We looked at that in John 00:05:13.290 --> 00:05:22.319 chapter 13. The next time that Jesus had his 00:05:22.319 --> 00:05:26.259 garments touched. If I could set the stage this 00:05:26.259 --> 00:05:30.519 morning, as we come to this table, one of the 00:05:30.519 --> 00:05:33.939 key things about coming to the communion table 00:05:33.939 --> 00:05:38.639 is understanding and evaluating and appreciating 00:05:38.639 --> 00:05:41.939 what the Lord has done for you and I that we 00:05:41.939 --> 00:05:48.040 might appreciate our salvation. Our appreciation, 00:05:48.560 --> 00:05:54.379 our wonder, our love for him should grow every 00:05:54.379 --> 00:05:58.720 time we take this table. And as I was going through 00:05:58.720 --> 00:06:02.560 and I had looked at John 13 and we talked about 00:06:02.560 --> 00:06:07.180 it at supper, Jesus got up and setting aside 00:06:07.180 --> 00:06:09.920 his garments and took the lowest place as the 00:06:09.920 --> 00:06:13.399 servant in John 13 and he washed the disciples' 00:06:13.660 --> 00:06:17.019 feet and we recognize, Jesus was willing to lay 00:06:17.019 --> 00:06:23.060 aside every aspect, every title, every single 00:06:23.060 --> 00:06:26.120 thing that man would have put on him to do what? 00:06:26.160 --> 00:06:29.779 To model, but not to model for model's sake, 00:06:29.879 --> 00:06:34.279 but to live and show that that element of who 00:06:34.279 --> 00:06:39.480 he is is not only was real with them, but it's 00:06:39.480 --> 00:06:45.759 real with us. And then we, We move into, if you 00:06:45.759 --> 00:06:49.439 will, the Passion Week story. And we begin to, 00:06:49.540 --> 00:06:51.339 you can go ahead and just hold there, but you 00:06:51.339 --> 00:06:57.600 stay there. I won't be long. We move into the 00:06:57.600 --> 00:07:02.860 Passion Week story and we move into the time 00:07:02.860 --> 00:07:07.939 of sham trial, the time of betrayal, the time 00:07:07.939 --> 00:07:14.180 of going to the cross. I think, Jesus' understanding 00:07:14.180 --> 00:07:20.000 here of laying aside the garment on the institution, 00:07:20.060 --> 00:07:23.079 finishing Passover and inaugurating communion. 00:07:23.620 --> 00:07:26.480 The apostle Peter really had something to say 00:07:26.480 --> 00:07:30.339 about this when he said in 1 Peter 5, 5, he said, 00:07:30.399 --> 00:07:35.639 clothe yourself, all of you, with humility toward 00:07:35.639 --> 00:07:40.540 one another. For God opposes the proud, but gives 00:07:40.540 --> 00:07:44.730 grace to the humble. And as I was just looking 00:07:44.730 --> 00:07:48.589 at John 13 and getting myself immersed in that 00:07:48.589 --> 00:07:51.470 passage and listening to the Lord as he's dealing 00:07:51.470 --> 00:07:54.189 with each disciple and dealing with Peter specifically, 00:07:54.430 --> 00:07:58.449 it dawned on me as I read 1 Peter 5. Peter was... 00:07:58.889 --> 00:08:01.470 Peter wasn't writing the scripture just from 00:08:01.470 --> 00:08:04.449 only having a reference of, okay, I'm just now 00:08:04.449 --> 00:08:06.930 hearing that from the Lord. Yes, he did hear 00:08:06.930 --> 00:08:09.350 it by the Spirit of God as he was moved along 00:08:09.350 --> 00:08:12.529 to write this in 1 Peter 5, 5. But his reference 00:08:12.529 --> 00:08:17.410 would have been the table where Jesus was washing 00:08:17.410 --> 00:08:21.410 feet. That would have been a direct reference 00:08:21.410 --> 00:08:23.569 as the Holy Spirit would have brought his mind 00:08:23.569 --> 00:08:30.250 right back to watching Jesus take off his, put 00:08:30.250 --> 00:08:33.389 on the servant's towel, which was the clothing 00:08:33.389 --> 00:08:38.190 of humility toward one another. And that's the 00:08:38.190 --> 00:08:42.570 whole verse of John 13. As you've seen me do 00:08:42.570 --> 00:08:46.950 this to you, now