0:00 Is this thing on? Yes, it is. Hey there, 0:02 folks. Okay, so December the 21st, 2025. 0:06 Today marks 5 years since Coffee House 0:08 Crime started on YouTube. As many of you 0:11 know, all of this began with the case of 0:13 Joshua Maddox. And when I launched on 0:15 Spotify earlier this year, I revisited 0:17 that case. It was mostly to see how far 0:19 this channel has come in the time it's 0:21 been around. And so, with that being on 0:23 Spotify, I thought now was the perfect 0:25 time to share it here on YouTube, too. 0:27 And with that said, I just wanted to say 0:28 thank you so much to all of you who are 0:30 here because, well, Coffee House Crime 0:32 wouldn't be anything without its 0:34 community. Truly, I feel so happy and 0:36 blessed to be here with all of you. So, 0:38 thank you. And hey, here's to many more 0:40 years to come. Anyway, folks, please 0:42 grab yourself a coffee for the 339th 0:45 time and let's investigate. This is the 0:47 revisited case of Joshua Maddox. 0:59 In the quiet mountain town of Woodland 1:01 Park, Colorado, a family search for 1:04 their missing son dragged on for years 1:06 without answers. Joshua Maddox was only 1:09 18 years old when he left his home on a 1:12 spring morning in 2008. He told his 1:15 sister that he was going for a walk. 1:17 However, after that, he vanished. No 1:20 phone calls, no sightings, and no trace 1:23 left behind. A few days later, he was 1:26 reported as missing to police officers, 1:28 but their efforts were futile, and for 1:30 seven gruelling long years, the Maddox 1:33 family were left with nothing short of a 1:35 nightmare. It was in the year 2015 that 1:38 a gruesome discovery in a cabin only one 1:41 mile from the family home suddenly 1:43 shattered that silence. You see, several 1:46 contractors were busy tearing down an 1:48 abandoned cabin when all of a sudden, 1:51 they stumbled upon something inside of 1:53 the chimney. It was the mummified 1:55 remains of a human body, unnaturally 1:57 positioned and wedged deep into the 2:00 brick. Those remains were eventually 2:02 identified to belong to Joshua. And 2:04 although he had now finally been found, 2:07 it was in one of the strangest and most 2:09 haunting ways imaginable. Despite the 2:12 discovery, many questions surrounding 2:14 his death still remained. For example, 2:16 what precisely happened to Joshua Maddox 2:19 on the day that he walked out? What did 2:21 the clues leave behind? And was this a 2:24 tragic accident? Or was someone else 2:26 involved for nefarious reasons? 2:31 Welcome to Colorado Springs, folks. 2:33 Nestled at the foot of the Rocky 2:35 Mountains, it's home to breathtaking 2:37 peaks, endless hiking trails, and a 2:40 community that thrives on nature's 2:42 doorstep. Tourists come here for the 2:44 garden of the gods, military families 2:46 for the nearby Air Force Academy, and 2:49 dreamers for the crisp mountain air that 2:51 promises a better life. It has to be 2:53 good, right? I mean, it does look 2:55 tempting if I'm honest. Even I was 2:57 considering moving there a few years 2:59 ago. However, beneath that scenic 3:01 facade, Colorado Springs has long held a 3:04 darker reputation. With its rather rapid 3:07 growth, the city has struggled with 3:08 crime rates that are higher than the 3:10 national average, and especially when it 3:13 comes to violent crime. Methampetamine 3:15 has left deep scars on local 3:17 communities, often targeting those 3:19 suffering with mental health issues. 3:21 While gang activity and drug trafficking 3:23 have threaded themselves deep into the 3:26 city, even its geography plays a 3:28 sinister role here. The dense forests 3:30 and vast wilderness surrounding Colorado 3:32 Springs have hidden more than a few 3:34 bodies over the recent years. And 3:36 investigators will always tell you that 3:38 it is a rather convenient place to 3:40 disappear. Whether that's by choice or 3:43 even by force. And it doesn't end there 3:46 either because some of the country's 3:47 most unsettling crimes have happened 3:49 here. From serial killers to unsolved 3:52 mysteries that still haunt investigators 3:54 today. Speaking of which, today we're 3:57 traveling 25 mi