And so 00:00:28.879 --> 00:00:31.859 if you're taking notes, the title of my message 00:00:31.859 --> 00:00:35.439 this morning is Holy Days and Holy Spirit. And 00:00:35.439 --> 00:00:37.020 for some of you, you might be thinking, holy 00:00:37.020 --> 00:00:40.020 days, that seems a little weird. But we actually 00:00:40.020 --> 00:00:43.640 do have times and days where we as a Christian 00:00:43.640 --> 00:00:48.259 church, we want to remember. There's a biblical 00:00:48.259 --> 00:00:52.060 principle that's called the principle of remembering. 00:00:52.719 --> 00:00:56.359 And it means to set up a memorial. It means to 00:00:56.359 --> 00:00:59.240 think about and to contemplate and to remember 00:00:59.240 --> 00:01:02.679 something with intent so that each and every 00:01:02.679 --> 00:01:06.540 new generation can actually live out the experiences 00:01:06.540 --> 00:01:10.159 of God from remembering what God did in a previous 00:01:10.159 --> 00:01:13.840 generation. Now, my wording is very specific. 00:01:13.939 --> 00:01:17.060 I didn't just say that they would remember so 00:01:17.060 --> 00:01:19.040 that it would just be an idea in their minds, 00:01:19.060 --> 00:01:21.099 but it would be something that they could actually 00:01:21.099 --> 00:01:25.250 live today. over and over and over again, that 00:01:25.250 --> 00:01:28.549 they would live out the experiences of what took 00:01:28.549 --> 00:01:30.549 place. That's why the book of Deuteronomy, the 00:01:30.549 --> 00:01:33.590 book of remembrance, is so important because 00:01:33.590 --> 00:01:36.390 it was about a new generation remembering what 00:01:36.390 --> 00:01:39.129 God did in Egypt and took them through the wilderness. 00:01:39.760 --> 00:01:43.079 so that they would experience their own encounter 00:01:43.079 --> 00:01:46.459 with God that was similar to what took place, 00:01:46.560 --> 00:01:49.379 but was at an even greater level than what God 00:01:49.379 --> 00:01:52.439 did before. This is what we want. We want to 00:01:52.439 --> 00:01:55.379 remember. Because if we don't remember, then 00:01:55.379 --> 00:01:58.260 what we will try to do is something that is brand 00:01:58.260 --> 00:02:01.000 new, rather than something that's actually old 00:02:01.000 --> 00:02:05.560 and tested and proven. We want, trust me, I want 00:02:05.560 --> 00:02:09.500 old school. I want old school. I should have 00:02:09.500 --> 00:02:14.159 been born in the 80s. I love 80s music. I love, 00:02:14.340 --> 00:02:15.639 and I'm not going to tell you the things that 00:02:15.639 --> 00:02:18.840 I listen to, but I'm telling you right now. I 00:02:18.840 --> 00:02:20.819 should have been born then. The movies, are you 00:02:20.819 --> 00:02:23.300 kidding me? Action movies were at their best 00:02:23.300 --> 00:02:28.139 in the 80s. So we remember. 00:03:04.680 --> 00:03:07.360 We remember the things that God has done because 00:03:07.360 --> 00:03:11.240 we want to not try and make something new that 00:03:11.240 --> 00:03:14.219 what God does, but actually build on what he's 00:03:14.219 --> 00:03:17.699 already building. And experience something that's 00:03:17.699 --> 00:03:20.860 similar. Just as the Israelites had to cross 00:03:20.860 --> 00:03:23.360 over a body of water, they crossed over the Jordan 00:03:23.360 --> 00:03:25.840 as the Israelites before crossed over the Red 00:03:25.840 --> 00:03:28.900 Sea. There is immense amount of times throughout 00:03:28.900 --> 00:03:32.719 scripture where God does something that points 00:03:32.719 --> 00:03:35.979 us back. To something God's done before. But 00:03:35.979 --> 00:03:38.580 he does it in a way that's unique to this generation. 