You know, he was the only one to 00:01:51.099 --> 00:01:54.280 say no to temptation. He could have sinned, he 00:01:54.280 --> 00:01:57.560 had a free will. He was raised just as we're 00:01:57.560 --> 00:02:00.680 raised with a mom and dad, and they raised him 00:02:00.680 --> 00:02:04.319 in the fear and admonition of God, the same way 00:02:04.319 --> 00:02:08.419 some of us are raised, yet he was without sin. 00:02:09.319 --> 00:02:12.789 But he did endure temptation. And so let's go 00:02:12.789 --> 00:02:15.629 to where Jesus endured temptation first. So we're 00:02:15.629 --> 00:02:19.770 going to go to Matthew four, verse one, it says, 00:02:19.990 --> 00:02:22.270 then Jesus was led up by the spirit into the 00:02:22.270 --> 00:02:25.289 wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when 00:02:25.289 --> 00:02:28.050 he had fasted 40 days and 40 nights afterwards, 00:02:28.050 --> 00:02:31.310 he was hungry. Now when the tempter came, he 00:02:31.310 --> 00:02:34.569 said, if you are the son of God, command these 00:02:34.569 --> 00:02:38.300 stones to become bread. But Jesus answered and 00:02:38.300 --> 00:02:42.080 said, it is written, man shall not live by bread 00:02:42.080 --> 00:02:45.460 alone, but by every word that proceeds out of 00:02:45.460 --> 00:02:49.259 the mouth of God. Wow. You know, here's Jesus. 00:02:49.340 --> 00:02:52.500 He is hungry. He hasn't eaten in 40 days and 00:02:52.500 --> 00:02:55.759 40 nights. And what did Jesus say 00:04:04.830 --> 00:04:09.030 to him? You know, Jesus said, you shall not tempt 00:04:09.030 --> 00:04:12.689 the Lord your God. He knew it was a tempting. 00:04:13.250 --> 00:04:16.209 He knew the word. You know, James 00:04:46.720 --> 00:04:50.199 says, submit yourself to God, resist the enemy 00:04:50.199 --> 00:04:54.680 and he will flee. You know, Jesus used the word 00:04:54.680 --> 00:04:57.319 to resist him and he's our ultimate example. 00:04:57.420 --> 00:05:00.759 He's the ultimate champion. And so we follow 00:05:00.759 --> 00:05:03.800 that example and we use the word against him 00:05:03.800 --> 00:05:07.750 too. But Satan wasn't done in his tempting. He 00:05:07.750 --> 00:05:11.110 again, in verse eight, again the devil took him 00:05:11.110 --> 00:05:15.629 up on an exceedingly high mountain and showed 00:05:15.629 --> 00:05:19.149 him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 00:05:19.750 --> 00:05:22.889 And he said unto them, all these things I will 00:05:22.889 --> 00:05:26.269 give you if you will fall down and worship me. 00:05:27.100 --> 00:05:29.959 That was Satan's whole goal anyway. That's what he 00:05:36.379 --> 00:05:39.019 did when he was in heaven. He said, I'll exalt 00:05:39.019 --> 00:05:42.899 my throne above God's. That's what he said. That's 00:05:42.899 --> 00:05:45.480 what got him cast out of heaven was that pride. 00:05:46.420 --> 00:05:50.300 And here Jesus, he's offering Jesus all these 00:05:50.300 --> 00:05:54.589 kingdoms and the glory with them. And Jesus said 00:05:54.589 --> 00:05:58.009 to him, verse 10, away with you, Satan, for it 00:05:58.009 --> 00:06:00.670 is written, you will worship the Lord your God 00:06:00.670 --> 00:06:04.889 and him only will we serve. You can't serve God 00:06:04.889 --> 00:06:07.829 and mammon. It doesn't mean God doesn't want 00:06:07.829 --> 00:06:11.689 you to be blessed and prosperous, have nice things. 