Welcome to Family TV Uncovered! Hello everyone, welcome to Family TV Uncovered, where I talk all about clean, family-friendly TV shows and movies that I grew up with. I'm your host, Jennifer, and in today's episode, I'll be talking about myself, my background, and why I created this podcast. I'm a homeschool mom of three kiddos and a small business owner. I grew up in the 80s and 90s, and I have a confession to make: I was a TV addict as a child.

I never went outside unless there was a TV. If you've seen "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead," the little brother Walter says, "No TV, no prizes." That was me. My parents divorced when I was eight. If you've ever experienced that as a kid, you know how much arguing, name-calling, and bouncing between houses can wear on you. TV became my comfort, my constant. It never judged me, and I felt connected to the characters more than real people.

I watched so much TV I became the walking TV Guide in my family. I could tell you what show was on every channel, every night, the actors, the plot—you name it. I don't watch modern TV. I'm old school. This podcast is my way of spotlighting the older shows that shaped me and can still offer something valuable to families today.

I won't be talking about recent shows. They don't resonate with me. And when I watch shows with my kids today, they're all classics—shows I grew up on. We have a calendar of shows we rotate weekly. When I search online for "family-friendly TV," I see recommendations that honestly don't make sense to me. I think a lot of people are missing out on the old stuff—the shows that actually taught morals.

As a Christian mom, I'm careful about what I let my kids watch. I believe what the Bible says about guarding our hearts and minds. Philippians 4:8 is a verse I often think about: "Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable... think on these things." Classic TV reflects more of that than what I see in modern programming. Those shows showed strong families, good values, and meaningful storytelling. That's what I want to bring back.

Old TV just had better writing, better production, and more creativity. No CGI. Just raw talent, practical effects, and clever scripts. Even animal actors! My kids appreciate it, too. They're not interested in a lot of the new stuff. I want to keep their focus—and mine—on what's admirable, praiseworthy, and uplifting.

Funny thing—after growing up glued to the TV, I ended up majoring in Communications and Media and working at CBS! I got to meet actors and creators from the very shows that shaped my childhood. I even got to thank some of them for helping me through my parents' divorce. That was a full-circle moment I'll never forget.

We're all busy. Most parents don't have time to vet every show for their kids. That's why I'm here—to save you time. I've already done the research. I've spent years watching and rewatching these shows, and I know which ones are worth sharing.
