I believe we're going into some seasons now where God is going to disrupt some of our lives. 24 00:01:46.000 --> 00:01:51.000 When you pray for revival, it literally changes everything. Are you hearing me? 36 00:02:33.000 --> 00:02:36.000 I wouldn't want to be a blind 37 00:02:36.000 --> 00:02:40.000 person who gets healed for a day, and then I can't see again. 38 00:02:40.000 --> 00:02:44.000 If I get healed, delivered, touched, adjusted 39 00:02:44.000 --> 00:02:47.000 I want that adjustment to last through my life, 40 00:02:47.000 --> 00:02:51.000 that I do something with what God's given me. 41 00:02:51.000 --> 00:02:56.000 And I'm aware that God is wanting to do a lot of stuff with us that we just got to be open to. 42 00:02:56.000 --> 00:03:02.000 Last week I spoke on this immoral woman at Simon the Pharisee's house and 43 00:03:02.000 --> 00:03:08.000 how Jesus uses an illustration to her of saying someone's forgiven of 500, a debt of 500 pieces of silver, another of 50. 44 00:03:08.000 --> 00:03:15.000 When you have 500 pieces of silver's worth of forgiveness that you have received, it's so much easier to give 50 to 45 00:03:15.000 --> 00:03:17.000 to somebody else. 46 00:03:17.000 --> 00:03:23.000 To the degree it's been revealed to you that you are forgiven is a degree to which you can forgive. 47 00:03:23.000 --> 00:03:30.000 And I said last night that you need to really, last Sunday, you need to walk into a personally received forgiven life. 48 00:03:30.000 --> 00:03:36.000 The Lord has forgiven, but sometimes we have to receive in our very beings that we are forgiven. 49 00:03:36.000 --> 00:03:42.000 Because when I'm forgiven, the enemy can no longer accuse me because I'm forgiven. 50 00:03:42.000 --> 00:03:48.000 And John, that beautiful disciple of Jesus, he says in 1 John, chapter 2, there's a progression of faith, 51 00:03:48.000 --> 00:03:52.000 there's a progression of maturity in 1 John, chapter 2. 52 00:03:52.000 --> 00:03:59.000 And he says, a little child in the faith is one who knows that his sins are forgiven and that he has a father in heaven. 53 00:03:59.000 --> 00:04:02.000 That's the beginning of the Christian walk. 54 00:04:02.000 --> 00:04:07.000 You haven't even begun to be a young man or a father in the faith yet. 55 00:04:07.000 --> 00:04:14.000 And I'll tell you, the enemy comes to rob and steal and kill and destroy and accuse, and this world is full of it. 56 00:04:14.000 --> 00:04:20.000 There is international uncertainty right now, but there is a rock that was hewn in the book of Daniel, 57 00:04:20.000 --> 00:04:24.000 and that rock is going to pull down the nations of this world. 58 00:04:24.000 --> 00:04:30.000 And there is a secret, hidden kingdom we are preaching about the kingdom of God that comes to invade people's lives. 59 00:04:30.000 --> 00:04:35.000 And the first thing God does is he has to let you know you are forgiven. 60 00:04:35.000 --> 00:04:41.000 And when you're forgiven and the shackles come off and you are free, you need to live free and act free. 61 00:04:41.000 --> 00:04:44.000 My precious wife does animal rescue. 62 00:04:44.000 --> 00:04:48.000 I did not know too much of that before we got married. 63 00:04:48.000 --> 00:04:50.000 She does animal rescue. 64 00:04:50.000 --> 00:04:56.000 And you know what happens when you rescue an animal that comes from another environment? 65 00:04:56.000 --> 00:05:02.000 Even though it's free and it's no longer in its environment, it still cowers when you walk near it. 66 00:05:02.000 --> 00:05:08.000 For at least we've got a dog now. I have come to do your will, O Lord. 83 00:06:21.000 --> 00:06:25.000 You can pray with accuracy. My Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done. 88 00:06:48.000 --> 00:06:56.000 I'm telling you today that Jesus defeated the enemy on the cross. And right now, the battle he fights is to get his own people to do his will. 89 00:06:56.000 --> 00:07:08.000 He's not fighting the enemy anymore so much as he's fighting us to do his will. And he gives us an illustration of a story I'm going to read in a moment in Matthew, chapter 21, 90 00:07:08.000 --> 00:07:17.000 if you want to turn there. Matthew, chapter 21, or just follow behind me. Verse 28. Do you remember what happened just before that? Before chapter, verse 28. 