0:00 This is Chelsea Perkins, a US Coast 0:02 Guard veteran better known as Selena 0:05 Savage. On the surface, Chelsea seemed 0:07 like a woman with an unusual path. A 0:10 former service member turned mother and 0:12 then eventually only fans model. And 0:15 whether you agree with her lifestyle or 0:16 not, she knew exactly how to captivate 0:19 an audience and how to hide her darkest 0:21 secrets hidden in plain sight. However, 0:24 behind that carefully crafted image 0:26 lurked something that was far more 0:28 sinister, including a festering 0:29 obsession, a plan for revenge and blood 0:32 spilled on federal grounds. 0:34 Unfortunately, that is where Matthew 0:36 Dunmier enters the story. A man who was 0:39 not only a beloved friend and father, 0:41 but also someone who had his own shadowy 0:43 past. Whatever lay between these two, 0:46 and whatever messy history they shared, 0:48 it would ultimately create a monster in 0:50 Chelsea. And not only would her actions 0:53 result in multiple deaths, but it would 0:55 also force long-forgotten secrets right 0:58 back into the spotlight. Hi there folks, 1:01 my name is Adrien and welcome or welcome 1:03 back to Coffee House Crime. And today, 1:05 do I have a story for you. This one has 1:07 got everything your mother warns you 1:09 about. A military veteran turned Only 1:11 Fans model, a secret revenge plot that 1:13 had been brewing for years, and a murder 1:16 in a national park. Oh, and also a 1:18 Facebook post that basically gave the 1:20 entire story away before it even 1:22 happened. So, top up your coffee, 1:24 silence that phone, and maybe lock your 1:26 front doors for good measure. On that 1:28 note, please grab yourself a coffee and 1:30 let's caffeinate while we investigate. 1:32 This is the case of Selena Savage. 1:44 Welcome to Ohio, folks. Today we begin 1:47 near the city of Hudson and with a man 1:49 named Matthew. Matthew Dunmier was in 1:52 many ways your typical Ohio guy. At the 1:54 age of 31, he was a free spirit, someone 1:57 who loved music, played guitar, and 2:00 cherished time with his friends. 2:01 Originally from Virginia, those who knew 2:04 Matthew described him as selfless, loyal 2:06 to a fault, and always the first to lend 2:08 a hand when someone needed help. Born on 2:11 November the 26th, 1989 to his mother, 2:14 Tommy Lynn, Matthew was just a happy and 2:16 cheerful boy. He was goofy, loved 2:18 listening to Frank Zapper with his 2:20 father, and found his guitar at a very 2:22 young age. He also shared a deep bond 2:24 with his circle of friends, most of whom 2:27 were just as passionate about music as 2:29 he was. and moving into his adulthood 2:31 with a long-term partner, two kids, and 2:34 a solid crew he saw almost every day. 2:36 Well, Matthew seemed happily grounded in 2:38 his small town just outside of Hudson, 2:40 Ohio. Which is why when he suddenly 2:42 stopped responding to all text messages 2:45 and didn't show up like he usually 2:46 would, people knew that something was 2:48 wrong. 2:52 On the morning of March the 6th, 2021, 2:55 Matthew disappeared under abnormal 2:57 conditions. However, the real story 2:59 began the evening before on March the 3:01 5th. It was over drinks at the Tiki 3:04 Underground, a local bar that he would 3:06 often go to with his friends and 3:07 co-workers that Matthew said that he had 3:09 plans for the weekend. He explained that 3:12 a friend from Virginia was passing 3:14 through Ohio. And so, the two had 3:16 decided to catch up. But rather than 3:18 meet for dinner or coffee, they instead 3:20 booked an Airbnb 40 mi north of Hudson, 3:23 where they planned to spend the night 3:24 together and then take a walk the 3:26 following day. At around 6:00 p.m. that 3:28 evening and while still sharing a drink 3:31 with friends, Matthew's phone lit up 3:33 with a text message. He glanced down and 3:35 then looked up and said to his friends 3:37 that a so-called girl he knew online was 3:40 here. That is when he stood up, grabbed 3:42 his coat, and made his way outside. 