00:03:39.060 --> 00:03:42.400 That builds upon the previous generation. That 00:03:42.400 --> 00:03:45.259 also sets up a platform for future generations. 00:03:46.340 --> 00:03:50.319 Because God is generational. He loves to reach 00:03:50.319 --> 00:03:53.979 the generations. And so what I want us to do 00:03:53.979 --> 00:03:56.000 is. I want us to operate in this principle of 00:03:56.000 --> 00:03:59.340 remembering. Because when we remember. This is 00:03:59.340 --> 00:04:01.300 not something just dedicated to the communion 00:04:01.300 --> 00:04:03.969 table. But this is something we actually should 00:04:03.969 --> 00:04:07.469 do for multiple aspects of Christianity. We need 00:04:07.469 --> 00:04:11.930 to remember that there was a day called Pentecost. 00:04:12.750 --> 00:04:15.770 Now, for many of us, there's tons of different, 00:04:15.849 --> 00:04:20.110 even just holy days or sacred times within the 00:04:20.110 --> 00:04:22.290 scriptures and that we remember it that is within 00:04:22.290 --> 00:04:25.490 church history as well. But one of the things 00:04:25.490 --> 00:04:29.050 we probably know best, the holidays, of course, 00:04:29.110 --> 00:04:31.990 is, you know, Resurrection Sunday. That's probably 00:04:31.990 --> 00:04:34.110 the most prominent one that we celebrate. And 00:04:34.110 --> 00:04:36.629 then we have Christmas. Okay, those are really 00:04:36.629 --> 00:04:39.310 big. And of course, you don't get presents on 00:04:39.310 --> 00:04:43.750 Pentecost Sunday. I think that might help. That 00:04:43.750 --> 00:04:45.930 might help a little bit for us to remember. We 00:04:45.930 --> 00:04:48.550 bust out some presents for people. But one of 00:04:48.550 --> 00:04:52.250 the things that I want to talk about this morning 00:04:52.250 --> 00:04:56.529 is the idea that when we think about Pentecost, 00:04:56.589 --> 00:05:00.439 it often kind of gets overlooked. because of, 00:05:00.459 --> 00:05:02.879 you know, like Easter, Resurrection Sunday, you 00:05:02.879 --> 00:05:05.360 got Good Friday, you have Christmas Eve, you 00:05:05.360 --> 00:05:07.040 have Christmas, you have Thanksgiving, you know, 00:05:07.040 --> 00:05:09.980 these holy days. That was a joke, by the way. 00:05:12.019 --> 00:05:14.339 It's a holy day in my house because I get to 00:05:14.339 --> 00:05:17.259 eat and it is not a sin of gluttony. So, because 00:05:17.259 --> 00:05:20.259 we're giving so much thanks, I'm just so thankful. 00:05:24.980 --> 00:05:30.689 But there is a, grander theme within the feasts 00:05:30.689 --> 00:05:33.370 of the Old Testament. And when we read the feasts 00:05:33.370 --> 00:05:35.470 of the Old Testament as Protestant Christians 00:05:35.470 --> 00:05:39.629 today, when we think about, okay, those feasts 00:05:39.629 --> 00:05:42.629 are good and great, but we don't really need 00:05:42.629 --> 00:05:44.610 to practice that. Yeah, I'm not saying we practice 00:05:44.610 --> 00:05:46.910 Judaism, but what we have to practice is the 00:05:46.910 --> 00:05:50.930 remembering of those holy days as Christ being 00:05:50.930 --> 00:05:54.529 the fulfillment of those days. So I hope to kind 00:05:54.529 --> 00:05:57.029 of shed some light on exactly the significance 00:05:57.029 --> 00:06:01.389 of this. And so let's take a quick moment to 00:06:01.389 --> 00:06:04.350 look at the scripture here in Luke 24, 27. This 00:06:04.350 --> 00:06:06.850 is really important for us. Whenever you read 00:06:06.850 --> 00:06:08.910 the Old Testament, you need to understand that 00:06:08.910 --> 00:06:12.149 when Jesus spoke, and any time when the Bible 00:06:12.149 --> 00:06:14.290 says in the scriptures, in the New Testament, 00:06:14.449 --> 00:06:16.550 do you know what scriptures he's talking about? 