0:00 it's being scared here dangerous people you always have to 0:05 hide see go down looks like that guy had a gun some sort there's like so many of 0:13 them there's like four of them and they're looking at us they're 0:20 at me like this is YouTuber and vlogger 0:26 Elliot Eastman and these are only some of the final words spoken by by him only 2 weeks later he vanished from social 0:33 media and stopped responding to all messages sent by loved ones and none of them could easily get hold of him either 0:39 because well he had traveled more than 8,000 miles away to embark on a new life in an unfamiliar country although this 0:46 case is now technically considered to be closed and solved what happened next was and still partially is a mystery 0:52 depending on who you ask what was left behind was a story shrouded in Secrets Intrigue corruption and sorry OT some 1:00 terrible decisions but we all have a story to tell and I'm here to tell you his welcome or welcome back to Coffee 1:06 House crime folks my name is Adrien and before you begin today this is just to remind you that I post True Crime 1:12 strange and chilling stories up to two times a week here so if that does sound like a kind of thing please do consider 1:18 subscribing and now with all of that said let's dive straight into this one please get comfortable and grab yourself a coffee this is the case of Elliot 1:25 Eastman [Music] Elliot Eastman 1:33 it was on October the 17th of this year that 26-year-old YouTuber Eliot Eastman suddenly fell silent across all forms of 1:41 his social media now although Elliot was originally from the United States he was currently living abroad in the 1:46 Philippines with his wife who was native to the country and so his family and friends back home had no idea what was 1:52 going on but when they noticed that he had stopped posting across all of his social media well that's when they 1:57 expected that something terrible must have happened happened you see as a vlogger Elliot had posted more than 600 2:03 videos to his YouTube channel in the year 2024 alone and this included shorts live streams and long form videos and so 2:11 for him to cut all communication with his family and friends while simultaneously seizing all of his social 2:16 media that was extraordinarily out of character for Elliot and as it turns out 2:21 their concerns were totally valid because none of this was his choice Elliot Eastman grew up in a beautiful 2:28 part of a mon in the small town of of Hinesburg born in the Year 1997 he graduated from Champlain Valley Union 2:34 High School in 2016 classmates of his say that he was the quiet and reserved type but was a good kid after graduating 2:42 from high school he then studied at Ithaca College which is found in New York state before then moving back to 2:48 Vermont but with Hinesburg being so small and a population of only 900 residents there really is not much to do 2:55 here not a lot in terms of entertainment or work either Elliot didn't have many 3:00 aspirations when it came to his career and so by the year 2022 he eventually 3:06 found himself working as a door Dasher and anuba driver in his hometown but after checking out his social media you 3:12 can see he's got some pretty cool Lighting in his car in his spare time Elliot would practice photography and 3:18 occasionally hit the slopes to ski and I have to say he was pretty good at it too the man really did seem to love nature 3:25 and animals but it turns out that the peaceful yet slow pace of life in Hinesburg was was simply not enough 3:30 relate I mean sure it was a very Charming place to be but you can only visit the same lake so many times before 3:37 it starts to get boring Elliot wanted to travel the world have some fun and experience things far outside of his 3:43 comfort zone and So eventually he would do just that now I don't need to tell you how big the world is or how vastly 3:49 different every single country can be but for whatever reason he chose the Philippines we don't quite know what 3:55 initially caught his interest over there but his plan was to travel around the country while making videos on YouTube 4:01 all while doing it cheaply and with the average wage in the Philippines only being $300 this was literally 5% of the 4:08 average back home in Vermont in fact Elliot planned to live inside the Red Zone which had an average wage of only 4:15 $200 so why not whether that was a smart idea or not we'll get to in just a few 4:20 moments but Elliot he had already made his mind up and so at the end of 2023 he 4:26 tied up all of his loose ends left his job said goodbye to his family and boarded a flight to the The Philippines 4:34 Philippines boarding a flight from Burlington International Airport Elliot then traveled 8,000 mil to Manila the 4:41 capital of the Philippines now I don't need to tell you that life in the Philippines is very different