3:45 Wanting to be polite, his supervisor 3:47 followed him, stepping outside to say 3:49 goodbye for the weekend. The two 3:51 exchanged a few words outside before 3:53 then shaking hands. Meanwhile, his 3:55 supervisor noticed a white smart car 3:57 idling in the parking lot, its rear 3:59 lights glowing in the dusky darkness. 4:01 The car was for Matthew, and behind the 4:04 wheel was a woman with brown hair. His 4:06 supervisor couldn't make out much else, 4:08 but Matthew did appear to be happy when 4:11 he saw her. He then waved goodbye to a 4:13 supervisor, got into the passenger seat, 4:15 and then just like that, the car pulled 4:18 away, heading north along Acron 4:20 Cleveland Road and towards the big city. 4:22 Now, at the time, it did seem like this 4:25 was just another farewell. However, 4:27 little did his supervisor know that he 4:29 would be the last of Matthew's loved 4:31 ones to ever see him alive. 4:35 Although Matthew remained reachable that 4:36 evening and even into the next morning, 4:39 his messages would eventually stop. In 4:41 fact, his final message was sent at 4:43 10:29 to his girlfriend simply saying, 4:46 "Okay, I'll see you in a little while." 4:48 Wherever Matthew was at that moment in 4:50 time, it is clear that he intended to 4:52 return home later that day. But the 4:54 thing is, he never did. He didn't reply, 4:56 didn't call, and never came back. As the 4:59 day wore on, his girlfriend, who by the 5:01 way was already upset with him, grew 5:03 concerned. I mean, Matt wasn't 5:04 responding to any of her messages. But 5:06 now, his friends were also saying that 5:08 they couldn't get a hold of him either. 5:10 And by the next day, well, that concern 5:12 grew into fear. This was not like Matt 5:14 at all. I mean, he had two kids at home 5:17 after all. and all of those who knew him 5:19 knew that he would not leave them 5:20 hanging. Now, obviously, it is quite 5:22 safe to say that his colleagues were 5:24 already quite curious about this 5:25 mysterious woman. I mean, it's not 5:27 normal to go out of town with an old 5:29 friend and then never return. And there 5:31 were many questions on to why he was 5:33 doing this in the first place. And now, 5:35 his friends, they were openly alarmed. 5:37 Who was she? And more urgently, what 5:41 happened after she picked Matthew up? 5:43 This mysterious woman's name was Chelsea 5:46 Perkins. And it turns out that she was a 5:48 high school friend of Matthews back when 5:50 he lived in Virginia. It's unclear how 5:52 close the two of them were back then, 5:54 but what we do know is that the two did 5:56 in fact know each other, and their 5:58 connection would prove to be pivotal 6:00 only several years later. After 6:02 graduating in the year 2009, Chelsea 6:05 made a decisive move to enlist into the 6:07 US Coast Guard. By the age of 19, she 6:09 was stationed at Coast Guard Station 6:11 Houston in Texas, where she worked as a 6:14 small boat crew member and held the rank 6:16 of seaman. Her military service was 6:18 rather short-lived, however, lasting 6:20 only 3 years until her departure in 6:22 March of 2012. But it turns out that her 6:25 time there would not be entirely 6:27 fruitless because while in the US Coast 6:29 Guard, she met and then eventually fell 6:31 in love with a fellow service member. 6:33 The couple married a couple of years 6:35 later before then having two children 6:37 and settling down in Northern Virginia. 6:39 So, so far so good. And to the outside 6:42 world, it seemed like a stable and 6:44 respectable life. But behind closed 6:46 doors and soon to be very public, 6:48 Chelsea's lifestyle was transforming 6:49 into something that no uniform could 6:51 contain. And by no uniform, I mean quite 6:54 literally no uniform. Because Chelsea 6:56 had made the decision to become an Only 6:58 Fans model. Now look, can I be really 7:00 honest with you here for a minute? But 7:02 do you know how hard it is to try and 7:03 research an Only Fans model without it 7:05 getting a little bit risky? All I wanted 7:07 was a bit of historical background and 7:09 maybe a few pictures of her face. But 7:11 Chelsea, she definitely had other ideas. 