00:06:16.709 --> 00:06:21.410 The Old Testament. So that whole nonsense that... 00:06:21.879 --> 00:06:23.879 hullabaloo about how the Old Testament, we don't 00:06:23.879 --> 00:06:26.800 need it. Yeah, it's the same Bible that Jesus 00:06:26.800 --> 00:06:30.819 used. So we should probably use it too. But we 00:06:30.819 --> 00:06:32.920 read it in light of the new covenant, right? 00:06:33.019 --> 00:06:35.639 We don't interpret it to try to exactly copy. 00:06:35.759 --> 00:06:38.180 You have to have discernment and wisdom to understand 00:06:38.180 --> 00:06:40.560 how to interpret it. So read the Old Testament 00:06:40.560 --> 00:06:43.540 how Jesus did. So that's what we have to do. 00:06:43.579 --> 00:06:45.720 We have to read the Old Testament how Jesus did. 00:06:45.800 --> 00:06:47.980 But look at the scripture here that says, and 00:06:47.980 --> 00:06:51.949 beginning with Moses, And all of the prophets, 00:06:52.170 --> 00:06:55.870 he interpreted to them, he being Jesus, this 00:06:55.870 --> 00:06:58.189 is when they were on the road together, when 00:06:58.189 --> 00:07:01.329 the disciples had no idea who Jesus was. Jesus 00:07:01.329 --> 00:07:04.310 in his resurrected body and the perfect teacher 00:07:04.310 --> 00:07:08.089 that he is, he begins with Moses. And what does 00:07:08.089 --> 00:07:09.649 that mean? The first five books of the Bible 00:07:09.649 --> 00:07:11.389 were written by Moses. So he's referring to, 00:07:11.430 --> 00:07:14.430 he starts with the first five books of the Bible. 00:07:14.470 --> 00:07:17.290 Then he jumps beyond the history and goes to 00:07:17.290 --> 00:07:20.110 the prophets. And then I'm sure he goes into 00:07:20.110 --> 00:07:22.250 the rest of it because he says the beginning 00:07:22.250 --> 00:07:26.029 with these two things. He interpreted to them 00:07:26.029 --> 00:07:29.170 in all the scriptures. So he gets through all 00:07:29.170 --> 00:07:32.850 of the Old Testament on a walk. I mean, you think 00:07:32.850 --> 00:07:37.610 45 minutes of preaching is long. The things concerning 00:07:37.610 --> 00:07:44.790 who? Himself. Jesus preaches of himself. This 00:07:44.790 --> 00:07:48.939 is the goal of every preacher. is to preach like 00:07:48.939 --> 00:07:53.540 Jesus did, which is to preach about Jesus. And 00:07:53.540 --> 00:07:56.120 then in Colossians chapter two, verse 16 through 00:07:56.120 --> 00:07:59.279 17, it says here, therefore let no one pass judgment 00:07:59.279 --> 00:08:01.120 on you in questions of food or drink or with 00:08:01.120 --> 00:08:03.439 regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 00:08:03.699 --> 00:08:05.420 But this is the important thing you need to see. 00:08:05.980 --> 00:08:09.899 These are a shadow of the things to come. What 00:08:09.899 --> 00:08:11.639 is he referring to in the first half of this 00:08:11.639 --> 00:08:13.879 scripture? He's referring to the feast. He's 00:08:13.879 --> 00:08:16.540 referring to these special days in the Old Testament. 