from that 4:46 in the Western World whether you're from Europe the United States or even Australia life in the so-called pearl of 4:53 the Orient is different in almost every single way if you can believe it or not the Philippines has a stagger 5:01 7,641 Islands across its territory and where there is land you will find the islands to be covered in dense and lush 5:08 tropical rainforests and mountains with many lakes and waterfalls dotted in between thanks to its very steep terrain 5:15 as you can see the cities are absolutely beautiful too Manila is full of things to see and do including museums Parks 5:23 theaters shopping malls and a plethora of restaurants to choose from and it seems at the markets Foods Malaysian and 5:30 Spanish influences all contribute to a rich yet unique culture Manila itself is 5:36 also considered to be relatively safe so long you exercise a high degree of caution and keep to the well-known areas 5:43 however as you can maybe imagine things do change the moment you step out of the capital city travel into the countryside 5:50 and things start to get a little hairy travel South and you may find yourself in trouble and then travel to the 5:56 southern island and then Westward and some will argue that you're looking for death in fact many Western Government 6:03 advisory boards urge citizens to avoid traveling to the south at all costs smart traveler recommends that you do 6:10 not travel to Central and Western minda now including the Zamboanga Peninsula 6:15 the Sulu archipelago and the southern Sulu sea area all due to the very high threat of terrorism and kidnapping the 6:23 UK's FC Doo expresses very similar advice advising against all travel to 6:28 the Central and West part of the southern island and although the US Department of state's advisory map 6:34 suggests increased caution across the entirety of the Philippines it also strongly advises that you do not travel 6:40 near the Sulu sea which as you can see stretches around the Zamboanga delor 6:45 Peninsula terrorists and armed groups in the Sulu archipelago and the Sulu sea have historically engaged in kidnappings 6:52 for ransom on land and at Sea in addition to this they are well known for several bombings in the area and other 6:59 types of attacks these incidents often Target foreign Nationals including US citizens local government entities and 7:06 security personnel as you can imagine much like the Australian Canadian and British governments the US government's 7:13 ability to provide emergency services to any citizens in this region is extraordinarily limited other threats 7:20 include violent protests robbery gun crime scams drink spiking and even 7:26 Mother Nature herself typhoons tropical stor storms earthquakes tsunamis and 7:31 volcanoes are all a risk here so essentially this beautiful country does 7:36 come with quite the heavy price tag but for one reason or another Elliot did not see this advice as enough of a reason to 7:44 steer clear he instead took pride in being one of the only westerners to travel to the Philippines Red Zone as a 7:51 result he settled along the coast of the municipality of sabuko which as you can see here on this map can be found in the 7:58 Zamboanga deln region it is worth noting that this is well into the Red Zone and 8:03 not even close to an orange Zone let alone yellow or green from the get-go Elliot was concerned about his safety 8:10 and so during this time he traveled to see a shaman who was found in the mountains of sabuko some may believe it 8:17 was through fate but it was during that time that he fell in love with the Shaman's daughter named Kisha Jala and 8:23 according to Elliot it certainly was love at first sight the two hit it off very quickly so much so that they would 8:30 even marry only a couple of months later by July they were as official as two can 8:36 be and Eliot he was now locked in with the Philippines Elliot would stay in the 8:41 red zone of the Philippines fall of 2023 and 2024 sparing one visit to go back 8:47 home and make some more money it was during his time back home that he carved out his social media by creating 8:52 Facebook YouTube and Tik Tok accounts and moving forward this would be his main source of Revenue in the 8:58 Philippines in in addition to this he would also integrate donation pages into those social media profiles including 9:04 PayPal venmo and buy me a coffee you know strategically speaking this was actually a very good idea because a 9:10 dollar would stretch much further in the Philippines than any Western Country after all he would only need around $200 9:17 to survive now these were not the only ways that he was planning to make some money as he did have some other business 9:22 ideas that he would introduce to the local community however we'll get to that in a short while as they were quite About Page 9:31 risky on his about page on YouTube Elliot wrote