Well, 00:00:51.429 --> 00:00:53.929 the Holy Spirit dwells in us. In 1 Corinthians 00:00:53.929 --> 00:00:57.090 6 19, it says, our bodies are the temple of the 00:00:57.090 --> 00:00:59.810 Holy Spirit. So therefore, He's there. Now, most 00:00:59.810 --> 00:01:01.869 of you who've heard me speak on this, you already 00:01:01.869 --> 00:01:03.969 know that, but there are always new listeners. 00:01:04.170 --> 00:01:05.969 So from time to time, we need to get down to 00:01:05.969 --> 00:01:08.810 some of the real basics to be sure everyone understands 00:01:08.810 --> 00:01:12.069 that we're all on the same page. the Holy Spirit, 00:01:12.329 --> 00:01:15.750 we need to be careful in our thought life by 00:01:15.750 --> 00:01:19.459 speaking the truth, by living in peace. by being 00:01:19.459 --> 00:01:22.459 joyful. These are the things I believe that 00:02:04.290 --> 00:02:07.069 trigger the Holy Spirit to move in our lives 00:02:07.069 --> 00:02:10.710 and to have a greater experience with Him each 00:02:10.710 --> 00:02:14.590 and every day. Now what is the spiritual condition 00:02:14.590 --> 00:02:16.770 of our thoughts? We might want to examine that 00:02:16.770 --> 00:02:19.300 for a second. Just just take a second here and 00:02:19.300 --> 00:02:21.939 think maybe you might put this on pause or something 00:02:21.939 --> 00:02:24.759 and just think about what is your thought life 00:02:24.759 --> 00:02:27.199 like? What do you think about it? Is it wrapped 00:02:27.199 --> 00:02:29.439 up with only things that are dealing with you 00:02:29.439 --> 00:02:31.740 and maybe not with other people? Is it something 00:02:31.740 --> 00:02:33.979 that you think about all the time? Is it how 00:02:33.979 --> 00:02:37.580 to be entertained? Or do you think a lot about 00:02:37.580 --> 00:02:40.360 how to help other people? Whatever your thought 00:02:40.360 --> 00:02:42.539 life is, it's going to have a great impact on 00:02:42.539 --> 00:02:45.159 the relationship that we have with the Holy Spirit 00:02:45.159 --> 00:02:48.439 and how we can learn to experience the Holy Spirit 00:02:48.439 --> 00:02:50.680 in a greater way than we can even imagine, even 00:02:50.680 --> 00:02:53.400 think. You see, we experience the Holy Spirit 00:02:53.400 --> 00:02:56.419 by making Him comfortable with our thoughts. 00:02:56.740 --> 00:02:58.699 One thing we certainly don't want to do is to 00:02:58.699 --> 00:03:00.539 grieve the Holy Spirit. In Ephesians chapter 00:03:00.539 --> 00:03:03.080 4 and verse 30, it says, don't grieve the Holy 00:03:03.080 --> 00:03:05.780 Spirit. So that means He must have feelings. 00:03:05.900 --> 00:03:08.439 He must have emotions. He must have those things 00:03:08.439 --> 00:03:12.300 that mean a lot to us as human beings. It means 00:03:12.300 --> 00:03:15.599 a lot to Him. Whatever concerns us, we need to 00:03:15.599 --> 00:03:18.060 understand it concerns God. You know, that's a pretty heavy 00:03:53.460 --> 00:03:56.060 statement in Ephesians chapter 4 and verse 30. 00:03:56.259 --> 00:04:00.900 How do we grieve him? And we grieve him by being 00:04:00.900 --> 00:04:04.400 unpleasant, to be unkind, to be sarcastic with 00:04:04.400 --> 00:04:07.020 people, to have pride in our life, to have those 00:04:07.020 --> 00:04:09.400 things that are opposite of what the Holy Spirit 00:04:09.400 --> 00:04:12.000 brings. So we want to get that stuff out and 00:04:12.000 --> 00:04:14.080 move it out, and we can, but we can only do it 00:04:14.080 --> 00:04:15.719 through the strength and the power of the Holy 00:04:15.719 --> 00:04:18.060 Spirit. Bible says, greater is he that is in 00:04:18.060 --> 00:04:20.699 us than he who is