00:08:17.100 --> 00:08:19.040 And then look at what the apostle Paul does. 00:08:19.160 --> 00:08:22.360 He says, but listen, these things are a shadow, 00:08:22.439 --> 00:08:26.600 which means it is something like a sign. It is 00:08:26.600 --> 00:08:30.939 to be a figure or a type. It looks like the real 00:08:30.939 --> 00:08:35.779 thing, but isn't quite there yet. But this is 00:08:35.779 --> 00:08:38.539 what he says. He says, so what is the real thing? 00:08:38.759 --> 00:08:43.120 The substance, the matter of it, the weightiness 00:08:43.120 --> 00:08:49.419 of it, the fullness of it belongs to who? Christ. 00:08:49.419 --> 00:08:53.940 So this is what we're discussing today. We're 00:08:53.940 --> 00:08:58.519 discussing Jesus in the times of the holidays 00:08:58.519 --> 00:09:00.840 that we see in the Old Testament, but not just 00:09:00.840 --> 00:09:04.240 Christ, but the one whom the Son and the Father 00:09:04.240 --> 00:09:10.159 sent, the Holy Spirit himself. The Holy Spirit 00:09:10.159 --> 00:09:12.679 is so crucial, especially if you're a Christian, 00:09:12.740 --> 00:09:14.659 because if you're a Christian, you believe in 00:09:14.659 --> 00:09:16.919 the doctrine of the Trinity. which is if you 00:09:16.919 --> 00:09:19.480 don't know, then that's a big uh -oh, that you 00:09:19.480 --> 00:09:21.179 need to understand that we believe in the Father, 00:09:21.179 --> 00:09:25.179 the Son, and the Holy Spirit that are co -equal 00:09:25.179 --> 00:09:27.620 together of one essence but three distinct persons. 00:09:27.799 --> 00:09:33.139 We understand that the Holy Spirit is just as 00:09:33.139 --> 00:09:36.279 much God as Jesus, and Jesus is just as much 00:09:36.279 --> 00:09:40.980 God as the Father. We are not worshiping. We 00:09:40.980 --> 00:09:44.230 are not. Thinking of, we are not declaring or 00:09:44.230 --> 00:09:47.070 reading about a different God in the Old Testament 00:09:47.070 --> 00:09:49.509 than the New. The Bible says that I am the same 00:09:49.509 --> 00:09:54.929 yesterday, today, and forever. Which means he's 00:09:54.929 --> 00:09:57.370 not going to be a different God when he comes 00:09:57.370 --> 00:09:59.309 and judges the whole world. He's going to be 00:09:59.309 --> 00:10:02.490 the same God that saved the woman caught in adultery. 00:10:02.610 --> 00:10:05.769 The same God that brought the flood is the same 00:10:05.769 --> 00:10:08.549 God who was the one who died on the cross for 00:10:08.549 --> 00:10:12.309 you and I. This is the same God. They're not 00:10:12.309 --> 00:10:14.649 distinct. They are distinct, but they're not 00:10:14.649 --> 00:10:18.970 completely separate. They're not two different 00:10:18.970 --> 00:10:24.029 people. They're the same nature. So let's really 00:10:24.029 --> 00:10:26.610 quickly talk about Passover. When you think about 00:10:26.610 --> 00:10:28.529 Passover, of course, you think about Easter. 00:10:28.590 --> 00:10:30.809 You think about Jesus dying on the cross. Why? 00:10:31.149 --> 00:10:35.929 Because it signifies the lamb that was sacrificed 00:10:35.929 --> 00:10:39.230 in the Old Testament when they were the last 00:10:39.230 --> 00:10:43.450 plague. On Egypt, where the death angel is sent 00:10:43.450 --> 00:10:47.870 to kill all the firstborns. What ends up happening 00:10:47.870 --> 00:10:50.350 is, this is a plague that is not just going to 00:10:50.350 --> 00:10:52.610 affect the Egyptians, but also the Israelites. 