do to one another. And so Peter 00:08:46.950 --> 00:08:50.429 brings this back up in his letter. He says, clothe 00:08:50.429 --> 00:08:54.429 yourself. And then he said, all of you. He didn't 00:08:54.429 --> 00:08:58.149 leave out one person. He didn't leave out. the 00:08:58.149 --> 00:09:01.330 one that maybe already feels humble. He didn't 00:09:01.330 --> 00:09:06.490 leave out the wealthy or the leader. He said, 00:09:06.629 --> 00:09:11.730 all of you put on and clothe yourself with humility 00:09:11.730 --> 00:09:15.590 toward one another for God opposes the proud 00:09:15.590 --> 00:09:20.269 but gives grace to the humble. And we can all 00:09:20.269 --> 00:09:22.730 see the incredible love and humility in Jesus' 00:09:22.809 --> 00:09:25.870 demonstration at his table with his own disciples. 00:09:27.130 --> 00:09:31.409 That's evident. But what happens when it's not 00:09:31.409 --> 00:09:36.370 about, what happens when humility is asked of 00:09:36.370 --> 00:09:39.049 us and it's not about with those that are with 00:09:39.049 --> 00:09:44.809 you? It's one thing in a beautiful environment 00:09:44.809 --> 00:09:49.690 with the piano playing just lightly, just something, 00:09:49.789 --> 00:09:54.190 just quick, just quickly. Oh, you took everything 00:09:54.190 --> 00:09:55.690 off. I just needed you to play something just 00:09:55.690 --> 00:10:09.909 real quick. You see, when the environment is 00:10:09.909 --> 00:10:14.070 beautiful and like, you know, you just kind of 00:10:14.070 --> 00:10:17.970 just, you know, synchronize church worship, you 00:10:17.970 --> 00:10:26.909 know. It's one thing to wash one another's feet 00:10:26.909 --> 00:10:31.570 in a setting where there's relationship and love 00:10:31.570 --> 00:10:35.830 and mutual respect and admiration. It's another 00:10:35.830 --> 00:10:39.750 thing when you deal with people that aren't part 00:10:39.750 --> 00:10:50.399 of you. Their shoes aren't quite as nice. Okay, 00:10:50.440 --> 00:10:54.259 good. Yeah, let's not hurt him. I know, I hurt 00:10:54.259 --> 00:10:55.740 him quite a bit most of the time, so we're going 00:10:55.740 --> 00:10:58.519 to be gentle. So the Lord says you have to be 00:10:58.519 --> 00:11:03.500 gentle with the Gentiles. In the fact that when 00:11:03.500 --> 00:11:11.539 people aren't so lovely, when they're not as 00:11:11.539 --> 00:11:19.970 friendly, when they don't know you, Or they don't 00:11:19.970 --> 00:11:24.750 want to know you. What does it look like to put 00:11:24.750 --> 00:11:26.950 on the garment of humility? It didn't say when 00:11:26.950 --> 00:11:32.129 conditions are right, then put it on. It's when 00:11:32.129 --> 00:11:35.990 conditions, weather conditions are always perfect 00:11:35.990 --> 00:11:40.509 for the garment of humility. There's never a 00:11:40.509 --> 00:11:45.929 time where the garment of humility doesn't suit 00:11:45.929 --> 00:11:49.980 the occasion. And so when we think about this 00:11:49.980 --> 00:11:52.720 next time, what Jesus goes into, of course, he 00:11:52.720 --> 00:11:56.679 models and he lives among those that he loved 00:11:56.679 --> 00:11:59.440 and he gave his life for. But as we move into 00:11:59.440 --> 00:12:02.080 this next process, the next process where we 00:12:02.080 --> 00:12:06.480 see Jesus having his garments removed, it wasn't 00:12:06.480 --> 00:12:09.080 purposeful out of loving service for the disciples. 