He there is no 00:01:42.170 --> 00:01:45.209 person on the planet that he does not want relationship 00:01:45.209 --> 00:01:49.370 with. He wants relationship with you today. That 00:01:49.370 --> 00:01:52.310 grace comes out of the outflow of his love. What 00:01:52.310 --> 00:01:56.939 do you mean? Love is grace. It's mercy. It's 00:01:56.939 --> 00:01:59.540 kindness, it's gentleness, it's long -suffering, 00:01:59.640 --> 00:02:02.239 it's all the things the Bible tells us love is, 00:02:02.319 --> 00:02:06.280 but grace, grace is something he gives. You know, when a child 00:02:12.280 --> 00:02:15.800 is born in the earth, the parents look at that 00:02:15.800 --> 00:02:18.520 child and there's nothing but love. Why? But 00:03:09.780 --> 00:03:12.419 we have to want it. We have to say, yes, Lord. 00:03:12.919 --> 00:03:16.240 And so we're going to start. We're going to start 00:03:16.240 --> 00:03:18.719 in second Kings and we're going to go to chapter 00:03:18.719 --> 00:03:22.280 six. We're going to tell us a short story. about 00:03:22.280 --> 00:03:25.900 God's grace. And it starts out in verse one, 00:03:26.020 --> 00:03:28.800 it says, one day a group of the prophets came 00:03:28.800 --> 00:03:31.360 to Elijah and told him, as you see, this place 00:03:31.360 --> 00:03:33.919 where we meet you is too small. Let us go down 00:03:33.919 --> 00:03:36.020 to the Jordan River, where there are plenty of 00:03:36.020 --> 00:03:38.879 logs. There we can build a new place for us to 00:03:38.879 --> 00:03:41.740 meet. All right, he told him, go ahead. Please 00:03:41.740 --> 00:03:44.800 come with us, somebody said. I will. So he went 00:03:44.800 --> 00:03:46.960 with them. And when they arrived at the Jordan, 00:03:47.319 --> 00:03:50.259 they began cutting down trees. But as one of 00:03:50.259 --> 00:03:53.780 them was cutting down a tree, his axe fell into 00:03:53.780 --> 00:03:57.020 the, his axe head fell into the river. And he 00:03:57.020 --> 00:04:00.740 said, Oh, sir, he cried. It was borrowed acts. 00:04:00.780 --> 00:04:05.699 And he's talking to Elisha again. You know, they're 00:04:05.699 --> 00:04:07.979 there to build this new place that they have 00:04:07.979 --> 00:04:10.759 a bigger area to meet. This was the sons of the 00:04:10.759 --> 00:04:13.900 prophets. And so these people knew God. They 00:04:13.900 --> 00:04:16.800 were learning of God. Of course, the Holy Spirit 00:04:16.800 --> 00:04:19.560 did not live within them, but he was upon them 00:04:19.560 --> 00:04:22.819 and led them by the spirit. And so they're there. 00:04:22.980 --> 00:04:26.480 And Elisha is. They had over all of these profits. 00:04:26.819 --> 00:04:31.180 And so this profit came and said, oh, my ex had 00:04:31.180 --> 00:04:35.230 fell in the water. It was borrowed. and immediately 00:04:35.230 --> 00:04:38.790 Elisha's compassion he didn't even blink he said 00:04:38.790 --> 00:04:41.790 where did it fall the man of God asked and it 00:04:41.790 --> 00:04:44.649 goes on and says when he showed the place Elisha 00:04:44.649 --> 00:04:47.610 cut a stick threw it in the water at the spot 00:04:47.610 --> 00:04:51.529 and the axe had floated to the surface grab it 00:04:51.529 --> 00:04:54.949 Elisha said the man reached out and grabbed it 00:04:54.949 --> 00:04:59.870 wow I mean in that instance because the man of 00:04:59.870 --> 00:05:03.720 God spoke the word of God through compassion 00:05:03.720 --> 00:05:08.259 and through love. God's love never fails and 00:05:08.259 --> 00:05:12.660 God's power works through love. because faith 00:05:12.660 --> 00:05:16.800 works by love. And so this man ran to Elijah 00:05:16.800 --> 00:05:19.540 the same way we're to run to God when we need 00:05:19.540 --> 00:05:23.000 him. This wasn't a physical healing he needed. 