0:00 The students and families of this 0:01 primary school had no idea that one of 0:03 their teachers who was known to be a 0:05 kind-hearted and generous woman was 0:07 actually a cold-blooded murderer with an 0:09 alter ego named Tulip 22. And this story 0:12 highlights the depraved actions which 0:14 she hid from the world for several 0:16 months. Fiona Beal was described as one 0:18 of the best. Her students trusted her, 0:21 her colleagues supported her, and her 0:23 partner adored her. It's just a shame 0:25 that she would take his life in the most 0:27 betraying of ways. The thing is, nobody 0:30 suspected her involvement when he 0:31 suddenly disappeared. It was only after 0:34 sending a flurry of concerning text 0:36 messages that officers finally connected 0:38 the dots. And after tracking her down to 0:40 a small cabin in the heart of the 0:42 British countryside, they realized that 0:44 she, in fact, was his killer. But what 0:46 was her primary motive? How did she 0:48 murder Nick Billingham? And who is Tulip 0:52 22? Welcome, or welcome back to Coffee 0:55 House Crime, folks. My name is Adrian 0:57 and this story is a gruesome reminder 0:59 that sometimes those capable of murder 1:01 are the ones you least suspect. By the 1:03 way, Coffee House crime is all about 1:05 true crime, strange and chilling 1:06 stories. And the best way to support me 1:08 is by subscribing to the channel. So, if 1:10 true crime is your kind of thing, please 1:12 do consider subscribing. I also try to 1:14 respond to most comments in the first 1:16 hour of my videos going live. So, hit 1:18 the bell notification, too. You probably 1:20 know the drill already by now. So, in 1:22 that case, please grab yourself a coffee 1:24 and let's caffeinate while we 1:25 investigate. This is the case of Fiona 1:35 Beal. Howdy, folks. Today, we're heading Northampton 1:38 to a charming town in the heart of 1:40 England. And of course, I'm talking 1:42 about Northampton. Famous for its shoe 1:44 making, the town boasts its heritage to 1:46 shoe makers like Trickers and Crockett 1:48 and Jones. Apparently, it is said that 1:50 at one point in time, you couldn't throw 1:52 a stone without hitting a cobbler hard 1:54 at work. But beyond the leather and 1:57 laces, did you know that Northampton is 1:59 home to one of the oldest markets in the 2:01 country? The Northampton market dates 2:03 back more than 800 years, well before 2:05 the likes of Amazon and eBay. And as for 2:07 its market square, well, it has seen 2:10 everything from modern-day farmers 2:11 markets to medieval jousts. And speaking 2:14 of history, Northampton Castle once 2:16 stood proudly here, serving as a 2:18 significant stronghold during the Norman 2:21 era. That aside, Northampton also boasts 2:23 the stunning Althorp House, the 2:25 childhood home of Princess Diana, and is 2:27 home to the current premiership rugby 2:29 champions, the Northampton Saints. If 2:32 you ever find yourself wandering through 2:33 its cobblestone streets, then be sure to 2:35 check out sites like the beautiful Guild 2:37 Hall and Dea Abbey. Now, it may all just 2:40 look like a typical British city. 2:42 However, with hundreds of years worth of 2:44 history here, you will find plenty to Chilling Discovery 2:46 do. But on March the 19th, 2022, a 2:49 chilling new entry was written into 2:51 Northampton's diary. Because sadly, that 2:54 is when the partially mummified body of 2:56 a 42year-old male was found. He was 2:59 discovered in a makeshift grave in the 3:01 garden of a house on Moore Street. 