7:14 So, let's just say that now my eyeballs 7:15 are in therapy and my search history 7:18 needs a priest. To put this another way, 7:20 after leaving the military, Chelsea did 7:22 a full career pivot into the adult 7:23 entertainment industry, rebranding 7:25 herself as a porn model under the name 7:27 Selena Savage. Now, listen guys, I know 7:30 you're curious, but don't go typing that 7:31 name into Google. I'm serious and I'm 7:33 watching you. Focusing on the more PG 7:36 friendly version of Chelsea, she still 7:38 has an active Instagram account under 7:40 the name of Selena Savage Official, 7:42 where she would previously promote her 7:44 uh content and other various life 7:47 updates. From there, you can see that 7:49 she likes motorbikes, hairless cats, and 7:51 tattoos. And despite now operating in a 7:54 very different world from the military, 7:56 it does look like that she managed to 7:58 leverage her online persona into a new 8:00 source of income and attention. By early 8:03 2021, and at the same time that Matthew 8:05 disappeared, she was a wife and a mother 8:07 of two children. While online, she went 8:10 by the name of Selena Savage. Friends 8:13 and those who knew Chelsea described her 8:15 as a very expressive person who at times 8:18 had somewhat of a bad behavioral 8:20 reputation. A former classmate of hers 8:22 from the Coast Guard described her as 8:24 insane, while another former shipmate of 8:26 hers described her as bizarre. However, 8:29 it is important to note here that at the 8:31 time she had no recorded criminal 8:33 incidents and no violent behavior on 8:36 record before the year 2021. There is no 8:39 known prior criminal history here. No 8:41 arrests, no charges, and no civil 8:44 lawsuits. It appears that after Matthew 8:46 moved away from Virginia and to Ohio, he 8:49 and Chelsea slowly drifted apart. Their 8:52 connection, for whatever it once was, 8:54 faded. That would be until a brief 8:56 encounter in the year 2017. Now, we will 8:59 get to the significance of that 9:01 encounter soon. But for now, it's worth 9:03 realizing that from that point onwards, 9:05 they stopped speaking altogether. 4 9:08 years passed and then in February of 9:10 2021, that changed yet again. During the 9:14 icy stretch of that winter, Chelsea 9:16 decided to add Matthew back on Facebook. 9:18 It was a move that seemed casual and 9:20 maybe even a little nostalgic. The two 9:23 began to talk and Chelsea mentioned to 9:25 Matthew that she had plans to travel 9:27 through Cleveland in only a few days 9:29 time. She told him that she was heading 9:31 northwest of Detroit for a tattoo 9:33 appointment and since she would be in 9:35 the area, well, they should catch up. 9:37 Matthew agreed. I mean, sure, why not? 9:39 It sounded simple enough. just two old 9:42 acquaintances reconnecting for the 9:44 weekend. But of course, that weekend 9:46 would be the last time that anyone ever 9:48 saw him alive. While both friends and 9:51 co-workers knew that he was meeting 9:53 someone, either an old friend or a woman 9:55 that he'd met online, nobody actually 9:57 knew her name, there were no contact 9:59 details to remember and no ways to trace 10:02 him or his friend. And so when Matthew 10:05 stopped responding, well, panic began to 10:08 set in. And then he was officially 10:10 reported as missing. But of course, with 10:12 no leads and no trail to follow, nobody 10:15 had any idea where he had gone. That 10:17 would be until only 3 days later. 10:21 At 11:00 a.m. on March the 9th, 2021, 10:24 officers from the Valley View Police 10:26 Department were dispatched to the Terra 10:28 Vista Natural Study Area inside Kaoga 10:31 Valley National Park. Hikers had 10:33 stumbled upon a very gruesome discovery. 