00:05:23.360 --> 00:05:26.439 It wasn't the salvation of his soul. It wasn't 00:05:26.439 --> 00:05:28.779 any of those things. It was something that can 00:05:28.779 --> 00:05:31.160 happen to any of us. You know, something breaks 00:05:31.160 --> 00:05:33.500 or something becomes missing that we borrowed. 00:05:34.139 --> 00:05:38.060 and he borrowed that axe to help and that axe 00:05:38.060 --> 00:05:40.560 fell in, but he ran to the man of God. You know, 00:05:40.560 --> 00:05:43.720 when we run to God, he's there every time and 00:05:43.720 --> 00:05:47.319 immediately will answer us the same way Elisha 00:05:47.319 --> 00:05:50.759 immediately answered. You know, you may not feel 00:05:50.759 --> 00:05:53.019 like your answer is there, but it's already there. 00:05:53.019 --> 00:05:55.680 Just keep trusting him. Keep trusting him. It's 00:05:55.680 --> 00:06:00.540 there. Jesus, you know, he saw the man's desperation 00:06:00.540 --> 00:06:05.399 through Elisha, you know, and Elisha showed Jesus's 00:06:05.399 --> 00:06:09.139 compassion to the man you know because Elisha 00:06:09.139 --> 00:06:13.060 is God's servant and he knew the power of God 00:06:13.060 --> 00:06:15.759 because he had been following around Elijah all 00:06:15.759 --> 00:06:18.420 those years before Elijah was translated which 00:06:18.420 --> 00:06:23.339 was another supernatural act of God and here 00:06:23.339 --> 00:06:27.459 God defies physics and brings this axe to the 00:06:27.459 --> 00:06:29.759 surface and it floats and then they were able 00:06:29.759 --> 00:06:35.449 to get it you know God will will he will Go anywhere 00:06:35.449 --> 00:06:39.470 any place to meet you to bring you to the place 00:06:39.470 --> 00:06:42.769 of victory When you're in a circumstance if you'll 00:06:42.769 --> 00:06:45.389 call on him, you know, this man humbled himself. 00:06:45.389 --> 00:06:47.649 He didn't say oh, well there goes an axe I'll 00:06:47.649 --> 00:06:50.529 just have to tell so -and -so, you know, who 00:06:50.529 --> 00:06:53.050 knows what the story is behind that axe. We don't 00:06:53.050 --> 00:06:55.250 get pretty we're not privy to that information, 00:06:55.310 --> 00:06:58.720 but You know, it was important to that man. Maybe 00:06:58.720 --> 00:07:01.399 it was just important to his integrity to return 00:07:01.399 --> 00:07:04.319 something he borrowed. I don't know, but God's 00:07:04.319 --> 00:07:07.639 grace and his mercy was there. You know, God's 00:07:07.639 --> 00:07:11.360 grace is there for, like I said, every circumstance, 00:07:11.860 --> 00:07:16.060 every situation. Let's go ahead and turn to Luke. 00:07:16.100 --> 00:07:19.490 We're going to talk in another story. We're going 00:07:19.490 --> 00:07:22.689 to go in Luke 22 and we're going to come to the 00:07:22.689 --> 00:07:26.050 place where they're about to arrest Jesus. Jesus 00:07:26.050 --> 00:07:29.290 is on the earth. He's been telling people about 00:07:29.290 --> 00:07:32.029 the love of God and healing the sick and raising 00:07:32.029 --> 00:07:36.870 the dead and delivering man from everything that 00:07:36.870 --> 00:07:40.230 you can imagine. For all that came to him, he 00:07:40.230 --> 00:07:43.230 answered them and it happened right then. He's 00:07:43.230 --> 00:07:48.660 a now God. Faith is now. It is now. And so use 00:07:48.660 --> 00:07:51.860 your faith today. Humble yourself. Go to him. 00:07:51.899 --> 00:07:54.399 Believe him. You know, it says the whole work 00:07:54.399 --> 00:07:58.100 of God is to believe. That's what we're to do. 00:07:58.300 --> 00:08:00.839 Believe and trust his word is true. Let's go on and 00:08:15.420 --> 00:08:19.060 in we're going to go we're in Luke chapter 22. 