hello everyone I'm Elliot 9:37 Eastman I am 26 years old and I came to the Philippines about a year and a half ago where I met the love of my life deep 9:44 in the mountains of the red zone of the Philippines Zamboanga deln is a recently 9:49 developed area of the Philippines that was once only accessible by boat I will be showing you my day-to-day life as the 9:56 first and only Foreigner to have ever lived here in subb for a long period of time I am from the USA Elliot began his The Beginning 10:04 YouTube career in the Philippines at the beginning of January 2024 posting his 10:09 first of what would be more than 500 YouTube 10:23 [Music] shorts the following month in in 10:29 February he began daily Vlogs on his YouTube channel and it appeared that he set the tone from the very beginning 10:36 titling his video living in the most dangerous area of the Philippines Red Zone I do have to say it does offer a 10:43 very fascinating view of what life is like in the southern islands of the Philippines and it would certainly have 10:48 offered good entertainment to Western viewers if refined and given a better structure it's about 6:00 7:00 I'm just 10:56 cooking some dinner added some salt and 11:02 pepper Gish is going to cook up some fish and 11:08 um we're going to have some dinner and then tomorrow we're going to go swimming it's definitely different here 11:16 see this little crack in the wall here that's the CR you wouldn't think it's 11:22 much but little bathroom 11:30 in the crevice of a wall I am renting this apartment here 11:40 for um 3,000 pesos each month which comes to about 11:49 $52 each month um around $75 each 11:55 day and um yeah rting place it's very 12:03 nice washing machine a classic 12:10 sto I have a garden here one mango for 12:15 less than $2 per day I'm getting I have an apartment with 12:21 utilities included all right we're out here the 12:27 streets of sabuka look this is my little wife and she's 12:34 very disobedient at times but do L listen to me all the time 12:51 so dangerous area you already know what 12:59 oia 13:07 yeah matches a lot of his videos are genuinely interesting to watch and by 13:13 the way at the point of making this video they are still all available on YouTube they offer raw and unfiltered 13:20 day-to-day life in a sparely documented area and I mean yes what he was doing 13:26 does come with its fair share of risks but it was special nevertheless check 13:31 out all these cool boats y'all so very 13:39 different a right here but right now it is not working cuz we don't have enough 13:45 battery in our Solar to make it R and it's already here to the end of the day 13:50 the solar is fin 13:59 and these guys are collecting some wood that D around the ocean what's that are 14:15 beauti and that is going to be a wrap for today's V I know it was short not 14:20 much but it was something and tomorrow going to be looking at another 14:27 one the light is little so that's going to be it for 14:34 today's Vlog y'all thank you guys for watching and I'll catch you 14:41 tomorrow peace setting up his shop and home on The Beach 14:46 the beach he would routinely battle mother nature and the ocean embracing a life that rarely any European or 14:52 American would encounter everybody 15:01 7 in the 15:07 morning waves are super 15:22 huge it's scary it's coming in 15:27 it's but Elliot would also face economic issues too hardware and electronic 15:33 equipment such as inverters and batteries would often break on him all right so we got up our freaking inverter 15:40 second inverter just fry should did this our first one that just fried 15:49 and now this is our second one that really just started smoking I don't know if this guy set it 15:56 up wrong or what maybe he set this up wrong cuz this should not be the second 16:03 already be like FR this isly my livelihood here like I'm 16:09 surviving at this point I spent all my money on this business so either I get this business running or 16:17 basically I just get home the candid and matter of fact way that Elliot communicated with his Starting a Business 16:22 audience was quite unique he made no effort to dress the place up and recorded casually as if his his viewers 16:29 were family all of his live streams which began in June of 2024 were to bring fresh awareness to his YouTube 16:36 channel in the hope that he could soon become monetized and then receive donations he also opened a shop in the 16:42 summer of 2024 selling food snacks and essential items out to the local community and in addition to this he 16:49 also installed Wi-Fi which he then rented out to customers as you can see in one of his YouTube videos he sold 16:56 household items like toothpaste cooking oil and noodles all at a 30% marker 17:02 check out my store you 17:08 guys we got canned stuff what up Billy we got canned 17:14 goods we got all kinds of stuff we got our little Priceless