3:03 Officers exposed to the body were forced 3:06 with a terrible sight. A post-mortem on 3:08 the man's decaying body determined that 3:10 the cause of his death was a stab wound 3:12 to the right hand side of his neck, 3:14 splitting the right jugular vein and 3:16 piercing the esophagus and trachea. With 3:19 an entry width of 3.7 cm and a depth of 3:22 6 cm, this would have had to be executed 3:25 with quite some force. And if it wasn't 3:28 obvious already, it was determined that 3:30 he had likely become the victim of a 3:32 gruesome homicide. After careful 3:34 analysis, the body was eventually 3:36 confirmed to belong to a local man named 3:39 Nicholas Billingham. Nicholas hadn't 3:41 been seen since November the year prior, 3:43 marking 4 months since his 3:45 disappearance. Of course, family and 3:47 friends were devastated to hear the 3:49 news, only comforted by the fact that he 3:52 no longer remained missing. But who 3:54 precisely was Nick Billingham? How did 3:57 his body end up buried in the home of 3:59 his own back garden? And despite this 4:01 proximity, how did he remain missing for 4:04 four entire months? Well, before we 4:07 answer these questions, let's first dive 4:09 back to his childhood and learn how he 4:11 ended up here. Born in the year 1979, Nick Billingham and FIona Beal 4:15 Nicholas was the first child of Avon 4:17 Valentine and his father. Sadly, not 4:20 much is known about Nick's childhood, so 4:22 I can't report much on his background. 4:24 However, his mother would say that he 4:26 was a loving child with a very cheeky 4:28 smile. One who was loved by his friends 4:30 and family and as he entered his adult 4:32 years was loved by his colleagues too. 4:35 Nick went on to work as a builder in the 4:37 Northampton area where he soon met the 4:39 future mother of his child, Andrea 4:41 Fardon. Without marriage, their on 4:43 andoff relationship resulted in the 4:45 birth of their son in the year 2019. 4:47 Andrea would later describe Nick as a 4:49 bit of a lad, but not a bad person. He 4:52 was the sort of guy who tried to keep 4:54 everybody happy. In addition to this, 4:56 Nick had been in a relationship for the 4:58 last 17 years with a woman named Fiona 5:01 Beal. And this woman is extraordinarily 5:03 important to our case today. So, take 5:06 note here. At the time of Nick's death 5:08 and discovery, Fiona Beal was 49 years 5:11 old. She was a highly respected primary 5:13 school teacher who worked at 5:14 Northampton's Eastfield Academy, a 5:16 primary school providing education for 5:18 students between the ages of 2 and 11 5:21 years old. Fiona was well known to 5:23 students and their families. She was 5:25 trusted to look after their children and 5:28 was described as a kind and caring 5:30 woman. Clare Mills, who was the head 5:32 teacher of Eastfield Academy, met Fiona 5:34 in the year 2014 when they began to work 5:36 together at Kings Heath Academy. She 5:38 described Fiona as a strong and very 5:41 capable teacher, one who was one of the 5:43 very best in the area. Her strength as a 5:45 teacher was building relationships with 5:47 children who needed additional support 5:49 and time, suggesting that Fiona was 5:51 actually the compassionate and patient 5:53 type of person. Fiona thoroughly loved 5:56 her job, as seen in this video with her 5:58 dancing in front of her students. So, 6:00 when she suddenly failed to show up to 6:02 work one day on November the 1st, 2021, 6:05 her absence was strongly noticed, an 6:08 absence that would extend for more than 6:10 10 days afterwards. 6:13 It was learned that in the months 6:14 leading up to Nick's disappearance, both 6:16 he and Fiona had been undergoing couples 6:18 counseling for a multitude of reasons. 6:21 Now, Fiona had her own fair share of 6:23 shortcomings. But as for Nick, well, he 6:25 had just admitted to having an affair 6:27 with another woman, and this was sure to 6:29 leave Fiona devastated. Now, for some, 6:31 affairs are enough to absolutely 6:33 terminate a relationship, while others 6:35 try to fix the bond that they once had. 6:37 It was during this time that Nick wrote 6:39 about Fiona as kind-hearted, generous, 6:41 and the most beautiful woman in the 6:43 world. And he seemed to have genuine 6:45 remorse for his actions. He went on to 6:47 say, "I promise to never again belittle 6:50 you or make you feel rubbish. I love you 6:52 with all of my heart. My love has been 6:55 yours since the day I met you and will 6:57 be until the day I die." Now, their 7:00 relationship always had problems. 