoto looked at the toy store owner.

with Sasuke as he cowered in her arms, trembling and shaking. Entering the house, she closed the door and locked it

alone. He would gather up Sasuke and leave him with a trusted friend so Fugaku could go pay bail. This wasn't

even that big of a deal. It wouldn't cost much and it wouldn't even be a real issue. This was just the effect of a

supposed to mean? Itachi asked. Nothing. Forget I said anything. He then moved on, but Itachi didn't forget. They

picked Sasuke up from the friend's house and brought him home. One day, Itachi was out at the river with Sasuke,

letting him play by the dock, watching him. Lo and behold, here came Naruto, just walking down the road. Sasuke and

Naruto had been acquaintances since they both joined the academy. Eventually, Naruto walked over and sat down with

him. Neither boy knew that they were both one side of the same coin. In a literal fashion, they were basically the

same person, each containing one half of the Ninetailes. Maybe that's what drew them together. And despite being a year

younger than the now 7-year-old Sasuke, Naruto still managed to be kind and sweet to him, talking with a heart that

seemed to display a wisdom well beyond his years. Itachi wasn't sure what Naruto said, but it must have struck a

chord because Sasuke turned and cried into his shoulder. It was hard to watch. Itachi wanted to step in and offer his

brother assurances, but instead he decided to simply let Naruto work. That's all he could do. In the end,

Fugaku had finally made a decision, and that decision was to overthrow the village. Something he could

theoretically do since he had the Ninetailes. With his sharing, he could easily control the beast. All he had to

do was open the seal on Sasuke. After casting him under Genjutsu, from there, he would use the power of the Ninetailes

and the might of the Uchiah clan to hold a coup, hopefully bloodless. Fugaku

would replace Hirozen as fifth Hokag and would begin to work to bring peace back to the Uchiah clan as well as the

shook his head. Sasuke won't. We're not letting the Ninetales out of him. We're keeping it sealed. We're just going to

is strong. He'll survive. He won't even know what happened. And then when everything is said and done, I will seal

when it would occur. Fugaku met for one final time to get the group prepared. The leaders of the clan were already in

their armor, and other able-bodied men were suiting up. They went over the plan with a fine-tuned comb. They simulated

Ninetailes's full presence to force a surrender. There were few Shinobi on par with Mato. And though many had come

close, none of them had ever attained a run-on sight order. Fugaku was one of the few who was close enough. With his

power and the might of the Uchiah Sharinggon, including the many Mongeko they had, they were willing and able to

accomplish this. And so with everything memorized, everyone was briefed and everything was in place. Fugaku made his

way back to his home with only the aids of his team involved. Fugaku found Sasuke snug in bed getting ready for

sleep. Makoto almost wanted to stop him, but did not. Instead, she went to hers and Fugaku's room to pray. not only for