91 00:07:17.000 --> 00:07:31.000 It's where the Pharisees went to Jesus and said, who gives you the authority? By what authority are you doing what you're doing? And Jesus said, well, let me ask you a question first. 92 00:07:31.000 --> 00:07:40.000 John's baptism, did it come from God or is it human? Because if they said it's from God, everyone repented except them. So they're irrelevant. 93 00:07:40.000 --> 00:07:53.000 If it's from man. Then why did anyone have to be baptized? So they were stuck. They didn't know how to answer. And Jesus carries on from there. Verse 28. 94 00:07:53.000 --> 00:08:02.000 But what do you think about this? A man with two sons told the older boy, son, go out and work in the vineyard today. 95 00:08:02.000 --> 00:08:11.000 The son answered, no, I won't go. But later he changed his mind and went anyway. Then the father told the other son, you go. 96 00:08:11.000 --> 00:08:18.000 And he said, yes sir, I will. But he didn't go. Which of the two obeyed his father? They replied the first. 97 00:08:18.000 --> 00:08:27.000 Then Jesus explained his meaning. I tell you the truth. Corrupt tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you do. 98 00:08:27.000 --> 00:08:38.000 For John the Baptist came and showed you the right way to live, but you didn't believe him. Well, tax collectors and prostitutes did. 99 00:08:38.000 --> 00:08:47.000 And even when you saw this happening, you refused to believe in him and repent of your sins. Now Jesus is having a go at the Pharisees, 100 00:08:47.000 --> 00:08:57.000 who we read in the earlier passage were sitting in the seat of Mount Moses. The seat of Moses was the seat of prophecy. Moses was a great prophet, A great prophet. 101 00:08:57.000 --> 00:09:06.000 And Moses had sat in a seat of authority under God. He had received word from God. He delivered the word of God to the people of God. 102 00:09:06.000 --> 00:09:15.000 And he had led the people of God according to what he had received. So this guy did it, said it and lived it. And now we've got Pharisees who are doing none of that. 103 00:09:15.000 --> 00:09:21.000 And they've taken a lot of the laws of God and they've changed them around and they've messed things around. 104 00:09:21.000 --> 00:09:27.000 And now Jesus comes and he says, I want you to understand that from the very beginning, 105 00:09:27.000 --> 00:09:37.000 God's intention for you, the Jewish people, the intention of God for you from the book of Isaiah, was that the Gentiles would see the light through you. The Gentiles would be saved through you, through your ministry. 106 00:09:37.000 --> 00:09:44.000 You are a kingdom of priests. From the book of Exodus, the world is meant to know who God is through your lives. 107 00:09:44.000 --> 00:09:49.000 But you have retreated into a group of rule keeping hypocrites. 108 00:09:49.000 --> 00:09:59.000 And then he points out that there are these two boys, these two young men, and the first, an older brother, is one who is in rebellion to the will of God. 109 00:09:59.000 --> 00:10:03.000 But later on he repents and does 110 00:10:03.000 --> 00:10:05.000 the will of God. 111 00:10:05.000 --> 00:10:16.000 And we know from the story it's the unqualified, it's the prostitutes and the tax collectors. People like Matthew, who was a tax collector, gets saved, becomes an apostle and goes and preaches into the world. 112 00:10:16.000 --> 00:10:26.000 And Jesus is saying that in these days there will be many older sons who are going to hear the gospel. They're going to take their lives. That didn't count for much. 113 00:10:26.000 --> 00:10:31.000 And they're going to surrender their wills to God and say, okay, Lord, whatever you want. That's what I want. 114 00:10:31.000 --> 00:10:34.000 That's what Jesus is trying to say. 115 00:10:34.000 --> 00:10:40.000 Then there's another son who has a reluctance to do the will of God, proven by the false start. 116 00:10:40.000 --> 00:10:48.000 That younger son says, yes, sir. And that word sir, by the way, is the name Lord. And it's a differential term. 117 00:10:48.000 --> 00:10:53.000 These are the ones who give honour to God with their lips, but not with their lives. 