Well the difference 00:00:43.670 --> 00:00:46.679 is... Kindness is showing the love of Christ 00:00:46.679 --> 00:00:49.719 to others But people -pleasing is doing stuff 00:00:49.719 --> 00:00:53.299 for others that often goes beyond our own Boundaries 00:00:53.299 --> 00:00:56.320 just to get validation and approval from others 00:00:56.320 --> 00:01:00.259 But as it says in Proverbs chapter 29 verse 25 00:01:00.259 --> 00:01:03.520 and the easy English Bible If you are afraid 00:01:03.520 --> 00:01:05.980 of what people think about you, you will never 00:01:05.980 --> 00:01:09.180 feel safe But if you trust in the Lord, he will 00:01:09.180 --> 00:01:12.659 keep you safe cool, but I have another question 00:01:12.890 --> 00:01:15.930 What is the root of people -pleasing? Okay, so 00:01:15.930 --> 00:01:19.329 people -pleasing is a rotten fruit. And the root 00:01:19.329 --> 00:01:22.230 of it can be many things. It can be a low self 00:01:22.230 --> 00:01:24.989 -esteem. It could be fear of man, which is a 00:01:24.989 --> 00:01:28.670 strong desire to control how other people see 00:01:28.670 --> 00:01:32.010 you. Honestly, it can even be caused from idolatry. 00:01:32.510 --> 00:01:36.069 Idolatry? Which, in a nutshell, just means that 00:01:36.069 --> 00:01:38.269 someone takes the place of God in our lives. 00:01:38.730 --> 00:01:41.980 Instead of God influencing our decisions, people 00:01:41.980 --> 00:01:44.939 start to influence our decisions. And as you 00:01:44.939 --> 00:01:47.500 might be beginning to see, people -pleasing can 00:01:47.500 --> 00:01:50.579 have a detrimental effect. So it's important 00:01:50.579 --> 00:01:55.040 to ask God to evaluate our hearts. In 1 Thessalonians 00:01:55.040 --> 00:01:58.840 chapter 2 verse 4 in the ERV version it says, 00:01:59.400 --> 00:02:03.040 So when we speak, we are only trying to please 00:02:03.040 --> 00:02:07.159 God, not anyone else. He is the one who can see 00:02:07.159 --> 00:02:11.069 what is in our hearts. We are to please God. 00:02:11.830 --> 00:02:14.610 Okay, so now that I know all this stuff about 00:02:14.610 --> 00:02:17.770 people pleasing and why I shouldn't do it, how 00:02:17.770 --> 00:02:20.330 do I break the chain of people pleasing? Just like 00:03:32.120 --> 00:03:34.840 we might not like everybody, not everybody is 00:03:34.840 --> 00:03:37.639 going to like us or has to like us, I've got 00:03:37.639 --> 00:03:40.080 to understand that not everybody is going to 00:03:40.080 --> 00:03:42.439 be my friend. But I don't have to go out of my 00:03:42.439 --> 00:03:44.719 way to try and please them. Instead, work well all the 00:04:01.900 --> 00:04:05.439 time as slaves who serve Christ. Work in the 00:04:05.439 --> 00:04:08.419 way that God wants you to work. Wait though, 00:04:08.659 --> 00:04:10.860 sometimes it's difficult to know if I'm pleasing 00:04:10.860 --> 00:04:14.460 people or Jesus. That was my question too.