in the world. He who is in 00:04:20.699 --> 00:04:23.120 us is the Holy Spirit. He who is in the world 00:04:23.120 --> 00:04:26.060 is the devil himself. And so we want to... please 00:04:26.060 --> 00:04:28.540 the Holy Spirit. We want to make him happy and 00:04:28.540 --> 00:04:31.579 comfortable being in our side of us and dwelling 00:04:31.579 --> 00:04:34.639 in us and therefore we will have a greater experience 00:04:34.639 --> 00:04:37.240 than what we might thought was possible. Now 00:04:37.240 --> 00:04:39.819 there are many ways to experience the Holy Spirit. 00:04:39.980 --> 00:04:43.319 He is interested in every area of our life. He's 00:04:43.319 --> 00:04:45.000 interested in our health, our physical health, 00:04:45.060 --> 00:04:47.160 our emotional health. He's interested in our 00:04:47.160 --> 00:04:49.579 finances, in our family relationships, in our 00:04:49.579 --> 00:04:52.100 marriage. Every part of our life the Holy Spirit 00:04:52.100 --> 00:04:55.370 is interested in and wants to have some action 00:04:55.370 --> 00:04:57.889 with us in every single part of everything that 00:04:57.889 --> 00:05:01.220 we do. He is the Comforter. That means He's there 00:05:01.220 --> 00:05:04.240 to bring that comfort when we need it. If you 00:05:04.240 --> 00:05:06.819 have someone pass in your life, the Holy Spirit 00:05:06.819 --> 00:05:08.660 then can bring comfort to you. When you're going 00:05:08.660 --> 00:05:10.939 through a challenge or a difficult time, a difficult 00:05:10.939 --> 00:05:13.980 circumstance, He can bring comfort to you. He's 00:05:13.980 --> 00:05:15.980 our advocate. That means He's on our side. He 00:05:15.980 --> 00:05:18.680 defends us. He's the one... Now obviously, if 00:05:18.680 --> 00:05:20.779 we do something wrong or we say something wrong, 00:05:20.980 --> 00:05:22.860 then He's going to chastise us, which is what 00:05:22.860 --> 00:05:25.519 He's supposed to do, because He's God. And God 00:05:25.519 --> 00:05:28.680 doesn't just constantly dwell in... happiness 00:05:28.680 --> 00:05:31.620 and joy and peace for people who then are frustrated 00:05:31.620 --> 00:05:34.680 and angry and upset and bitter and unforgiving 00:05:34.680 --> 00:05:37.319 people God can't deal with those people and his 00:05:37.319 --> 00:05:40.379 spirit can't deal with those people so the Advocate 00:05:40.379 --> 00:05:43.139 the Holy Spirit the Comforter the Holy Spirit 00:05:43.139 --> 00:05:46.240 is there to comfort us but also then to be on 00:05:46.240 --> 00:05:48.740 our side if we are lining up according to the 00:05:48.740 --> 00:05:51.319 will of God if we're following the Word of God 00:05:51.319 --> 00:05:54.089 the instructions, if you will, the manual that 00:05:54.089 --> 00:05:56.949 God made for us to live our life. If we follow 00:05:56.949 --> 00:05:59.129 that, that's the Word of God, then we can have 00:05:59.129 --> 00:06:00.870 the right relationship with the Holy Spirit. 00:06:01.189 --> 00:06:04.389 We need to let the Holy Spirit comfort us. That 00:06:04.389 --> 00:06:07.110 means we got to yield to Him. We need to surrender 00:06:07.110 --> 00:06:08.910 to Him. We can't just say, well, I'll do it my 00:06:08.910 --> 00:06:10.769 way. My way is the best way and I'll just do 00:06:10.769 --> 00:06:13.230 it this way and whatever. If we do that, we are 00:06:13.230 --> 00:06:15.430 then robbing the Holy Spirit of the opportunity 00:06:15.430 --> 00:06:17.629 to give comfort and direction for our lives. 