7:02 However, it does seem that time slowly 7:05 eroded their bond. When CO struck, they 7:08 were furowed and confined to their home 7:10 where petty arguments would often erupt 7:12 into fights. There seemed to be issues 7:14 around sex and money and basically 7:17 everything in between. But despite this, 7:19 the two did try to make things work. 7:21 Tragically, if only Nick knew what was 7:24 right around the 7:26 corner. November the 1st, 2021. It was a November 1st 2021 7:30 Monday and relatively mild for a 7:32 winter's day. After working on a house 7:34 renovation in Northampton, Nick returned 7:37 to the home he shared with Fiona on More 7:39 Street. Fiona, on the other hand, was 7:41 apparently signed off work sick. 7:43 Allegedly, she had contracted CO, 7:46 meaning that she was restricted from 7:48 attending school for the next 10 days. 7:50 Instead, she spent most of her day at 7:52 home smoking a large amount of cannabis. 7:55 And as for her evening, she had grand 7:58 plans on her mind. After returning home, 8:01 Nick was lured into the bathroom by his 8:03 girlfriend. Fiona had prepared a hot 8:05 bath for him with the promise of sex 8:08 after he had cleaned himself up and 8:09 relaxed a little bit. Unfortunately, 8:12 little did he know that her motives were 8:14 far from loving. Shrouded in deceit and 8:17 darkness, Fiona concealed a knife in her 8:19 dressing gown pocket. And once he was in 8:22 the bath, she placed this knife in a 8:24 drawer next to the bed that they shared 8:26 along with a chisel, a bin bag, and 8:29 dozens of cable ties. Fiona then draped 8:32 herself on the bed, waiting for Nick to 8:34 finish his bath. And after he entered 8:36 the bedroom, she then convinced him to 8:39 slip on an eye mask. She told him that 8:41 she was feeling rather kinky that 8:43 evening and wanted to tie him up to the 8:45 bed. And so, being a typical guy, that 8:48 is precisely what happened. Nick liked 8:51 where this was going. He gladly put the 8:53 mask on and allowed her to secure his 8:55 wrists to the bed frame. However, that 8:58 is when the promising scene turned into 9:00 a painful and confusing nightmare. 9:02 Blinded by the eye mask, Nick was then 9:05 suddenly struck in the neck with a 9:06 knife. Fiona had shanked him with cold 9:09 precision, severing his jugular vein in 9:12 a single deadly blow. The pain that Nick 9:14 would have experienced would have been 9:16 absolutely enormous. And in a shocked 9:19 and suffocating voice, he muttered the 9:21 word, "Why?" In her deluded mind, Fiona 9:24 responded by saying that she would never 9:26 let him hurt another woman again. Just 9:29 moments later, his life faded away 9:32 underneath her. Following his death, 9:34 Fiona decided to wrap Nick's body in a 9:36 plastic sheet. But with him weighing a 9:38 fair amount more than she did, this 9:40 would take a considerable amount of time 9:42 to complete. After that, she then 9:44 proceeded to drag his body down the 9:46 stairs, damaging the banisters in the 9:48 process. And once downstairs, she 9:50 carried his body into the garden, 9:52 placing him in an area which was not too 9:54 visible to the neighbors. Rather Conceal and Deceive 9:56 inconveniently, the neighbors were 9:57 undergoing several renovations at the 9:59 time, meaning that both Fiona and Nick 10:01 had less privacy in their garden. She 10:03 then proceeded to dig what can only be 10:05 described as a makeshift grave. This 10:07 rather grim burial site was made of 10:09 several materials, including plastic 10:11 sheets, badly mixed concrete, breeze 10:14 blocks, and compost. But Fiona would not 10:16 stop there because she unfortunately had 10:18 to add more material in order to fill up 10:20 the hole she'd created. So that is when 10:23 she went to the local store. Soon 10:25 enough, Fiona was spotted on CCTV at the 10:27 local BNQ buying 10 50 L bags of 10:30 compost, 10 22 1/2 kg bags of Cotswwell 10:34 stone, and a gray plastic trough. Fiona 10:37 did not have to worry about the time 10:38 constraints here. She had meticulously 10:40 planned this by forging a fake COVID 10:42 test for school, meaning that she was 10:44 forced to take 10 days off of work. 10:47 After burying Nick's body, she then 10:49 painted over his blood splatters, which 10:51 were left all over the bedroom. She then 10:53 rearranged furniture in the living room 10:55 to block off and obscure the view of