Why is it that when I call upon 00:05:35.389 --> 00:05:37.529 the Lord, I don't see the effect? And that's 00:05:37.529 --> 00:05:39.990 the problem. The question is wrong. Find the book that says the 00:06:27.529 --> 00:06:30.009 10 Top Reasons Why People Will Get a Miracle 00:06:30.009 --> 00:06:31.790 of God, and that's how I'm gonna approach it. 00:06:31.850 --> 00:06:34.230 The first one is a Syrian general by the name 00:06:34.230 --> 00:06:36.649 of Naaman. You're familiar with him in scripture? 00:06:37.029 --> 00:06:40.149 He was a man, and the story is found in 2 Kings 00:06:40.149 --> 00:06:43.470 chapter five and the opening 14 verses. And this 00:06:43.470 --> 00:06:45.449 is what you have with Naaman. I'm gonna summarize 00:06:45.449 --> 00:06:48.069 it and then explain it. What Naaman did that 00:06:48.069 --> 00:06:50.350 helped him get a miracle is he humbled himself. 00:06:50.529 --> 00:06:53.649 Someone say humbled. He humbled himself and did 00:06:53.649 --> 00:06:56.209 what the prophet instructed him to do the story 00:06:56.209 --> 00:06:58.529 in scripture quickly says something like this 00:06:58.529 --> 00:07:01.269 Naaman was a Syrian general who had many times 00:07:01.269 --> 00:07:03.689 rated Israel and as a result He had a young lady 00:07:03.689 --> 00:07:07.149 in his household. That was a slave girl that 00:07:07.149 --> 00:07:11.509 served him now She seen that her master had a 00:07:11.509 --> 00:07:14.430 condition called leprosy Which isn't very well 00:07:14.430 --> 00:07:16.509 known anymore in the world, especially in the 00:07:16.509 --> 00:07:19.529 United States. So I will I will parallel it It's 00:07:19.529 --> 00:07:22.629 not the same but I will parallel it Leprosy in 00:07:22.629 --> 00:07:25.829 that day was similar to AIDS of this day. It 00:07:25.829 --> 00:07:27.949 was a terrifying disease, it was an incurable 00:07:27.949 --> 00:07:29.670 disease, and it was a disease that would bring 00:07:29.670 --> 00:07:32.709 you down to a horrible death. And so this man 00:07:32.709 --> 00:07:35.149 has this plague. Now she looks at him and she 00:07:35.149 --> 00:07:38.250 says, if you only could get to the prophet in 00:07:38.250 --> 00:07:41.509 Israel, you could be healed of this disease. 00:07:41.769 --> 00:07:44.170 Wow, Naaman hears that and he thinks I'm going 00:07:44.170 --> 00:07:47.069 to find this guy. But he takes a route which 00:07:47.069 --> 00:07:50.139 is politically correct but not smart. What he 00:07:50.139 --> 00:07:52.879 does is he decides to go to the king of Israel. 00:07:52.920 --> 00:07:55.279 He sends him a letter. He comes there with a 00:07:55.279 --> 00:07:57.040 huge entourage. Now you gotta remember, this 00:07:57.040 --> 00:07:59.500 is a Syrian general who's already caused Israel 00:07:59.500 --> 00:08:01.620 a lot of headaches. But he comes to the king 00:08:01.620 --> 00:08:04.459 and he says, I'm coming to you that I might be 00:08:04.459 --> 00:08:07.649 healed of my leprosy. If you remember the story 00:08:07.649 --> 00:08:09.750 the king of Israel reads that and he says what 00:08:09.750 --> 00:08:13.009 is this guy up to and what's going on in his 00:08:13.009 --> 00:08:16.470 head? How can I or anyone heal him of leprosy 00:08:16.470 --> 00:08:19.050 really what he's doing is he's coming strategically 00:08:19.050 --> 00:08:22.920 just to start a fight but But now Elijah hears 00:08:22.920 --> 00:08:25.839 about what's going on and he says, would you 00:08:25.839 --> 00:08:28.360 send him to me that he may know that there is 00:08:28.360 --> 00:08:31.279 a prophet of God in Israel. And so Naaman now 00:08:31.279 --> 00:08:33.899 takes the trip to the prophet's home. Now when 00:08:33.899 --> 00:08:37.240 he gets to Elijah's home, he comes with all this 00:08:37.240 --> 00:08:40.000 pomp and fancy. He's got all these guys traveling 00:08:40.000 --> 00:08:43.299 with him. He's got camel loads of gifts to give 00:08:43.299 --> 00:08:46.720 the guy. I mean, he comes to do it upright and 00:08:46.720 --> 00:08:49.860 the prophet, watch this, I paraphrase it just 00:08:49.860 --> 00:08:53.190 a little bit, but he doesn't even get out of 00:08:53.190 --> 00:08:57.549 his lazy boy recliner. He doesn't even put his 00:08:57.549 --> 00:09:01.889 remote down to his Sony television set. He just 00:09:01.889 --> 00:09:04.590 simply says to one of his servants, would you 00:09:04.590 --> 00:09:08.509 please go outside and tell the general to go 00:09:08.509 --> 00:09:12.970 jump in the lake? Now again, I'm paraphrasing 00:09:12.970 --> 00:09:17.029 it just a little bit. I got that out of the message 00:09:17.029 --> 00:09:23.220 translation, no. I really boo boo, I know. But 00:09:23.220 --> 00:09:25.720 let me say to you in all fairness, that's the 00:09:25.720 --> 00:09:29.940 way that Naaman took it. That's how he felt about 00:09:29.940 --> 00:09:34.940 it. He was really offended. He said, who is this 00:09:34.940 --> 00:09:39.659 guy? I come all this way. I've got all these 00:09:39.659 --> 00:09:42.500 gifts for him. And he won't even come out of 00:09:42.500 --> 00:09:46.000 the house and talk with me. He sends some servant 00:09:46.000 --> 00:09:48.259 out here. They're telling me to go dip myself 00:09:48.259 --> 00:09:52.399 seven times in the Jordan River. He said, man, 00:09:52.399 --> 00:09:54.399 we got cleaner rivers than this in my own country. 00:09:54.460 --> 00:09:57.120 Why would I go? And he's really mad. And he actually 00:09:57.120 --> 00:09:59.039 says, I thought he would come out and he would 00:09:59.039 --> 00:10:02.100 wave his hand over the spot and he would call 00:10:02.100 --> 00:10:03.820 upon the name of his God, but he has none of 00:10:03.820 --> 00:10:07.759 that. Can I suggest 00:25:03.339 --> 00:25:05.960 to you that she had to push through the laws 00:25:05.960 --> 00:25:08.200 and the rules of her culture that would have 00:25:08.200 --> 00:25:11.680 kept her from coming to Jesus. If you know something 00:25:11.680 --> 00:25:14.279 about Jewish law at that point in time, with 00:25:14.279 --> 00:25:17.079 the condition that she was in, she was not allowed 00:25:17.079 --> 00:25:20.180 to be out in public. And she definitely was not 00:25:20.180 --> 00:25:22.880 allowed to be in physical contact with other 00:25:22.880 --> 00:25:25.680 people. That would risk her very life, even a 00:25:25.680 --> 00:25:28.539 stoning. She had no business moving out through 00:25:28.539 --> 00:25:31.019 that crowd.
