0:00 on March the 22nd 2018 a farmer's evening meal was abruptly ended when he 0:05 saw a distressed and injured young woman come running to his front door she claimed to have been attacked though she 0:12 couldn't remember her name or who had assaulted her in a panic the Pharma called 911 to help give her the medical 0:18 attention she required but unknown to him at the time this young woman was hiding more than a few dark secrets and 0:26 unfortunately he would find himself caught in the middle of it wel or welcome back to Coffee House crime folks 0:32 my name is Adrien and today we're looking at a nomadic instagrammer and murderer who still thinks she's the 0:37 center of the universe before you begin please do consider subscribing to see more True Crime strange and chilling 0:43 stories and now with that said please grab yourself a coffee and let's caffeinate while we investigate this is 0:49 the case of Ezra 0:58 mandas nestled in the the heart of Wisconsin is a small yet vibrant City known for its Scenic Beauty rivers and 1:05 cultural scene with a population of around 70,000 it offers A Perfect Blend of small town charm and urban amenities 1:12 making it a vibrant hub for residents and visitors alike outdoor enthusiasts are drawn to O Clair's abundant natural 1:19 beauty and if you step inside the city its stories are passed down over cups of coffee at all the local coffee houses 1:26 and there is one particular story that one particular coffee house cannot seem to forget mainly because the two are so 1:33 intertwined and today we're diving into that story and its most horrific Secrets 1:39 it was on the afternoon of March the 22nd 2018 and located deep in the rural 1:44 fields of springb Township that a 90-year-old man was settling down for his evening meal taking a seat he peered 1:51 up to look through his front window and that is when he saw a woman running up to his front porch before then 1:57 frantically ringing the doorbell a total seven times the woman was crying screaming and visibly injured and she 2:04 was covered in mud blood and bruises in a panic he let the woman Inside who claimed to have been attacked she 2:11 couldn't remember who assaulted her and neither could she remember her name all that she asked was for the man to take 2:17 her to the hospital as a result he dialed 911 and this is what was said 911 2:23 what's the address of the emergency I have a a young lady that just came to my house and somebody attacked her and she 2:29 needs a doctor her clothes are all torn and okay and is she injured yeah she's 2:37 injured her her mouth is kind of uh got some blood around it and her to clothes 2:42 are all torn okay and she's by herself she's by herself she walked to my house 2:47 here just recently okay and can you ask her what her name is what's your name 2:53 ma'am what you don't know [Music] 3:01 she's in kind of bad shape she just says she don't know officers would eventually discover 3:07 that the woman identified herself by the name of Ezra mandas but although she could now remember her name she couldn't 3:13 recall what precisely happened now quite naturally this pequ their interest because although assaults are sadly all 3:19 too common it was very unusual for a victim to forget their attacker let alone their own name as a result Ezra 3:25 was then transported to a local hospital where she then requested that she could see her boyfriend friend Jason mangle 3:31 now Jason he was absolutely devastated to see Ezra in such a bad way but he too 3:36 would have some questions and that was valid because not everything was as it seemed however before we dive into the 3:42 world and Web of Lies of Ezra M candas let's first take a look at her history and the key people in her life born on 3:49 October the 6th 1997 Ezra's name at Birth was actually mon K and she had a 3:55 somewhat tumultuous upbringing which was marked by challenges in her own personal and family life for example Ezra's 4:01 mother was only 14 years old when she had her meaning that unfortunately her childhood was destined to be problematic 4:09 now although she initially had no father figure her mom would eventually get into a relationship with a man named joshan 4:15 who adopted Ezra as if she were his own but sadly even this wouldn't last forever and her parents divorced several 4:22 years later when she was just the age of 12 during high school she began experimenting with different names and 4:28 pronouns eventually leading her to change her name to Ezra mandas by the way she Drew this inspiration from Chris 4:35 mandas who is the main character of the book and film into the wild also known by the pseudonym Alexander Super [ __ ] 4:42 Chris was an American adventurer who embraced an increasingly nomadic lifestyle as he grew up so I guess you 4:49 could say that Ezra saw herself as some sort of nomadic Adventurer addressing the pronoun part Ezra experimented with 4:55 her identity throughout high school and then into her adult years which by the way will be important later in our story 5:02 but the bottom line here is that she often refers to herself as a boy and a girl kind of obvious in this story here 5:09 but Ezra was always destined to stand out that is why at the young age of 16 she dropped