Well, we've been in 00:02:36.610 --> 00:02:39.530 a little series here talking about Jesus and 00:02:39.530 --> 00:02:42.150 the journey to Pentecost. And it's taken him 00:02:42.150 --> 00:02:44.229 a long time to get to where we've been going. 00:02:44.969 --> 00:02:53.030 I'm just kidding. Some of you got that. But we're 00:02:53.030 --> 00:02:55.530 talking about the genius of Jesus. We're talking 00:02:55.530 --> 00:03:00.939 about the reality of how amazing. Some of the restrictions and hindrances 00:04:16.259 --> 00:04:21.120 that thought processes and culture and experience 00:04:21.120 --> 00:04:25.199 and disappointment have tried to just bring God's 00:04:25.199 --> 00:04:31.699 gift only down to just Jesus. I am grateful for 00:04:31.699 --> 00:04:35.939 this gift. This gift, it hinges on everything. 00:04:36.120 --> 00:04:40.019 My life hinges on that gift, but there's more. 00:04:41.579 --> 00:04:46.040 in Jesus Christ because he's of the same nature 00:04:46.040 --> 00:04:50.680 as the father. It is the cornerstone. And Jesus is separating 00:06:42.290 --> 00:06:45.230 out of the disciples their wrong perspectives 00:06:45.230 --> 00:06:48.930 about the Father, which in turn bring wrong perspectives 00:06:48.930 --> 00:06:52.069 about the Son and wrong perspectives about the 00:06:52.069 --> 00:06:56.180 Holy Spirit. Because if you get off not knowing 00:06:56.180 --> 00:06:59.699 the trail, you get off the trail of not actually 00:06:59.699 --> 00:07:02.920 understanding and receiving the nature of the 00:07:02.920 --> 00:07:06.279 Father, you cannot embrace the nature fully of 00:07:06.279 --> 00:07:09.800 the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And so we have 00:07:09.800 --> 00:07:13.420 to go back to this truth. There's no better truth 00:07:13.420 --> 00:07:17.120 to highlight this than Romans 11, 28. I know 00:07:17.120 --> 00:07:19.779 you got your finger in John 4. We're going to 00:07:19.779 --> 00:07:24.579 go there, a very famous passage. Romans 11, 28 00:07:24.579 --> 00:07:30.600 is probably, well, for the context today and 00:07:30.600 --> 00:07:36.180 in the political realm of, even in theological 00:07:36.180 --> 00:07:41.180 realms, this verse speaks to a hotbed of issues. 00:07:42.220 --> 00:07:46.060 Romans 11, 28 says this, concerning the gospel, 00:07:46.360 --> 00:07:52.029 they, meaning what? Israel. are enemies for your 00:07:52.029 --> 00:07:57.129 sake. But concerning the election, we're not 00:07:57.129 --> 00:08:01.930 talking American election, okay? Some of you 00:08:01.930 --> 00:08:04.089 are like, well, what election did they win? No, 00:08:04.250 --> 00:08:07.230 the election meaning of the foreknowledge of 00:08:07.230 --> 00:08:11.149 God. Concerning their election in the foreknowledge 00:08:11.149 --> 00:08:16.550 of God, they are beloved. for the sake of the 00:08:16.550 --> 00:08:19.009 fathers. Now, I don't want to spend too much 00:08:19.009 --> 00:08:21.430 time on this this morning, but I want us to drill 00:08:21.430 --> 00:08:27.250 down on this because it is such a topic that 00:08:27.250 --> 00:08:32.389 gets hit from every angle. And if you take it 00:08:32.389 --> 00:08:36.250 to the extreme on the concert, if you would say 00:08:36.250 --> 00:08:40.529 Jewish only side of extremism, it becomes out 00:08:40.529 --> 00:08:43.250 of balance. If you take it well there, it's there. 00:08:43.929 --> 00:08:46.210 They've missed their boat. It's all now fulfilled 00:08:46.210 --> 00:08:49.230 in the church. You've taken it to extremism and 00:08:49.230 --> 00:08:52.450 missed the boat on that. There is a reality here 00:08:52.450 --> 00:08:55.330 that God is saying, Paul is saying something 00:08:55.330 --> 00:09:01.309 to us in the saying to the Roman Jewish believers. 