Mist made 17:22 out these ones are like 28 pesos this charging like 30% 17:29 mark up on everything br oh no dude I'm not from 17:37 the Philippines I'm from the US actually but I'm living here in the Philippines and I'm starting businesses here and 17:43 today is our first day we got our store open we just we just 17:48 uh you know we just this is our first day opening this store we've had a couple sales so far 17:56 you know it's pretty decent it's pretty big size 18:05 too and then this guy chat you like a skeleton skeleton what you think I'm 18:11 dead here you're dead N I ain't dead here bro I'm 18:24 chilling I'm good nobody's going to kidnap me right Elliots Wife 18:29 in addition to this Elliot would also let his wife live stream with him who seemed to be very chilled out and happy 18:35 in front of the camera staying skinny jug every day in 30 steps back 18:44 and forth back and forth like that and then go to 18:50 gym and then like look at him he's like a monkey no 19:05 no I don't know if I'm pregnant or no they said I'm 19:12 pregnant maybe my husband is 19:20 pregnant you too Queenie Take Care thank you so much God bless you I don't know 19:27 maybe I'm sick however this is where we begin to look at the fear behind not only Elliot but Fear 19:34 Kisha too because despite this being their home they clearly did not trust everyone in their community and we would 19:41 see this when it accidentally came out in one of Elliot's Liv 19:46 streams swiming Riv no I didn't want to go just only you 19:53 and me huh I don't want to go just only you and me what 19:59 I'm 20:05 afraid I'm afraid if we don't have somebody with 20:16 us this would also begin a small argument between them over the following minutes and there were clear signs of a 20:23 clash of cultures but of course with Elliot being the Foreigner here he needed to respect the culture that he 20:29 put himself into no no tourists ever come 20:35 here I've never seen one except maybe from Arabia or Saudi Arabia or something 20:44 [Music] yeah no tourist has has ever visited 20:49 this area I'm like the first one which over well I think there's been people 20:54 who have visited but they only stay like a day and they only stay for equipment to 21:01 visit and then they move on but me I've been living here for 3 months this trip and in the past I've 21:08 lived here for six total I've probably lived here like a whole year in total in my 21:15 life I've never seen any other Foreigner here cuz it's dangerous it's a dangerous 21:21 area honestly it sounded like Elliot was consistently worried about his own safety and even played with the idea of Going Home 21:28 going back home to the United States I mean he often spoke about it being a real possibility and felt like he wasn't 21:35 safe in the Philippines for if I was going to go back to the states to do that I'd have to get my license I'd have 21:41 to renew renew my license maybe I'm going to go to the 21:47 stat soon here yeah it's very possible obviously this 21:53 place isn't the most safe place for like 21:59 somebody like 22:05 me yeah that's like a smart idea honestly quick just do some quick get 22:11 some quick delivery cash and come back not a bad idea but at the same 22:19 time I don't know if I'd want to I definitely would want to do things a little differently if I came back 22:27 here and I wouldn't want to rush over here anytime soon unless I was like ready it's a 100% flip difference of 22:36 living and most most Americans probably couldn't live here from for very long I don't think they could I don't know how 22:43 most of them couldn't really wouldn't really want to deal with this kind of stuff up Max most Americans kind of will not 22:51 handle this kind of lifesty they just can't cuz it is 100% a 22:57 low quality and most people are kind of like okay with it like they 23:03 don't they don't doesn't matter to them if it's any better than than this so that's that's 23:11 part of the hard part about living down here like people don't care to be 23:17 better people don't want to try to make their lives better or change things or anything like that through this live stream he would Living in the City 23:24 also talk about how other drivers seemed to Swerve into his vehicle intentionally and how some men would intentionally pee 23:31 all over the stores bathroom floor and how people would routinely burn trash around the perimeter of his building 23:37 it's hard because I'm living in the city right now honestly my life here it's like it's kind of ass a little bit if I 23:45 were to do it again I would I wouldn't do it like this yeah it's just hard like being stuck in 23:52 something that's like not that you're not content with 24:01 it's not even that I'm scared it's like the fact like the family that I'm living with is scared of me something happening 24:08 to me and then if something happens to me they're scared of