out of school and then moved 5:15 away to the city of oakair in Wisconsin from here on out she tried to become an artist despite not actually being good 5:22 at it but for those of you who are still interested you can find her Instagram over at dirt fiend where she constantly 5:29 posts selfies and other pretentious slop either way Ezra was renowned for her 5:34 artistic Spirits she had a passion for painting sketching and crafting Creations that mirrored her in a 5:40 landscape her art was characterized by Vivid colors and Abstract motives offering a glimpse into her distinctive 5:46 outlook on life if that's what we can call it those who knew her would often speak about her being charismatic deeply 5:53 sentimental and someone with a remarkable ability to connect with other people but life in the bigger city was 5:59 Far different from her usual hometown of Stanley and although oakair is hardly the size of most American cities it is 6:06 still far more urban than what she was used to I can relate here those first few months in a new city will really 6:12 take it out of you regardless by the summer of 2017 she seems to be settling well into her new environment and that 6:18 is when she would meet 33-year-old Jason mangle and this brings us to the Anchor of our story today welcome to racy's 6:26 coffee house now Rey's is not your average coffee shop here it's a welcoming blend of nostalgia comfort and 6:32 quirkiness backed by some of the best drinks you can find in town and its 4.7 star rating certainly does back that up 6:40 the place is best described as a Melting Pot where people meet from all walks of life over food and coffee so with such 6:47 an open environment it didn't take long for Jason and Ezra to strike up a conversation and that would happen when 6:53 the two found themselves sitting on the benches outside of races after closing time they started talking about about 6:59 her art and before they knew it they'd shared each other's Instagram profiles fast forward a couple weeks and the two 7:06 were romantically intertwined now Jason is quite an interesting character he was a medic serving in the Army Reserve 7:13 living in oair for quite some time but never straying too far away from his hometown he knew many of the locals but 7:20 when he first set his eyes upon Ezra he instantly fell in love with her he liked 7:25 to say that she kept him energized and she was full of surprises at almost twice her age Jason probably shouldn't 7:31 have been messing around with the 19-year-old either way the two would then start a romantic and sexual 7:37 relationship and move in together the following month not even one month later she was pregnant and then not even 1 7:43 month after that she decided to have an abortion on her birthday of all days go figure so Ezra is already off to a bad 7:50 start here but unfortunately it gets even worse way worse in fact believe me 7:56 we're only just scratching the surface here and that's because despite still maintaining a relationship with Jason 8:02 she then decided to start an affair with a man named Alex Woodworth the awkward part is that Jason already knew who Alex 8:09 was because the two were actually good friends and that's because Alex was actually a barista who was already 8:15 working at R's coffee house where all three of them would regularly mingle so when Jason found out that one of his 8:21 best friends was having an affair with his girlfriend all of this got extremely messy born on January the 1st 1994 Alex 8:30 was much closer to Ezra's age he was one of four children born to his parents John and Kim Woodworth moving into his 8:36 teenage years he attended ofel high school before then graduating in the year 2012 he furthered his education at 8:43 the University of Wisconsin oair before receiving his bachelor's degree in philosophy and biology in the spring of 8:50 2017 at the time of meeting Ezra Alex was planning to attend the University of Oregon for his master's degree in 8:56 philosophy he was also a tutor on campus and taught philosophy classes at the local high school which was in addition 9:02 to his coffee shop job so it's safe to say that Alexander loved to keep busy he enjoyed reading being at the coffee shop 9:09 and helping other people and especially loved the time spent with his family and friends and had dreams to become a 9:16 professor at the University of Oregon as you can probably imagine when Jason learned of Alex and erra's Affair he was 9:23 absolutely Furious but surprisingly he handled it quite well in fact the only 9:28 one who didn't was Ezra herself after being confronted about her infidelity she abandoned both Alex and Jason both 9:36 of which who were left rather shell shocked and perplexed by February of 2018 Jason's relationship with Ezra had 9:43 entirely Fallen apart but luckily he was able to keep himself occupied which was 9:48 sure to happen once he was deployed on 2 weeks of National Guard Duty with no home to go to Ezra decided to return to 9:56 her mother's house in Stanley but absence truly does make make the heart grow F and by mid-February the two were 10:03 back at it again meeting in random hotel rooms for some rekindling and some fun 10:08 something that Jason would later describe as a moment