So today, as 00:01:40.549 --> 00:01:44.269 we close the book of Jude, we will be looking 00:01:44.269 --> 00:01:48.969 at verses 24 and 25. In 24 and 25 of the book 00:01:48.969 --> 00:01:52.129 of Jude, a lot of people come to the end of this 00:01:52.129 --> 00:01:55.930 book and they think that it is a benediction. 00:01:56.760 --> 00:01:59.280 But you get to the end of this book and Jude 00:01:59.280 --> 00:02:04.079 actually closes this little epistle of 25 verses 00:02:04.079 --> 00:02:11.199 with a doxology. And a doxology is basically, 00:02:11.259 --> 00:02:18.580 it is recognizing and giving God a blessing and 00:02:18.580 --> 00:02:22.800 giving Him praise and adoration. It is worshiping 00:02:22.800 --> 00:02:28.460 Him. A benediction is God blessing people or 00:02:28.460 --> 00:02:32.460 pronouncing a blessing upon his people. So doxology 00:02:32.460 --> 00:02:37.159 is proclaiming a blessing or worship or praise 00:02:37.159 --> 00:02:41.199 or adoration to God. So we get to the end of 00:02:41.199 --> 00:02:44.740 this book and Jude closes it with the doxology 00:02:44.740 --> 00:02:48.900 wanting us to think of worship, wanting us to 00:02:48.900 --> 00:02:52.939 think of adoration of our great God. Wanting 00:02:52.939 --> 00:02:56.719 us to think of praising and worshiping this great 00:02:56.719 --> 00:03:01.680 God whom we serve and who has saved us. Now, 00:03:01.719 --> 00:03:04.879 it's interesting. You look at the book of Jude 00:03:04.879 --> 00:03:08.780 and you think, why does he close with a doxology? 00:03:09.300 --> 00:03:13.800 Why does he close wanting us to think about worship? 00:03:14.990 --> 00:03:17.349 Well, when we look at the book of Jude, we've 00:03:17.349 --> 00:03:20.189 had some pretty stiff, some pretty heavy, some 00:03:20.189 --> 00:03:24.090 pretty weighty stuff that we've had to deal with. 00:03:24.469 --> 00:03:28.550 There's been judgment. There's been condemnation. 00:03:28.810 --> 00:03:33.469 There has been deniers of the gospel. There's 00:03:33.469 --> 00:03:37.530 been twisters of grace. And whenever this epistle 00:03:37.530 --> 00:03:40.430 was sent, it would have been read in one sitting. 00:03:40.939 --> 00:03:43.639 So they would have read the church out loud in 00:03:43.639 --> 00:03:46.340 one sitting and it takes about four minutes to 00:03:46.340 --> 00:03:48.020 read through the book of Jude. So when you read 00:03:48.020 --> 00:03:50.379 through the book of Jude in about four to five 00:03:50.379 --> 00:03:53.900 minutes and you get all the weighty and all the 00:03:53.900 --> 00:03:56.080 heavy stuff and all the judgment and all the 00:03:56.080 --> 00:03:59.759 hard stuff and all the challenge to fight and 00:03:59.759 --> 00:04:03.159 to contend, he brings it at the end and he says, 00:04:03.219 --> 00:04:07.240 don't forget about worshiping your God. Don't 00:04:07.240 --> 00:04:13.110 forget. To worship God. So this doxology is for 00:04:13.110 --> 00:04:18.129 the purpose of encouraging us as God's people 00:04:18.129 --> 00:04:25.889 to worship and adore and praise God who is able 00:04:25.889 --> 00:04:31.129 in the midst of any circumstances. Who is able 00:04:31.129 --> 00:04:35.269 regardless of what is taking place around us. 00:04:35.930 --> 00:04:39.250 So he's saying church, this is Jude saying church, 00:04:39.529 --> 00:04:43.069 regardless of the false teachers, regardless 00:04:43.069 --> 00:04:47.470 of the division or the flattery or the manipulation, 00:04:47.649 --> 00:04:50.529 regardless of the false religion that's taking 00:04:50.529 --> 00:04:54.689 place in your church, don't forget God is able 00:04:54.689 --> 00:04:59.519 and worship this great God. So in thinking of 00:04:59.519 --> 00:05:02.240 adoration, that's what I'm going to refer to 00:05:02.240 --> 00:05:06.000 today primarily. And I'm talking about adoration, 00:05:06.079 --> 00:05:08.160 I'm talking about worship, I'm talking about 00:05:08.160 --> 00:05:13.120 glorifying God by giving Him honor and praise. 00:05:13.720 --> 00:05:16.720 So that's primarily what we'll be discussing 00:05:16.720 --> 00:05:21.199 today, adoration of God. Now when we think of 00:05:21.199 --> 00:05:24.680 adoring God or worshiping God, there are several 00:05:24.680 --> 00:05:28.480 things in our lives. that cause us to worship 00:05:28.480 --> 00:05:31.139 God, aren't there? I mean, think about your own 00:05:31.139 --> 00:05:34.319 life. Think about the things that take place 00:05:34.319 --> 00:05:38.620 in your own life. What causes you or what brings 00:05:38.620 --> 00:05:41.779 about, what incites worship within your soul, 00:05:41.920 --> 00:05:46.839 within your heart, to say, Lord, thank you. I 00:05:46.839 --> 00:05:51.240 praise your holy name. Lord, you are so good. 00:05:52.459 --> 00:05:55.379 You are worthy of all praise and honor. You know, 00:05:55.399 --> 00:06:00.019 just for me, many times I do this when I'm sitting 00:06:00.019 --> 00:06:03.420 back either reading or studying or doing something 00:06:03.420 --> 00:06:07.019 else and I'm watching my kids play. And I watch 00:06:07.019 --> 00:06:11.000 them play and they're getting along. And they're 00:06:11.000 --> 00:06:14.000 having fun and they're enjoying themselves. But 00:06:14.000 --> 00:06:17.899 no, they're loving. They're loving creation. 