something is going to happen to them too so it's like I'm 24:14 stuck listening to what they are telling me what to do that's the hard part yes 24:20 it's dangerous for me here dangerous 24:27 here he would also create shorts and in some of them even complain about his Feeling Trapped 24:32 neighbor's burning trash and how he can't change the culture around him and these feelings did not seem to get 24:38 better over time either during his live streams which were accessible to anyone who wanted to watch his videos Elliot 24:45 would often talk about his dissatisfaction with his life and the many fears he had around him yeah it's 24:50 like I would love to like do stuff that I want to do but I feel like trapped I literally feel like trapped cuz if I 24:57 want to go even want to go do something I want to go walk out anywhere or down the beach somewhere different like this 25:03 family is going to get mad at me that I'm living with they're going to be angry with me that's the problem I have 25:10 right now you know it's not even like they're feeling it's like the way they feel like 25:17 maybe they're going to they're going to be affected by something happens to me so I'm like putting them at risk by me 25:22 doing something that's what they're saying but maybe they're scared that I'm just going to leave them yeah there're 25:28 there's that possibility too like if I'm 25:34 uh if I'm getting kidnapped or something like that yeah there's like criminals yeah People Want To Harm Me 25:42 and as you can see here he then began to wonder if people wanted to harm him it's 25:47 like sometimes I do feel respected here sometimes I don't really feel respected 25:53 so that's the other hard part it's like I know if I went any other way any other place in the Philippines or any other 25:59 place in the world besides maybe the us cuz in the US as an as an American like 26:05 somebody like me I'm just a normal person right nobody gives it nobody gives two shits nobody thinks anything 26:12 of it but if I go to anywhere else in the world maybe people are going to treat me good 26:18 people are going to treat me nice for the most part you know and at least anywhere in 26:24 the Philippines I know that and if I'm not being treated well I know I just have to move so and then I can find a place where people 26:30 will treat me well cuz I know that's how the Philippines work but I feel like I've been staying in this area for so 26:36 long to the point where people I don't even know if people like me anymore maybe they want bad things to happen to 26:42 me now it's like that's how I'm starting to think so it's like it's really not good I don't really know like what would 26:48 happen if somebody did come try to like somebody did try to come here and kidnap 26:54 me right would the neighbors help me or would they just sit there and not because it's gotten to the point 27:01 where I've been here for so long that people are like have become normalized for me 27:09 in in this area and especially the family I'm living with and I just don't 27:14 know like I get mixed feelings you know so it's kind of people coming here to tell my family that there's people that 27:22 want to kidnap me or they're threatening to kidnap me or stuff like that like every day every this is happening this 27:29 is like a real life thing for me here that's why no no foreigners or no any other there's no tourists staying here 27:35 cuz they're they're smarter than that but for me I've been living here I've been taking this chance you know even 27:42 last night I'm scared a little bit I'm scared and if it comes to the point 27:47 where it's like all of a sudden I'm kidnapped and something going to happen to me I'm going to ask 27:55 myself I don't know now unfortunately there are many many The Bottom Line 28:02 more examples of this sort of behavior from Elliot the bottom line is that he was absolutely terrified about his own 28:08 safety and well-being and this would carry on for several months the sad truth is that being kidnapped in the Red 28:14 Zone was a very real and credible threat to Elliot because in fact more than 40 28:20 westerners had been kidnapped in the recent decade alone in fact his very own wife would even have firsthand 28:25 experience of this because when she was in in fifth grade at school her Canadian classmate was kidnapped for a ransom of 28:32 $50,000 however for whatever reason Elliot did not believe that he could just simply walk away maybe he was 28:39 worried about his wife's safety or maybe he believed that he could just fight back instead and now that I've set the 28:45 scene you can tell that Elliot was in very dangerous territory especially now he was creating a business within that 28:51 local community and if publicly broadcasting his fears wasn't already Reckless enough he would then go on to 28:57 create one more business business in that town which Frankly