of weakness it was during one of those Hotel visits that 10:14 Jason made the unwise decision to read Ezra's text messages and through that moment he learned that Not only was she 10:21 still having sexual relations with Alex but she was also having another affair with a man named John Hansen the plot 10:29 really does thicken here because not only were Alex and Jason friends but JN was friends with both of them too in 10:36 addition to this Ezra claimed that it's not actually what Jason thought and that 10:41 actually Jon had allegedly assaulted her once again Jason was Furious and decided 10:47 to help Ezra return to the authorities where she then attended an interview and claimed that she had been taken 10:52 advantage of while she was drunk would you tell Jason what happened I told 10:58 everything okay but at that time and the happened you didn't tell him okay so as far as 11:04 you know is he just grabbed by the throat and then you the head off and 11:09 each one caus you to hetal breathing so after John left and Jason came home John 11:15 left when did that take place that the next day the same day it 11:20 was I think it was a couple days later when Jason had to leave for drill 11:26 because he's in the Army okay and John wanted me to come over to his house to talk about everything and talk 11:33 about stuff and he bought wine and things and I thought it would be okay to 11:40 have some wine and just try to talk and try to understand what was going on and then I got really really really drunk 11:48 almost black up drunk and I was throwing up he had me go upstairs when I started 11:53 throwing up and he took me upstairs and he put me in his bed and I was throwing 11:58 up I just remember a lot of I don't know it's a big mess of a bunch of fumbling 12:04 and stuff it awful it was days after this interview she then 12:12 texted Alex to say that she would never speak to him again and that furthermore she was trying to repair her 12:18 relationship with Jason however an investigation conducted by the authorities would reveal a lot of 12:24 conflicting evidence after searching through her phone records the officers realized that she had sent JN dozens of 12:31 sexually suggested text messages and as you can see here she was the main one 12:36 doing the flirting and when they talked to Alex well he claimed that she had happily told him that she and JN were 12:43 having consensual sex so did she really get taken advantage 12:48 of the assault case against John Hansen was ultimately abandoned as was Jason's 12:53 determination to rekindle anything with Ezra but quite simply he had had enough that therefore ending their relationship 13:00 and to be honest I'm not surprised in the slightest because put quite bluntly she was one giant red flag by now the 13:07 relationships between Ezra Jason John and Alex had all essentially been obliterated and she had destroyed the 13:13 friendship between all three men this was a very tumultuous time for Jason who essentially had lost his best friend 13:19 Alex to his girlfriend's infidelity and to quote him directly I no longer liked 13:25 him but I still loved him now of course with so much drama between the four the community around them and more 13:31 specifically races all began to talk however nothing would prepare them or the city of oakair for what was just 13:38 about to unfold after waking up early on the 13:43 morning of March the 22nd Jason set some time aside to do his laundry driving 13:49 back and forth between his home and the laundromat on his bike he then decided to stop by at races although he and Ezra 13:56 had officially broken up the two would still manag to call each other and catch up over wellness check pretty much every 14:02 day it was through those calls that Ezra told him that she planned to stay in Stanley for the foreseeable future so 14:09 you can probably understand why Jason was surprised when he saw her back at the local coffee house by now Jason knew 14:17 Ezra pretty well and he recognized that she seemed to be fired up and quite mentally occupied something didn't seem 14:24 right here and that concern would etch itself into his mind the longer the morning procceed did worried that 14:30 something might be a Jason then got on his bike and cycled around town to try and find her she had recently complained 14:37 about Alex on Instagram telling Jason that she planned to return his stuff and then never speak to him again she also 14:44 warned that she would not hesitate to punch him and so Jason decided to check his place first his hunch was correct 14:51 because after cycling to Alex's apartment he found Ezra's car idle in the driveway now Jason knew that this 14:58 wasn't good news news and so he decided to start his own investigation after waiting for the best part of an hour he 15:05 then knocked on the front door before heading upstairs to see what the two were doing to his surprise Alex and Ezra 15:11 were absolutely fine they appeared calm were not in distress or pain and were discussing a healthy end to their 15:18 friendship they also agreed that they should probably take this conversation elsewhere and somewhere more public and 15:24 so with that in mind the three of them then traveled downstairs ready to continue