00:10:52.870 --> 00:10:56.450 But God gives a solution to save them from this. 00:10:56.610 --> 00:10:58.789 And he says, you have to slay a lamb that is 00:10:58.789 --> 00:11:02.370 spotless, that is without blemish, and has to 00:11:02.370 --> 00:11:06.299 be... slain in their blood is put over their 00:11:06.299 --> 00:11:10.580 doorpost. Jesus Christ is the lamb that was slain 00:11:10.580 --> 00:11:14.659 that we no longer have to experience eternal 00:11:14.659 --> 00:11:18.179 death because of the blood of Jesus that is over 00:11:18.179 --> 00:11:21.139 us so that when the angel of death comes, it 00:11:21.139 --> 00:11:24.240 passes over every house with the blood of Jesus 00:11:24.240 --> 00:11:28.250 on it. That's why it's called Passover. Because 00:11:28.250 --> 00:11:31.590 death passed over them. Just as with us, death 00:11:31.590 --> 00:11:33.950 will pass over us because Jesus defeated death. 00:11:34.750 --> 00:11:41.039 So then we continue on to see that. Jesus takes 00:11:41.039 --> 00:11:45.000 this idea that from that moment of not just the 00:11:45.000 --> 00:11:47.399 Passover of death and being saved from death, 00:11:47.500 --> 00:11:50.820 but now an exodus from slavery, that Christ didn't 00:11:50.820 --> 00:11:52.980 just save them from death. He caused them to 00:11:52.980 --> 00:11:56.480 leave the nation of Egypt, to be set apart, to 00:11:56.480 --> 00:11:58.639 go and worship God and to go into the promised 00:11:58.639 --> 00:12:03.080 land of Canaan. For you and I. We are now exodus, 00:12:03.139 --> 00:12:07.500 delivered, set free from sin and the slave master 00:12:07.500 --> 00:12:10.559 of sin, according to Romans, and brought into 00:12:10.559 --> 00:12:14.759 now, underneath, into sonship, adopted as sons 00:12:14.759 --> 00:12:17.399 and daughters into the family of God. And so 00:12:17.399 --> 00:12:20.259 we're brought exodus from the sin of slavery, 00:12:20.519 --> 00:12:24.240 the slavery of sin, and brought into the, what 00:12:24.240 --> 00:12:27.340 is our promised land today? The presence of God. 00:12:28.879 --> 00:12:32.159 The presence of Jesus is our Canaan. And then 00:12:32.159 --> 00:12:35.419 this is the other aspect is we have in 1 Corinthians 00:12:35.419 --> 00:12:39.759 5, 7. This is my New Testament scripture to prove 00:12:39.759 --> 00:12:43.100 to you that Jesus represents that Passover lamb. 00:12:43.259 --> 00:12:44.899 It says, cleanse out the old leaven that you 00:12:44.899 --> 00:12:48.399 may be a new lump. As you really are unleavened 00:12:48.399 --> 00:12:52.559 for Christ, our Passover lamb has been sacrificed. 00:12:54.419 --> 00:12:56.779 Jesus is our Passover lamb. He's the one that 00:12:56.779 --> 00:13:03.100 makes Passover for us. Not only that, but we 00:13:03.100 --> 00:13:05.600 also have to remember that Jesus is the fulfillment 00:13:05.600 --> 00:13:10.179 of Passover. Jesus transitioned this understanding 00:13:10.179 --> 00:13:13.159 and brings us into a new light. Then we also 00:13:13.159 --> 00:13:16.500 have, in the New Testament, that the Passover 00:13:16.500 --> 00:13:19.340 equates to the cross of Jesus. Jesus dying on 00:13:19.340 --> 00:13:22.639 the cross and his resurrection. Then we have 00:13:22.639 --> 00:13:24.679 to go to the Feast of Tabernacles. Does anybody 00:13:24.679 --> 00:13:27.580 know what the Feast of Tabernacles is? You can 00:13:27.580 --> 00:13:31.019 raise your hand. Yeah, pretty much all the people 00:13:31.019 --> 00:13:32.940 that go to Pastor Brad's Revelation class do. 00:13:34.940 --> 00:13:37.620 Why is that significant? Because the Feast of 00:13:37.620 --> 00:13:40.419 Tabernacles is actually the last feast out of 00:13:40.419 --> 00:13:44.360 all the feasts, and it represents to us now the 00:13:44.360 --> 00:13:47.080 fulfillment of the end times. In other words, 00:13:47.100 --> 00:13:49.360 when Jesus returns, do you know in John 1, 1, 00:13:49.399 --> 00:13:51.460 when it says in the beginning was the word, right? 