00:08:19.220 --> 00:08:24.079 We're going to go to verse 47. And in this verse, 00:08:24.259 --> 00:08:30.029 it says even Jesus. a crowd approach led by Judas 00:08:30.029 --> 00:08:32.330 one of the twelve disciples and Judas walked 00:08:32.330 --> 00:08:36.389 over to Jesus to greet him and with a kiss back 00:08:36.389 --> 00:08:38.730 then they greeted each other kissing each other 00:08:38.730 --> 00:08:40.610 on the cheek with a holy kiss and it's still 00:08:40.610 --> 00:08:43.090 done today in many countries and when the other 00:08:43.090 --> 00:08:46.309 decide and when Jesus said to him Judas would 00:08:46.309 --> 00:08:49.570 you betray the son of man with a kiss? You know, 00:08:49.649 --> 00:08:52.149 Jesus knew he was coming. He prophesied it earlier 00:08:52.149 --> 00:08:54.610 to the disciples. He knew Judas was going to 00:08:54.610 --> 00:08:58.129 betray him and but he speaks to him and then 00:08:58.129 --> 00:09:01.240 it says when the others disciples saw. what was 00:09:01.240 --> 00:09:04.559 about to happen they exclaimed Lord should we 00:09:04.559 --> 00:09:07.960 fight we brought our swords we will fight and 00:09:07.960 --> 00:09:11.639 immediately one of one of the disciples struck 00:09:11.639 --> 00:09:15.620 the high priest slave slashing off his right 00:09:15.620 --> 00:09:20.679 ear. Oh no here goes here goes the disciples 00:09:20.679 --> 00:09:23.990 again and in another. another book it does say 00:09:23.990 --> 00:09:27.269 it was Peter John I mean Luke didn't reveal it 00:09:27.269 --> 00:09:30.190 was Peter here but in another book of the Gospels 00:09:30.190 --> 00:09:33.870 it Peter you know Peter's bold and he wanted 00:09:33.870 --> 00:09:36.970 to defend his Lord he loves him but he didn't 00:09:36.970 --> 00:09:40.149 understand that Christ came to die for Peter 00:09:40.149 --> 00:09:43.169 he came to die for you and to die for me he took 00:09:43.169 --> 00:09:49.320 those sins on the cross that we would not live 00:09:49.320 --> 00:09:54.399 in detriment and despair and discouragement and 00:09:54.399 --> 00:09:57.080 defilement. He came that we would have life and 00:09:57.080 --> 00:10:01.740 life abundantly. And so Jesus, immediately it 00:10:01.740 --> 00:10:04.259 says in verse 50, and the one of them was struck 00:10:04.259 --> 00:10:05.980 the high priest slave slashing off his ears, 00:10:06.080 --> 00:10:08.860 but Jesus said, no more of this. He touched the 00:10:08.860 --> 00:10:14.750 man's ear and healed him. Jesus replaced that 00:10:14.750 --> 00:10:18.690 ear immediately again he defies everything in 00:10:18.690 --> 00:10:22.629 the natural with his supernatural power and that 00:10:22.629 --> 00:10:25.669 power was by the love and compassion even though 00:10:25.669 --> 00:10:27.970 Jesus was in the midst of getting arrested he 00:10:27.970 --> 00:10:31.250 wasn't thinking about himself he's always thinking 00:10:31.250 --> 00:10:34.389 about you and me he's always got you and me on 00:10:34.389 --> 00:10:37.570 his mind he immediately restored that slaves 00:10:37.570 --> 00:10:40.889 ear that slave could have lost that ear for life 00:10:40.889 --> 00:10:43.850 that's what would happen if you or I got sliced 00:10:43.850 --> 00:10:46.389 and we didn't know the power of God. But that 00:10:46.389 --> 00:10:48.889 same power that was available then is available 00:10:48.889 --> 00:10:53.850 now. It's available now for you and for me. And 00:10:53.850 --> 00:10:57.029 this man, whatever your need today, maybe you're 00:10:57.029 --> 00:11:00.950 hurting. Maybe you've lost a loved one. Maybe 00:11:00.950 --> 00:11:03.990 that pain is real. You know, when we lose a loved 