his 10:57 grave, and even went as far as burning 10:59 Nick's belongings in an incinerator in 11:01 the garden. Nick's blood had seeped into 11:04 the mattress during the murder. So Fiona 11:06 concealed this by carelessly hiding it 11:08 in the basement. She then further 11:10 checked that no other items or evidence 11:12 were left behind in the gruesome 11:14 aftermath. And with that said, she felt 11:16 confident that no one would find out how 11:19 he had died. That is when she began her 11:21 efforts to conceal his fate from all who 11:23 knew him. Because as you can imagine, it 11:26 didn't take long for Nick's family or 11:28 friends to wonder where he had gone. As 11:30 the days turned into weeks and the weeks 11:32 into months, his body remained 11:34 undiscovered. All despite being morbidly 11:37 close to the house that he once loved 11:39 and called home. It was during this time 11:41 that Fiona painted an entirely different 11:43 perspective to the situation. In fact, 11:46 despite being a cold-blooded murderer, 11:48 she would make herself out to be the 11:50 victim. She claimed that not only was he 11:52 alive and well, but furthermore, he had 11:54 actually left her for another woman. And 11:56 given his recent history, this story was 11:59 not too difficult to believe. It was 12:01 during this time that she sent messages 12:02 from his phone to friends and family, 12:04 pretending to be him and creating the 12:06 illusion he was okay. And to add to her 12:08 sick and deceitful nature, Fiona herself 12:11 would invite his very own mother around 12:13 for drinks, telling her stories while 12:15 his decomposing body lay only a few 12:17 meters away. I walked in the house into 12:21 the living room and the first thing I 12:23 thought I said, "Oh, have you had a 12:26 turnound of you know furniture all looks 12:29 different." Fiona offered me a Christmas 12:33 drink. I said, "Oh, thank thank you." 12:35 So, we sat there. I sat there with this 12:37 drink and it always gets to me because I 12:40 think Nick was in the buried in the 12:43 garden just few feet away and I didn't 12:46 know he was there. I try not to think 12:49 about it too much, but when I do, it 12:51 just it's sort of draining. It's Yeah. 12:54 horrible. 12:56 Fiona would eventually return to work on 12:59 November the 12th. While there, she 13:01 confided in Clare Mills and told her 13:03 that apparently Nick had left her for 13:05 another woman. She further explained 13:07 that Nick had become quote particularly 13:10 unpleasant. And so, she told him to 13:12 leave the property and never come back. 13:14 She told another colleague that she 13:16 wanted to buy Nick out of the mortgage, 13:18 but apparently he tried to keep the 13:20 house in both of their names. 13:22 Interestingly enough, her colleague 13:24 would also say how keen Fiona was to get 13:26 back to work and how she appeared to be 13:29 quote just the same as before. On 13:31 December the 10th, more than 1 month 13:33 after his disappearance, the teachers of 13:35 Eastfield Academy went to Lumberub's pub 13:38 in Boothville to celebrate Christmas. 13:40 While there, Fiona was described as 13:42 being jolly and thoroughly enjoying 13:44 herself throughout the entire evening. 2 13:47 months later, on February the 24th, 13:49 2022, she was described as being upbeat 13:52 as she took her class on a school trip 13:54 to the Royal Opera House in London. 13:56 Nobody noticed anything different until 13:58 a few days later when all of a sudden 14:01 she stopped coming in to work. That is 14:03 when on March the 8th, 2022, she sent 14:06 the headteer, Clare Mills, the following 14:08 text message. Hi Cla, I can't talk right 14:11 now. Things aren't right. I am so sorry 14:14 to let you down. I won't be in work this 14:17 week and I will call as soon as I am 14:18 able to. Her message to Clare seemed to 14:21 concern her quite significantly and so 14:24 with fear and curiosity, she urged Fiona 14:27 to get in touch with her so the two 14:29 could talk about it. However, Fiona 14:31 failed to reply. Instead, she fell 14:34 silent. 