northwest of Colorado 4:00 Springs to a small town called Woodland 4:02 Park. Founded in 1887, it's home to 4:05 about 8,000 residents. And with it being 4:08 found deep in the forests and mountains, 4:10 it is beautiful in its own right, yet 4:13 mysterious all the same. And it's here 4:15 that you could find Joshua Maddox and 4:17 his family. Born on March the 9th, 1990 4:20 in Woodland Park, Joshua grew up with 4:22 his father and three siblings, Kate, 4:24 Ruth, and Zachary. He was the youngest 4:26 of the family, meaning that his brother 4:28 and sisters would often try to look 4:30 after him. Unfortunately, his mother and 4:33 father had divorced a while prior, 4:35 leaving him in a fractured household. 4:37 After being homeschooled for his first 2 4:39 years, Joshua then transitioned into the 4:42 Woodland Park school system, where he 4:44 quickly stood out as an exceptional 4:46 student. In fact, teachers remember him 4:48 as intelligent, bright, and gifted. He 4:51 was a great guitarist for his age, too. 4:54 And of course, with a sharp sense of 4:56 humor and adventurous spark, he was also 4:58 known to be the troublemaker from time 5:00 to time thanks to his curious nature. To 5:02 add to this, friends would also describe 5:05 Joshua as witty, easygoing, and 5:07 compassionate. And key takeaway here, 5:10 someone who loved to go out for an 5:12 adventure. 5:14 Now, Joshua loved the Colorado 5:16 wilderness, and to be honest, he wasn't 5:18 afraid to spend a night or two under the 5:20 stars, which did mean that from time to 5:23 time, he would disappear for a couple of 5:25 days. This elusiveness was a bad habit 5:27 that both of his parents hadn't quite 5:29 grappled yet. But then again, in a place 5:32 like Woodland Park, what could possibly 5:34 go wrong? It also appeared that Joshua 5:36 had carried a certain resilience about 5:38 him, too, formed out of tragedy. because 5:41 sadly only 2 years prior in 2006 his 5:44 older brother Zachary had taken his own 5:46 life. This of course devastated the 5:49 family but none other like Joshua. 5:52 Depression hit him hard after this and 5:54 although he would eventually find 5:56 himself out of that darkness it was a 5:58 long and difficult task and then as you 6:01 know only 2 years later he would then 6:03 suddenly disappear. And so on that note 6:06 let's talk about it. It was on May the 6:08 8th, 2008 that Joshua told his sister 6:11 Kate that he was going out for a walk. 6:13 And although he didn't specify where or 6:15 how long for, why would he? Because this 6:18 was just a normal walk. But the thing 6:20 is, after leaving the property, he never 6:23 returned. In fact, that would be the 6:25 last time that anyone would ever see 6:27 Joshua alive again. Now, one thing to 6:30 mention here is that Joshua was very 6:32 casual about this walk. He didn't pack 6:34 anything extra with him. didn't provide 6:36 any details and wasn't acting unusual 6:39 either. What this tells me is that he 6:41 had every intention to return home later 6:43 that day, but alas, that would never 6:46 happen. As the hours slipped by, anxiety 6:49 began to rise. Now, at first, people 6:52 didn't panic too much. After all, Joshua 6:55 was known for his love of the outdoors 6:57 and would often go on long hikes through 6:59 the forests or spend hours catching up 7:01 with friends. So when he didn't return 7:04 home that evening, it wasn't entirely 7:06 unusual, just abnormal. This was how 7:09 Joshua operated. After all, he was 7:11 raised to be both independent and 7:13 freespirited. For most of us, having a 7:16 child unaccounted for for one night 7:18 would definitely send alarm bells 7:20 ringing. But for the Maddox family, it 7:23 wasn't a cause for panic, at least not 7:25 at first. But as the days passed by, 7:28 each and every one of them moved with 7:30 silence, and each one heavier than the 7:32 last. And so finally, on May the 13th, 7:35 with that being 5 days after Joshua was 7:38 last seen, his father picked up the 7:40 phone. In an effort to find his son, he 7:42 called all of his friends. But when none 7:45 of them knew where he was, that feeling 7:47 of dread immediately set in. And so the 7:50 next thing he did was call the police to 7:52 alert them. Almost immediately, the 7:54 community rallied to find him. 7:56 Volunteers searched through the thick 7:58 woodlands, trudged through lakes and 8:00 ponds, and scoured the many mountains 8:02 surrounding Woodland Park. Search dogs 8:05 were brought in, posters were put up, 8:08 and neighbors kept their eyes open. But 8:10 despite their best efforts, every trail 8:12 went cold, and every lead went nowhere. 