118 00:10:53.000 --> 00:11:01.000 And these are people who stand up and say, yes, I'll do it. I'll do whatever God says. Then they go and they never do it. 119 00:11:01.000 --> 00:11:11.000 And he says, who enters the kingdom? Who tastes the power and the authority of the kingdom of God? It is those who repent and enter, not those who say and don't. 120 00:11:11.000 --> 00:11:20.000 And I want you to see something this morning. The father wants to put both boys to work in the vineyard. God wants fruitfulness from every single person who responds to the gospel. 121 00:11:20.000 --> 00:11:25.000 Can I say that again? God wants fruitfulness from every single person who responds to the gospel. 122 00:11:25.000 --> 00:11:35.000 Now, I want to tell you that puts a pressure on every single local church because almost every single local church allows people to come in and be entertained Robbie Williams style. 123 00:11:35.000 --> 00:11:43.000 Great worship, great preach, great coffee, great environment. And you leave here feeling like you've been served. 124 00:11:43.000 --> 00:11:47.000 And I want to remind you, you are actually here to be put to work. 125 00:11:47.000 --> 00:11:57.000 God takes a person and joins a person to a local church based on what God wants to do in the community through that person, as they're equipped by the church they go to. That's why they're put there. 126 00:11:57.000 --> 00:12:06.000 The Bible says that you are a purchased possession. When you're born again, God buys you with the blood of his son and you no longer belong to yourself. 127 00:12:06.000 --> 00:12:12.000 But we have churches everywhere around the world who struggle to get their people to do anything. 128 00:12:12.000 --> 00:12:17.000 And when God wants to revive a place, he gets his people back to work. 129 00:12:17.000 --> 00:12:25.000 Any of you ever played sport? A great analogy of rugby is if you go to ellis park with 60,000 people, they say church is like a rugby game. 130 00:12:25.000 --> 00:12:31.000 You got 30 people on a field desperately in need of a rest, being cheered on by 60,000 people desperately in need of exercise. 131 00:12:31.000 --> 00:12:36.000 And you know what happens when you're not playing on the field? Everyone who's not playing are spectators. 132 00:12:36.000 --> 00:12:41.000 And if you've ever watched a sports game, how long is it before the spectators become commentators? 133 00:12:41.000 --> 00:12:51.000 I don't know. He dropped the ball, that idiot. Why is he playing for the Springboks? Oh, wait, why aren't you? You're not even qualified to go to the fridge to get your next Coke. 134 00:12:51.000 --> 00:12:56.000 And if you're not a player, you're a spectator. And if you're a spectator, you're a commentator. 135 00:12:56.000 --> 00:13:04.000 And you know what happened? Because the Pharisees, the teachers of the law and the scribes were no longer playing the game. They became commentators. 136 00:13:04.000 --> 00:13:09.000 And commentators tell everyone what to do while they don't get on with the job. 137 00:13:09.000 --> 00:13:12.000 And I want to tell you, our churches are full of it. 138 00:13:12.000 --> 00:13:20.000 I'm going to make two disclaimers right now. Number one, I believe worship was God centered this morning. I believe the spirit of God moved on us. The anointing was tangible and palpable. 139 00:13:20.000 --> 00:13:24.000 But can I just say, it wasn't for you, it was for him. 140 00:13:24.000 --> 00:13:28.000 And some of you might leave today. He gets it today. He wants your heart. The older brother says, no, I'm not going to do this Christian thing, not for me. 150 00:14:20.000 --> 00:14:27.000 And then a moment comes where God grabs their hearts and God grabs their lives. 151 00:14:27.000 --> 00:14:32.000 And so many of you today have that kind of testimony. You are out there in wild, reckless living and God got a hold of you. 152 00:14:32.000 --> 00:14:40.000 Now all you want to do is you'll run through walls for Jesus. And I celebrate you. And I celebrate who you are and what you're doing. 153 00:14:40.000 --> 00:14:46.000 But there's another category of those who have said I will do it and who don't. 154 00:14:46.000 --> 00:14:55.000 A heart of indifference and even rebellion may exist beneath the appearance of, of a nice religious person. 155 00:14:55.000 --> 00:15:00.000 They look and smell just like the stand up example of a good Christian. 156 00:15:00.000 --> 00:15:09.000 They're poster boys, they're poster girls for the faith, but they really are self seeking, critical, bitter and unforgiving. On the inside, 157 00:15:09.000 --> 00:15:13.000 everything must happen on their preferred terms. 