00:12:09.299 --> 00:12:12.899 The next time his garments are removed, it is 00:12:12.899 --> 00:12:18.879 Jesus submitting to the fact that his garments 00:12:18.879 --> 00:12:24.080 are being either forced off of him or others' 00:12:24.200 --> 00:12:29.320 garments are being put on him. Jesus humbly, 00:12:29.360 --> 00:12:33.500 peacefully yields to the act of removal of garments 00:12:33.500 --> 00:12:39.200 when it wasn't him that initiated it. As I was 00:12:39.200 --> 00:12:42.759 reading this passage, I thought, Lord, this is 00:12:42.759 --> 00:12:48.100 where persecution... begins to work at the church 00:12:48.100 --> 00:12:53.419 at a different level. It's one thing when we 00:12:53.419 --> 00:12:56.019 all can get along. It's another thing when we're, 00:12:56.039 --> 00:12:59.039 maybe we don't all get along, but we're trying 00:12:59.039 --> 00:13:01.600 to love one another in the spirit of unity and 00:13:01.600 --> 00:13:05.000 we're now told to be humble and forgiving with 00:13:05.000 --> 00:13:08.740 one another. It's when now you're forced into 00:13:08.740 --> 00:13:11.980 places that others choose to remove your garment. 00:13:13.440 --> 00:13:19.429 What do you do? When others choose to remove 00:13:19.429 --> 00:13:24.629 the garment that God gave you, your dignity, 00:13:24.889 --> 00:13:30.850 your honor, what happens when they remove that? 00:13:30.929 --> 00:13:35.950 What comes out? As we begin to see in Jesus' 00:13:36.110 --> 00:13:40.409 life, Jesus humbly and peacefully yields to the 00:13:40.409 --> 00:13:46.580 acts of his removal of garments. Out of love 00:13:46.580 --> 00:13:48.879 for the Father and out of love for you and I. 00:13:49.899 --> 00:13:54.980 The second reference here is seen in Luke chapter 00:13:54.980 --> 00:14:00.860 23, verse 8 through 11. When Herod saw Jesus, 00:14:01.220 --> 00:14:05.159 Herod was very glad for he desired to see Jesus 00:14:05.159 --> 00:14:07.799 and had heard about him and he was hoping to 00:14:07.799 --> 00:14:13.539 see some sign done by him. So Herod questioned 00:14:13.539 --> 00:14:18.120 Jesus. At some length. But Jesus made no answer. 00:14:18.820 --> 00:14:23.460 The chief priests and the scribes stood by. Vehemently. 00:14:24.000 --> 00:14:28.340 Accusing him. Now. If you've watched any form 00:14:28.340 --> 00:14:33.899 of news. Over the last. Several weeks. You have 00:14:33.899 --> 00:14:38.820 seen people. Vehemently. Get in someone's face. 00:14:38.919 --> 00:14:44.429 And accuse. The accusations. invading of personal 00:14:44.429 --> 00:14:48.649 space the and I'm not saying I'm not talking 00:14:48.649 --> 00:14:51.049 about the legal issue of the right to protest 00:14:51.049 --> 00:14:57.190 I'm talking about the viciousness of it Herod 00:14:57.190 --> 00:15:00.210 now listen I'm using it as a context to put your 00:15:00.210 --> 00:15:06.370 mind now at Herod's palace at the if you will 00:15:06.370 --> 00:15:10.679 the palace governmental court And the atmosphere 00:15:10.679 --> 00:15:14.000 that was around Jesus at that moment, take what 00:15:14.000 --> 00:15:17.620 you've seen on the news and transfer it now into 00:15:17.620 --> 00:15:22.059 black and white at that palace at that day is 00:15:22.059 --> 00:15:24.539 exactly the environment of what this is saying. 00:15:24.799 --> 00:15:30.419 They were vehemently accusing him. And Herod 00:15:30.419 --> 00:15:34.159 and his soldiers treated Jesus with contempt 00:15:34.159 --> 00:15:37.940 and mocked him. It's the whole context for why 00:15:37.940 --> 00:15:42.480 I brought up what I'm bringing up. Verse 12 of 00:15:42.480 --> 00:15:48.399 Luke 23. Then arraying Jesus in splendid clothing, 00:15:48.899 --> 00:15:56.379 Herod sent Jesus back to Pilate. Standing before 00:15:56.379 --> 00:16:01.779 Herod, Herod known as one of the most bloodthirsty 00:16:01.779 --> 00:16:05.399 and evil kings that Jerusalem had ever known. 