00:06:18.459 --> 00:06:23.899 They're enjoying themselves. When I sit back 00:06:23.899 --> 00:06:26.579 and I watch that and I think, Lord, You are so 00:06:26.579 --> 00:06:32.180 good. You are so kind. There's 00:07:01.910 --> 00:07:04.350 so many things in our life that bring about worship. 00:07:04.589 --> 00:07:08.889 But Jude gives us two things. He gives us two 00:07:08.889 --> 00:07:15.430 causes for adoration in our lives. Two causes 00:07:15.430 --> 00:07:21.970 for adoration in our lives. We worship a God who is not 00:07:47.259 --> 00:07:51.199 impotent. We worship a God who is not restricted, 00:07:51.660 --> 00:07:57.300 who is not limited. We worship a God who is not 00:07:57.300 --> 00:08:03.689 bound. We worship a God who is almighty, powerful, 00:08:04.129 --> 00:08:07.850 creator God that when he speaks, worlds come 00:08:07.850 --> 00:08:12.670 into existence. That's the God who we worship. 00:08:13.750 --> 00:08:18.649 The God who is so powerful that the seas that 00:08:18.649 --> 00:08:21.750 would crush you and me, if we got underneath 00:08:21.750 --> 00:08:26.550 the wave, he spoke into existence. He is able 00:09:13.870 --> 00:09:19.450 to keep you from stumbling. To keep you from 00:09:19.450 --> 00:09:23.600 stumbling. The idea is this. He is able to keep 00:09:23.600 --> 00:09:29.059 you from being tripped or tripping. Think of 00:09:29.059 --> 00:09:33.139 a horse riding down a trail, and he's riding, 00:09:33.220 --> 00:09:36.240 they're going down a steep hill, and there's 00:09:36.240 --> 00:09:39.299 rocks, and he stumbles, or he fumbles, or he 00:09:39.299 --> 00:09:41.919 trips. And that stumble, that fumble, or that 00:09:41.919 --> 00:09:44.720 trip for that horse causes the horse and the 00:09:44.720 --> 00:09:49.059 rider to go fumbling down the hill. So that's 00:09:49.059 --> 00:09:52.830 the idea, that's the picture that he has. It's 00:09:52.830 --> 00:09:59.789 the idea of keeping us from sin, keeping us from 00:09:59.789 --> 00:10:05.049 error, keeping us from falling away from the 00:10:05.049 --> 00:10:08.610 faith. We see that taking place in the New Testament. 00:10:08.789 --> 00:10:13.149 People falling away from the faith. He's able 00:10:13.149 --> 00:10:16.350 to keep us from that. But it also implies this 00:10:16.350 --> 00:10:21.350 idea that God is going to keep us until the end. 00:10:22.289 --> 00:10:25.629 He is going to bring us through this life. If 00:10:25.629 --> 00:10:30.470 you are born again believing Christian, God will 00:10:30.470 --> 00:10:34.570 keep you. How did he open this epistle? He said 00:10:34.570 --> 00:10:40.730 to those who are the called, those who are beloved 00:10:40.730 --> 00:10:46.830 in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ. 00:10:48.139 --> 00:10:54.240 So God will keep his people. He is able to keep 00:10:54.240 --> 00:10:58.100 you. So keep those four things in mind. He can 00:10:58.100 --> 00:11:01.059 keep you from sin. He can keep you from error. 00:11:01.299 --> 00:11:04.100 He can keep you from falling away. And he can 00:11:04.100 --> 00:11:08.480 keep you until the end. Think 00:11:14.539 --> 00:11:19.440 about the Christians in this epistle that Jude 00:11:19.440 --> 00:11:22.159 is writing to. What's taking place around them? 00:11:22.620 --> 00:11:25.639 What's going on? What are they being impacted 00:11:25.639 --> 00:11:29.580 by? What's influencing them? He is telling them, 00:11:29.620 --> 00:11:32.360 God is able to keep you from stumbling. What 00:11:32.360 --> 00:11:36.080 did we look at last week in Jude? What did we 00:11:36.080 --> 00:11:38.080 look at last week in Jude? We looked at the fact 00:11:38.080 --> 00:11:42.480 that people doubt. We looked at the fact that 00:11:42.480 --> 00:11:44.860 some people are in the fire and they're about 00:11:44.860 --> 00:11:47.759 to bring destruction into their lives and they 00:11:47.759 --> 00:11:51.159 have to be snatched out. We looked at the reality 00:11:51.159 --> 00:11:54.299 that there are some people so far in sin that 00:11:54.299 --> 00:11:58.799 they are dangerous to other believers. So those 00:11:58.799 --> 00:12:02.379 are taking place, not to mention... The fact 00:12:02.379 --> 00:12:04.460 that there's people there who are hidden reefs 00:12:04.460 --> 00:12:08.320 in their love feasts. I mean, this even talks 00:12:08.320 --> 00:12:11.200 about the reality that there were angels who 00:12:11.200 --> 00:12:15.139 rebelled. There were angels who fell away. It 00:12:15.139 --> 00:12:17.360 talks about how there's division. There's people 00:12:17.360 --> 00:12:22.080 that are manipulating and flattering. So it is 00:12:22.080 --> 00:12:25.049 important for... the people of this church, and 00:12:25.049 --> 00:12:29.330 us as a church to understand and to grasp that 00:12:29.330 --> 00:12:35.610 God is able to keep you from falling into false 00:12:35.610 --> 00:12:41.009 religion.