00:09:01.309 --> 00:09:06.029 He said, you need to understand that if God is 00:09:06.029 --> 00:09:11.740 actually holding intention, his promises, In 00:09:11.740 --> 00:09:14.340 the midst why his people who he coveted with 00:09:14.340 --> 00:09:19.679 are enemies. And that promise becomes an anchor 00:09:19.679 --> 00:09:24.240 to you for you to look at. Yes, in the flesh, 00:09:24.379 --> 00:09:28.200 they're your enemy and they don't see or appreciate 00:09:28.200 --> 00:09:33.580 what you see in Jesus. So he's saying here, concerning 00:09:33.580 --> 00:09:38.559 the gospel, Israel are your enemies for your 00:09:38.559 --> 00:09:49.990 sake. gives you enemies. For your sake. To have, 00:09:50.210 --> 00:09:55.389 listen, to just kind of crumple it up as used 00:09:55.389 --> 00:10:01.350 aluminum and to say, well, that's done. No. He's 00:10:01.350 --> 00:10:07.830 going to keep that group of people on the basis 00:10:08.679 --> 00:10:12.559 Of his foreknowledge and election. And I'm going 00:10:12.559 --> 00:10:16.519 to drill down on one part of this. So that you 00:10:16.519 --> 00:10:21.259 understand it. It is on the basis of his promise. 00:10:21.539 --> 00:10:25.620 Of his character. That it's impossible for him 00:10:25.620 --> 00:10:31.059 to lie. So therefore what God promised. As it 00:10:31.059 --> 00:10:34.039 says in the word. These two things are immutable, 00:10:34.120 --> 00:10:39.039 that God cannot lie and God swears by himself 00:10:39.039 --> 00:10:44.460 there is no higher realm. If he was to violate 00:10:44.460 --> 00:10:50.000 this tenet, then all of our promises are void. 00:10:51.600 --> 00:10:54.379 Please hear me on that for those that are trying 00:10:54.379 --> 00:10:58.059 to understand the theology of how does Israel 00:10:58.059 --> 00:11:00.799 and Palestine and where does all of this come 00:11:00.799 --> 00:11:05.200 into play? You have to understand that God understood 00:11:05.200 --> 00:11:08.700 that there was going to be enemies all the way 00:11:08.700 --> 00:11:11.779 through, even until the very end. Many will end 00:11:11.779 --> 00:11:16.139 up turning at the end, but not all. And the all 00:11:16.139 --> 00:11:19.340 doesn't mean that it's all of Israel that is 00:11:19.340 --> 00:11:22.399 all Israel. It also means all of Israel that 00:11:22.399 --> 00:11:26.340 believes, that has become Israel as Jew and Gentile 00:11:26.340 --> 00:11:30.019 in the Israel of God, the church. But it certainly 00:11:30.019 --> 00:11:34.559 includes Jews that are born again and choose 00:11:34.559 --> 00:11:39.220 Jesus as the Messiah. Listen, I'm highlighting 00:11:39.220 --> 00:11:44.159 this because your promises, my promises, are 00:11:44.159 --> 00:11:48.720 actually based out of this verse. But concerning 00:11:48.720 --> 00:11:53.200 election, they are beloved for the sake of the 00:11:53.200 --> 00:11:56.559 fathers. When you go, you see, oh man, there's 00:11:56.559 --> 00:12:01.179 so many trails, I can see them. I feel like I'm 00:12:01.179 --> 00:12:03.159 on the Oregon coast and there's just trails over 00:12:03.159 --> 00:12:10.080 sand dunes everywhere. The reality is this. Notice 00:12:10.080 --> 00:12:15.659 he says they are beloved. Beloved for the sake 00:12:15.659 --> 00:12:22.360 of the fathers. And it goes back to, again, we're 00:12:22.360 --> 00:12:26.460 highlighting, remember, Pentecost, Jesus' journey 00:12:26.460 --> 00:12:31.519 to Pentecost. In Romans 