10:36 Just off the trail and near an old 10:38 cemetery, they found the body of a young 10:40 adult male. The victim appeared to be 10:43 dressed in all black, wearing fingerless 10:45 gloves, a leather jacket, a hoodie, 10:47 jeans, and boots. Lying beside him was a 10:50 half empty bottle of Aquafina. And 10:53 inside his pocket, officers found his 10:55 ID, which sadly would confirm that it 10:58 was Matthew Dunmier. Although his body 11:00 was then prepared for autopsy, it was 11:02 already obvious what had killed him. 11:05 Officers observed a single gunshot wound 11:07 to the back of his head, therefore 11:09 ruling that this was a homicide and 11:11 likely not in self-defense. 11:14 When his family and friends learned of 11:16 the news, that grief was sure to hit 11:18 hard and the sadness rippled through his 11:20 community. But no one took it harder 11:22 than his mother, Tommy Lynn, who quite 11:24 clearly was shattered more than anyone 11:26 realized. And trust me, there is more to 11:28 this story coming up. As the reality of 11:31 his death started to sink in, attention 11:33 quickly turned to that mysterious woman, 11:35 the one that he'd told everybody that he 11:37 was with that weekend. Everyone who 11:39 heard about her had the same burning 11:41 questions. Who was she? Why was Matthew 11:43 at the cemetery with her? And what 11:45 happened between them? Now, at that 11:47 point in time, nobody had the answers. 11:49 But thankfully, the FBI were just about 11:51 to get involved. And when they did and 11:54 eventually solved the case, let me tell 11:56 you, they were surprised. But before we 11:58 get there, let's first talk a little bit 12:00 more about Chelsea because it's not like 12:02 an old friend would have a motive for 12:04 murder, right? Well, sadly wrong. In 12:07 2017, Chelsea went to the police with a 12:10 very disturbing claim. She reported that 12:12 Matthew had sexually assaulted her and 12:14 that she wanted to press charges. Now, 12:17 the details surrounding this allegation 12:19 are still unclear to this day, but it 12:21 does seem that the authorities 12:22 investigated her claim and ultimately 12:24 determined that there was not enough 12:26 evidence to pursue charges, not even 12:29 circumstantially. Not to say that it 12:31 didn't happen, of course, but officers 12:33 found nothing. Needless to say, Matthew 12:35 denied the allegation, and not just in 12:38 passing either, because those close to 12:40 him say that he was utterly stunned, 12:42 shaken, and horrified by the accusation. 12:45 He claimed that it was entirely 12:46 consensual and that she must be lying 12:48 for her own benefit. His friends were 12:51 also shocked by the news. They described 12:53 him as a gentle and laid-back man, the 12:56 kind of guy who wouldn't hurt a fly. So, 12:59 what really happened? The truth is that 13:02 we don't know and we never will. But 13:04 what we can say is that moment clearly 13:07 stuck with Chelsea. It lingered and 13:09 festered, and those close to her would 13:12 later say that she could never move past 13:14 this incident. They say that she was 13:16 haunted by the belief that Matthew had 13:18 gotten away with something terrible. 13:23 So, despite it initially sounding like 13:25 an outrageous leap, it turns out that 13:27 Chelsea did actually have a motive after 13:29 all. Beneath the surface of their messy 13:31 encounter lay a resentment that never 13:33 really died. But here is the $1 million 13:36 question. Could the FBI prove it? Well, 13:39 as it turns out, yes. And the evidence 13:42 amounts to laughable levels. On the 13:44 evening of March the 5th, and at 5:46 13:47 p.m., security cameras at an Ohio 13:49 Turnpike toll plaza caught a glimpse of 13:51 something interesting. That being a 13:53 white smart car slipping through the 13:55 Acron exit. Now, if you're from the 13:57 area, you will know that this leads 13:59 towards the Tiki underground bar, which 14:01 is precisely where Matthew just happened 14:03 to be that night. Only a few minutes 14:05 later, at 6:00 p.m., Matthew got that 14:08 text message. He then turned to his 14:10 co-workers, said goodbye, and stepped 14:12 outside with his supervisor. The 14:14 supervisor would later tell the 14:15 investigators that he watched Matthew 14:17 climb into a small white or silver car, 14:20 which seemed to be driven by a woman 14:21 with brown hair. The bar