00:13:51.600 --> 00:13:53.580 And the word was with God and the word was God. 00:13:53.919 --> 00:13:58.019 And later in that chapter, it says, and the word 00:13:58.019 --> 00:14:00.700 dwelt among us. That word dwelt in the Greek 00:14:00.700 --> 00:14:04.200 is actually the word tabernacle. That Jesus came 00:14:04.200 --> 00:14:07.529 and tabernacled among us. It means he dwells 00:14:07.529 --> 00:14:10.549 with us, he lives with us. And so the word himself, 00:14:10.690 --> 00:14:14.389 being Jesus, came and tabernacled. Now, he tabernacled 00:14:14.389 --> 00:14:17.309 for a while, but then there will be a fulfillment 00:14:17.309 --> 00:14:20.850 of tabernacles when Jesus returns and now we 00:14:20.850 --> 00:14:24.639 are brought into. fellowship without any space 00:14:24.639 --> 00:14:27.259 between us, without any hindrance of selfishness 00:14:27.259 --> 00:14:30.159 or sin, but we will be perfected and we will 00:14:30.159 --> 00:14:33.179 be brought into restoration, resurrected to the 00:14:33.179 --> 00:14:36.279 fullness of salvation and the maturity into Christ, 00:14:36.460 --> 00:14:40.980 and we will be in perfect unity with God. That's 00:14:40.980 --> 00:14:45.659 going to be a really good day. That is what tabernacles 00:14:45.659 --> 00:14:49.049 are supposed to represent. When we understand 00:14:49.049 --> 00:14:53.250 that it is the final feast that celebrates God's 00:14:53.250 --> 00:14:55.690 goodness and provision at the end of the year. 00:14:56.789 --> 00:14:58.289 So at the end of the year, it's looking back 00:14:58.289 --> 00:14:59.909 going, God, look at what you've done. Look at 00:14:59.909 --> 00:15:02.009 what you're doing. And then he goes to say that 00:15:02.009 --> 00:15:04.789 in the book of Revelation, that after this battle 00:15:04.789 --> 00:15:07.549 against this woman of Babylon, censoring some 00:15:07.549 --> 00:15:10.070 things there, the woman of Babylon, the dragon 00:15:10.070 --> 00:15:12.950 and the forces of evil have been defeated. Christ 00:15:12.950 --> 00:15:16.909 will fully seal his victory. Jesus is victorious. 00:15:17.210 --> 00:15:20.789 Amen. But we still live in a world that has yet 00:15:20.789 --> 00:15:24.590 to know he's won. So when he comes back, there 00:15:24.590 --> 00:15:27.269 will be no questions about whether Jesus won 00:15:27.269 --> 00:15:30.629 or not. His victory will be fully sealed for 00:15:30.629 --> 00:15:33.909 all eternity and fully witnessed and fully realized 00:15:33.909 --> 00:15:39.370 when he comes back. That means that every form 00:15:39.370 --> 00:15:43.870 of sorrow, of pain will vanish and we will be 00:15:43.870 --> 00:15:46.909 in perfect unity with God under his perfect kingship 00:15:46.909 --> 00:15:51.129 with the creation redeemed and restored to a 00:15:51.129 --> 00:15:56.330 greater state than before. We will be, as what 00:15:56.330 --> 00:16:00.570 the Bible says, a new creation. Jesus will form 00:16:00.570 --> 00:16:03.539 a new heavens and a new earth. And it will be 00:16:03.539 --> 00:16:05.720 greater than what we have now. It will be greater 00:16:05.720 --> 00:16:11.799 than what it was before the fall. Today, I want 00:16:11.799 --> 00:16:14.600 to look at Pentecost. So we understand, okay, 00:16:14.639 --> 00:16:17.840 Passover, tabernacles, yes, really important. 