00:06:17.730 --> 00:06:20.209 And we need to let Him protect us. That means 00:06:20.209 --> 00:06:23.199 don't put ourselves in situations like for example 00:06:23.199 --> 00:06:25.519 a Christian you know shouldn't not necessarily 00:06:25.519 --> 00:06:27.839 run around constantly with people who are angry 00:06:27.839 --> 00:06:30.860 and upset and bitter and swearing and angry people 00:06:30.860 --> 00:06:32.959 that that hate God and all that if you're around 00:06:32.959 --> 00:06:35.939 those people it's gonna wear on you and the Holy 00:06:35.939 --> 00:06:38.139 Spirit then can he can help us in the middle 00:06:38.139 --> 00:06:41.779 of that Jesus obviously he interacted with good 00:06:41.779 --> 00:06:44.860 people and bad people but then that's Jesus now 00:06:44.860 --> 00:06:48.360 we as individuals need to guard ourselves around 00:06:48.360 --> 00:06:50.379 the company that we keep, the people that we 00:06:50.379 --> 00:06:52.540 spend time with can have a great impact on us. 00:06:52.819 --> 00:06:54.579 Let me give you an example of that. For many 00:06:54.579 --> 00:06:57.300 years, my wife and I went to church together, 00:06:57.459 --> 00:06:59.139 and we still do, of course, but for many years 00:06:59.139 --> 00:07:01.220 we went together and we'd meet people and friends, 00:07:01.399 --> 00:07:03.339 and there was one particular fellow that I got 00:07:03.339 --> 00:07:05.980 to know, and he was kind of a negative guy, and 00:07:05.980 --> 00:07:08.279 kind of a guy that was always finding the negative 00:07:08.279 --> 00:07:10.220 side of things. He was a nice fellow in a lot 00:07:10.220 --> 00:07:12.639 of ways, but he just seemed to always drift towards 00:07:12.639 --> 00:07:14.959 what's wrong, what's wrong, what's wrong, rather 00:07:14.959 --> 00:07:18.519 than what's right with things. My wife could 00:07:18.519 --> 00:07:21.199 always tell when I had been around him. I'd come 00:07:21.199 --> 00:07:23.519 home from work, and maybe I'd had lunch with 00:07:23.519 --> 00:07:26.160 him, and I might make some comment or say something. 00:07:26.259 --> 00:07:28.439 She'd say, oh, you've been around this gentleman. 00:07:28.439 --> 00:07:30.720 I won't say his name. I could tell you've been 00:07:30.720 --> 00:07:32.779 with, what's his name? And let's say his name 00:07:32.779 --> 00:07:35.360 is Mike. It's not, but let's say his name is 00:07:35.360 --> 00:07:37.339 Mike. She'd say, I see you've been around with 00:07:37.339 --> 00:07:39.699 Mike. Evidently, you know, I can tell that you're 00:07:39.699 --> 00:07:42.139 just a little short with things, maybe, and you 00:07:42.139 --> 00:07:44.040 seem to be bothered about some things, and you 00:07:44.040 --> 00:07:46.540 seem to be a little cantankerous. And I would 00:07:46.540 --> 00:07:48.740 tell her, really? Is that obvious? And she'd 00:07:48.740 --> 00:07:51.079 say, no question about it. Well, that's what 00:07:51.079 --> 00:07:53.240 I'm referring to. We've got to avoid being around 00:07:53.240 --> 00:07:56.540 people like that, who draw from us and draw us 00:07:56.540 --> 00:07:59.680 into their way of thinking. And the Holy Spirit 00:07:59.680 --> 00:08:01.860 will help us with that. We grieve the Holy Spirit 00:08:01.860 --> 00:08:04.100 when we put ourselves in the presence of negative, 00:08:04.379 --> 00:08:07.629 hateful people, and angry people. but we certainly 00:08:07.629 --> 00:08:09.889 don't grieve him. We make him pleased and happy 00:08:09.889 --> 00:08:12.350 with us when we're around people who are filled 00:08:12.350 --> 00:08:15.290 with joy and filled with the love of God in their 00:08:15.290 --> 00:08:17.629 life. So anyways, enough said about that, but 00:08:17.629 --> 00:08:19.470 I just think it's important we need to understand 00:08:19.470 --> 00:08:22.189 that we need to experience the Holy Spirit, but 