surveillance 14:23 cameras would later confirm this. And 14:25 for those still wondering if this really 14:27 was Chelsea, well, license plate 14:30 trackers would later match the car to 14:32 her husband, who out of respect will 14:34 have his identity kept private. About 15 14:37 minutes later, and just down the road at 14:39 a BP gas station, that same small white 14:42 car would show up on another 14:43 surveillance camera. Only a few seconds 14:46 later, Matthew was seen stepping inside 14:48 to buy cigarettes, a red canned drink, 14:50 and a bottle of Aquafina, which, as we 14:53 know, would later become crucial 14:55 evidence to this case. Multiple 14:57 surveillance cameras, license plate 14:59 readers, and GPS data would all confirm 15:01 that the two then headed north together, 15:03 eventually arriving at an Airbnb located 15:06 on Ashbury Avenue on the eastern side of 15:08 Cleveland, Ohio. The Airbnb in question 15:11 was reserved under the name of Chelsea 15:13 Perkins with a credit card under her 15:16 name also being used. Not subtle at all, 15:19 hey? Later that evening, a surveillance 15:21 camera from a Verizon store showed the 15:23 two entering a Potbelly sandwich shop 15:25 together. After that, the two then 15:27 headed back to their Airbnb with nearby 15:30 cell towers holding a consistent record 15:32 of the two of them. The following 15:34 morning at 9:03 a.m., Matthew texted his 15:37 girlfriend to say, "I'm guessing you 15:38 don't miss me." And I bet you're mad 15:40 with me. I pissed this chick off anyway, 15:43 so I hope you're happy. At 11:9 a.m., he 15:45 then pulled up Google Maps and typed in 15:48 directions to the Terra Vista Natural 15:50 Study Area, a quiet pocket of trails 15:52 which are tucked away inside Kaoga 15:54 Valley National Park. And by 9:45 a.m., 15:58 GPS data confirmed that he had arrived. 16:01 Cell Towers would also confirm that 16:02 Chelsea was there, too, with her device 16:04 pinging off a cell tower at 9:59 a.m. 16:07 While nobody can say for sure what 16:09 precisely happened between the two under 16:11 that canopy of trees, what we do know is 16:14 that at 10:29 a.m., Matthew sent a final 16:17 text message to his girlfriend simply 16:19 reading, "Okay, I'll see you in a little 16:22 while." Except he wouldn't because not 16:25 long after that, Matthew vanished for 16:27 good. Chelsea and Matthew may have 16:29 remained in privacy visually, but only a 16:31 couple of minutes later, a couple heard 16:33 a gunshot echoing through the trees. 16:36 Fearing for their safety, they turned 16:37 around and darted towards the car park. 16:39 And when they eventually got there, what 16:41 do you think they saw? It was Chelsea's 16:44 white smart car. Only a few minutes 16:45 later, another couple who were 16:47 completely unaware of the commotion 16:48 arrived at the car park. And once they 16:50 got out of the car and walked up the 16:52 trail, they saw Chelsea near the 16:54 cemetery, which by the way was pretty 16:56 much exactly where Matthew's body was 16:58 found. So now there wasn't just two, but 17:00 four people that could now pin Chelsea 17:02 at the exact time and place that Matthew 17:04 was murdered. However, this is where it 17:06 gets really interesting. Do you remember 17:08 that bottle of water that Matthew bought 17:10 at the gas station? Well, it turns out 17:12 that he'd actually brought that with him 17:13 to the cemetery with investigators later 17:15 finding it next to his body. And when 17:17 they tested it, they found that it 17:19 contained both Matthews and Chelsea's 17:21 DNA. And if you think that's bad enough, 17:23 well, it only gets worse because her DNA 17:25 wasn't only found on that bottle, but 17:27 also under his fingernails and all over 17:30 his pubic hair. So, I guess you could 17:32 say it's the physical evidence that 17:33 really turned heads. It is also worth 17:35 highlighting here that the bullet found 17:37 in the back of Matthew's skull was a 9 17:39 mm round, and the gun that was licensed 17:41 underneath Chelsea's name was a 9mm 17:44 Springfield Armory. 