My father pioneered that church in March 00:02:05.609 --> 00:02:10.129 of 1975, and then through a really miraculous 00:02:10.129 --> 00:02:13.150 chain of events, we became the pastors in 93, 00:02:13.710 --> 00:02:18.539 and in 2010, 17 years later, We left that place 00:02:18.539 --> 00:02:21.840 with about $2 .5 million worth of buildings and 00:02:21.840 --> 00:02:24.900 property, about $150 ,000 left on a mortgage, 00:02:26.120 --> 00:02:30.159 and six and a half acres of property, and just 00:02:30.159 --> 00:02:33.280 a lot of cool stuff going on in our lives, and 00:02:33.280 --> 00:02:39.120 God ruined our life. No, just kidding. Maybe the promise 00:10:46.019 --> 00:10:49.799 itself is so Mind -boggling that we even can't 00:10:49.799 --> 00:10:52.419 hardly get our mind around it. Let alone believe 00:10:52.419 --> 00:10:57.259 God for what He actually said He would do. And 00:10:57.259 --> 00:10:59.600 we begin to just ask and question, Lord, how 00:10:59.600 --> 00:11:02.600 can this be? And you begin to ask those questions. 00:11:02.679 --> 00:11:04.559 And it's the words of Mary when the angel came 00:11:04.559 --> 00:11:07.100 to her and said, even though you have never known 00:11:07.100 --> 00:11:09.820 a man, you're going to be with child and so forth. 00:11:09.840 --> 00:11:13.059 And she goes, how can these things be? Has God 00:11:13.059 --> 00:11:14.820 ever given you a promise? And that's been your 00:11:14.820 --> 00:11:21.620 response. How can these things be? Here in Joshua 00:11:21.620 --> 00:11:26.710 chapter 1, God says I promise you what I promised 00:11:26.710 --> 00:11:29.309 Moses. I'm giving you all of this land. I'm giving 00:11:29.309 --> 00:11:32.210 you all of this inheritance I'm giving you all 00:11:32.210 --> 00:11:35.009 of these things that I'm going to be able to 00:11:35.009 --> 00:11:37.409 put into your hand and you are going to do My 00:11:37.409 --> 00:11:39.590 will and my plan and my purpose with all these 00:11:39.590 --> 00:11:42.509 things here It is you need to go in now and you 00:11:42.509 --> 00:11:44.830 need to possess it and when it comes to these 00:11:44.830 --> 00:11:48.029 Promises that you have been given by God. I think 00:11:48.029 --> 00:11:50.250 that there's some things you we all need to understand 00:11:51.519 --> 00:11:54.519 There's three dynamics of these promises that 00:11:54.519 --> 00:11:56.379 I think we need to kind of get into our heart 00:11:56.379 --> 00:11:59.399 if You're gonna see the promises of God fulfilled 00:11:59.399 --> 00:12:02.000 in your life. You need to you do need to understand 00:12:02.000 --> 00:12:05.240 these things You didn't do need to get these 00:12:05.240 --> 00:12:07.940 things in your heart because if you don't get 00:12:07.940 --> 00:12:10.639 it You're going to miss the fulfillment of the 00:12:10.639 --> 00:12:13.720 promise in your life. I can't tell you how many 00:12:13.720 --> 00:12:18.240 times I have seen believers and churches, Christians 00:12:18.240 --> 00:12:20.879 who have been given promises by God, but because 00:12:20.879 --> 00:12:24.159 they did not get these three dynamics, they didn't 00:12:24.159 --> 00:12:27.480 understand the fulfillment. They never saw the 00:12:27.480 --> 00:12:29.580 fulfillment of the word of the Lord to their 00:12:29.580 --> 00:12:33.039 life. The first one is the giving of the promise. 00:12:34.000 --> 00:12:36.679 It's the promise that's given. And this is really 00:12:36.679 --> 00:12:38.519 all on God because, you know, you can't make 00:12:38.519 --> 00:12:42.659 up promises for yourself. I promise myself. You 00:12:42.659 --> 00:12:46.580 know, you can't do that. So God is the one that's 00:12:46.580 --> 00:12:48.840 the promise giver, right? He's the one that says, 00:12:48.980 --> 00:12:50.879 this is what you're going to do. And notice in 00:12:50.879 --> 00:12:53.840 Joshua chapter 1, Joshua doesn't say, you know, 00:12:53.860 --> 00:12:58.019 I think I would like the land, you know, like 00:12:58.019 --> 00:13:00.519 from the River Euphrates maybe to the Mediterranean, 00:13:00.919 --> 00:13:05.620 and I'll take, you know. Notice that wasn't going 00:13:05.620 --> 00:13:08.840 on. God is the one that said, no, this is the 00:13:08.840 --> 00:13:10.399 land. First of all, I'm gonna give you the land. 00:13:10.860 --> 00:13:12.080 That's the first part of the problem. Next part, 00:13:12.080 --> 00:13:14.879 this is what it's gonna be. It's gonna be from 00:13:14.879 --> 00:13:17.080 Lebanon down to the Negev. It's gonna be from 00:13:17.080 --> 00:13:19.100 the River Euphrates over to the Mediterranean. 