00:08:22.189 --> 00:08:24.189 the people we spend time with will have a great 00:08:24.189 --> 00:08:27.189 impact on that. To experience the Holy Spirit, 00:08:27.410 --> 00:08:31.930 we must expect and anticipate with expectations 00:08:31.930 --> 00:08:35.000 good things are going to happen. to experience 00:08:35.000 --> 00:08:37.120 the Holy Spirit, we need to believe in the scripture 00:08:37.120 --> 00:08:39.399 where Paul, the apostle Paul says that he calls 00:08:39.399 --> 00:08:41.340 forth those things that are not as though that 00:08:41.340 --> 00:08:43.279 they are. Instead of looking at the negative 00:08:43.279 --> 00:08:45.659 things, the things that are not, Paul looks upon 00:08:45.659 --> 00:08:47.700 those things that are. Paul likes to look at 00:08:47.700 --> 00:08:49.840 the answer to prayer rather than the challenge 00:08:49.840 --> 00:08:51.799 we're going through. Now Paul prayed for people, 00:08:51.980 --> 00:08:54.039 he anointed people, he had the gift of healing, 00:08:54.379 --> 00:08:56.120 and people were healed, and all these wonderful 00:08:56.120 --> 00:08:58.779 things, but he knew that he knew that he knew 00:08:58.779 --> 00:09:02.240 that we needed to expect, to anticipate that 00:09:02.240 --> 00:09:05.279 God's Word was true, it was real, and that Jesus 00:09:05.279 --> 00:09:07.460 the Healer would show up, and that the Holy Spirit 00:09:07.460 --> 00:09:09.419 would be there to help each and every one of 00:09:09.419 --> 00:09:13.279 us. So we must expect and anticipate. good things 00:09:13.279 --> 00:09:16.019 are going to happen to us. And I think that was 00:09:16.019 --> 00:09:18.179 an evangelist one time, that was his slogan on 00:09:18.179 --> 00:09:21.120 TV. As soon as he'd come on the TV, he'd say, 00:09:21.279 --> 00:09:23.679 something good is going to happen to you today. 00:09:23.919 --> 00:09:26.159 And what a wonderful, positive way that is, and 00:09:26.159 --> 00:09:29.159 to influence and help the Holy Spirit, and to 00:09:29.159 --> 00:09:31.440 help us have a better experience with the Holy 00:09:31.440 --> 00:09:34.059 Spirit. Now, to experience the Holy Spirit, we 00:09:34.059 --> 00:09:37.539 must encourage Him. Now you say, how in the world 00:09:37.539 --> 00:09:41.090 do I encourage? The Holy Spirit. Well, we need 00:09:41.090 --> 00:09:43.750 to think good thoughts. We need to think about 00:09:43.750 --> 00:09:46.590 what he provides. Love, joy, peace, patience, 00:09:46.809 --> 00:09:49.710 goodness, kindness, gentleness. When we... Demonstrate 00:09:49.710 --> 00:09:52.750 love and joy and peace and goodness and kindness 00:09:52.750 --> 00:09:55.049 and gentleness and faithfulness and self -control. 00:09:55.090 --> 00:09:57.149 When those things are operating in our life, 00:09:57.250 --> 00:10:00.049 then we are encouraging the Holy Spirit. If you can 00:10:03.889 --> 00:10:06.629 grieve Him, you can also encourage Him. And I 00:10:06.629 --> 00:10:08.929 believe in that. I think we can do that. To experience 00:10:08.929 --> 00:10:11.690 the Holy Spirit, we must delight ourselves in 00:10:11.690 --> 00:10:14.450 Him. The Word of God tells us if we delight ourselves 00:10:14.450 --> 00:10:17.149 in the Lord, then He'll give us the desires of 00:10:17.149 --> 00:10:19.259 our heart. On the other hand, the Word of God 00:10:19.259 --> 00:10:20.980 is basically saying there that if you delight 00:10:20.980 --> 00:10:23.120 yourself in your desires, things aren't going 00:10:23.120 --> 00:10:25.240 to work out well. But Scripture says, delight 00:10:25.240 --> 00:10:27.659 yourself in the Lord, and then God, the Lord, 00:10:27.720 --> 00:10:30.559 will then give you