11, right here, verse 00:12:31.519 --> 00:12:35.580 28, it's actually highlighting something that 00:12:35.580 --> 00:12:40.559 happened in Genesis 12. Paul is bringing back 00:12:41.710 --> 00:12:44.769 to the mind of Jewish believers that are in Rome 00:12:44.769 --> 00:12:48.190 and Gentile believers, that the promise that 00:12:48.190 --> 00:12:52.769 when God turned, so to speak, and gave up the 00:12:52.769 --> 00:12:55.690 nations at the Tower of Babel and scattered them, 00:12:55.789 --> 00:13:00.090 and instead chose Abraham and built from Abraham 00:13:00.090 --> 00:13:05.590 a people, the fathers are not just random fathers. 00:13:06.190 --> 00:13:08.950 There were three fathers that he was talking 00:13:08.950 --> 00:13:12.090 to, representing a type, and I'm gonna say this 00:13:12.090 --> 00:13:15.029 carefully, representing a type and shadow of 00:13:15.029 --> 00:13:18.490 God himself in triune nature. The fathers were 00:13:18.490 --> 00:13:23.990 Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. So the promise to 00:13:23.990 --> 00:13:27.450 the fathers that were a type of, every time God 00:13:27.450 --> 00:13:31.669 refers to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, he's referring 00:13:31.669 --> 00:13:35.750 to that he sees them before them. He doesn't 00:13:35.750 --> 00:13:40.940 just refer to Israel as the 12 tribes. and look 00:13:40.940 --> 00:13:43.559 at their each identity, although he does, but 00:13:43.559 --> 00:13:46.580 in his heart, he refers to Abraham, Isaac, and 00:13:46.580 --> 00:13:49.940 Jacob, because when he made covenant with Abraham, 00:13:50.159 --> 00:13:53.419 he then reaffirmed it with Isaac and he reaffirmed 00:13:53.419 --> 00:13:56.700 it with Jacob. So anytime you read in the scriptures, 00:13:57.000 --> 00:14:00.980 he's made the election sake for the fathers. 00:14:01.120 --> 00:14:04.860 It's not any other fathers. It's those three. 00:14:06.250 --> 00:14:10.470 And in that truth, in that Abraham, Isaac, and 00:14:10.470 --> 00:14:14.730 Jacob of that, if you will, earthly type and 00:14:14.730 --> 00:14:18.230 shadow of father, son, Holy spirit. Notice what, 00:14:18.309 --> 00:14:20.809 what, what we highlighted Abraham, Isaac, and 00:14:20.809 --> 00:14:25.549 Jacob, the father who had what a promise who 00:14:25.549 --> 00:14:28.690 had the. Only begotten son. That's why God would 00:14:28.690 --> 00:14:32.470 not allow Ishmael to stand before him. Why? Because 00:14:32.470 --> 00:14:35.889 he was made out of mixture. He wasn't made out 00:14:35.889 --> 00:14:38.889 according to the promise. Ishmael was made according 00:14:38.889 --> 00:14:42.529 to the flesh. Isaac was birthed supernaturally 00:14:42.529 --> 00:14:45.610 by the spirit. When things were dead and impossible 00:14:45.610 --> 00:14:48.669 inside of the flesh, that there was no hope. 00:14:48.750 --> 00:14:52.389 God touched the womb. God touched the man. One that would represent 00:15:56.820 --> 00:16:00.120 the arm and the work of the flesh versus one 00:16:00.120 --> 00:16:03.659 that started off a deceiver and a manipulator 00:16:03.659 --> 00:16:07.379 who God would take and train his backside for 00:16:07.379 --> 00:16:10.980 about 20 years under Laban until he actually 00:16:10.980 --> 00:16:13.840 gets a limp and says, I can't be like my brother. 00:16:13.940 --> 00:16:16.740 I actually have to walk in the favor and in the 00:16:16.740 --> 00:16:21.200 grace of covenant. And the people that were 00:16:27.379 --> 00:16:32.220 born. Of that. Now listen. There was no Jewish 00:16:32.220 --> 00:16:37.700 person. Prior to Abraham. He was.
