And so we're going to take 00:01:23.079 --> 00:01:25.620 a look at someone in the Bible. If you'll go 00:01:25.620 --> 00:01:30.030 with me to 1 Kings chapter 3. In First Kings, 00:01:30.090 --> 00:01:32.870 where we pick up the story is King David had 00:01:32.870 --> 00:01:36.030 died and King Solomon, his son, would be the 00:01:36.030 --> 00:01:38.750 one to take over. Now King Solomon was only around 00:01:38.750 --> 00:01:42.670 20 years old at the time and it says that in 00:01:42.670 --> 00:01:46.609 verse 1, and Solomon made an affinity with Pharaoh, 00:01:46.790 --> 00:01:48.810 the king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter 00:01:48.810 --> 00:01:51.730 and brought her to the city of David until where 00:01:51.730 --> 00:01:54.730 he made an end of a of the building of his house 00:01:54.730 --> 00:01:57.810 and the house of the Lord and the wall of Jerusalem 00:01:57.810 --> 00:02:00.530 round about because Solomon had been working 00:02:00.530 --> 00:02:05.390 on those things. Wow! 00:02:41.590 --> 00:02:44.830 You know, he loved God so much. He loved God. 00:02:44.870 --> 00:02:48.430 He was raised in the things of God. And this was a 00:03:12.240 --> 00:03:14.819 way you showed your love and devotion for God. 00:03:15.740 --> 00:03:18.139 And nowadays of course we have a new covenant 00:03:18.139 --> 00:03:21.259 and because of the blood of Jesus there's no 00:03:21.259 --> 00:03:23.740 more need for any other sacrifice because He 00:03:23.740 --> 00:03:28.430 was the Lamb of God. He was the ultimate sacrifice. 00:03:29.310 --> 00:03:31.909 And so we're going to keep going and in verse 00:03:31.909 --> 00:03:35.490 five, in Gibeon, the Lord appeared unto Solomon 00:03:35.490 --> 00:03:39.830 in a dream by night and God said, ask me what 00:03:39.830 --> 00:03:42.830 I shall give you. You know, just like when your 00:03:42.830 --> 00:03:45.889 child pleases you and have been obedient and 00:03:45.889 --> 00:03:48.169 is loving on you, you just want to bless them. 00:03:48.430 --> 00:03:52.180 This was God's heart towards Solomon. Solomon 00:03:52.180 --> 00:03:55.520 being the new king, the Lord said to him in this 00:03:55.520 --> 00:03:57.740 dream, Solomon was sleeping, it was at night, 00:03:58.240 --> 00:04:01.159 and he had a dream, and God said, ask me what 00:04:01.159 --> 00:04:05.620 I should give you. And Solomon said, you have 00:04:05.620 --> 00:04:10.020 showed unto your servant, David, my father, great 00:04:10.020 --> 00:04:13.879 mercy, according as he walked before you in truth 00:04:13.879 --> 00:04:17.379 and in righteousness, in uprightness of heart 00:04:17.379 --> 00:04:21.269 with you, and you have kept him from... you have 00:04:21.269 --> 00:04:25.069 kept for him this great kindness that you have 00:04:25.069 --> 00:04:30.209 given him a son to sit on his throne as of today. 00:04:30.750 --> 00:04:33.689 And that was Solomon. He was saying, you've been 00:04:33.689 --> 00:04:37.089 so good to my dad and according, of course, as 00:04:37.089 --> 00:04:39.810 he walked in truth and righteousness and uprightness 00:04:39.810 --> 00:04:43.189 of heart and that you've even allowed his own 00:04:43.189 --> 00:04:45.930 son to sit on the throne. So there will be not any among the 00:06:41.250 --> 00:06:46.009 kings like you all your days. So he was the wealthiest 00:06:46.009 --> 00:06:50.240 king in riches and in honor. honor as well as 00:06:50.240 --> 00:06:54.120 wisdom and understanding but he gives a caveat 00:06:54.120 --> 00:06:57.439 he says if you will walk in my ways to keep my 00:06:57.439 --> 00:07:01.000 statutes and my commandments as your father David 00:07:01.000 --> 00:07:05.319 did then I will lengthen your days and so Solomon 00:07:05.319 --> 00:07:09.279 woke up and he thought oh it was a dream and 00:07:09.279 --> 00:07:12.160 he came to Jerusalem and stood before the Ark 00:07:12.160 --> 00:07:14.600 of the Covenant. The Ark of the Covenant was 00:07:14.600 --> 00:07:17.500 where the presence of God resided during this 00:07:17.500 --> 00:07:22.610 time. Now since Jesus, nowadays, since the time 00:07:22.610 --> 00:07:25.790 Jesus died and rose again, he sent the Holy Spirit. 