00:11:03.990 --> 00:11:07.509 one, the pain is there because we miss them. 00:11:07.509 --> 00:11:10.019 When you're born again, Christian, and you lose 00:11:10.019 --> 00:11:15.629 a loved one, and I have many. That pain is real. 00:11:15.909 --> 00:11:18.889 But you know, when you're a Christian, you know 00:11:18.889 --> 00:11:22.669 what the hope of glory is. You know Jesus has 00:11:22.669 --> 00:11:25.070 a plan. You know one day you'll be in heaven 00:11:25.070 --> 00:11:29.690 restored with that loved one again. So we don't 00:11:29.690 --> 00:11:32.710 have to dread that it's over when it's over. 00:11:32.850 --> 00:11:35.370 It's not over. Death is not the end. Death is 00:11:35.370 --> 00:11:38.370 a doorway. And death will bring us either to 00:11:38.370 --> 00:11:42.610 life everlasting, in Christ in heaven or it'll 00:11:42.610 --> 00:11:45.330 bring us to hell and that's our choice and we'll 00:11:45.330 --> 00:11:48.429 talk more about that in a minute. But God's grace 00:11:48.429 --> 00:11:51.049 and his mercy is always there for you whatever 00:11:51.049 --> 00:11:56.070 your situation. Again, remember his love for 00:11:56.070 --> 00:11:59.230 you never fails. The Bible says love never fails. 00:11:59.289 --> 00:12:03.870 The Bible says God is love. He is love. I'm sorry, not chapter 00:12:23.970 --> 00:12:27.149 54, there's not a chapter 54. Verse 54, if I 00:12:27.149 --> 00:12:30.730 get my words right today. Peter, this is talking 00:12:30.730 --> 00:12:34.669 about when after they had already taken Jesus 00:12:34.669 --> 00:12:41.009 away to begin that road of Via della Rosa. It 00:12:41.009 --> 00:12:43.409 says, so they arrested Jesus and led him to the 00:12:43.409 --> 00:12:47.009 high priest's home and Peter, Followed at a distance, 00:12:47.169 --> 00:12:49.269 the guards lit a fire in the middle of the courtyard 00:12:49.269 --> 00:12:52.129 and sat around and Peter joined him there. A 00:12:52.129 --> 00:12:55.090 servant girl noticed him in the fire light and 00:12:55.090 --> 00:12:57.250 began staring at him. And finally she said, this 00:12:57.250 --> 00:13:00.529 man was one of Jesus's followers, but Peter. 00:13:01.560 --> 00:13:04.899 Peter the same one that served Jesus when he 00:13:04.899 --> 00:13:09.200 was on the earth the same one that received Jesus 00:13:09.200 --> 00:13:12.700 and was flowing in his power helping people to 00:13:12.700 --> 00:13:15.139 be healed and set free and delivered and cast 00:13:15.139 --> 00:13:21.059 out demons that same Peter. In this instant as 00:13:21.059 --> 00:13:24.220 Jesus was taken away and he's standing by this 00:13:24.220 --> 00:13:28.159 fire. And this woman sees him and says, you are 00:13:28.159 --> 00:13:30.500 one of Jesus's followers. What does he do? He 00:13:30.500 --> 00:13:36.480 said, no, I'm not. Wow. Wow. And about an hour 00:13:36.480 --> 00:13:39.399 later, someone else insisted, this must be the 00:13:39.399 --> 00:13:42.600 one of them because he's a Galilean. But Peter 00:13:42.600 --> 00:13:45.299 said, man, I don't know what you're talking about. 00:13:45.480 --> 00:13:48.600 And immediately, while he was still speaking, 00:13:48.860 --> 00:13:52.720 The crow the rooster crowed why because Peter 00:13:52.720 --> 00:13:57.539 denied him three times the same way Jesus. Spoke 00:13:57.539 --> 00:13:59.840 to him and said you're going to deny me three 00:13:59.840 --> 00:14:05.580 times. But and Peter did and it goes on to say. 00:14:07.259 --> 00:14:11.220 Peter left the courtyard weeping bitterly he 00:14:11.220 --> 00:14:15.179 was weeping bitterly he was. despondent. He just 00:14:15.179 --> 00:14:19.320 was so broken that he had did exactly. He never 00:14:19.320 --> 00:14:22.659 thought he would deny Jesus, but at this point 00:14:22.659 --> 00:14:25.919 in time, the Holy Spirit could not live inside 00:14:25.919 --> 00:14:30.039 of us because Jesus had not died and resurrected. 