with their days separately 15:31 however unknown to any of them at the time a janitor working in the local area had already observed Jason's rather 15:37 strange behavior and so with that in mind he'd already called the authorities 15:43 I'm not going to play too much of this dashcam footage but this video shows the result a police officer talking to Ezra 15:50 and Alex who were both located inside her vehicle and then Jason separately on his bike and said they saw you park your 15:57 bike over here yeah and walk over there look around in that car do you know that person that lives there that's my 16:04 girlfriend's car or my ex-girlfriend gr kind of in a situation and the guy that 16:10 lives there is involved in an assault case that she's with was the door standing open over there when you got 16:16 there on the car KN I knocked like three times I didn't hear anything I didn't hear a scuffle or anything so I was 16:22 paranoid I was paranoid that someone was going to do something irrational I don't think he's dangerous but I don't know 16:27 you know what his name is Alex Alex Wood T okay you can go over by your 16:33 [Applause] bike hi is everything okay here 16:42 yeah sorry for all this like it's okay it's okay I'd rather come here and check 16:47 and it be nothing than have something bad happening there you go you guys are good to go thank you thank 16:54 you we're good to go everything's good they're okay everything's fine I'll take 17:01 care of it too okay no problem all right we have a good day thank you Ma however only a few 17:09 hours after this footage was taken one of those in that car would be injured and the other 17:15 dead later that afternoon and a dozen miles away in the rural fields of Springbrook Township Ezra mandas 17:22 approached A stranger's home covered in blood mud and injuries she was crying 17:28 and screaming claiming to have been attacked and as we know that is when the homeowner dialed 17:35 911 I have a young lady that just came to my house and somebody attacked her 17:40 and she needs a doctor her clothes are all torn and yeah she's injured her her 17:46 mouth is kind of uh got some blood around it and her to clothes are all torn okay and can you ask her what her 17:53 name is she's in kind of bad shape she just says she don't know 17:59 officers arrived within 12 minutes of that phone call being made and while there they observed Ezra shivering 18:05 covered in blood and mud and with torn clothes now thankfully she appeared to have minor injuries only and it is 18:11 important to highlight here that none of them were significant for reasons that will become obvious later in this story 18:17 however there would be one injury in particular which seemed to catch everyone's attention and I'm not surprised why officers were shocked to 18:24 see that it appeared that someone had used a knife to scratch the word boy into her arm and Ezra claimed that her 18:30 attacker must have done it responding to the phone call and trying to find her attacker investigators first came back 18:37 with nothing however the following morning they would discover a puzzling scene that would seem to disprove Ezra's 18:44 story after branching out from the stranger's home they found and followed a set of footprints which led them down 18:50 an adjacent muddy Road it was on this road that investigators found a car stuck in the mud and with scribbles on 18:57 the Bonnet a door left wide open and snow on the banks nearby it looked like a scene straight out of a horror movie 19:04 wondering what was going on they slowly approached the vehicle only to find the deceased man in the back seats one of 19:11 the investigators immediately knew who the body belonged to and tragically that was Ezra's boyfriend Alex Woodworth it 19:20 also became clear that this vehicle did in fact belong to Ezra which was kind of evident through the horrible drawings 19:26 found all over the vehicle and of course the license plate as we know Ezra told 19:31 the officers that Alex had apparently attacked her in the back seat of her car but when investigators began to process 19:37 the crime scene well they realized that the evidence told an entirely different story to begin with contrary to Ezra's 19:45 account of the attack occurring in the car's back seat most of the blood evidence was actually discovered outside 19:51 of the vehicle so if she really was attacked in the back seat then why was 19:56 most of the blood outside on the ground it also became quite apparent that both 20:01 he and his sweater which was Blood Stained and covered in punctures was stabbed a total of 16 times they also 20:08 observed that he had no defensive wounds leading investigators to believe that rather than him being the aggressor his 20:15 attacker had probably taken him by surprise after returning to Ezra the police officers would then opt to let 20:21 her speak first in an attempt to see if she would voluntarily share any additional information but instead of 20:26 coming clean with the officers Ezra still insists that she had no idea what happened or who had attacked her and 20:32 that is when they revealed to her that they had found Alex's body you know it's kind of funny but almost by some sort of 20:37 coincidential Miracle