00:16:05.840 --> 00:16:08.039 This is the same one that ordered because he 00:16:08.039 --> 00:16:11.340 didn't know in the lineage, they didn't know 00:16:11.340 --> 00:16:13.919 where the baby Jesus would be born, ordered for 00:16:13.919 --> 00:16:16.139 the destruction of all the two and three -year 00:16:16.139 --> 00:16:21.220 -old male children of his own people. Jesus did 00:16:21.220 --> 00:16:25.539 not answer one question. Jesus did not do one 00:16:25.539 --> 00:16:30.139 thing to impress or turn the tide. Jesus did 00:16:30.139 --> 00:16:38.529 not impede in any way their full, mockery, insults, 00:16:38.529 --> 00:16:44.789 false witnesses, blasphemy, intensity, and he 00:16:44.789 --> 00:16:51.830 did not stop them from putting on him something 00:16:51.830 --> 00:16:58.350 that was of their own making. Isaiah 53, 7 says 00:16:58.350 --> 00:17:03.470 this, Jesus was oppressed. He was afflicted. 00:17:04.039 --> 00:17:08.259 and yet he opened not his mouth. Like a lamb 00:17:08.259 --> 00:17:10.960 that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep 00:17:10.960 --> 00:17:15.460 before a shearer's is silent, so he opened not 00:17:15.460 --> 00:17:20.759 his mouth. This prophecy was fulfilled standing 00:17:20.759 --> 00:17:26.220 in front of Herod. Now listen, it says if you 00:17:26.220 --> 00:17:29.220 read different gospel accounts, it was in front 00:17:29.220 --> 00:17:33.490 of scribes and Pharisees. It means what? team 00:17:33.490 --> 00:17:40.009 of lawyers, a team of religious clergy, soldiers 00:17:40.009 --> 00:17:45.289 in high command and government officials. He 00:17:45.289 --> 00:17:49.630 opened not his mouth. Notice Herod's questioning 00:17:49.630 --> 00:17:55.710 was at length. Accusations came from the religious 00:17:55.710 --> 00:17:58.289 leaders and the scribes. Have you ever watched 00:17:58.289 --> 00:18:05.230 a committee meeting on C -SPAN? Okay, three of 00:18:05.230 --> 00:18:09.109 you, great. I know it's just part of our national 00:18:09.109 --> 00:18:13.230 process, but in that process, if you watch a 00:18:13.230 --> 00:18:17.210 committee call in a special witness, you watch 00:18:17.210 --> 00:18:22.170 on the politically charged stage on those that 00:18:22.170 --> 00:18:25.609 whoever's on that committee trying to ask questions 00:18:25.609 --> 00:18:29.369 to most of the time, not to find out the truth, 00:18:29.470 --> 00:18:34.480 but to prove a political agenda. And you watch 00:18:34.480 --> 00:18:37.440 the source of questions. Even when the true answers 00:18:37.440 --> 00:18:39.900 are given, for the most part, they just keep 00:18:39.900 --> 00:18:42.420 asking other questions. It doesn't matter. It's 00:18:42.420 --> 00:18:47.140 A, you have to sit and endure the ridicule. And 00:18:47.140 --> 00:18:50.059 that's what it's become, unfortunately. Here 00:18:50.059 --> 00:18:54.680 Jesus is standing at the ridicule. Herod and 00:18:54.680 --> 00:18:56.819 his soldiers are treating Jesus with contempt. 00:18:56.940 --> 00:19:02.579 And Jesus never loses the garment of humility. 00:19:05.200 --> 00:19:08.039 Now we don't know, the scriptures is silent in 00:19:08.039 --> 00:19:15.799 this part and it's a 50 -50 point. Did they keep 00:19:15.799 --> 00:19:20.500 Jesus' garments on him and put their own over 00:19:20.500 --> 00:19:26.200 the top? Or did they disrobe Jesus and put the 00:19:26.200 --> 00:19:29.460 garments on? Because the text is silent, we probably 00:19:29.460 --> 00:19:31.720 would have to lean on the fact that they just 00:19:31.720 --> 00:19:36.170 covered up what Jesus was wearing. With the garments 00:19:36.170 --> 00:19:40.730 that they brought. What does the text say? They 00:19:40.730 --> 00:19:44.009 brought garments out from the king's palace. 00:19:45.410 --> 00:19:48.769 The only garments. That are going to be from 00:19:48.769 --> 00:19:54.210 the king's palace. Was Herod's personal clothing. 00:19:55.549 --> 00:19:58.170 That because. And you need to see the intensity 00:19:58.170 --> 00:20:01.250 of the mocking. As we get ready to take this. 00:20:02.269 --> 00:20:06.869 Because it wasn't not. just a servant's garment. 