00:06:12.089 --> 00:06:14.449 No, all of that's in the Word. He just doesn't 00:06:14.449 --> 00:06:17.689 want those nice things to have you. And in this 00:06:17.689 --> 00:06:22.110 instance, he spoke directly to Satan again, which 00:06:22.110 --> 00:06:25.550 is what we're to do. Satan is our enemy in all 00:06:25.550 --> 00:06:28.230 his cohorts. So when you get things coming in 00:06:28.230 --> 00:06:32.040 your in your mind because not every thought comes 00:06:32.040 --> 00:06:34.779 from you. Sometimes the enemy will send a thought 00:06:34.779 --> 00:06:37.399 into your mind. You don't have to take that thought. 00:06:37.720 --> 00:06:40.720 You cast it down with the Word of God. You say no in Jesus' name and you 00:06:52.500 --> 00:06:55.660 declare the Word over that. You know the devil left him for a time and 00:07:05.019 --> 00:07:08.000 the devil can't be everywhere at one time. There's 00:07:08.000 --> 00:07:10.399 one devil but there's many demons. He restored us to that place that 00:08:39.350 --> 00:08:42.639 originally Adam had before he fell. where we 00:08:42.639 --> 00:08:45.779 are blessed on every side, but how do we stay 00:08:45.779 --> 00:08:50.419 blessed? We stay blessed by not yielding to temptation. 00:08:51.120 --> 00:08:53.639 You know, the Bible says, I'm bought with a price. 00:08:53.720 --> 00:08:57.220 I am not my own. You know, when Christ died for 00:08:57.220 --> 00:09:01.529 us and we receive him as Lord and Savior, He's 00:09:01.529 --> 00:09:04.389 bought us with that price the price of his precious 00:09:04.389 --> 00:09:07.450 blood. You know, he didn't have to but he chose 00:09:07.450 --> 00:09:12.629 to why because he loves you and I so much, you 00:09:12.629 --> 00:09:16.970 know. We're going to read James 1, 12 through 00:09:16.970 --> 00:09:20.169 16. It says, blessed is a man that endures temptation, 00:09:20.669 --> 00:09:23.070 for when he's tried, he shall receive the crown 00:09:23.070 --> 00:09:26.090 of life which the Lord has promised to those 00:09:26.090 --> 00:09:30.570 who love him. You know, when you love God, you 00:09:30.570 --> 00:09:34.799 will not follow through when a temptation comes 00:09:34.799 --> 00:09:38.240 because you so want to please him. And I'll read 00:13:29.200 --> 00:13:31.840 you a scripture, it's in Hebrews, it says, Seeing 00:13:31.840 --> 00:13:34.899 that we have a great high priest that is passed 00:13:34.899 --> 00:13:37.679 into heaven, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold 00:13:37.679 --> 00:13:40.789 fast to our profession. For it's not that we 00:13:40.789 --> 00:13:43.149 have a high priest who cannot be touched with 00:13:43.149 --> 00:13:45.929 the feeling of our infirmities but was in all 00:13:45.929 --> 00:13:50.750 points tempted like as we are yet without sin. 00:13:51.090 --> 00:13:54.389 He's that ultimate champion. He's been tempted by everything 00:14:49.289 --> 00:14:54.070 man can be tempted by, but yet he chose not to, 00:14:54.169 --> 00:14:59.129 not to engage in that temptation. So we are trying 00:14:59.129 --> 00:15:02.440 to be more like the ultimate champion. And guess 00:15:02.440 --> 00:15:06.019 what? When you're born again, you become a new 00:15:06.019 --> 00:15:09.039 creature in Christ. The Holy Spirit lives in 00:15:09.039 --> 00:15:12.220 you, so you're well equipped to say no and make 00:15:12.220 --> 00:15:16.919 a stand. Say no and make a stand. It will be 00:15:16.919 --> 00:15:21.240 a blessing in your life. You will be rewarded 00:15:21.240 --> 00:15:26.740 for it.