those things. All these things 00:10:30.559 --> 00:10:32.940 will come to you. The Bible says to seek ye first 00:10:32.940 --> 00:10:35.000 the kingdom of God in his righteousness, and 00:10:35.000 --> 00:10:37.000 then all these things shall be added unto you. 00:10:37.259 --> 00:10:40.230 This is the way we experience the Holy Spirit, 00:10:40.629 --> 00:10:43.250 seeking God, delighting ourselves in God, and 00:10:43.250 --> 00:10:45.710 the Holy Spirit will operate with that, work 00:10:45.710 --> 00:10:48.169 with that, and it will increase our relationship 00:10:48.169 --> 00:10:50.250 with the Holy Spirit and we'll experience Him 00:10:50.250 --> 00:10:52.889 in a greater way than we thought was even possible. 00:10:53.190 --> 00:10:54.529 Matter of fact, let me read that scripture to 00:10:54.529 --> 00:10:57.990 you that I just quoted. It's in Psalms. chapter 00:10:57.990 --> 00:11:01.429 37 verse 4. Delight yourself in the Lord and 00:11:01.429 --> 00:11:04.970 he will give you the desires of your heart. So 00:11:04.970 --> 00:11:07.129 maybe somebody needs to know where that particular 00:11:07.129 --> 00:11:09.210 scripture is, so I figured I'd better just go 00:11:09.210 --> 00:11:11.190 ahead and read that to you. Let's continue on 00:11:11.190 --> 00:11:13.840 now. To experience the Holy Spirit, we need to 00:11:13.840 --> 00:11:16.879 ask Him for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Yes, 00:11:16.879 --> 00:11:19.200 you can. You can ask Him for the gifts of the 00:11:19.200 --> 00:11:21.080 Spirit. You can ask the Holy Spirit for the fruit 00:11:21.080 --> 00:11:23.080 of the Spirit. You can ask the Holy Spirit to 00:11:23.080 --> 00:11:26.120 baptize you with the Holy Spirit to receive your 00:11:26.120 --> 00:11:28.279 heavenly language that you can pray in the Spirit. 00:11:28.399 --> 00:11:29.820 And when you're praying in the Spirit, you're 00:11:29.820 --> 00:11:32.500 praying the divine will of God. The gift of tongues and 00:11:39.559 --> 00:11:41.879 interpretation is a gift from the Holy Spirit 00:11:41.879 --> 00:11:44.500 to help us with a group. But the baptism of the 00:11:44.500 --> 00:11:46.509 Holy Spirit where we have our prayer language 00:11:46.509 --> 00:11:48.750 where we have this time where we don't know how 00:11:48.750 --> 00:11:50.529 to pray and don't know what to pray about and 00:11:50.529 --> 00:11:52.370 we can get along with the Lord and be meditating 00:11:52.370 --> 00:11:54.009 on the things of God and reading the Word of 00:11:54.009 --> 00:11:56.570 God and the Spirit of God can come out upon us 00:11:56.570 --> 00:11:58.610 and then we start praying this heavenly language. 00:11:58.889 --> 00:12:01.350 You don't need to know what the words are because 00:12:01.350 --> 00:12:04.950 those words are the divine will of God. So I 00:12:04.950 --> 00:12:07.049 believe we experience the Holy Spirit if we ask 00:12:07.049 --> 00:12:09.789 Him for and receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. 00:12:09.919 --> 00:12:12.200 Now, let me give you the story. I probably have 00:12:12.200 --> 00:12:14.500 given it to you in the past on a prior podcast, 00:12:14.639 --> 00:12:17.659 but it's always a good story about my experience 00:12:17.659 --> 00:12:20.740 being baptized in the Holy Spirit. My wife and 00:12:20.740 --> 00:12:23.200 I got saved. We both were found in Jesus Christ, 00:12:23.279 --> 00:12:25.100 our Lord and Savior. I was a few months after 00:12:25.100 --> 00:12:28.320 her. I was a little slower than she was in turning 00:12:28.320 --> 00:12:30.799 her life over to the Lord. But after she got 00:12:30.799 --> 00:12:33.659 saved, then she desired to have