17:47 So, what did Chelsea do after Matthew 17:49 was gone? Well, the road keeps talking, 17:52 and it turns out that she really did go 17:54 to that tattoo parlor. Turnpike Easy 17:56 Pass records show that she was traveling 17:58 northbound by 1:00 p.m. She then slipped 18:00 onto the Ohio Turnpike at North 18:02 Ridgeville and then headed west straight 18:04 towards Toledo. From Toledo, she then 18:07 crossed state lines into Michigan before 18:09 then eventually arriving at Family Inc. 18:11 And while Matthew's body lay lifeless in 18:14 the park, Chelsea celebrated by getting 18:16 herself a brand new tattoo, kind of like 18:18 a trophy after her horrific actions. She 18:22 would even talk about it on Instagram, 18:24 posting a photo with the caption, "What 18:26 a great weekend." I got a little blast 18:28 from the babe in her sick ass new shop. 18:31 So proud. And yes, by the way, it does 18:34 mean that this picture of Chelsea was 18:36 taken only hours after she murdered 18:38 another human. The following day, more 18:40 surveillance cameras and plate checkers 18:42 would track her driving all the way back 18:44 home before then carrying on with her 18:46 life as if nothing had happened. But 18:49 fast forward to the end of the month on 18:50 March the 30th, investigators were done 18:53 playing nice. And that is when they 18:55 showed up at Chelsea's home in Arlington 18:56 with a search warrant in hand. 18:58 Thankfully, what they found inside was 19:00 all they had hoped for because hidden 19:03 away in a backpack was a Springfield 19:05 Armory 9mm pistol with her ID card right 19:08 beside it. Forensic experts then 19:10 compared the bullet pulled from 19:12 Matthew's skull to rounds fired from 19:14 Chelsea's handgun. And the markings left 19:16 behind were so eerily similar to the 19:18 fatal bullet that it was impossible to 19:21 ignore. Oh, and by the way, here is 19:23 something that I almost forgot to point 19:25 out. But only 3 days before the murder, 19:28 Chelsea jumped on Facebook and posted, 19:30 "Dead men tell no tale." I mean, that is 19:33 a little too on the nose if you ask me. 19:35 And guess what? But that was actually 19:37 posted on the same day that she 19:39 reconnected with Matthew. So now the 19:42 police had well, pretty much everything 19:43 you'd expect in a rockolid case. Of 19:46 course, that being multiple witnesses, 19:48 DNA, a murder weapon, and a motive far 19:50 darker than most people could stomach. 19:52 However, despite having all of that 19:54 stacked against her, the detectives 19:56 hesitated to arrest her. Maybe they were 19:58 just being cautious. Or maybe they 20:00 wanted more time. The bottom line is 20:03 though that for now, Chelsea walked 20:05 free. And this is where our story twists 20:07 and turns into a very bizarre nightmare. 20:09 Matthew's mother, Tommy Lynn, was 20:11 consumed by grief because, well, her son 20:13 was dead. Yet, with every day that 20:16 passed, she knew that his killer was out 20:18 there somewhere living their best life. 20:20 And so when the police hesitated to 20:22 arrest the person they believed murdered 20:24 her son, Tommy Lynn flipped out and 20:26 instead she decided that she would take 20:28 justice into her own hands. 20:32 So this is when Tommy decided to launch 20:35 her own investigation instead. However, 20:37 as Tommy dug deeper into her son's case, 20:40 her mental health slowly began to 20:42 unravel. She eventually convinced 20:44 herself that it must be one of Matt's 20:46 ex-girlfriends that was behind his 20:48 murder. And to be fair, she was half 20:50 right. But this burden of trying to 20:52 uncover the truth would slowly begin to 20:55 consume her. Sleepless nights turned 20:57 into her new normal, and she spent 20:59 countless hours pouring over every scrap 21:02 of evidence, chasing leads, and 21:04 replaying what-ifs in her mind. The 21:06 deeper she went, the more isolated she 21:08 became. Friends started to drift away, 21:11 and the family worried that they 21:12 couldn't reach her. Her obsession with 21:14 solving her son's case slowly eclipsed 21:16 everything until one day that obsession 21:19 turned into a plan far more dangerous 21:21 than she could have ever imagined. 