I mean, there's kooky, kooky, wacky, 00:02:39.439 --> 00:02:43.060 weird stuff when it comes to, and there's people 00:02:43.060 --> 00:02:46.280 that use it for manipulation. Michael Pocock, in his writings, 00:03:21.039 --> 00:03:26.800 has a continuum, and he talks about demonic influence 00:03:26.800 --> 00:03:30.780 can be over here, all the way over here, but 00:03:30.780 --> 00:03:33.580 he talks about it begins with oppression, then 00:03:33.580 --> 00:03:36.360 it can move to harassment, then to obsession, 00:03:36.719 --> 00:03:40.360 then to compulsion, and then the appearance of 00:03:40.360 --> 00:03:44.719 possession, just total control. of at least unbelievers. 00:03:45.340 --> 00:03:47.479 Fear and ignorance have caused many people to 00:03:47.479 --> 00:03:50.800 simply ignore. This can't be. I told 00:05:10.959 --> 00:05:12.899 you a little early about, you know, I had some 00:05:12.899 --> 00:05:15.300 notes that didn't come out quite right. And my 00:05:15.300 --> 00:05:17.480 first thought was, man, the enemy's messing things 00:05:17.480 --> 00:05:20.000 up. My next thought was, and you didn't review 00:05:20.000 --> 00:05:25.620 the notes. You know, and guess what? I'm thinking 00:05:25.620 --> 00:05:29.860 both are true. You know, I'm thinking, you know, 00:05:29.860 --> 00:05:33.379 human error and trying to mess people up and 00:05:33.379 --> 00:05:36.740 get them frustrated, of course. So here's what 00:05:36.740 --> 00:05:39.310 you should be getting. This is a valid ministry 00:05:39.310 --> 00:05:41.389 from Jesus all the way through the early lives 00:05:41.389 --> 00:05:43.829 of the church. You should know there's some very 00:05:43.829 --> 00:05:47.189 clear problems that make many people suspect 00:05:47.189 --> 00:05:50.610 of it for very good reasons. Third, here's some 00:05:50.610 --> 00:05:53.750 causes of demonic influence. In other words, 00:05:53.769 --> 00:05:57.730 if you start with oppression, harassment, obsession, 00:05:58.170 --> 00:06:01.990 compulsion, In other words, these are some of 00:06:01.990 --> 00:06:05.089 the ways that people knowingly or unknowingly 00:06:05.089 --> 00:06:08.649 get involved in demonic influence. One is yielding 00:06:08.649 --> 00:06:12.509 to sin. John 8, 34 says, is that when you commit 00:06:12.509 --> 00:06:15.850 a sin, you become a slave to it. If you ever 00:06:15.850 --> 00:06:20.569 work in, you know, like downtown, you know, city 00:06:20.569 --> 00:06:24.670 team. rehab type places, inner city, homeless 00:06:24.670 --> 00:06:28.069 people, drug addictions, sex addictions. There 00:06:28.069 --> 00:06:31.790 is an amazing connection between demonic influence 00:06:31.790 --> 00:06:34.730 and people that have addictions. Am I saying 00:06:34.730 --> 00:06:36.550 that every addiction is a demonic influence? 00:06:36.750 --> 00:06:39.689 No. What I'm saying is once people surrender 00:06:39.689 --> 00:06:42.569 themselves and find themselves in addictions 00:06:42.569 --> 00:06:47.269 and perversion, the enemy, the strongholds, they 00:06:47.269 --> 00:06:51.089 become slaves because the MO is accomplished. 00:06:51.639 --> 00:06:56.600 What is Satan's goal? To kill, to steal, and 00:06:56.600 --> 00:07:00.240 destroy. When you find people who make decisions, 00:07:00.379 --> 00:07:03.959 and we can kill ourselves with food, we can kill 00:07:03.959 --> 00:07:06.620 ourselves with media, right? It's not just drugs 00:07:06.620 --> 00:07:11.079 and alcoholics and cocaine addicts. See, as long 00:07:11.079 --> 00:07:13.339 as we can keep thinking like that, these are 00:07:13.339 --> 00:07:17.160 issues for those people out there. What if we 00:07:17.160 --> 00:07:20.620 have some strongholds? What if workaholism? I 00:07:20.620 --> 00:07:22.120 couldn't think of anybody that's ever had that 00:07:22.120 --> 00:07:26.579 problem. Or people pleasing or codependency. 