00:07:26.209 --> 00:07:29.029 So when we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and 00:07:29.029 --> 00:07:32.810 confess with our mouth he is Lord, then we receive 00:07:32.810 --> 00:07:36.810 the Holy Spirit. So the presence of God is not 00:07:36.810 --> 00:07:39.910 kept in the Ark of the Covenant any longer. There's 00:07:39.910 --> 00:07:43.819 no need for it. 15 and Solomon offered up burnt 00:07:43.819 --> 00:07:46.120 offerings and peace offerings and made a feast 00:07:46.120 --> 00:07:49.259 to all his servants. Then came their two women 00:07:49.259 --> 00:07:52.160 who were harlots unto the king and they stood 00:07:52.160 --> 00:07:55.379 before him. So they are standing before King 00:07:55.379 --> 00:07:58.800 Solomon and one woman said Lord I and this woman 00:07:58.800 --> 00:08:02.459 dwell in one house and I delivered a child with 00:08:02.459 --> 00:08:05.120 her in this house and it came to pass on the 00:08:05.120 --> 00:08:08.360 third day after I Delivered that child that this 00:08:08.360 --> 00:08:11.740 woman delivered also we were together and there 00:08:11.740 --> 00:08:14.660 was no stranger with us only the two of us in 00:08:14.660 --> 00:08:17.939 this house and This woman's child died in the 00:08:17.939 --> 00:08:20.980 night because she rolled on top of it. That's 00:10:51.590 --> 00:10:55.590 huge. You know, God spoke to Solomon in a dream, 00:10:55.870 --> 00:10:58.289 asked him, what do you want? And then he confirmed 00:10:58.289 --> 00:11:02.330 that word with signs following with what happened 00:11:02.330 --> 00:11:05.169 when he had to judge a situation right after 00:11:05.169 --> 00:11:08.190 that. So the same way, if God speaks to your 00:11:08.190 --> 00:11:13.090 heart something, He will prove it. He will confirm 00:11:13.090 --> 00:11:17.330 that word. If he's giving you an assignment and 00:11:17.330 --> 00:11:19.210 you're dilly -dallying, you're kind of going, 00:11:19.389 --> 00:11:22.769 well, was that God? Was it not God? Go back and 00:11:22.769 --> 00:11:26.970 check yourself and expect God to confirm that 00:11:26.970 --> 00:11:29.090 word. The same way he confirmed it with Solomon. 00:11:29.669 --> 00:11:33.389 God doesn't change. you know, but when we serve 00:11:33.389 --> 00:11:35.649 God with all our heart, you know, and if you 00:11:35.649 --> 00:11:38.649 haven't had God speak to you in a dream or a 00:11:38.649 --> 00:11:41.509 vision or hear his voice, if you'll just go to 00:11:41.509 --> 00:11:44.110 the word of God, many times the Holy Spirit will 00:11:44.110 --> 00:11:47.549 enlighten the word and bring us that mission 00:11:47.549 --> 00:11:51.149 from the word of God. The Bible says our life is but a vapor 00:12:43.870 --> 00:12:48.529 and it's over. So we want to be sure first of 00:12:48.529 --> 00:12:52.169 all as as king solomon started out love god with 00:12:52.169 --> 00:12:54.230 all your heart mind soul and strength that's 00:12:54.230 --> 00:12:57.690 the first commandment and then the second commandment 00:12:57.690 --> 00:12:59.889 is to love your neighbor as yourself because 00:12:59.889 --> 00:13:04.110 as you do that you are fulfilling god's purpose 00:13:04.110 --> 00:13:08.149 in the earth the same way in the old testament 00:13:08.149 --> 00:13:12.659 they had loads and loads and lines and lines 00:13:12.659 --> 00:13:15.299 and you can read it in the Old Testament of commandments, 00:13:15.799 --> 00:13:18.679 but in the New Testament it says all the commandments 00:13:18.679 --> 00:13:21.919 hang on these two, the two I just quoted