21:23 Together and with her husband, she 21:25 planned an act of revenge so desperate 21:28 that it barely felt real. She purchased 21:30 a fake UPS uniform, loaded up the family 21:33 car, and then drove all the way to 21:35 Washington DC to what they believed was 21:37 Matthew's killer's doorstep. When Tommy 21:39 knocked on that front door, her hands 21:41 were trembling so violently that she 21:44 could barely keep her grip on the gun, 21:46 which was hidden underneath her delivery 21:48 jacket. She had now made up her mind. 21:50 The woman who killed her son would now 21:52 have to pay in blood. And that came at 21:54 the cost of two bullets to the stomach. 21:57 But fate, or maybe just a cruel twist of 21:59 tragedy, seemed to have other plans 22:01 instead. Because that woman who opened 22:03 the front door, that was not Chelsea 22:05 Perkins. Not even close. And although 22:08 she may have had some faint resemblance 22:10 towards Chelsea, she was a completely 22:12 innocent stranger and someone who had no 22:14 connection in Matthew's death, Tommy 22:16 Lynn had made a terrible mistake and had 22:18 shot the wrong person. And now with a 22:21 gun in her hand and in a stranger's 22:22 hallway, her revenge came crashing down 22:25 around her. Matthew's mother then fled 22:27 the scene and of course the police were 22:28 right behind her. But unfortunately, it 22:31 was already too late. Tommy Lynn was 22:33 convinced that there was no way out of 22:35 this. And so she did the unthinkable. 22:38 She grabbed her gun, raised it to her 22:40 head, and then pulled the trigger. 22:45 In an instant, the Dunmier family lost 22:47 not just a son, but a mother, too. A 22:49 second life that was swallowed by the 22:51 same darkness that started it all. And 22:54 as for Chelsea, well, her story wasn't 22:57 finished yet. Although she carried on as 22:59 if nothing had happened, posting on 23:01 Instagram in her skimpy outfits and in 23:03 other outfits like this, she was now on 23:06 borrowed time. On December the 9th of 23:08 2021, Chelsea was finally arrested on 23:11 suspicion of murder. Neighbors watched 23:13 from behind curtains as she was led away 23:16 in handcuffs, apparently looking just as 23:18 stonefaced and silent as she did at the 23:20 cemetery. Down at the station, 23:22 detectives finally interviewed her. They 23:24 laid out the facts, including the smart 23:26 car, the gas station water bottle, the 23:28 DNA found on Matthew, and the bullet 23:30 that matched so perfectly. However, 23:33 Chelsea decided to stick to her story 23:35 and denied any involvement whatsoever. 23:37 She swore that she did not kill Matthew 23:40 and that she couldn't explain her DNA, 23:42 which was found on his body. Many of her 23:44 friends were shocked by the news. I 23:46 mean, Chelsea openly hated Matthew, 23:48 sure, but murder, that was a surprise. 23:52 There were no major red flags. She had 23:54 no criminal record and no history of 23:56 violence and hadn't been diagnosed with 23:58 anything either. On paper, she did 24:00 appear to be a stable person, even if 24:02 that did include her double life as 24:04 Selena Savage. And now that I think 24:07 about it, the surname really did not 24:09 work in her favor. Detectives were 24:11 convinced this would be an easy 24:13 openand-shut case. After all, Chelsea 24:15 didn't just snap in an undocumented 24:18 fashion. She planned every step. She 24:20 booked an Airbnb, drove more than 300 m 24:23 to meet him, and then even scheduled a 24:25 tattoo appointment for after the murder. 