the baptism of 00:12:33.659 --> 00:12:35.799 the Holy Spirit. Whatever 00:13:17.340 --> 00:13:19.440 you have for me, whatever you desire for me to 00:13:19.440 --> 00:13:21.879 have in my life, I want it. My wife was filled with 00:14:40.600 --> 00:14:42.700 the Holy Spirit with her heavenly prayer language 00:14:42.700 --> 00:14:44.799 while she was driving down the freeway, just 00:14:44.799 --> 00:14:46.720 listening to Christian music. And as she's driving 00:14:46.720 --> 00:14:48.399 down the freeway, our little four -year -old 00:14:48.399 --> 00:14:50.639 son was sitting beside her and she started praying 00:14:50.639 --> 00:14:52.340 in the Spirit. And she said, when she started 00:14:52.340 --> 00:14:53.779 praying the Spirit, all of a sudden she thought 00:14:53.779 --> 00:14:56.120 her son, our son is sitting beside her and he's 00:14:56.120 --> 00:14:58.220 looking at her and his His eyes are wide open, 00:14:58.379 --> 00:15:01.539 his mouth's kind of open, and she said, Ed, are 00:15:01.539 --> 00:15:04.340 you okay? And he says, oh yes, Mommy. He says, 00:15:04.460 --> 00:15:08.440 I know it's the Holy Spirit. He's all over you. 00:15:08.740 --> 00:15:12.820 It's Jesus. And matter of fact, 00:15:23.820 --> 00:15:25.600 some of you who've been baptized in the Holy 00:15:25.600 --> 00:15:27.419 Spirit and you have this beautiful prayer language, 00:15:27.639 --> 00:15:29.740 you should let someone else know how it happened 00:15:29.740 --> 00:15:32.919 and why you desired it and why and what it has 00:15:32.919 --> 00:15:35.600 done for your relationship with the Holy Spirit 00:15:35.600 --> 00:15:37.799 and experiencing the Holy Spirit in a greater 00:15:37.799 --> 00:15:40.720 way. Now experience the Holy Spirit, experiencing 00:15:40.720 --> 00:15:44.799 Him is God's will for us. Amen? It is. It's God's 00:15:44.799 --> 00:15:47.600 will for us. Jesus said in Acts chapter 1 verse 00:15:47.600 --> 00:15:51.600 5, be baptized in the Holy Spirit. The Apostle 00:15:51.600 --> 00:15:54.360 Paul wrote in Galatians 5 16 in the New Living 00:15:54.360 --> 00:15:57.460 Translation. So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide 00:15:57.460 --> 00:16:00.159 your lives. Then you won't be doing what your 00:16:00.159 --> 00:16:02.820 sinful nature craves. So the Apostle Paul talked 00:16:02.820 --> 00:16:05.179 about it. Jesus talked about living in the Spirit, 00:16:05.340 --> 00:16:08.940 walking in the Spirit, and experiencing a greater 00:16:08.940 --> 00:16:12.799 depth of our relationship with the Holy Spirit. 00:16:13.100 --> 00:16:15.559 To experience the Holy Spirit daily, we need 00:16:15.559 --> 00:16:18.200 to seek Him daily. He's the 00:17:42.900 --> 00:17:45.640 one that gives the power gifts according to whom 00:17:45.640 --> 00:17:49.220 He chooses and when He chooses. And so you'll 00:17:49.220 --> 00:17:51.839 find that in 1 Corinthians chapter 12. So with 00:17:51.839 --> 00:17:54.019 that, we need to experience the Holy Spirit by 00:17:54.019 --> 00:17:56.640 seeking Him. You know, in the world today, there's 00:17:56.640 --> 00:17:58.740 a lot of stuff going on, a lot of confusion, 00:17:58.960 --> 00:18:01.339 a lot of dissension, a lot of political parties 00:18:01.339 --> 00:18:03.519 fighting with each other. There's a lot of sickness 00:18:03.519 --> 00:18:06.400 and disease, just so much turmoil going on in 00:18:06.400 --> 00:18:09.079 the country today. And as Christians, as followers 00:18:09.079 --> 00:18:11.740 of the Lord Jesus Christ, we need to rely upon 00:18:11.740 --> 00:18:14.319 the comforting strength of the Holy Spirit. And 00:18:14.319 --> 00:18:16.740 we've got to find it somewhere. And the best 00:18:16.740 --> 00:18:19.700 way I know of finding it is through prayer and 00:18:19.700 --> 00:18:21.759 seeking the Lord and reading the Word of God. 00:18:21.799 --> 00:18:24.463 Paul wrote about this in 2 Corinthians chapter... 