00:14:30.919 --> 00:14:33.679 Because that's a promise of God. Jesus said when 00:14:33.679 --> 00:14:36.799 I go to heaven, I'm going to send you the comforter. 00:14:36.820 --> 00:14:39.080 I'm going to send you the power. I'm going to 00:14:39.080 --> 00:14:41.480 send you the Holy Spirit that will live in you 00:14:41.480 --> 00:14:44.120 be with you and all around you that you can have 00:14:44.120 --> 00:14:46.820 a successful and victorious life on the earth. 00:14:47.080 --> 00:14:51.139 Glory to God. And so both we pick up this story 00:14:51.139 --> 00:14:57.960 in John chapter 21 verse 14. This is where Jesus 00:14:57.960 --> 00:15:02.340 after he dies and comes back. to the earth before 00:15:02.340 --> 00:15:06.440 he ascends into heaven. He had been seen of the 00:15:06.440 --> 00:15:09.059 disciples already a couple of times and in verse 00:15:09.059 --> 00:15:15.269 14 it says, This was the third time Jesus appeared 00:15:15.269 --> 00:15:17.269 to his disciples since he had been raised from 00:15:17.269 --> 00:15:19.909 the dead. And after breakfast, Jesus asked Simon, 00:15:20.110 --> 00:15:23.350 he said, Simon, son of John, do you love me more 00:15:23.350 --> 00:15:26.210 than these? And Simon being Peter said, yes, 00:15:26.309 --> 00:15:28.870 Lord, Peter replied, you know, I love you. And 00:15:28.870 --> 00:15:32.370 he's Jesus said, then feed my lambs. Jesus repeated 00:15:32.370 --> 00:15:34.710 the question, Simon, son of John, do you love 00:15:34.710 --> 00:15:37.950 me? And Peter said, Yes, Lord, you know, I love 00:15:37.950 --> 00:15:40.450 you. And he said, Then take care of my sheep, 00:15:40.730 --> 00:15:43.929 said Jesus a third time. He said, Simon, son 00:15:43.929 --> 00:15:47.409 of John, do you love me? And Peter was hurt that 00:15:47.409 --> 00:15:49.710 Jesus asked him a third time. And he said, Lord, 00:15:49.830 --> 00:15:52.970 you know everything. You know, I love you. And 00:15:52.970 --> 00:15:59.149 Jesus said, Then feed my sheep. You know, Jesus 00:15:59.149 --> 00:16:02.590 was reaffirming those three denials that he did. 00:16:02.610 --> 00:16:06.899 He reaffirmed him. And by him saying, yes, I 00:16:06.899 --> 00:16:09.860 love you. Yes, I love you the same way. If we 00:16:09.860 --> 00:16:12.299 sin, if we've been walking with Jesus, no matter 00:16:12.299 --> 00:16:15.039 how long you've known him, maybe you've walked 00:16:15.039 --> 00:16:17.820 with him your whole life. Maybe you you accept 00:16:17.820 --> 00:16:20.320 as him as Lord and Savior as a young child, but 00:16:20.320 --> 00:16:24.659 you stray. It's OK. He'll restore you when you 00:16:24.659 --> 00:16:28.019 return to him. He'll restore you. He loves you 00:16:28.019 --> 00:16:31.860 so much. He desires relationship, not religion. 00:16:32.320 --> 00:16:36.100 Religion is not relationship. People call Christianity 00:16:36.100 --> 00:16:40.059 religion. It's not. It's a life in Christ. It's 00:16:40.059 --> 00:16:45.100 a life in Christ. Religion just buries you in 00:16:45.100 --> 00:16:48.500 condemnation and fear and doubt and unbelief. 00:16:49.200 --> 00:16:53.340 But Jesus brings life and faith and health and 00:16:53.340 --> 00:16:56.840 He loves you today. That grace is available for 00:16:56.840 --> 00:17:00.159 you. The mercy is available to you. No matter 00:17:00.159 --> 00:17:03.100 what life has dealt you, no matter what your 00:17:03.100 --> 00:17:06.059 background, what your race, what your creed, 00:17:06.200 --> 00:17:09.500 God loves you and His grace is there.