8:15 It was as if Joshua had stepped out into 8:18 the wilderness and then simply vanished. 8:21 Amidst the grief and worry, Joshua's 8:23 sister shared a post on Facebook to say, 8:26 "Since Joshua was 18, it has been 8:28 reasonable to assume that he may have 8:29 decided to leave town to start a new 8:32 life. As one of his two older sisters, I 8:34 have always chosen to believe that this 8:36 was the case. I expected Josh to return 8:39 home to my father's house at any time 8:41 with a wife and small children. Josh has 8:43 always been known for his musical and 8:45 literary talent. So maybe we would one 8:48 day find him playing music with a band 8:50 on tour or catch him writing successful 8:52 novels under a pen name so that he could 8:54 keep his preferred lifestyle of solitude 8:56 in the woods. 8:59 These words from his sister paint a good 9:01 impression of the mindset that his 9:02 family were in at the time that Joshua 9:04 disappeared. And it's true he was an 9:07 adult now. So, not only could he make 9:09 his own decisions in life, but he could 9:11 come and go as he pleased. In addition 9:13 to this, it sounds like not only had he 9:15 played with the idea of leaving, but 9:17 also remaining anonymous. And so, with 9:20 him now gone, that doesn't necessarily 9:22 mean he's in danger, right? And if you 9:25 look at the facts, there was actually 9:27 nothing to suggest he was. Joshua was a 9:30 good kid. He had good grades. He was 9:32 well-liked and had a good head on his 9:34 shoulders. So maybe he was just keeping 9:37 himself out of trouble. Friends would 9:39 also say that in the months leading up 9:40 to his disappearance, Joshua wasn't just 9:43 content, but even happy. And so on that 9:46 note, police had no reason to suspect 9:48 foul play. The searches continued for a 9:50 while. But with no leads, all hope 9:53 slowly began to fade. And as the week 9:55 slipped into months, and months finally 9:57 into years, all efforts eventually 10:00 seized. But something didn't quite sit 10:02 right for his family, especially for his 10:05 father. In fact, he was so worried that 10:07 even after he moved, he kept the family 10:10 home just in case Joshua returned. He 10:12 figured that that would be the one place 10:14 he would know where to go if he wanted 10:16 to find them. But that moment would 10:18 never come because Joshua was gone. 10:23 Fast forward 7 years and on Friday, 10:26 August the 12th, 2015 at around 2:30 in 10:29 the afternoon, Woodland Park police were 10:32 called to a property on Meadowark Lane. 10:34 Now, as it turns out, Meadowark Lane 10:36 wasn't far at all from Joshua's old 10:39 family home. In fact, it was only a mile 10:42 down the road. The property belonged to 10:44 a 79-year-old man named Chuck Murphy, 10:47 who at the time was president of Murphy 10:50 Constructors. The cabin had been in his 10:52 family for multiple decades. Originally 10:55 purchased by his parents on what was 10:57 once part of the notorious Thunderhead 10:59 Ranch, a place known for illegal 11:01 gambling, bootlegging, and wild parties. 11:05 Now, Chuck's brother had lived in the 11:07 cabin for more than 30 years before 11:09 eventually it became a rental. And once 11:12 that had served its purpose, the 11:14 property sat empty from 2004 through to 11:18 2015, falling into disrepair in the 11:21 process. Every once in a while, Chuck 11:23 would check on the property just to make 11:25 sure that everything was in order. And 11:27 although no major damage was noted, the 11:30 place did get broken into on multiple 11:32 occasions. By the year 2015, the cabin 11:35 was finally ready to go. The land was 11:38 being cleared for a new development 11:40 which would create 32 family homes in 11:42 the area. And with this cabin being part 11:44 of that zone, well, it was basically set 11:47 to be demolished for a good price. 