00:07:26.800 --> 00:07:29.000 What if there's something inside of you that 00:07:29.000 --> 00:07:31.199 because of your family of origin, you got to 00:07:31.199 --> 00:07:33.819 please people all the time. So you get overextended 00:07:33.819 --> 00:07:35.939 and it's ruining your health and it's ruining 00:07:35.939 --> 00:07:38.360 relationships. And no matter how hard you try, 00:07:38.459 --> 00:07:41.459 could it be that you're believing a lie? And 00:07:41.459 --> 00:07:43.019 could it be when you try to break out of that, 00:07:43.120 --> 00:07:45.459 you get opposition and maybe even harassment. 00:07:47.100 --> 00:07:51.329 And maybe there's a reason why. I mean, when, and this is why in parenting, 00:08:04.889 --> 00:08:08.610 I'm, you know, kids make mistakes and they can 00:08:08.610 --> 00:08:10.949 fail and they have good attitudes and bad attitudes, 00:08:11.149 --> 00:08:16.850 but when they actively defiantly rebel as a parent, 00:08:17.009 --> 00:08:19.790 you need to understand, boy, that is not something 00:08:19.790 --> 00:08:23.029 you ever allow. Rebellion, according to Scripture, 00:08:29.709 --> 00:08:32.990 is like the sin of divination. And when we rebel 00:08:32.990 --> 00:08:36.309 against God, when you know, when God speaks to 00:08:36.309 --> 00:08:39.889 you, can I mess with you just for a minute? Because 00:08:39.889 --> 00:08:43.679 we have an epidemic in the church. Can I give 00:08:43.679 --> 00:08:46.899 you maybe the top two or three sins that really 00:08:46.899 --> 00:08:49.600 good Christian people live with and we gloss 00:08:49.600 --> 00:08:53.480 over and I think hinders our spiritual life dramatically. 00:08:54.139 --> 00:08:58.639 Number one is unforgiveness. We just, I mean, 00:08:58.720 --> 00:09:03.059 I'll never talk to her again. Now, and you know, 00:09:03.139 --> 00:09:08.240 I forgive him, but... I'm being passive aggressive 00:09:08.240 --> 00:09:10.940 in what comes out of my mouth. I talk about them. 00:09:11.059 --> 00:09:14.059 I have anger fantasy in my mind. They don't deserve 00:09:14.059 --> 00:09:22.220 it. Second one is our money. And I'm not talking 00:09:22.220 --> 00:09:24.919 about some legalistic, are you tithing or not? 00:09:25.019 --> 00:09:30.240 That is a beginning point. If God does not have 00:09:30.240 --> 00:09:33.419 my money, I don't care how you feel, how high 00:09:33.419 --> 00:09:36.299 your hands go up, how deep emotions, and how 00:09:36.299 --> 00:09:38.820 much you even read the Bible. According to Jesus, 00:09:39.019 --> 00:09:41.340 if he does not have your money, he does not have 00:09:41.340 --> 00:09:43.580 your heart. If he does not have your heart, he 00:09:43.580 --> 00:09:47.019 is not your Lord. If he is not your Lord, you 00:09:47.019 --> 00:09:49.480 are not having the kind of life he wants for 00:09:49.480 --> 00:09:52.379 you and he's not using you. But the key behind 00:09:52.379 --> 00:09:54.840 why you don't give him your money, are you ready, 00:09:54.879 --> 00:09:57.080 is you don't trust him. And you don't trust him 00:09:57.080 --> 00:09:58.759 because you don't think he's good and you don't 00:09:58.759 --> 00:10:00.279 think he's powerful and you don't think he's 00:10:00.279 --> 00:10:02.600 sovereign. This is a very specific 00:28:51.210 --> 00:28:56.170 situation, and there are times. where you really 00:28:56.170 --> 00:28:58.910 do need an expert. And sometimes when I explain 00:28:58.910 --> 00:29:01.910 this, I've had many, many calls from people who 00:29:01.910 --> 00:29:04.069 say, would you come and we have this situation, 00:29:04.329 --> 00:29:06.730 or will you come and teach this because this 00:29:06.730 --> 00:29:09.329 is what's going on? And by and large, my answer 00:29:09.329 --> 00:29:14.849 is always no. I mean, I kind of think I told 00:29:14.849 --> 00:29:17.650 you before, I feel like if instead of a pastor, 00:29:17.710 --> 00:29:21.069 I'm a doctor, I'm a general practitioner. I'm 00:29:21.069 --> 00:29:24.359 not an oncologist. I'm not a baby doctor. I'm 00:29:24.359 --> 00:29:27.200 not a surgeon. I'm not a cardiologist. There 00:29:27.200 --> 00:29:29.500 are experts in this.