00:20:08.950 --> 00:20:15.329 They were expecting from the rumors of Jesus' 00:20:15.549 --> 00:20:18.430 three and a half ministry, they were expecting 00:20:18.430 --> 00:20:25.750 a world -renowned something. No one had done 00:20:25.750 --> 00:20:28.670 the miracles that Jesus and his team had done 00:20:28.670 --> 00:20:34.390 by the very power of God. No one had more, raising 00:20:34.390 --> 00:20:39.730 from the dead ever. No prophet in history had 00:20:39.730 --> 00:20:42.809 raised that many from the dead. Jesus had already 00:20:42.809 --> 00:20:52.769 raised a boy, a girl, Lazarus. Herod was expecting, 00:20:52.970 --> 00:20:56.309 he'd met John, he liked John, didn't like his 00:20:56.309 --> 00:21:00.210 message, and ended up having to kill John because 00:21:00.210 --> 00:21:03.829 of his rash oath. And now he's standing to the 00:21:03.829 --> 00:21:06.529 one that John said he was the forerunner of, 00:21:06.609 --> 00:21:11.210 that he wasn't even fit to untie this man's sandals. 00:21:11.210 --> 00:21:16.369 And Herod is almost giddy with excitement of 00:21:16.369 --> 00:21:19.750 getting to now be brought to him in a personal 00:21:19.750 --> 00:21:23.789 audience, this man who claimed to be the son 00:21:23.789 --> 00:21:31.819 of God. And Jesus said nothing. and did nothing. 00:21:36.140 --> 00:21:44.920 Hmm. Said nothing, and did nothing. And because 00:21:44.920 --> 00:21:49.319 of that, after question, after question, provoking, 00:21:49.319 --> 00:21:54.019 accusations, sedition charges, false witness, 00:21:54.259 --> 00:21:56.920 finally it was said, and you can just hear it, 00:21:56.940 --> 00:22:01.160 hear it, bring me a garment. From my closet. 00:22:03.160 --> 00:22:07.140 Most likely it was a used garment. But one of 00:22:07.140 --> 00:22:11.279 the finest. That the world could have made. Garments 00:22:11.279 --> 00:22:16.180 that were crafted. For kings. And royalty. Jesus 00:22:16.180 --> 00:22:20.859 never asked for a beautiful robe. Jesus. Jesus 00:22:20.859 --> 00:22:24.460 never asked. For a kingly robe. Or for worldly 00:22:24.460 --> 00:22:30.539 rulers robe. Yet. If anyone deserved to wear 00:22:30.539 --> 00:22:32.559 something like that, it would have been the Lord. 00:22:33.200 --> 00:22:38.500 But Herod ordered a garment of political importance 00:22:38.500 --> 00:22:44.400 to be placed on Jesus. And in doing so, Herod's 00:22:44.400 --> 00:22:50.500 mockery and shame would be placed on Jesus as 00:22:50.500 --> 00:22:55.740 a garment representing this man. By Herod doing 00:22:55.740 --> 00:23:02.809 this, This man is only fit, of all you people 00:23:02.809 --> 00:23:06.390 that think he's something, he's only fit to wear 00:23:06.390 --> 00:23:14.269 my leftovers. Jesus standing there now in one 00:23:14.269 --> 00:23:18.710 of Herod's garments is now being sent back to 00:23:18.710 --> 00:23:24.650 Pilate. A mocking gesture. Herod was saved to 00:23:24.650 --> 00:23:29.880 Pilate with, Herod now sending Jesus in that 00:23:29.880 --> 00:23:32.079 garment. Jesus didn't say anything, didn't do 00:23:32.079 --> 00:23:34.579 anything. And the text shows us through the scripture 00:23:34.579 --> 00:23:38.519 that Jesus did not throw that garment off and 00:23:38.519 --> 00:23:46.579 say, get that puke Herod's junk off of me. He 00:23:46.579 --> 00:23:50.759 didn't say that. He would wear that garment back 00:23:50.759 --> 00:23:55.980 into Pilate's presence. He would wear it. And 00:23:55.980 --> 00:23:59.019 Pilate would be receiving the message from King 00:23:59.019 --> 00:24:05.380 Herod that Jesus was no threat to Rome. It spoke 00:24:05.380 --> 00:24:08.519 to everyone in political power that would say 00:24:08.519 --> 00:24:12.740 this man is no king according to Roman standards. 