11:49 However, this is where things fell apart 11:52 and the mystery of Joshua Maddox 11:54 deepened because during the demolition 11:56 phase, something horrific was 11:58 discovered. As demolition crews tore the 12:01 cabin apart, one worker peered into the 12:03 half-demolished chimney, and that is 12:06 when he froze. Because wedged just above 12:08 the lounger's fireplace, and in a fetal 12:11 position about 1 m off the ground, lay 12:13 the mummified human remains of a man. It 12:16 is noted that the body was rigid, dark, 12:19 and contorted in a rather disturbing 12:21 posture with the knees pulled tight 12:23 above the head and one hand raised 12:25 towards the face. The legs, which were 12:28 now stripped of flesh, had come loose 12:30 from the torso. And possibly the most 12:33 unsettling detail of all is that the 12:35 victim was almost naked, wearing nothing 12:38 but a thermal shirt. The cabin had been 12:41 silent for over a decade. But now, well, 12:44 it seemed to be holding a secret that 12:47 was simply too grim to ignore. When 12:50 asked what the cabin was like before 12:52 demolition, Chuck said the place was 12:54 damp and it smelled like hell. There was 12:57 raccoon poop all over the place, and we 12:59 really had no reason to go in there 13:01 except to tear the building down. 13:05 Now, at first, officers had no idea who 13:08 the body belonged to. I mean, I'm sure a 13:10 couple of them had a hunch, but none of 13:12 them could be sure. So, their first step 13:14 was to check local databases and compare 13:17 the body against all missing people in 13:19 the area. And of course, that list 13:21 included Joshua Maddox. And their answer 13:24 would come pretty quickly after that 13:26 because after checking dental records, 13:28 they realized that Joshua's was a match. 13:31 And if that wasn't enough already, they 13:33 were able to confirm this for a second 13:35 time when they realized that both the 13:36 body and Joshua had the same joint 13:39 missing from their index finger. Which 13:41 means that after seven long years, 13:43 Joshua had finally been found. And in 13:46 some sort of cruel twist, it wasn't even 13:49 a mile away from his family's home. 13:51 Honestly, it's a thought just as tragic 13:53 as it is haunting. For several years, 13:56 friends and family had searched the area 13:58 hoping for a clue. Meanwhile, Josh's 14:01 body lay hidden just behind a chimney 14:03 wall. In fact, when you look at Google 14:05 Street View images taken during that 14:07 time, it is eerie to know that his 14:09 remains were right there, but just out 14:12 of sight. And obviously, this is the 14:14 reason why the case of Joshua Maddox 14:16 would eventually become known as the 14:18 story of the boy in the chimney. So 14:20 although this discovery brought closure 14:22 to the question as to where he was, it 14:24 didn't quite explain how he got there, 14:26 why he was in that position, or what 14:28 exactly happened in that cabin. And as 14:31 it turns out, the deeper that you look 14:33 into this story, the stranger it 14:35 becomes. So let's take a closer look. 14:40 So let's start with Joshua's autopsy. 14:42 When toxicology reports came back, they 14:45 noted no trace of drugs or alcohol in 14:47 his system. His body also showed no 14:50 evidence of trauma, no broken bones, no 14:53 stab wounds, and no bullets. So in 14:56 short, on paper, there was nothing to 14:58 suggest foul play. With that in mind, 15:00 the coroner, Alborne, officially ruled 15:03 Joshua's death as accidental, suggesting 15:05 that he had most likely become trapped 15:07 after falling down the chimney before 15:10 then suffering from hypothermia. He also 15:12 said that Joshua's death was not 15:14 immediate. Instead, he likely endured a 15:17 slow, agonizing end, either from, as we 15:20 mentioned, hypothermia caused by the 15:22 mountains frozen air around him, or 15:25 alternatively from dehydration as the 15:27 days ticked by in silence. So, at least 15:30 from the coroner's perspective, a sad 15:33 but resolved case, right? Well, the 15:36 story does seem to be straightforward 15:38 enough. Joshua went exploring that day, 15:41 climbed onto the roof of a cabin barely 15:43 one mile from his home, tried to slip in 15:45 through the chimney, fell, became 15:48 trapped, and then slowly died. If you 15:50 look at the story this way, then yes, 15:53 tragic, but also simple. However, it's 15:56 when you look at the other details that 15:58 things begin to make a lot less sense. 