And I've 00:01:35.159 --> 00:01:37.959 always appreciated it. It has a very humble, 00:01:39.260 --> 00:01:42.040 gentle way about it. And I just really like it. 00:01:42.750 --> 00:01:45.549 I love that he shared this. I can still remember one specific 00:02:44.360 --> 00:02:46.860 night, it was Sunday, more than 75 years ago 00:02:46.860 --> 00:02:49.139 when it was dark and cold outside. I remember 00:02:49.139 --> 00:02:51.610 a feeling of light and warmth. as I realized 00:02:51.610 --> 00:02:54.650 that I had kept the commandment to gather with 00:02:54.650 --> 00:02:57.270 the saints to partake of the sacrament, covenanting 00:02:57.270 --> 00:02:59.990 with our Father in heaven, to always remember 00:02:59.990 --> 00:03:02.650 His Son and to keep His commandments. I felt the Savior's 00:03:16.129 --> 00:03:19.240 love and closeness that evening. through the 00:03:19.240 --> 00:03:21.699 comfort of the Holy Ghost. Abby, I remember on 00:03:21.699 --> 00:03:24.020 my mission, we sang this song sometimes as we 00:03:24.020 --> 00:03:26.379 leave a home where we've been teaching a message 00:03:26.379 --> 00:03:29.139 of Jesus Christ in the evening. And as we acted 00:03:29.139 --> 00:03:31.819 on his invitation to remember him, this song 00:03:31.819 --> 00:03:34.560 always brought, regardless of how well we sang 00:03:34.560 --> 00:03:37.520 it, it always brought a spirit of peace and love 00:03:37.520 --> 00:03:40.560 and Christ's awareness of us huddled at a doorway 00:03:40.560 --> 00:03:43.939 in Italy as we gathered in his name. I know on 00:03:43.939 --> 00:03:45.400 missions, it's not like the first time people 00:03:45.400 --> 00:03:47.560 have heard of Jesus Christ when we share that 00:03:47.560 --> 00:03:51.039 message. What's cool is 00:04:18.139 --> 00:04:20.839 when you've had it once and then you can reflect 00:04:20.839 --> 00:04:24.079 back on it and feel that feeling again. I want 00:04:24.079 --> 00:04:27.319 that again. Yeah. Um, he wanted to rekindle the 00:04:27.319 --> 00:04:29.279 same feeling of the Savior's love and the closeness 00:04:29.279 --> 00:04:31.379 I had felt to the Lord during that sacrament 00:04:31.379 --> 00:04:34.060 meeting in my youth. So I kept another simple 00:04:34.060 --> 00:04:36.379 commandment. I searched the scriptures in the 00:04:36.379 --> 00:04:38.339 book of Luke. I read on the third day after his 00:04:38.339 --> 00:04:40.939 crucifixion in burial. when faithful servants 00:04:40.939 --> 00:04:44.120 had come out of love for the Savior to anoint 00:04:44.120 --> 00:04:46.120 his body, and when they arrived they found the 00:04:46.120 --> 00:04:48.040 stone rolled away from the tomb and saw that 00:04:48.040 --> 00:04:50.540 his body was not there. Two angels stood by and 00:04:50.540 --> 00:04:53.600 asked why they were afraid. Why seek ye the living 00:04:53.600 --> 00:04:56.399 among the dead? He is not here, but is risen. 00:04:56.540 --> 00:04:59.800 Remember how he spake unto you when he was yet 00:04:59.800 --> 00:05:02.579 in Galilee, saying, The Son of Man must be delivered 00:05:02.579 --> 00:05:04.560 to the hands of sinful men and be crucified, 00:05:04.819 --> 00:05:07.459 and the third day rise again. They told him of their 00:05:15.079 --> 00:05:17.519 sadness that Jesus had died when they had trusted 00:05:17.519 --> 00:05:20.959 that he would be the Redeemer of Israel. There 00:05:20.959 --> 00:05:23.540 must have been affection in the risen Lord's 00:05:23.540 --> 00:05:26.240 voice as he spoke to these two sorrowful and 00:05:26.240 --> 00:05:29.959 mourning disciples. And then President Irene 00:05:29.959 --> 00:05:31.779 goes on to share his personal experiences as 00:05:31.779 --> 00:05:34.019 he studied the scriptures. As I continued to 00:05:34.019 --> 00:05:36.120 read, there came these words that warmed my heart 00:05:36.120 --> 00:05:39.000 just as I had felt when I was a little boy. And 00:05:39.000 --> 00:05:41.040 I drew nigh unto the village, whither they went, 00:05:41.060 --> 00:05:42.959 and he made as though he would have gone further. 00:05:43.279 --> 00:05:45.180 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with 00:05:45.180 --> 00:05:47.800 us, for it is toward evening, and the day is 00:05:47.800 --> 00:05:50.860 far spent. As we hear these words of the 00:06:50.220 --> 00:06:52.379 two disciples, maybe we could ask ourselves. 00:06:53.069 --> 00:06:56.569 When is a time most recently that I felt my heart 00:06:56.569 --> 00:06:58.829 burn within as I learned of Christ or when the 00:06:58.829 --> 00:07:01.370 scriptures were open to me through the Holy Ghost? 