00:18:24.460 --> 00:18:27.519 1 verses 3 and 4 and when he wrote about this 00:18:27.519 --> 00:18:30.240 he's given us a definition an explanation of 00:18:30.240 --> 00:18:33.160 how to receive comfort in times of difficulties 00:18:33.160 --> 00:18:36.279 and trials listen to these words blessed be the 00:18:36.279 --> 00:18:39.279 God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ the Father 00:18:39.279 --> 00:18:42.420 of mercies and the God of all comfort who comforts 00:18:42.420 --> 00:18:46.160 us in all listen that all our tribulation that 00:18:46.160 --> 00:18:49.440 we may be able to comfort those who are in any 00:18:49.440 --> 00:18:53.099 trouble with the comfort which we ourselves are 00:18:53.099 --> 00:18:56.180 comforted by God. Listen to that. With the comfort 00:18:56.180 --> 00:19:00.380 with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 00:19:00.819 --> 00:19:03.720 So God's Word offers comfort. The Holy Spirit 00:19:03.720 --> 00:19:06.519 is comfort. Yesterday, I went to visit someone 00:19:06.519 --> 00:19:08.900 in a hospital, a good friend, and he's really 00:19:08.900 --> 00:19:10.759 going through a lot of physical problems, an 00:19:10.759 --> 00:19:12.920 extremely challenging life he's having right 00:19:12.920 --> 00:19:15.420 now with physical issues. Prior to that, he wasn't 00:19:15.420 --> 00:19:17.579 unhealthy, he was doing really well, but he started 00:19:17.579 --> 00:19:20.279 having physical issues, and started having strokes, 00:19:20.640 --> 00:19:22.579 and started having seizures, and all types of 00:19:22.579 --> 00:19:24.859 things, and it just kind of continued on. And 00:19:24.859 --> 00:19:26.380 as I was with him, talking with him, he said, 00:19:26.400 --> 00:19:28.539 you know, this is difficult, I've never experienced 00:19:28.539 --> 00:19:30.440 anything like this. And I said, well, that's 00:19:30.440 --> 00:19:32.380 when we need to call upon the Lord, call upon 00:19:32.380 --> 00:19:34.819 the Holy Spirit to bring comfort. And I said, 00:19:34.920 --> 00:19:36.779 because Jesus said that he would send the Comforter. 00:19:36.859 --> 00:19:38.980 And he's here. He's in this room right now. He's 00:19:38.980 --> 00:19:40.980 living inside of you, I was telling the fella. 00:19:41.140 --> 00:19:43.980 And when we prayed, I asked the Holy Spirit to 00:19:43.980 --> 00:19:46.599 come and give comfort and give peace and give 00:19:46.599 --> 00:19:48.920 him the peace of God that passes all understanding. 00:19:49.039 --> 00:19:51.279 And that peace would guard his heart and his 00:19:51.279 --> 00:19:54.160 mind in Christ Jesus. The 00:19:58.460 --> 00:20:00.680 devil's trying to confuse us and put doubt in 00:20:00.680 --> 00:20:03.869 our mind and make us feel uncomfortable. We're 00:20:03.869 --> 00:20:06.029 gonna die, or we're gonna lose this situation, 00:20:06.170 --> 00:20:07.849 or we're gonna lose this battle, or whatever, 00:20:07.990 --> 00:20:09.869 we're gonna lose our finances, our marriage is 00:20:09.869 --> 00:20:11.589 gonna go under, or whatever it might be. The 00:20:11.589 --> 00:20:14.210 devil's always on that side, but the Holy Spirit's 00:20:14.210 --> 00:20:16.349 on the other side. He's saying, no, I'm a very 00:20:16.349 --> 00:20:18.309 present help in times of trouble. I'll never 00:20:18.309 --> 00:20:20.569 leave you, and I'll never forsake you. In the 00:20:20.569 --> 00:20:22.650 words of Paul that