and after close examination they finally

individual through these surveillance

cameras they managed to trace her as she

walked around gambling and drinking

through the night right up to the moment

when she met The Tall Man and sat down

right beside him thankfully it wouldn't

take longed for investigators to

system investigators learned that room

matched the figure seen in the

surveillance footage analyzed in the

days prior leaving the hotel yuran

walked out out without returning the

room's key card and in the process he

had left the television on loud to make

it sound like someone was inside as

already mentioned earlier he also told

the hotel staff that Stephanie was

inside and sleeping and that furthermore

she should not be disturbed so

investigators knew that he was very

likely to be the man behind Stephanie's

death but where exactly did Juran go

after fleeing the hotel and that was

nowhere to be found and with a 72-hour

final appearance either despite doing

well in school Anita had repeatedly

stated that her son was a spoiled brat

and a habitual liar where his two

brothers were more level-headed

throughout their childhoods yuran was

turbulent stroppy and pompous he was

known for sneaking out out of the house

in the middle of the night and partying

at casinos right across the island so

you can already get a sense of what type

of person he was growing up to become

with everything in the world offered to

him and no one willing to discipline him

he was the type of person to believe

that the world revolved around his

existence yuran would do whatever he

wanted whenever he wanted and no one

ever bothered to check in on him or his

terrible actions because he was

performing so well in school and sports

what yes that was the life of yuran

always get his way and as he got older

this arrogance grew alongside his rather

tastes it was on the island of Aruba in

the Year 2005 that he met an American

girl named Natalie Holloway and after

taking her to the beach once the bars in

the local area had closed he tried to

tempt her into sax but when she refused

instead he kicked her in the head which

murder he invented a wild story about

armed robbers who were waiting for him

in his hotel room allegedly they then

killed Stephanie once she refused to be

story made up by a child but then again

with yuran I'm not that surprised on

June the 5th and once deported back to

began and after 2 days of being

interrogated and realizing that he had

no room to wriggle his way out of this

one Juran would finally confess to

Stephanie's murder in a written

statement yuran detailed the events of

when the murder took place he recounted

leaving the hotel to buy coffee and

bread but upon his return he noticed

Stephanie using his laptop she had seen

a message pop up on his desktop which

linked him to the case of Natalie

Holloway he then claimed that when he

tried to explain his involvement

Stephanie suddenly struck him an

altercation began she then tried to

escape but yuran was much bigger and

stronger than she was according to his

written confession yuran said I did not

want to do it the girl intruded into my

the hotel toxicology reports later

indicate that for whatever reason he was

lying about the amphetamines as none

were found to be present in his system

this in actuality was most likely

calculated rot by urin a tactic used to

lessen a sentence interesting fact but

influence of drugs can gain leniency in

the courtroom and juran's attorney

likely knew this and factored it into

their legal strategy on June the 11th

2010 the judge ordered yuran vandut to

be held on charges of robbery and first

deegree murder and after stating that he

had acted with both ferocity and great

cruelty and also knowing how much money

his family had behind him the judge did

not allow him to have the chance of bail

moving into his trial yuran was not to

be Tried by a jury but by a panel of

three judges instead once the trial

fearing for his life in the infamously

location of Natalie's body in exchange

for transfer to an Aruban prison but his

ignored now it's kind of obvious that

murdering a very powerful man's daughter

yeah that was definitely one of his

worst decisions murderers and abusers

such a corrupt system it is kind of

was so bloody terrified and so he waited

behind bars with fear while his defense

team did everything they could to help

build a case to support him between the

years of 2010 and 2012 his leading

attorney Maximo Navaro did everything in

his power to intimidate the prosecution

And Delay Court proceedings he was even

quoted as saying that his legal strategy

was to paralyze the process and make
20:20
everything as difficult as possible so

was his name Maximo Navaro or Maximo

pain in the

ass first he criticized juran's public

defender who represented him during his
20:32
interrogation charging her with abuse of

authority conspiracy to commit a crime

and misrepresentation he then attacked

the translator who helped Juran

translate Spanish to Dutch and then

questioned his credentials as a
20:44
court-appointed translator Navaro also

claimed that his client was being

unlawfully held before conviction and

although he knew that the proven

government allows for up to 18 months of

detainment for interrogation he

continued continued to fight back anyway

doing anything in his power to slow the

process to a grinding Hal in February of

2010 Navaro attempted to file a violent

emotion defense with the court claiming

that his client Juran was not

consciously in control of his actions

during the attack now if the judge would

have accepted this then yuran sentence

could have been reduced to a mere 3 to 5

years therefore meaning that his parole

would be as early as 20 months after but

despite Navarro's desperate attempts his

efforts were thankfully ultimately in

Vain by the time that 2012 rolled around

there was no way he was getting away

with this murder and so on January the

11th 2012 yuran vandero pleaded guilty

to the murder and robbery of Stephany

sentenced to 28 years behind bars and

further ordered to pay

$75,000 to the Flores family and so with

this punishment put in place so ends the

legal story of Stephanie's untimely
Justice for Stephany and Natalee

murder but this is not where our story

ends because as some of you will know

United States to face charges related to

the extortion of Natalie's parents

fearing for a sentence that would

surpass his lifespan he then agreed to

take a plea deal instead it was in this

moment in court and while under oath

that he gave the whole story of what

happened to Natalie Hollow way he then

further pleaded guilty to his charges of

extortion and wire fraud giving him 20

years behind bars after his sentence in

Peru in exchange for an exemption of any

murder charges brought forward over the

death of Natalie Holloway and as you

will know from my previous case this is

where he did in fact admit that he'd

murdered Natalie so what happens to your

and Vander slute now well for the next

short while he will remain back in Peru

where he must serve the rest of his

28-year sentence

which by the way will be completed in

June 2038 once this sentence is finally

over he will then be transferred to the

United States to begin the second

sentencing for the extortion of Natalie

Holloway's family this running from June

what will happen between now and then

but even in the short time behind bars

so far his father has tragically passed

away from a heart attack while playing

tennis in the end despite facing a very