her memories then suddenly started flooding back but of course all this would do is make her 20:43 even more suspicious to the officers who now believed that she was trying to cover something up although she was 20:49 initially free to go the evidence began to stack up in the days that followed and well no surprise only 2 weeks after 20:55 Alex's death she was then arrested on suspicion of murder and back at the crime scene well let's just say that 21:01 officers were left with evidence that did not match her story realizing that she was now in 21:08 serious legal trouble Ezra claimed that all of a sudden she remembered what had happened according to her Alex had 21:15 straddled her in the back seat of her car before then starting to cut her clothes with a knife and this is her 21:21 sweater to corroborate that story however the jagged and various angles of the cut do suggest several motions were 21:28 made during this process which would have been extraordinarily difficult to do without injuring her if she was 21:34 wearing the sweater they also noted that her pants appeared to be cut in a way that suggested she had cut the clothes 21:40 herself and as for the words cut into her arm well it didn't take long for graphologists to realize that the word 21:47 boy seems to be in her own handwriting as for the motive Ezra claimed that Alex 21:52 had carved the word into her arm as some sort of sign of possession it is also noted that because she had identified as 21:59 a boy at the time Alex would call her this to appease her but when she claimed that he had cut her arm while the two 22:05 were sitting in the car's front seats that really didn't make any sense to officers quite simply the angles were 22:11 not possible and so Ezra's story was immediately debuffed along the road on 22:16 the way to the farm investigators would find Alex's phone which had been smashed in the process of being dumped this 22:23 suggested that Ezra must have taken the phone off of Alex either before or after he was was murdered they also found this 22:30 knife along the same road which was later determined to be the murder weapon when the car was taken in for 22:36 examination forensic officers observed blood stains all over the back seat ceiling floor and upholstery the blood 22:43 was then analyzed for DNA which soon confirmed a mixture of Alex's and Ezra's blood but no surprise most of it 22:50 belonged to him safe to say the crime scene and all evidence available were not in Ezra's favor with all Clues 22:57 pointing towards her being the aggressor realizing that she wasn't going to get away with this she then decided to 23:02 change her story yet again claiming that she had to kill Alex but only in a matter of self-defense and so with that 23:09 said Ezra's trial began on October the 15th 2019 a total of 18 months after 23:14 Alex's death it is noted here that Ezra put a lot of effort into her appearance making her look as innocent feminine and 23:20 intelligent as possible because apparently put some glasses on and you immediately look more trustworthy it 23:26 became exceptionally apparent that she loved the attention and the spotlight and would even try to flirt with Jason 23:32 throughout her trial let me just ask you is anyone else getting some serious jod Arius Vibes right 23:38 there during her trial Ezra claimed that while taking a drive with Alex they then turned down the country road where the 23:45 vehicle then got stuck in the mud she tried to do the usual Maneuvers to get unstuck things like turning the wheel 23:51 and slowly reversing however no dice Ezra then claims to have gotten out of 23:56 the car moved items out of the boot and then taken a moment to pause she then claims that she got into the back of the 24:03 car to calm down and that is when Alex followed her and then tried to force himself on her he then allegedly cut her 24:10 clothes with a knife and told her that he deserved her and that is when she claimed to have KN him in the groin 24:16 taken the knife from him and then proceeded to stab him 16 times although 24:21 Ezra had initially told investigators that her attacker and then Alex had cut the word boy into her arm she also knew 24:27 that the evidence available would be able to determine that she actually did it herself so admitting that it was 24:33 herself she also told the court that she didn't know why she did it she also said 24:39 that she doesn't know why she didn't call for help doesn't know why she threw his mobile phone away doesn't know why 24:44 she lost her memory and doesn't know why she didn't tell the investigators where they could find Alex she also claimed 24:51 that despite initially lying to police officers she never meant to kill Alex and that furthermore she hoped that she 24:58 could remain friends with him despite everything that had happened but I guess she forgot about all of those messages 25:04 she sent to Jason not only telling him how much she wanted Alex out of her life but also how much she wanted to punch 25:11 him now the state had some very compelling evidence which was sure to knock down her defense to begin with her 25:17 lack of defensive wounds would suggest that she was never in any sort of immediate danger where his lack of 25:22 defensive