00:24:13.559 --> 00:24:18.779 This man is a sham of a king. He's a pretender 00:24:18.779 --> 00:24:23.569 and a serious nobody. You see, by Jesus receiving 00:24:23.569 --> 00:24:28.130 the garments of the world and refusing to take 00:24:28.130 --> 00:24:34.630 it off, humility said, you can put on me whatever 00:24:34.630 --> 00:24:39.349 you want to put on me, but I know in whom I came 00:24:39.349 --> 00:24:45.589 from. I know who I am, but I will not be forced 00:24:45.589 --> 00:24:50.680 or coerced. to identify or partner with the world, 00:24:50.779 --> 00:24:54.400 its governments, its power, or its political 00:24:54.400 --> 00:25:00.200 efficacy for the sake of aligning with your agenda. 00:25:01.960 --> 00:25:06.359 The mocking nature of the world that would be 00:25:06.359 --> 00:25:10.480 placed on Jesus. And listen, hear me, an aligning 00:25:10.480 --> 00:25:16.009 with religion. It was one of the clearest. Parts 00:25:16.009 --> 00:25:19.430 of scripture that it was scribes, meaning what 00:25:19.430 --> 00:25:23.190 the lawyers of the law, the Pharisees, the religious 00:25:23.190 --> 00:25:26.789 of the law, working together with political power 00:25:26.789 --> 00:25:35.799 to derobe, to... deride to put down. And now 00:25:35.799 --> 00:25:40.440 in a final gesture of Herod who represented kingship 00:25:40.440 --> 00:25:43.339 and government of this world, throwing on Jesus 00:25:43.339 --> 00:25:47.440 a huge robe and sending him back to Pilate to 00:25:47.440 --> 00:25:54.640 be finally tried as a condemned man there. But 00:25:54.640 --> 00:25:59.200 I think about, and we're gonna receive communion 00:25:59.200 --> 00:26:02.089 now if the ushers would come. When I think about 00:26:02.089 --> 00:26:06.710 this and I think about getting ready to take 00:26:06.710 --> 00:26:13.890 this cup and take this bread in the few moments 00:26:13.890 --> 00:26:15.829 that lay ahead and maybe we'll deal with this 00:26:15.829 --> 00:26:19.369 another communion message but there would be 00:26:19.369 --> 00:26:23.230 two more times that the garments would be used 00:26:23.230 --> 00:26:27.910 in the crucifixion process between the scourging 00:26:28.380 --> 00:26:31.680 and the crucifixion, two more times, there would 00:26:31.680 --> 00:26:36.740 be a forced disrobing and a placing on and a 00:26:36.740 --> 00:26:43.440 placing off. The first time Jesus decides to 00:26:43.440 --> 00:26:46.960 remove his outer garments, he does it on the 00:26:46.960 --> 00:26:51.660 basis of voluntary love to remind us what our 00:26:51.660 --> 00:26:57.539 obligation to one another is and to the world. 00:26:58.700 --> 00:27:02.839 The second, the third and the fourth time that 00:27:02.839 --> 00:27:05.539 his robes are touched, that his garments are 00:27:05.539 --> 00:27:09.039 removed and that other garments placed on and 00:27:09.039 --> 00:27:13.059 off of him to cause pain and shame is a reminder 00:27:13.059 --> 00:27:17.660 that we better have fellowship here with Christ. 00:27:19.640 --> 00:27:23.519 Because where we're moving, I know we don't like 00:27:23.519 --> 00:27:26.119 to hear this, but where the church is moving 00:27:26.119 --> 00:27:31.460 in the ages, comes from the power of having fellowship 00:27:31.460 --> 00:27:35.859 with him as the world gets more hostile toward 00:27:35.859 --> 00:27:39.940 the Jesus that we serve. And he'll reach out 00:27:39.940 --> 00:27:44.539 and they'll try to throw garments on you or they'll 00:27:44.539 --> 00:27:48.220 try to take garments from you. That's the nature 00:27:48.220 --> 00:27:51.799 of what the world does. The key is the garment 00:27:51.799 --> 00:27:55.240 that you get to carry and wrap around ourselves 00:27:55.240 --> 00:27:59.670 is the garment that Jesus girded himself with, 00:27:59.769 --> 00:28:04.289 the towel and the cloak of humility. Would you 00:28:04.289 --> 00:28:08.430 stand with me this morning and let's pray.