16:00 The truth seems to be far stranger and 16:03 darker. And the deeper that you look 16:05 into Joshua's death, the more unsettling 16:07 that questions become. So, let's first 16:10 turn our attention to the cabin itself. 16:12 Even from the very beginning, its owner, 16:15 Chuck Murphy, raised serious doubts 16:17 about the coroner's theory. To begin 16:19 with, years prior to Joshua's 16:21 disappearance, Chuck had installed steel 16:23 rebar across the top of the chimney in 16:25 an effort to keep raccoons and other 16:27 animals from slipping inside. He also 16:30 insisted to officers that there was no 16:32 way the guy crawled inside that chimney 16:34 with all of that steel webbing. Quite 16:36 simply, he didn't come down that 16:38 chimney. It is also worth saying that 16:40 this was not merely speculation because 16:43 as a veteran of the construction 16:44 industry, he knew his materials and 16:47 their durability very well, and he was 16:49 confident that the rebar was still in 16:51 place at the time that the cabin came 16:53 down. The only reason that investigators 16:56 found no trace of that rebar in the 16:58 rubble was because apparently Chuck had 17:00 already ordered scrap collectors to 17:02 salvage the metal the day prior. This 17:04 information blew massive holes in 17:06 Alborne's theory. Because if Chuck was 17:09 correct, then Joshua didn't actually 17:11 enter from the roof at all. He must have 17:13 gone into that chimney from inside the 17:16 cabin instead. If that wasn't enough 17:18 already, the scene found inside of the 17:20 cabin only raised more questions, too. 17:23 You see, Joshua was found to be wearing 17:25 only a thermal shirt. And if you're 17:28 wondering where the rest of his clothes 17:29 were, well, they were inside of the 17:31 cabin. It is worth highlighting that 17:33 reports differ on whether the clothes 17:35 were neatly fold or simply left 17:38 scattered on the floor. But either way, 17:40 it strongly suggests that he had been in 17:42 the cabin before ending up in that 17:44 chimney. And this is where things get 17:46 even more puzzling. Before the 17:48 demolition even began, Chuck noticed 17:50 something quite strange inside the 17:53 cabin. The breakfast bar had been torn 17:55 from the kitchen wall and dragged in 17:57 front of the fireplace, almost as if it 17:59 was in an effort to block or conceal the 18:02 chimney entirely. And the bar itself was 18:04 no small piece of furniture either. In 18:06 an interview, Chuck even confirmed that 18:08 it was 10 ft wide and 4 ft tall, which 18:11 is probably far too heavy for Joshua to 18:14 have easily moved on his own. Quite 18:16 understandably, this raises some rather 18:18 unsettling questions. For example, did 18:21 Joshua somehow manage to shift the 18:23 breakfast bar by himself, or was this 18:26 deliberately placed there by someone who 18:28 was trying to conceal him? Another 18:30 potential theory is that maybe it was 18:32 just moved there by a squatter who was 18:34 simply moving things around the cabin 18:36 while trying to keep warm. In that case, 18:38 it would have been very creepy to know 18:40 that a body was just meters away behind 18:43 a wall. And the truth is that if Joshua 18:45 had entered the chimney from inside of 18:47 the cabin, then these are technically 18:49 the only three options. Either he moved 18:52 the bar himself, someone moved the bar 18:54 to try to conceal him, or someone moved 18:56 the bar without any knowledge that he 18:59 was inside. As an important side note, 19:01 it's also possible that he removed his 19:04 own clothes while experiencing 19:05 hypothermia. Usually in the late stages 19:08 of hypothermia, there is this dark irony 19:10 that people feel abnormally hot and then 19:13 try to remove their clothes, which 19:15 basically seals their fate for them. But 19:18 the thing is that if you look back at 19:20 historic temperatures on the night that 19:21 he disappeared, the weather stayed above 19:24 48° F or 9° C. And with hypothermia only 19:29 beginning at 50° Fahrenheit or 10° C, it 19:32 is quite hard to believe that Joshua 19:34 would have experienced such a thing. 