wounds would suggest that he was attacked by surprise most of Alex's blood was found outside of the vehicle 25:28 and not inside which was in stark contrast to Ezra's story who claimed that she had stabbed him 15 times inside 25:34 the car and only once went out there was also the fact that he was found dead inside of the vehicle and not out as she 25:42 claimed and to add to all of that her story failed to describe why she needed to mutilate his genitals with a knife I 25:48 mean that doesn't sound like self-defense to me in addition to this many witnesses were called to the stand 25:53 to testify and share their observations of Ezra and let's just say pretty much much none of them would go in her favor 26:00 it was clear from the outset that she was fighting an uphill battle with her defense team doing their very best to 26:05 hide her lying cheating and murder in fact there was so much evidence that they could disprove that the 26:11 prosecution's rebal lasted more than an entire hour while in court Ezra displayed a mixed bag of emotions 26:18 leaving others questioning her true feelings at times she appeared calm and composed maintaining steady eye contact 26:25 and a neutral expression however there were moments of apparent vulnerability specifically when her voice trembled or 26:32 her eyes welled up which suggested either remorse or fear her demeanor would occasionally shift to nervousness 26:38 too which was marked by fidgeting or avoiding eye contact some saw her as manipulative using her emotions to sway 26:45 the jury While others believed she was genuinely overwhelmed by the gravity of the situation and so with so many hot 26:53 and cold signals her emotional presentation became a focal point in interpreting her character and her 26:58 intentions her trial would last for a mighty 3 weeks which was filled with plenty of emotion conflict and tension 27:05 but as you know every trial must come to an end and as for the jury's verdict 27:11 well Mr mckenas please rise we the jury find the defendant Ezra 27:19 J MCAS guilty a first degree intentional homicide is charged in the information 27:25 and the answer to the special verdict question is yes Ed a dangerous weapon again you may be 27:30 seated all right ladies and gentlemen um is this your verdict all right they would ultimately 27:37 find her guilty of murder which took them only 3 hours to come to their decision this time her emotions were 27:43 much clearer she was devastated by the verdict annihilated by the cold fact 27:48 that she would now spend the rest of her life Behind Bars 3 months later Ezra was 27:54 ready to be sentenced where her appearance starkly contrasted with the l-head feminine character that she 28:00 expressed during her trial Ezra apologized to Alex's family but her apparent acts of sympathy were not won 28:07 by many in fact many believed that she'd actually faked it and to be honest I can 28:12 see why too in the end Ezra mandas was sentenced to life in prison without the 28:17 possibility of parole for 50 years this means that she wouldn't be eligible for release until the year 2069 and frankly 28:25 it is unlikely that she will ever walk as a free woman again which is probably the only good news from this terrible 28:31 story Ezra mandas is a murderer a sociopath and a liar she was always out 28:37 for attention and always out for herself and when her boy toy got in the way of her Pride she murdered him in Cold Blood 28:44 by the way she still posts on her Instagram page to thep day where she sells her paintings at the best price 28:50 she can afford she's also posted a selfie as recently as Christmas 2024 and 28:56 is it just me or does she give off serious killer Vibes by all counts I strongly believe that Ezra is a 29:02 narcissist from her actions and her behavior with others to the messages that she sent Jason on Instagram right 29:09 through to her dribble on social media behind bars she continuously perceives herself as the main character and the 29:15 victim quite frankly she is full of [ __ ] from head to toe meanwhile Alex Woodworth is 29:23 remembered as a thoughtful curious and kind-hearted individual who left a lasting impression on all of those who 29:29 knew him as a lover of philosophy and literature Alex had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and a deep appreciation 29:36 for life's complexities many friends recall his engaging conversations where his genuine interest in others Shone 29:43 through he was known for his gentle nature warm smile and unique perspective that often inspired those around him and 29:50 his passion for exploring ideas and connecting with people made him a cherished friend his untimely loss 29:56 continues to be deeply felt by his 30:02 community unfortunately this is another one of those stories where despite the Hefty sentence it doesn't undo the 30:08 Damage Done the real outlier here is of course Ezra mandas who I think is nothing but a sociopath and a narcissist 30:15 and I hope she spends the rest of her life Behind Bars anyway those are my thoughts of course I'd like to know 30:21 yours so please show your thoughts down below and with that said I think it's closing time so I'm going to wrap this 30:26 video up here today before I go