24:28 To investigators, it all pointed towards 24:30 one thing, cold-blooded premeditated 24:33 murder. After being arrested, Chelsea 24:35 was ultimately denied bail, meaning she 24:38 had no choice but to sit in a jail cell 24:40 until her trial. But before that would 24:42 begin, the prosecution offered her a 24:44 deal, a sentence of 27 to 31 years 24:47 behind bars if she were to admit to 24:49 murdering Matthew. If Chelsea had taken 24:52 this offer, then she would be free again 24:54 by the time she turned 65. However, she 24:57 would ultimately refuse this plea deal 24:59 and then stand by her own story, but 25:01 only for a short while 25:05 because eventually she had a change of 25:07 heart. And on May the 27th, 2025, 25:10 Chelsea Perkins pleaded guilty to 25:12 secondderee murder, unfortunately 25:15 excluding firstdegree. It's interesting, 25:17 but if the court accepts this plea 25:18 agreement, then she will spend 20 to 25 25:21 years behind bars, which actually is a 25:23 25% cut to the first plea deal that she 25:26 rejected. Now, if I had to hazard a 25:28 guess, I would probably say that Chelsea 25:30 realized that the evidence was simply so 25:32 strong that there was no way she would 25:34 win this. So, I've known about this 25:36 story for probably 3 weeks now, and if 25:38 I'm honest with you, every time I think 25:40 about it, it just stops me dead in my 25:41 tracks. From Coast Guard to Only Fan's 25:44 murder, then to convicted killer. What a 25:46 slide. It's just absolutely crazy. And 25:49 if that wasn't enough already, throwing 25:50 Tommy Lynn's revenge and then death into 25:52 the mix. Well, now you've got a script 25:54 that even Hollywood would call a bit 25:56 much. Chelsea has always maintained that 25:58 the main motive was revenge, which, 26:00 okay, fair enough. Maybe not that 26:02 degree, but still fair enough. But I 26:05 can't be the only one thinking this. Why 26:07 did she sleep with him that night? With 26:09 her DNA being found on Matthew's private 26:11 region, there is no room for doubt here. 26:14 The two were intimate shortly before she 26:16 pulled the trigger, which boggles my 26:17 mind a little bit because, well, 26:19 parenthood aside, Chelsea claimed that 26:21 he'd assaulted her only a few years 26:23 prior. And look, I'm not here to 26:25 question whether it happened or not 26:26 because quite frankly, I have no 26:28 authority to do so. I do have one 26:30 question for you. If that were to happen 26:33 to you, would you ever in a million 26:35 years sleep with that person again? It's 26:37 just another twist in this story that 26:38 makes it so messy and unpredictable. 26:43 Regardless of what you believe, one 26:45 thing is clear that Chelsea had two 26:47 lives. There was the life that she 26:49 showed the world. That being a smiling 26:52 face, a new tattoo, snapshots of 26:54 ordinary moments and not so 26:56 familyfriendly moments. And then there 26:58 was the darker side of her too. The side 27:01 where she determined that justice would 27:03 not be handed down by a judge, but taken 27:05 by force on her own terms instead. To be 27:08 blunt, it is quite hard to believe that 27:10 she actually believed that she would get 27:12 away with his death, too. I mean, her 27:14 plot contained not one but several 27:16 glaring holes. And I still can't wrap my 27:19 head around this photo, which was taken 27:21 the very day she murdered Matthew. In 27:23 fact, there are dozens more photos after 27:26 it. And it's kind of unsettling to 27:28 realize that even after pulling that 27:30 trigger, she just seemed to carry on, 27:32 smiling for selfies, posing for the 27:35 camera, and living like nothing ever 27:37 happened. It's moments like this that 27:39 remind me that sometimes the scariest of 27:41 monsters don't actually look like 27:43 monsters at all. Well, maybe just a 27:46 little bit. 27:50 And on that note, folks, I'm going to 27:51 wrap up this video here, but I genuinely 27:53 want to know what you think about this 27:55 one. Do you think it was revenge or just 27:57 coldblooded murder? Or do you think it 27:59 was something even more complicated? 28:01 Please share your thoughts down below. 28:03 Thank you so much for making it this far 28:05 today, folks. I really do appreciate you 28:07 being here. And if you haven't yet, 28:08 please do slap that subscribe button. It 28:10 really does help me out. As always, I'll 28:12 see you in the next video, which will be 28:14 next week now.
