He's doing 00:05:12.209 --> 00:05:14.050 all this sort of healing and he's doing it for 00:05:14.050 --> 00:05:18.189 a long time, 12 hours. Now friends, if you were 00:05:18.189 --> 00:05:21.509 in this time during the word that just happened 00:05:21.509 --> 00:05:23.750 in Luke, guess what happened? It's a highly communal 00:05:23.750 --> 00:05:25.730 society. You know what they did? If something 00:05:25.730 --> 00:05:27.750 like this was happening, you would get on your 00:05:27.750 --> 00:05:30.470 phone, right? You'd probably start posting it, 00:05:30.769 --> 00:05:32.750 instaring it, Facebooking it, calling friends. 00:05:33.069 --> 00:05:36.569 Anyone sick? Come on in. In those days, children 00:05:36.569 --> 00:05:39.110 were sent. Children run to the next village. 00:05:39.189 --> 00:05:41.149 They were like the messengers. At daybreak, Jesus went to a solitary 00:06:13.560 --> 00:06:19.399 place. He's tired. He's exhausted. And what does 00:06:19.399 --> 00:06:22.519 he do? Goes to a solitary place. Throughout the 00:08:56.070 --> 00:08:58.590 book of Luke, there's this thing going on. Jesus 00:08:58.590 --> 00:09:04.029 is going somewhere. Luke 17, 11. Now, on his 00:09:04.029 --> 00:09:07.509 way to, everyone say it together, Jerusalem. 00:09:07.509 --> 00:09:10.909 You're picking it up, right? Jesus traveled along 00:09:10.909 --> 00:09:14.549 the border between Samaria and Galilee. Let's 00:09:14.549 --> 00:09:17.370 go another book over, Luke 18, 31, for those 00:09:17.370 --> 00:09:22.269 who are really quick with the phones. Yes. My 00:09:22.269 --> 00:09:25.419 man, right there, right there. Jesus took the 00:09:25.419 --> 00:09:30.759 12 aside and he told them, we are going up to 00:09:30.759 --> 00:09:35.740 Jerusalem. Right? Luke 19, 28. There's only a 00:09:35.740 --> 00:09:38.860 few of them. After Jesus had said this, he went 00:09:38.860 --> 00:09:43.659 on ahead going up to Jerusalem. You're good. 00:09:44.759 --> 00:09:46.659 There's this thing in the book of Luke. There's 00:09:46.659 --> 00:09:50.779 like this beat. There's like this thing that's 00:09:50.779 --> 00:09:53.529 driving Jesus. and every good decision, every 00:09:53.529 --> 00:09:56.330 good thing that he has to do, he weighs up and 00:09:56.330 --> 00:10:00.309 says to himself, does this get me to Jerusalem 00:10:00.309 --> 00:10:03.549 or not? Making sense? Now I don't know if you 00:10:03.549 --> 00:10:06.470 know the geography, Jerusalem's on a hill. So 00:10:06.470 --> 00:10:10.950 they're always going up to Jerusalem. It doesn't 00:10:10.950 --> 00:10:13.370 stop him from ministering to people, having 12 00:10:13.370 --> 00:10:17.409 hour sessions of miracles. Doesn't stop him from 00:10:17.409 --> 00:10:19.309 talking to someone who's in a tree and saying, 00:10:19.309 --> 00:10:22.730 hey, come to have dinner at my house. But everything 00:10:22.730 --> 00:10:26.850 that Jesus does is around this idea and around 00:10:26.850 --> 00:10:33.110 this intentionality of going to Jerusalem. After that, in Acts it says there 00:14:17.519 --> 00:14:20.779 was a core group of 120 in the upper room. Anyone 00:14:20.779 --> 00:14:25.220 know that? 120. So this is what I've picked up. 00:14:25.759 --> 00:14:30.980 Jesus had a group of 120, an inner circle. And 00:14:30.980 --> 00:14:34.860 then he had a group of 72, an inner, inner circle. 00:14:35.419 --> 00:14:42.059 And then he had a group of 12, a inner, inner. 00:14:42.110 --> 00:14:46.850 inner circle, and then he had a group of three, 00:14:47.110 --> 00:14:50.710 Peter, James, and John, an inner, inner, inner, 00:14:50.769 --> 00:14:56.070 inner circle. What does this mean? What can we 00:14:56.070 --> 00:14:59.789 learn from Jesus' life? And this is my observation, 00:15:00.070 --> 00:15:05.330 friends. Jesus goes deeper with fewer and fewer. 00:15:07.330 --> 00:15:10.879 I know profound, huh? He goes, deeper with fewer 00:15:10.879 --> 00:15:12.820 and fewer. Can I ask you, how many friends do 00:15:12.820 --> 00:15:18.320 you, how many friends can you really have? You 00:15:18.320 --> 00:15:21.919 probably can't have 72 best friends.