19:39 And as it turns out, the deeper that you 19:41 look into this story, well, let's just 19:44 say the stranger it becomes. Only 3 days 19:47 after ruling Joshua's death as 19:49 accidental, the coroner quietly reopened 19:52 the case. But once again, after all 19:54 evaluations were made, the conclusion 19:57 was the same. An accident and nothing 19:59 more. However, while all of this was 20:01 going on, the police were actually 20:03 taking dozens of phone calls. This 20:05 included tips and even potential names, 20:08 including someone who had allegedly 20:10 bragged about murdering Joshua. And the 20:12 person that I'd like to focus on here is 20:15 a man named Andy Newman. Now, Andy was 20:18 only a few years older than Joshua and 20:20 also a familiar face from Woodland Park 20:23 High School. However, unlike Joshua, 20:25 let's just say that Andy's reputation 20:28 was far from great. Those who knew him 20:30 described him as volatile, erratic, and 20:33 sometimes even violent. And not only did 20:36 he disappear around the same time as 20:38 Joshua did, but he would go on to have 20:40 quite the impressive criminal record. A 20:43 couple of years after leaving Colorado, 20:45 Andy would eventually resurface in New 20:48 Mexico. And then in 2012, police 20:50 discovered that he had murdered a friend 20:52 of his with a knife before fleeing the 20:54 state. He was later caught and then 20:56 convicted of firstdegree murder and then 20:59 sentenced to life behind bars. 21:01 Apparently, he was even accused of 21:03 murdering another person only a year 21:05 prior, too. So, this alone was enough to 21:08 spark new theories that maybe Andy was 21:11 responsible in Joshua's death. I mean, 21:13 he had a motive, a means, and history 21:15 with the area, too. And if that wasn't 21:18 enough already, it is also reported that 21:20 Josh and Andy had allegedly been 21:22 spending time together in the months 21:24 before the two of them had disappeared. 21:26 And so, it is no surprise to learn that 21:29 many people believe that maybe Andy was 21:31 the one to force him in that chimney. It 21:33 is also worth highlighting here that his 21:35 other offenses include grand theft, 21:37 battery, drunkenness, and attacking a 21:40 police officer. Now, officially, there 21:42 is no evidence linking Andy to Joshua's 21:45 death. Not only do records place him 21:47 elsewhere at the time of Joshua's 21:49 disappearance, but police never named 21:51 him as a potential suspect either. And 21:54 simultaneously, the coroner still 21:56 believes that Joshua's death was an 21:58 accident. At the time of producing my 22:01 first video and even this one, Andy 22:03 still remains behind bars. And if his 22:06 record is anything to go by, that is 22:08 precisely where he belongs. In fact, as 22:10 recently as March of 2019, he made 22:13 headlines once again when he assaulted a 22:15 detention officer. It is safe to say 22:17 that compassion has never been Andy's 22:19 strength. So, just like my first video, 22:22 what's my theory on the case of Joshua 22:24 Maddox? Well, before we get to that, I'd 22:27 like to add another possible theory that 22:28 I hadn't actually considered when 22:30 covering this case for the first time, 22:32 and that is mental health and relapse. 