00:16:20.779 --> 00:16:25.139 And when we think about Pentecost, sometimes 00:16:25.139 --> 00:16:29.360 it can get overshadowed. But Pentecost, in between 00:16:29.360 --> 00:16:33.279 all of this, is actually, just as significant 00:16:33.279 --> 00:16:38.120 as the others. And they said to one another, 00:18:03.359 --> 00:18:06.180 come, let us make bricks and burn them thoroughly. 00:18:06.460 --> 00:18:09.539 And they had brick for stone and budamin for 00:18:09.539 --> 00:18:13.039 mortar. And they said, come, let us build ourselves 00:18:13.039 --> 00:18:18.000 a city and a tower, significant, with its top 00:18:18.000 --> 00:18:22.079 in the heavens. And the Lord said, behold, they are one 00:18:33.599 --> 00:18:38.059 people and they have all one language. And this 00:18:38.059 --> 00:18:41.339 is only the beginning of what they will do. Come, let us go down and there confuse 00:18:48.099 --> 00:18:52.039 their language. so that they may not understand 00:18:52.039 --> 00:18:55.799 one another's speech. So the Lord dispersed them 00:18:55.799 --> 00:18:59.839 from there over the whole face of all the earth, 00:18:59.980 --> 00:19:03.900 and they left off building the city. Therefore, 00:19:04.039 --> 00:19:09.400 its name was called Babel, because the Lord confused 00:19:09.400 --> 00:19:11.200 the language of all the earth, and from there 00:19:11.200 --> 00:19:13.900 the Lord dispersed them over the face of all 00:19:13.900 --> 00:19:19.359 the earth. Couple quick observations. First thing 00:19:19.359 --> 00:19:22.559 is, They came from the east and they settled 00:19:22.559 --> 00:19:27.900 in the east. When you think about east, it actually 00:19:27.900 --> 00:19:33.059 is a subtle note that they are going to move 00:19:33.059 --> 00:19:36.680 away from God. Here's why we know that. Because 00:19:36.680 --> 00:19:38.680 when God pushed Adam and Eve out of the Garden 00:19:38.680 --> 00:19:43.660 of Eden, he pushed them east. When Cain was driven 00:19:43.660 --> 00:19:47.720 away from God's presence, he went east. In Genesis 00:19:47.720 --> 00:19:52.519 4, chapter 6. So going east represents a journey 00:19:52.519 --> 00:19:56.759 away from God. So when the people gather in the 00:19:56.759 --> 00:19:59.900 land of Shinar, which is in the east, the author 00:19:59.900 --> 00:20:02.720 tells us that what is about to happen is gonna 00:20:02.720 --> 00:20:08.140 make humanity move further away from God. Then 00:20:08.140 --> 00:20:09.839 we, of course, we have the name of the tower 00:20:09.839 --> 00:20:13.259 itself. Which if you read your whole Bible, you 00:20:13.259 --> 00:20:17.279 can see a connection between the name Babel and 00:20:17.279 --> 00:20:20.539 another city that's very prevalent called Babylon. 