Speaking was just begging for trouble moving into the 29:03 second half of 2024 Elliot decided to step into the lone shark industry basically giving away free money to the 29:10 locals so long they paid them back with 20% interest now not only did this 29:15 signify wealth and Corruption but he now basically made himself one of the main competitors to all criminals in the area 29:22 and need to remind you that being in debt to someone can really play around with morals too quite frankly this was a 29:28 terrible choice to make especially as the only Foreigner in the Dangerous People 29:36 area go 29:44 first here I am 30:03 [Music] they being scared 30:09 here dangerous people you always have to hide see 30:18 on focusing on his long form YouTube videos you can tell that his overall situation was worsening over time in 30:26 this video which was published on October the 6th 2024 he was convinced that people were following them and 30:32 often questioned if they wanted to kidnap him as he approached the bottom of the hill with his wife and friend he 30:38 noticed that the other group of people along that Shoreline had guns so not only did he feel unsafe in his 30:45 environment but those around him seemed to have an advantage too I wonder what they're doing maybe 30:53 they're spear fishing uh there spear 31:01 fishing I think these people are spear fishing looks like they' got had a 31:07 gun some sort there's like so many of them there's like four of 31:13 them four people there 31:23 Beau although nothing would happen to Elliot or Kisha or their friend on this day day it is worth remembering how 31:29 uncomfortable she felt about going unprotected to the Shoreline and using Google Maps I was able to figure out 31:35 that this was only a short walk away from their home meaning that even their backyard came with severe 31:48 risks and they're looking at us me Lone Shark Business 31:59 interesting in his third final video Elliot shared several details about his 32:04 own personal lone shark business he talked about the kind of profit he was making from this debt and how he could 32:11 flip those profits to more significant numbers from the same people the guy who we lent money to he returned our money 32:17 when we lent him 21,400 and he came back with 23,500 so little extra we sent him 32:25 back with 35k yeah should be seeing a little bit extra profit off of this uh 32:31 maybe next in one month we'll have already uh 3,500 profits you know U 32:36 businessing there we got our Wi-Fi still running and then we're working on getting another Wi-Fi going with through 32:42 PLT in his final long form video which was his second final video Elliot talks 32:48 about the Filipino lifestyle his wife feeling ill and doing some yoga to combat the many aches and pains that he 32:55 was recently feeling and boom we are out fresh out of the shower the cold shower 33:00 in the cold rain water it's hard to get used to Filipino 33:05 night style it's crazy showering in cold water 33:11 crazy so sweet pece still a little bit sick I brought her some 33:17 water but she's still not feeling that well hopefully she's going to get better 33:23 soon all right so now I'm going to I'm going to do some yoga got these pains and everywhere on my body Sports in high 33:31 school so I'm going to go ahead and do some yoga real not real quick but hopefully 33:38 for a while until like I'm either too tired or I feel good right you guys it's already late 33:45 super late so that's going to be the end of the Vlog then I will see you guys 33:52 tomorrow and in his final live stream video which was streamed on October the 17th 2024 Elliot mainly sat in silence Final Livestream 34:01 while he ate food on his kitchen floor he appeared quite flat and disheveled while answering occasional questions 34:07 from his viewers at one point a viewer asked him are you enjoying the Philippines and you can clearly tell in 34:13 his response that he did feel quite troubled by some aspects join 34:20 phili I'm enjy it there's some parts that I like about 34:27 it there's some parts that I don't like he was then asked what don't you 34:33 like about it what don't like about 34:40 it the bathrooms are smelly they don't smell good most most 34:46 of times and I'm just getting tired of 34:54 like being around all the same people 35:04 he otherwise appeared to be very disengaged with his audience and would eventually turn off his camera without 35:10 saying goodbye tragically that would be the The Aftermath 35:15 last time that the internet ever saw Elliot Eastman alive only 2 hours later men disguised his police officers would 35:22 quietly approach his property these so-called officers were actually from a splinter Terr IST group and of course 35:29 they were there to abduct him for ransom Elliot resisted his capture and so the terrorists well they shot him in the leg 35:35 to stop him from running