14:42 But Clare was not going to give up that 14:44 easily. Instead, she called Fiona's 14:47 mother, who seemed to be somewhat 14:49 surprised to hear from her. You see, 14:51 Fiona had given her mom an entirely 14:54 different story. She told her that she 14:56 had been asked to go on a residential 14:57 course due to staff illness. So, when 15:00 Clare informed her that this wasn't the 15:02 case, both of them knew that something 15:04 was up. and so concerned for her 15:07 well-being, the two confronted her about 15:09 her inconsistencies. That is when Fiona 15:12 responded with, "I am sorry. I won't be 15:15 back. I need more time and space to 15:17 think. I'm sorry for letting you down." 15:20 With this information at hand, Clare 15:22 decided to contact the local 15:23 authorities. That is when the officers 15:26 were instructed to perform a welfare 15:27 check at the property. But after 15:29 reaching the home that she shared with 15:31 Nick, they were met with silence. It 15:33 became clear that whatever was 15:35 happening, they needed to act fast. Her 15:37 mental health seemed to be 15:39 deteriorating, evident through the 15:41 worrying messages and fabricated stories 15:43 sent to family and colleagues. And so, 15:46 with that said, they got to work on 15:48 tracking her down. It wasn't until March Finding Fiona (Tulip-22) 15:51 the 15th that officers finally tracked 15:53 her down. Fiona had holed herself up in 15:55 a holiday home over in Cumbria, and that 15:58 is where she had tried to take her own 16:00 life. However, after failing to leave 16:02 this world on her own terms, she was 16:04 instead transported to the local 16:05 hospital where she sought immediate 16:07 medical treatment. And this is where our 16:09 story takes a rather bizarre turn. 16:12 Because after performing a search on the 16:13 cabin, detectives found an extremely 16:16 concerning journal. It was within this 16:18 journal that Fiona revealed her deepest 16:20 and darkest secrets. Not only confessing 16:22 her crimes, but also revealing her weird 16:25 dark alter ego, also known as Tulip 22. 16:30 In this journal, she said the following. 16:32 I have to confess. Okay, here goes. He 16:35 spat on me and threatened me during sex. 16:38 The things he said and did fueled my 16:40 dark side. I call her Tulip 22. She's 16:44 reckless, fearless, and efficient, 16:46 ruthless. I started plotting as Tulip 22 16:50 after he had gone to bed. I could no 16:52 longer sleep in the bed due to my 16:54 breathing being so loud or I moved too 16:56 much or I was snoring or etc, etc. I 16:59 would go downstairs after sex and even 17:02 when I was unwell. I got used to 17:04 sleeping downstairs and waited for him 17:06 to go to bed and then got high and let 17:08 Tulip 22 out. I knew I couldn't let him 17:11 get away with it. Halloween sealed it. 17:14 He was vile. I sat on the kitchen floor 17:17 and wept as I witnessed the abuse I had 17:19 allowed to happen. I allowed so much bad 17:22 to happen. That night, I planned. CO 17:26 rules meant I had a guaranteed 10-day 17:28 isolation period from positive symptoms. 17:30 I called Clare on the Monday and said 17:32 we'd tested positive and had symptoms. 17:35 He went to work. Tulip 22 smoked and 17:38 planned. I planned it mentally so many 17:41 times before. November the 1st, I had 17:44 smoked all day. I had a bath. I left the 17:46 water in. He had been pushing for sex. I 17:49 encouraged the bath with the incentive 17:51 of sex afterwards. While he was in the 17:53 bath, I kept the knife in my dressing 17:55 gown pocket and then hid it in the 17:56 drawer next to the bed. I brought a 17:59 chisel, bin bag, and cable ties up, too. 18:01 I got him to wear an eye mask. It was 18:04 harder than I thought it would be. 18:05 Hiding his body was bad. Moving a body 18:08 is much more difficult than it looks on 18:10 TV. I started to believe the cover 18:12 story. Flashes interrupted. 18:15 Now, I don't know about you, but for a 18:18 teacher, Fiona could have done a much 18:20 better job at constructing a coherent 18:22 story with better English. Needless to 18:25 say, these journals were extraordinarily 18:27 concerning for officers, and they 18:29 triggered detectives to conduct a more 18:31 extensive investigation back at her 18:33 property. The fact that Nick had not 18:35 been seen for multiple months and was 18:37 now the subject of her dark confessions 18:39 left plenty of room for the imagination. 