00:20:21.140 --> 00:20:26.319 And in Babylon and Babel, they represent everything 00:20:26.319 --> 00:20:31.440 that is in opposition to God. And the deification 00:20:31.440 --> 00:20:35.519 of self -will. Why do I say deification of self 00:20:35.519 --> 00:20:40.259 -will? It means to make myself God. To say, I 00:20:40.259 --> 00:20:43.339 don't want Yahweh. I don't want the God of Adam 00:20:43.339 --> 00:20:46.460 and Eve. I don't want that God. I want my own 00:20:46.460 --> 00:20:49.599 God of my own making. And my God is gonna look 00:20:49.599 --> 00:20:54.740 more like me than me looking like him. It's gonna be built up and comprised 00:21:01.380 --> 00:21:05.859 of my desires, my emotions, my wants. and all 00:21:05.859 --> 00:21:09.720 the things that make me happy, and then I'm going 00:21:09.720 --> 00:21:14.539 to give my life to it. It is opposite of God. 00:21:17.059 --> 00:21:21.859 It symbolizes a consistent symbol representing 00:21:21.859 --> 00:21:30.539 evil power and self -glorification. The city 00:21:30.539 --> 00:21:32.839 of Babylon, even in the time of when Daniel was 00:21:32.839 --> 00:21:35.440 there, you see that there was this battle of 00:21:35.440 --> 00:21:38.819 the self -glorification of Babylon itself as 00:21:38.819 --> 00:21:41.440 a nation. And even the king of Babylon glorifying 00:21:41.440 --> 00:21:46.400 himself as if he was a god. So this points together, 00:21:46.599 --> 00:21:51.119 Babel, Babylon, and then Babylon in the New Testament 00:21:51.119 --> 00:21:58.440 is used as a type or a shadow of the... what 00:21:58.440 --> 00:22:01.299 represents the kingdom of evil and the kingdom 00:22:01.299 --> 00:22:04.799 of darkness, Satan's kingdom, where Satan is 00:22:04.799 --> 00:22:07.400 a king that he calls himself God of this nation, 00:22:07.519 --> 00:22:12.539 Babylon. But 00:26:13.509 --> 00:26:16.950 to you and I, a tower is just a skyscraper, a 00:26:16.950 --> 00:26:18.730 really tall building. It doesn't mean much. It's 00:26:18.730 --> 00:26:22.289 just more floors for more things. But in the 00:26:22.289 --> 00:26:26.650 time of Babel, a tower, and through most of ancient 00:26:26.650 --> 00:26:32.670 history, a tower was a religious building. It 00:26:32.670 --> 00:26:38.269 represented a temple. dedicated to a God. This 00:26:38.269 --> 00:26:41.589 Tower of Babel, actually, it was man -centered 00:26:41.589 --> 00:26:44.609 and not God -centered. It was a temple focused 00:26:44.609 --> 00:26:48.130 on making a name for myself. They said so. Let 00:26:48.130 --> 00:26:51.829 us make a name for ourselves. Later 00:46:04.159 --> 00:46:08.699 in Jewish tradition, those two loaves would represent 00:46:08.699 --> 00:46:13.380 a time of thanksgiving for the two. that the 00:46:13.380 --> 00:46:15.300 Ten Commandments were written upon. It was a 00:46:15.300 --> 00:46:18.659 thanking God for his word and for his law. That's 00:46:18.659 --> 00:46:20.840 what Judaism turned it into. It turned it into 00:46:20.840 --> 00:46:23.420 a thanksgiving of law. But when we read it in 00:46:23.420 --> 00:46:26.239 its original context here in Leviticus 23, it 00:46:26.239 --> 00:46:29.059 is a thanksgiving connected to first fruits. 00:46:30.880 --> 00:46:36.199 And to recognize that God was Lord over the nation 00:46:36.199 --> 00:46:38.659 that they were going to become. He is the tower, then 00:52:01.440 --> 00:52:04.000 the temple, that allows you to be in unison with 00:52:04.000 --> 00:52:08.239 the Father. It's the Holy Spirit! And so on that 00:52:08.239 --> 00:52:11.239 day of Pentecost, this was not just a time to 00:52:11.239 --> 00:52:14.900 shout, and to do a bunch of cartwheels around 00:52:14.900 --> 00:52:17.840 the sanctuary. This was a day where God was saying 00:52:17.840 --> 00:52:21.460 that this is where I will now redeem every nation, 00:52:21.619 --> 00:52:25.360 every tribe, and every tongue under the power 00:52:25.360 --> 00:52:33.960 of the Holy Spirit into Jesus Christ.