158 00:15:13.000 --> 00:15:19.000 You see the prostitute and the tax collector, they know full and well what it's like to live without God in their lives. 159 00:15:19.000 --> 00:15:25.000 They've known the pain and the hurt and the loneliness and the fear and the desperation of trying to make life on your own. 160 00:15:25.000 --> 00:15:32.000 And they know what it's like when in an undeserving way, a righteous, beautiful and holy God reached in and saved them 161 00:15:32.000 --> 00:15:38.000 and showed them life eternal and forgave all their sins and washed them whiter than snow. 162 00:15:38.000 --> 00:15:44.000 That they know how to celebrate. And they want to go tell people about Jesus. 163 00:15:44.000 --> 00:15:50.000 Then there are others who have never received this forgiveness because they didn't think they needed it. 164 00:15:50.000 --> 00:15:55.000 Called by God, not used of God, by the state of their own hearts. 165 00:15:55.000 --> 00:15:58.000 They don't see themselves as lost. 166 00:15:58.000 --> 00:16:03.000 And you know, when you don't see yourselves as lost, you can't be found because you think you already are. 167 00:16:03.000 --> 00:16:11.000 Actions speak louder than words. And true obedience to God comes from genuine repentance and changed behavior, not just 168 00:16:11.000 --> 00:16:15.000 from outward compliance or empty promises. 169 00:16:15.000 --> 00:16:20.000 I felt the Lord say to me today that there will be many people, even in this room right now, 170 00:16:20.000 --> 00:16:26.000 those watching, who are sitting on a command, an instruction or a demand that God has previously given you 171 00:16:26.000 --> 00:16:30.000 and today he wants to remind you of that. Has he spoken? Has he whispered? 172 00:16:30.000 --> 00:16:36.000 Has he called you to things you've just neglected in the busyness of the day? 173 00:16:36.000 --> 00:16:40.000 He's called you to do something, you haven't done it. 174 00:16:40.000 --> 00:16:46.000 But now is your season to say, okay, actually, I am going to go. I'm going to be that older brother. 175 00:16:46.000 --> 00:16:50.000 The Bible says, to whom much is given, much will be required. 176 00:16:50.000 --> 00:16:58.000 God will call you to something and he will not let you off the hook of what he's called you to. 177 00:16:58.000 --> 00:17:06.000 And if God's called you to do this, you can go and do that with all your heart for Him. He will still bring you back to this. 178 00:17:06.000 --> 00:17:11.000 Because often what we do is say, lord, you've called me to something. I choose not to do that. 179 00:17:11.000 --> 00:17:20.000 I'm going to go and do this, but I'll do it with all my heart. And I'm trying to buy your favor again by doing what I wanted to do, but doing it for you. 180 00:17:20.000 --> 00:17:25.000 And on that day, remember some of the Lord, I did this for you. I did that for you. I did this for you. 181 00:17:25.000 --> 00:17:30.000 I didn't know you. He says, that's not what I asked you to do. Have I done this? Have I given that? Even in worship this morning, even now, he's reminding you you said yes once upon a time, but you haven't done it. 190 00:18:18.000 --> 00:18:23.000 And now he's calling you back to serve him in areas where he wants you. 191 00:18:23.000 --> 00:18:28.000 James chapter four and verse five says, do you think Scripture has no meaning? 192 00:18:28.000 --> 00:18:37.000 They say that God is passionate. The scriptures say that God is passionate, that the Spirit he has placed within us should be faithful to him. 193 00:18:37.000 --> 00:18:43.000 God has put a willing and obedient spirit inside you and he demands that that spirit be faithful to Him. 194 00:18:43.000 --> 00:18:48.000 In our elder's prayer earlier, a sense came out that sometimes we love the Holy Spirit so much. 195 00:18:48.000 --> 00:18:57.000 We love his leading, we love how he ministers. We love the flow of the Spirit. You got to admit, when the Spirit comes, it's something, eh? 196 00:18:57.000 --> 00:19:04.000 I know when I pray for people I get like electric shocks through me. Just this presence of God. 197 00:19:04.000 --> 00:19:11.000 I love the way the Holy Spirit leads and his power and his glory.