18:42 And following this discovery, they of 18:44 course requested a search warrant for 18:46 the address. After arriving, they 18:48 noticed the oddly placed furniture 18:50 obstructing the back garden door. And 18:52 after making their way into the garden, 18:55 they noticed the unusually placed rocks 18:57 and earth. Officers decided to check 19:00 what was underneath. Armed with a 19:02 forensic team, they carefully lifted the 19:04 recently settled earth and rocks. And 19:07 tragically, that is when they found his 19:09 partially mummified body. And with Nick 19:11 finally found, all eyes were now on 19:14 Fiona. With Fiona in hospital, she was 19:17 arrested as soon as she was deemed fit 19:19 to be discharged. And several months Legal Proceedings 19:21 later, her trial would begin on March 19:23 the 13th, 2023. That is where at 19:26 Northampton Crown Court with Judge 19:28 Adrien Lucking Casey presiding, her case 19:30 began. Taking the middle ground, Fiona 19:32 initially pleaded guilty to the less 19:34 serious offense of manslaughter by 19:37 reason of a loss of control. However, 19:39 she would stop and deny her more severe 19:41 charge of murdering Nick Billingham. 19:43 Fiona's trial was extraordinarily long 19:46 and fraught with bureaucratic issues. In 19:48 fact, after 64 days, her trial was 19:51 abandoned when it emerged that a key 19:53 defense witness was a court custody 19:55 officer who had conducted welfare checks 19:57 on her while in the south. As a result, 20:00 Judge Adrien Lucking demanded that a new 20:03 trial be held on a different date and 20:05 with a different jury. That new date was 20:07 determined to be March the 25th, 2024 at 20:10 the Old Bailey in London. Once again, 20:12 Fiona denied murdering Nick, instead 20:15 claiming it was manslaughter. However, 20:17 after learning that the evidence 20:18 mounting up against her was simply far 20:21 too significant to overcome, she 20:23 eventually pleaded guilty to murder on 20:25 April the 26th, 2024. Upon her 20:27 sentencing, Judge Mark Lucraftoft said, 20:30 "You now accept through your plea that 20:32 not only did you kill Nick Billingham, 20:34 but that you intended to do so, too. 20:37 There is a wealth of evidence 20:38 demonstrating your plans to kill him, 20:41 taking elaborate steps to hide his body, 20:43 and then having done so, going to great 20:46 lengths seeking to make sure that what 20:47 you had done would not easily be 20:49 uncovered. In my judgment, the sentence 20:52 is one of life imprisonment." While 20:55 receiving the sentence, Fiona hung her 20:57 head in shame. Her representative 20:59 explained how she had suffered traumatic 21:01 amnesia following the incident and that 21:03 she also did express remorse in her 21:05 journal entries. But Fiona would not let 21:08 her trial end without making herself out 21:10 to be the victim, one who was torn apart 21:13 by a man who supposedly ruined 21:17 her. While in court, she read out the 21:20 following. I am eternally sorry. I am 21:23 sorry for a lot. I am sorry I didn't 21:25 leave. I am sorry I let him rip my 21:27 self-esteem and selfworth apart. I am 21:30 sorry but I let him control me. I am 21:33 sorry I took him back. I am sorry I am 21:36 weak. I am sorry for what I did. Now it 21:39 is worth noting here that Fiona merely 21:41 claims Nick's questionable behavior with 21:43 no significant evidence or weighting to 21:45 her allegations. Furthermore, there are 21:48 no witnesses to support her claims and 21:50 she never reported his behavior to the 21:52 police before his death. It is likely 21:55 that Fiona is still refusing to take 21:57 full accountability for her actions and 22:00 is trying to soften the damage done to 22:02 her reputation by claiming that he was 22:04 partially to blame. While on the 22:06 discussion of allegations, Fiona created 22:09 an evil web of lies and deceit in order 22:11 to preserve her own reputation in front 22:14 of her own