away tragically It is believed that while being fired at a rogue bullet accidentally penetrated 35:42 his stomach however instead of releasing him the militants would then pack him into a motorized boat and then speed 35:48 away into the night and at least for this moment in time that was all that was known about Elliot Eastman's fate he 35:55 vanished into the dark sea leaving his his screaming wife behind local police tried to chase the gunman but 36:02 unfortunately failed to catch up it is reported that they fled further south towards the provinces of basilan or Sulu 36:09 an area notoriously bad for terrorism and Pirates when police arrived at the 36:14 home to investigate they found a blood smear across the vinyl floor Blood on the sand and an empty bullet cartridge 36:21 from an M16 rifle as you can imagine Elliot's disappearance created a massive 36:26 problem for the Philippines National Police Force when a Westerner disappears under concerning circumstances 36:32 especially when it's an American it can have a significant impact on local tourism as a result the local mayor 36:39 announced a 150,000 Philippine peso or $2,500 reward for any information which 36:46 may help find him news eventually got out that Elliot had allegedly died from his wounds while on that boat and rumors 36:54 spread that his kidnappers then threw his body out at Sea and in a dramatic twist police were able to locate the 37:00 group who were suspected of kidnapping Elliot and then engaged in a shootout which eventually resulted in the arrest 37:06 of four of those suspects with another four currently remaining at large tragically one of the arrested men then 37:13 gave a written statement to confirm that the rumors were in fact true after dying 37:18 from one of the gunshot wounds they then threw Elliot overboard he never made the boat trip back to base which of course 37:25 is why they never contacted the auor authorities to negotiate a ransom deal dozens of surges have been carried out 37:31 along the shores and the nearby islands for his body but unfortunately there have been no signs as of yet members of 37:39 the FBI and the Department of State have joined investigators in the Philippines but so far have found nothing no Ransom 37:46 demand or proof of life has since been received from any of his abductors and 37:51 tragically he is now presumed to be dead as a result the authorities have shifted from arrest operation to a recovery 37:59 effort but it is unlikely that his body will ever be found now that it's been a couple months historically some have but 38:07 most never see the closure they need this story has been a horrific one to cover and without a body ever being 38:14 recovered we do end this one slightly open-ended too however given the 38:19 testimonies from his arrested kidnappers and the statement created by the FBI I think we can call this one solved 38:28 now I would love to stand here and say that Elliot was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time but 38:33 unfortunately he made some very Reckless decisions first and foremost I would like to say that Elliot was a bright and 38:40 kind man who really did love his wife but moving to a Red Zone flaunting your wealth creating videos about the local 38:46 community and then complaining about them and then becoming a lone shark well 38:51 he really did overshoot by quite the margin to add to that there were other interesting aspects that I came across 38:57 too for example all Muslim men living in the area must be covered between the naval and the knes whereas Elliot he was 39:04 always topless and wearing shorts so put quite bluntly the way that he dressed certainly did lack respect for the 39:10 culture that he inserted himself into to answer that Elliot posted pictures and videos of his expensive neighborhood in 39:16 Vermont onto his social media profiles and anyone who saw that would definitely think that he was wealthy and finally 39:23 Elliot did not seem to be well-liked within the local community not only that but he failed to heed the warning signs 39:30 and get out while he could and so tragically I think I have to say here that this is just another example where 39:36 you really should follow your gut instinct good or bad if it sounds sensible just do it get out while you 39:43 can with no body ever being discovered I really do hope that Elliot is found safe alive and well however sadly this story 39:51 seems to be over and with that said I think I'll end this video here today folks thank you so much for watching 39:56 today but before I go I'd love to hear your opinion on this one what do you think about aliot Eastman's decisions 40:02 not only about him traveling and living in the Red Zone but his choices after moving there too and do you think he's 40:08 still alive and well or do you think tragically he has been murdered as always please share your thoughts in