00:13:19.440 --> 00:13:21.720 And if you ever look at that on a map of the 00:13:21.720 --> 00:13:25.220 Bible, you'll understand that is a massive piece 00:13:25.220 --> 00:13:32.860 of property. It's huge. Interestingly enough, 00:13:32.980 --> 00:13:35.799 I don't think that in all of the time of the 00:13:35.799 --> 00:13:38.720 history of Israel, they ever fully possessed 00:13:38.720 --> 00:13:41.679 that piece of real estate. They never got that 00:13:41.679 --> 00:13:43.220 whole piece of land. If you look it on a map, 00:13:43.559 --> 00:13:45.659 they didn't possess all of that. David got real 00:13:45.659 --> 00:13:48.519 close, but not all the way to the river of Euphrates. 00:13:50.019 --> 00:13:53.980 That's in modern -day Iraq. Didn't get all the 00:13:53.980 --> 00:13:58.220 way that far. But God gave him a promise and 00:13:58.220 --> 00:14:00.419 said, this is what it is. This is amazing. Can 00:14:00.419 --> 00:14:03.080 I just tell you something? I'm gonna hit this 00:14:03.080 --> 00:14:05.580 on the second service tomorrow morning. But the 00:14:05.580 --> 00:14:07.899 promise of God is always bigger than you think 00:14:07.899 --> 00:14:13.399 it is. It's always more expensive. It's always 00:14:13.399 --> 00:14:16.200 richer. It's always greater. It's always more 00:14:16.200 --> 00:14:19.220 fruitful. It's always more dynamic than you really 00:14:19.220 --> 00:14:23.649 think it is. And so one of the things that we're 00:14:23.649 --> 00:14:25.169 going to talk about at the second service tomorrow, 00:14:25.250 --> 00:14:27.190 I won't jump ahead of myself, but just that, 00:14:27.210 --> 00:14:32.070 do you see what God sees? But tonight I want 00:14:32.070 --> 00:14:34.049 you to get an understanding that there's the 00:14:34.049 --> 00:14:35.990 giving of the promise. This is on God. He does 00:14:35.990 --> 00:14:38.409 it. Number two, the second dynamic of promises 00:14:38.409 --> 00:14:41.330 is the possessing of the promise. And this is 00:14:41.330 --> 00:14:43.389 when there's a promise that's been given, but 00:14:43.389 --> 00:14:45.190 then there's the possessing of the promise, and 00:14:45.190 --> 00:14:48.690 that is all on you. Yeah, God helps, and He opens 00:14:48.690 --> 00:14:50.529 doors, and there's all of those dynamics, which 00:14:50.529 --> 00:14:52.860 He does. which He's already committed to since 00:14:52.860 --> 00:14:54.940 He gave you the promise. So the possessing of 00:14:54.940 --> 00:14:58.639 the promise really is on you. You have to believe 00:14:58.639 --> 00:15:00.919 the promise when it's given to you. Can I ask 00:15:00.919 --> 00:15:03.340 you, do you still believe the promise even though 00:15:03.340 --> 00:15:07.220 it's been a few years? Do you still believe the 00:15:07.220 --> 00:15:09.019 word of the Lord to you even though it's been 00:15:09.019 --> 00:15:12.879 a while? Do you really believe that God meant 00:15:12.879 --> 00:15:16.340 what He said when He said it to you? Do you still 00:15:16.340 --> 00:15:18.720 believe? Do you still have it burning in your 00:15:18.720 --> 00:15:21.419 heart? Or has it died down a little bit? Or has 00:15:21.419 --> 00:15:24.240 it gone down in fervor? Has it dimmed in its 00:15:24.240 --> 00:15:26.519 brightness and vision? Has it really burning 00:15:26.519 --> 00:15:28.580 brightly in your heart? You've got to believe 00:15:28.580 --> 00:15:30.340 it. And another thing is you've got to take action 00:15:30.340 --> 00:15:33.279 on it. You've got to, in possessing the promise, 00:15:33.440 --> 00:15:35.940 you've got to act. You've actually got to cross 00:15:35.940 --> 00:15:38.080 the Jordan River. You really actually got to 00:15:38.080 --> 00:15:39.940 go to the city of Jericho. You actually have 00:15:39.940 --> 00:15:42.200 to stand there and really begin to go, God, how 00:15:42.200 --> 00:15:43.919 do we take this one? You actually have to do something. 00:15:50.389 --> 00:15:52.669 And I'm shocked and amazed at how somebody can 00:15:52.669 --> 00:15:54.909 actually receive a promise or I've laid hands 00:15:54.909 --> 00:15:57.470 sometimes unfortunately on empty heads and I 00:15:57.470 --> 00:15:59.289 have prophesied the word of the Lord and have 00:15:59.289 --> 00:16:02.809 only watched as they have sat on that word and 00:16:02.809 --> 00:16:07.190 it has gone nowhere because they have gone nowhere. 00:16:10.549 --> 00:16:13.350 See the promises of God are not unconditional 00:16:13.350 --> 00:16:19.179 to you.