family and friends. All while 22:16 simultaneously portraying Nick in a bad 22:18 light to his loved ones. She further 22:21 burned all of his possessions, 22:23 essentially eradicating his entire 22:25 existence from his mother's life. To 22:27 further disrespect his death, Fiona 22:29 disposed of Nick with supplies that were 22:32 purchased with his own money. And if 22:34 that wasn't enough, she even went on to 22:36 purchase a vibrator with his own cash. 22:39 It is obvious that despite her timid 22:41 facade, she was actually a wolf in 22:43 sheep's clothing. And with that said, 22:46 Fiona Beiel was officially sentenced to 22:48 life in prison with a minimum term of 20 22:50 years before she is eligible for parole. 22:53 Following her sentencing, Nick's mother, 22:55 Ivonne Valentine, read a heartfelt 22:57 statement to the public. And with 22:59 Fiona's case attracting nationwide 23:01 attention, this was broadcast on 23:02 multiple news sites. Today, our family 23:06 welcomes the lengthy sentence handed 23:09 down by the court to Fiona Beiel for the 23:12 brutal murder of our son Nick Billingham 23:14 in November 2021. Nothing will ever make 23:18 up for the pain we have suffered for the 23:20 now more than 2 and 1/2 years since. But 23:23 at least we can sleep safe in the 23:25 knowledge that Bill will be locked away 23:27 for many years during which she will 23:30 have more than enough time to reflect on 23:32 her actions. She has demonstrated 23:35 extraordinary evil. Behind her facade as 23:38 a kindly school teacher, she was 23:40 secretly planning the coldblooded 23:42 killing of Nick. Be is pure evil. A 23:46 monster who must now spend many years 23:49 ahead of her asking why she killed my 23:52 Nick. A good father, a good friend, and 23:56 a much loved son. So, I think it's Why? 23:59 rather important here to acknowledge 24:00 Fiona's emotions to better understand 24:02 where her depraved actions came from. 24:04 Fiona was in a relationship with Nick 24:06 for more than two entire decades. And 24:08 although the relationship was rather 24:10 patchy, there is a formidable amount of 24:12 love, support, comfort, and emotion 24:15 between these two people. It must have 24:17 been extraordinarily difficult for Fiona 24:19 to realize that Nick had fathered a 24:21 child with another woman. And for that, 24:23 some empathy must be felt. However, that 24:26 is where the line should have been drawn 24:27 because Fiona should have responded to 24:29 this situation with compassion for 24:31 herself rather than revenge. To take 24:33 matters into her own hands and end 24:35 another person's life is quite honestly 24:38 unforgivable, no matter what the 24:40 circumstances are and the emotions felt 24:42 at the time. Furthermore, for her to 24:44 decide to murder Nick in the manner that 24:46 she chose is quite honestly absolutely 24:48 barbaric. And through the promise of 24:50 closeness and intimacy, she murdered him 24:52 in a way that guaranteed both pain and 24:56 suffering. There was nothing that Nick Remembering Nick, Outro 24:58 could have done to prevent his death. By 25:00 the time he realized he was in trouble, 25:02 it was sadly all too late. Being 25:05 restrained and blinded, there was no 25:07 possible way he could have seen this 25:09 coming, especially from someone he loved 25:11 and trusted. Nick Billingham was taken 25:14 long, long before his time. And although 25:16 nobody claims that he was perfect, he 25:19 was still a generous and caring man who 25:21 made friends everywhere he went, he was 25:24 known for being the glue that kept 25:26 everyone together. And now, thanks to 25:28 his cold-hearted killer, he is forever 25:30 lost to the world. His mother will never 25:33 get to hug her son again. His sister 25:36 will never have the opportunity to talk 25:38 to her brother, and his son will grow up 25:40 without a father. 25:44 So, I think I'm going to wrap this case 25:46 up here today, folks. I think that 25:47 pretty much covers the story of Fiona 25:49 Beal. Before you go, though, I'd love to 25:51 know what you think about this story. 25:52 Was this manslaughter or cold-blooded 25:55 calculated murder?