22:37 From everything that has been publicly 22:39 reported, there is no indication that 22:41 Joshua had any diagnosed mental health 22:43 issues. In fact, most reports 22:46 consistently stress that he was doing 22:48 extraordinarily well. And not only did 22:50 he have a good group of friends around 22:52 him, but he wasn't in any sort of 22:54 trouble either. However, in these 22:56 mystery cases, it is really important 22:58 that we cover every single angle. And 23:00 there are two potential indicators to 23:02 suggest that he may have been under some 23:04 sort of relapse at the time of his 23:06 death. For example, Joshua was found 23:09 almost entirely naked. And while this 23:12 could suggest murder through sexual foul 23:14 play, it could also suggest something 23:16 different. During certain types of 23:18 mental health crisis, people do often 23:21 remove their clothes for reasons 23:23 including psychosis, severe mania, 23:25 confusion, or neurological or substance 23:28 related issues. So, could Joshua have 23:31 been going through something? 23:33 Technically, it's possible. 23:37 So, what do I really think happened to 23:39 Joshua Maddox? Well, after weighing all 23:42 of the evidence that I have, and even 23:44 sitting on it for 4 and 1/2 years, I 23:46 still lean heavily towards murder. I 23:48 mean, yes, there is a slim possibility 23:50 that Joshua had an accident or some sort 23:53 of mental relapse which led him into 23:55 that chimney. However, when you take a 23:57 step back and look at the bigger 23:58 picture, the more plausible explanation 24:00 is that he crossed paths with the wrong 24:02 person at the wrong time in the wrong 24:04 place. I mean, look, put quite bluntly, 24:07 I simply cannot see why Joshua would 24:09 decide to be half naked inside a chimney 24:11 in an abandoned cabin only a mile away 24:13 from his family's home, either willingly 24:16 or just for fun. And so, on that note, I 24:18 think either someone or something must 24:20 have put him there, whether he was lured 24:22 inside, forced against his will, or 24:24 placed there after he had died. The 24:27 autopsy and toxological reports reported 24:29 no knife wounds, no bullets, and no 24:31 broken bones. However, the condition of 24:34 his body after 7 years left countless 24:36 possibilities open, most notably 24:39 strangulation. And to be clear here, 24:41 this does not automatically mean that 24:42 Andrew Newman is to blame. I mean, sure, 24:45 he might be a potential suspect, but he 24:47 is only one person among several 24:50 theories. Tragically, with the cabin 24:52 being demolished shortly after Joshua's 24:54 discovery and his body being cremated, 24:56 it is very unlikely that we will ever 24:58 find out what really happened to him. If 25:00 Joshua really were murdered, then I 25:02 guess the only real closure we will ever 25:04 receive is if his killer eventually 25:06 comes forward, but the likelihood is 25:08 pretty small. And I guess with that 25:10 said, those are my thoughts on the case 25:12 of Joshua Maddox for the second time. 25:15 So, to those of you who have seen the 25:17 first version of this video, you'll 25:18 realize that I've actually added some 25:20 extra details to this one. But the one 25:22 thing I'd like to talk about before 25:24 playing that video is how this case 25:25 shaped Coffee House crime. The story of 25:28 Joshua Maddox and the mystery behind his 25:30 disappearance is the one that really 25:32 ignited my interest to start this 25:33 channel. And let me tell you, I had no 25:36 idea how much this would grow. 25:37 Throughout that time, a lot has changed, 25:39 including my process, my team, and even 25:41 the way of thinking about these cases, 25:44 believe it or not. But when I first 25:45 started researching this story, I 25:47 remember having these recurring 25:48 nightmares of Joshua being stuck in the 25:50 wall behind my bed, clawing towards my 25:52 face. It was genuinely a very disturbing 25:55 experience and quite honestly it almost 25:57 made me stop the channel entirely. But I 25:59 guess over time the process of 26:01 desensitization eventually kicks in and 26:04 now I'm much more grounded with these 26:06 stories. On that note folks, thank you 26:08 so much for being here today. I really 26:10 do appreciate it. If you'd like to 26:12 follow me over on Instagram, Facebook or 26:14 YouTube, it's all the same handle@ 26:16 coffee crime. And as always, I'll see 26:18 you again very soon for another video. 26:20 Until our moment arrives though, 26:22 remember to look after yourselves, look 26:23 after each other, and of course, stay 26:26 safe and stay curious. Thank you and 26:28 goodbye.
