Whenever 00:06:37.069 --> 00:06:39.850 I hear this, I think back to 2019 when I was 00:06:39.850 --> 00:06:42.250 going through cancer and it was the first time 00:06:42.250 --> 00:06:47.730 in my life, I was only Amy. And it kind of, it 00:06:47.730 --> 00:06:50.670 rocked my world. I wasn't being a mom. I wasn't 00:06:50.670 --> 00:06:53.689 being a wife. I wasn't being a ministering sister. 00:06:53.790 --> 00:06:56.709 I mean, I tried a little bit, but like I wasn't 00:06:56.709 --> 00:06:59.310 anything but Amy. And it was like for the first 00:06:59.310 --> 00:07:01.430 time in my life, number one, it was kind of scary. 00:07:01.660 --> 00:07:03.699 Because I, you know, someone would say, how are 00:07:03.699 --> 00:07:05.180 you doing? He shares the most touching example 00:08:30.420 --> 00:08:33.700 from his own life, and so this is in 1909 in 00:08:33.700 --> 00:08:37.480 Germany, and his great -grandfather, Martin Gassner, 00:08:37.580 --> 00:08:39.639 was struggling with drinking and wasting his 00:08:39.639 --> 00:08:42.200 wages, and it was putting his marriage at risk. 00:08:42.360 --> 00:08:44.080 His wife had had it. After a co -worker shared 00:08:44.080 --> 00:08:46.539 a Mormon pamphlet that he found, they traveled 00:08:46.539 --> 00:08:48.700 to investigate the church and unexpectedly found 00:08:48.700 --> 00:08:51.419 a small congregation meeting in a rented hall 00:08:51.419 --> 00:08:54.220 above a funeral home. He was touched by the spirit 00:08:54.220 --> 00:08:57.039 and Martin gained testimony. When he said he 00:08:57.039 --> 00:08:59.100 couldn't afford to travel so far each week, because 00:08:59.100 --> 00:09:01.220 at this point he's quite far from home, the humble 00:09:01.220 --> 00:09:04.139 branch president personally helped him find both 00:09:04.139 --> 00:09:07.820 a job and housing within hours. Martin moved, 00:09:07.960 --> 00:09:10.159 was baptized six months later with his family 00:09:10.159 --> 00:09:12.379 and transformed from a hopeless drunk into a 00:09:12.379 --> 00:09:14.860 devoted, faithful man. This is the part I love 00:09:14.860 --> 00:09:17.940 from the story. Though this branch president's 00:09:17.940 --> 00:09:21.879 name is lost, His quiet discipleship changed 00:09:21.879 --> 00:09:24.220 generations and his influence continues more 00:09:24.220 --> 00:09:27.580 than a century later. And Elder Kuvliye said 00:09:27.580 --> 00:09:29.539 that he calls him friend, like that's the name 00:09:29.539 --> 00:09:31.980 he would give him, and I loved that. And probably 00:09:31.980 --> 00:09:34.299 an opportunity will present itself on the other 00:09:34.299 --> 00:09:36.080 side. Absolutely, right?