you. 00:13:22.159 --> 00:13:24.960 Why? You know, the Bible says in 00:13:38.570 --> 00:13:42.870 1 Corinthians 2 9, excuse me, but it is written, 00:13:43.090 --> 00:13:45.809 eye is not seen nor ear is heard, neither has 00:13:45.809 --> 00:13:48.909 entered into the heart of the man the things 00:13:48.909 --> 00:13:52.629 God has prepared for those that love him. You 00:13:52.629 --> 00:13:55.629 know, when we love God the way Solomon did, what 00:13:55.629 --> 00:13:59.350 did God offer him? You know, and Solomon's heart 00:13:59.350 --> 00:14:03.409 was so pure at that point before God that he 00:14:03.409 --> 00:14:06.480 asked for wisdom and understanding, and what 00:14:06.480 --> 00:14:09.200 did God say? I'm not only gonna give you that, 00:14:09.559 --> 00:14:13.059 I'm gonna give you riches and honor, and he just 00:14:13.059 --> 00:14:16.600 poured it onto him. The same way loving parents 00:14:16.600 --> 00:14:20.340 do to children, that they just wanna show their 00:14:20.340 --> 00:14:23.980 love, and when they ask for something, they usually 00:14:23.980 --> 00:14:27.899 pour out more than just that thing, because God's 00:14:27.899 --> 00:14:32.500 love is so great for you and for me. Now, he 00:14:32.500 --> 00:14:35.600 would like us to obey, he doesn't force us to, 00:14:36.000 --> 00:14:39.259 but if we do, there's always reward, there's 00:14:39.259 --> 00:14:43.159 always treasure. Now, what happens to Solomon? 00:14:44.240 --> 00:14:47.740 Let's turn to, we're going to jump forward to 00:14:47.740 --> 00:14:53.000 1 Kings chapter 11. And Solomon begins to make 00:14:53.000 --> 00:14:57.279 a turn. and you know at this point in chapter 00:14:57.279 --> 00:14:59.539 12 you'll learn about how all the earth was seeking 00:14:59.539 --> 00:15:01.860 Solomon to hear his wisdom and what God had put 00:15:01.860 --> 00:15:05.159 in his heart and they brought garments and gold 00:15:05.159 --> 00:15:08.779 and spices and and he gathered up all the things 00:15:08.779 --> 00:15:13.740 and but what happened was by chapter 11 I want 00:15:13.740 --> 00:15:17.299 to read this to you it says but Solomon loved 00:15:17.299 --> 00:15:19.740 many strange women together with the daughter 00:15:19.740 --> 00:15:22.799 of Pharaoh the woman of the Moabites the Ammonites 00:15:22.799 --> 00:15:27.450 that Edomites the Zionians and the Hittites and 00:15:27.450 --> 00:15:29.710 of the nations concerning which the Lord had 00:15:29.710 --> 00:15:32.750 said unto the children of Israel you will not 00:15:32.750 --> 00:15:35.990 go into them nor will they come to you for surely 00:15:35.990 --> 00:15:40.389 they will turn your heart after their gods and 00:15:40.389 --> 00:15:45.360 Solomon cherished these in love. and he had 700 00:15:45.360 --> 00:15:49.320 wives, princes, 300 concubines, and his wives 00:15:49.320 --> 00:15:52.720 turned away his heart. That's verse three. Can 00:15:52.720 --> 00:15:57.519 you imagine 700 wives, princesses, and 300 concubines? 00:15:57.639 --> 00:15:59.860 The concubine was a mistress at that time that 00:15:59.860 --> 00:16:04.100 he did not marry. So imagine, I mean, two women 00:16:04.100 --> 00:16:07.539 in a household is a problem. So imagine this. 00:16:08.029 --> 00:16:10.669 Okay, verse four, so it came to pass when Solomon 00:16:10.669 --> 00:16:13.169 was old that his wives turned away his heart 00:16:13.169 --> 00:16:16.029 after other gods and his heart was not perfect 00:16:16.029 --> 00:16:19.870 with the Lord God as was the heart of David his 00:16:19.870 --> 00:16:24.580 father. So Solomon went after Ashereth, the goddess 00:16:24.580 --> 00:16:29.059 of Zionians, and after Milcom, the abomination 00:16:29.059 --> 00:16:32.500 of the Ammonites, and Solomon did evil in the 00:16:32.500 --> 00:16:35.019 sight of the Lord and went not fully after God 00:16:35.019 --> 00:16:38.879 as David did.