00:07:02.970 --> 00:07:04.810 And after this, Abby, we're going to jump into 00:07:04.810 --> 00:07:07.189 his third invitation to come closer to Christ. 00:07:07.829 --> 00:07:10.790 President Irene teaches just as his beloved disciples, 00:07:11.509 --> 00:07:13.610 every child of Heavenly Father who has chosen 00:07:13.610 --> 00:07:16.310 to enter through the gates of baptism is under 00:07:16.310 --> 00:07:19.629 covenant to be a witness of the Savior and to 00:07:19.629 --> 00:07:21.569 care for those in need throughout our mortal 00:07:21.569 --> 00:07:24.829 lives. These are the words that Alma shared at 00:07:24.829 --> 00:07:27.050 the waters of baptism. So I love this scripture. 00:07:49.490 --> 00:07:51.810 Another action item here, how am I doing at morning 00:07:51.810 --> 00:07:54.370 with those who mourn? And I feel like a good 00:07:54.370 --> 00:07:56.670 question is, do I know how to hold space for 00:07:56.670 --> 00:07:59.629 someone who might not have immediate resolution 00:07:59.629 --> 00:08:04.089 or answers? It's unique. Like if you think you're 00:08:04.089 --> 00:08:05.490 a good baker, you might be like, oh, I should 00:08:05.490 --> 00:08:07.689 take him treats. I think he's so confident in 00:11:25.919 --> 00:11:27.940 the plan that he knows it's going to work out. 00:11:28.139 --> 00:11:30.940 And what he has control over is himself and he 00:11:30.940 --> 00:11:34.179 continues to do that. I think this is the perfect 00:12:09.450 --> 00:12:12.269 way to demonstrate saying the right thing or 00:12:12.269 --> 00:12:14.529 not saying anything at all, depending on what 00:12:14.529 --> 00:12:17.049 the Spirit prompts, but just a simple prayer 00:12:17.049 --> 00:12:20.779 to surround your loved ones with His love. Sometimes his love may come in the form 00:12:23.500 --> 00:12:27.480 of a neighbor that with no ulterior motive that 00:12:27.480 --> 00:12:29.879 they're just serving and having these tender 00:12:29.879 --> 00:12:32.860 experiences with your family members that maybe 00:12:32.860 --> 00:12:35.460 you have less daily interactions with. Sometimes 00:12:56.980 --> 00:13:00.340 you learn, oh, that didn't work as well, or I 00:13:00.340 --> 00:13:02.200 had a kind of a slight feeling, but I wasn't 00:13:02.200 --> 00:13:04.080 sure it was the Spirit, and now I'm pretty sure 00:13:04.080 --> 00:13:06.039 it was. Do you know what I mean? And was the 00:13:06.039 --> 00:13:08.080 thing that you did, was it positive in any way? 00:13:08.080 --> 00:13:10.100 Because if it was, then it was the Spirit, it 00:13:10.100 --> 00:13:13.100 was the Lord, it was a good thing. He was talking about different ways that 00:13:39.299 --> 00:13:42.259 he came to know the Lord and also different ways 00:13:42.259 --> 00:13:46.240 that he approached the Lord and When my husband 00:13:46.240 --> 00:13:48.740 was talking about he said, you know Sometimes 00:13:48.740 --> 00:13:51.259 when I hear those words it sort of feels like 00:13:51.259 --> 00:13:52.919 and I'm putting these words into his mouth It 00:13:52.919 --> 00:13:55.019 was I'm gonna give you the crux of it how you 00:13:55.019 --> 00:13:57.159 felt about yes Kind of what my husband was saying 00:13:57.159 --> 00:13:59.120 was I feel like when I hear these words I feel 00:13:59.120 --> 00:14:01.120 like he that someone's putting the Savior in 00:14:01.120 --> 00:14:03.460 a box and that this is the way he is and it's 00:14:03.460 --> 00:14:05.879 fixed And I was like that's so interesting that 00:14:05.879 --> 00:14:09.570 you're saying that And then I had, as we were 00:14:09.570 --> 00:14:12.429 talking, I felt like the spirit taught me something 00:14:12.429 --> 00:14:14.629 or brought something to my remembrance of why 00:14:14.629 --> 00:14:19.190 I love conference. This is why I love it. So this is 00:14:46.789 --> 00:14:51.419 the part I love. um every single person that 00:14:51.419 --> 00:14:54.919 speaks in conference um it's kind of like they 00:14:54.919 --> 00:14:59.240 are bringing their own views their own lenses 00:14:59.240 --> 00:15:02.639 their experience their profession the experiences 00:15:02.639 --> 00:15:06.740 they've had with um They're usually pretty intense 00:15:06.740 --> 00:15:09.480 or pretty memorable experiences that they've 00:15:09.480 --> 00:15:11.940 had on how they've come to know Jesus Christ 00:15:11.940 --> 00:15:15.419 and His divinity as our savior, as our redeemer, 00:15:15.519 --> 00:15:17.779 as our healer. And so this is kind of what it 00:15:17.779 --> 00:15:20.179 was like to me.