said, blessed be the God and 00:20:22.650 --> 00:20:24.430 Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of 00:20:24.430 --> 00:20:28.299 mercies, and the God of all. Comfort. Those scriptures 00:20:28.299 --> 00:20:30.900 bring forth, I believe, an anointing from the 00:20:30.900 --> 00:20:33.220 Holy Spirit in us to deal with all the challenges 00:20:33.220 --> 00:20:35.720 we face. My friend and I was talking with him 00:20:35.720 --> 00:20:37.799 and we were praying together. I could just see 00:20:37.799 --> 00:20:39.880 a change in his face. You could just see that 00:20:39.880 --> 00:20:42.059 he was, that a lot of the trouble was being removed. 00:20:42.140 --> 00:20:43.900 Oh, he still had his physical problems and he's 00:20:43.900 --> 00:20:45.579 still going through the challenges and he's probably 00:20:45.579 --> 00:20:47.619 going to be in the hospital for quite a while 00:20:47.619 --> 00:20:51.160 yet. But bottom line, he started to feel that 00:20:51.160 --> 00:20:53.740 comfort. It wasn't from me, it was from the Holy 00:20:53.740 --> 00:20:56.250 Spirit. It was from speaking the word of God 00:20:56.250 --> 00:20:58.950 in praying and calling upon the Holy Spirit to 00:20:58.950 --> 00:21:01.779 help and give that comfort. We need to know in 00:21:01.779 --> 00:21:04.140 our walk with God and trying to experience the 00:21:04.140 --> 00:21:06.900 Holy Spirit that we need to allow the Holy Spirit 00:21:06.900 --> 00:21:10.460 to cover us, to overtake us, to surround us, 00:21:10.619 --> 00:21:14.720 to encapsulate us if you will, to be every part 00:21:14.720 --> 00:21:17.200 of what we have in our life. He needs to be there 00:21:17.200 --> 00:21:19.720 and we've got to surrender to him and yield to 00:21:19.720 --> 00:21:22.259 him and ask for him to come in because we need 00:21:22.259 --> 00:21:25.039 to experience the Holy Spirit in a greater way 00:21:25.039 --> 00:21:27.440 than ever before. Read about Him in the book of Acts and 00:21:36.309 --> 00:21:39.369 in chapters 1 and 2 and in 1st Corinthians chapter 00:21:39.369 --> 00:21:41.569 12. We need to understand that He lives in us 00:21:41.569 --> 00:21:44.109 right now, right where He is. When we speak on the Holy 00:21:56.819 --> 00:21:59.339 Spirit, you know, when I make a comment or I 00:21:59.339 --> 00:22:01.859 teach a class or I speak to a group, they want 00:22:01.859 --> 00:22:03.980 to hear about all the nine power gifts and they're 00:22:03.980 --> 00:22:06.480 wonderful. No wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, 00:22:07.000 --> 00:22:09.440 miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, tongues, 00:22:09.640 --> 00:22:11.619 interpretation of tongues, all those gifts they 00:22:11.619 --> 00:22:13.160 want to hear about. And that's wonderful and 00:22:13.160 --> 00:22:15.579 that's good. The power gifts are amazing and 00:22:15.579 --> 00:22:17.880 I've been blessed with several of them in my 00:22:17.880 --> 00:22:19.619 life, how the Holy Spirit Spirit has given me 00:22:19.619 --> 00:22:22.819 those at moments at certain times. But experience 00:22:22.819 --> 00:22:25.460 the Holy Spirit daily should be our priority, 00:22:25.940 --> 00:22:28.819 daily through his peace, daily through his comfort, 00:22:29.200 --> 00:22:31.299 daily with our interactions with him. We need 00:22:31.299 --> 00:22:34.279 to seek the giver of the gifts, not the gifts, 00:22:34.579 --> 00:22:37.160 as much as the giver of the gifts. That's God 00:22:37.160 --> 00:22:39.740 the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy 00:22:39.740 --> 00:22:42.910 Spirit. With that, I know that we can experience 00:22:42.910 --> 00:22:45.470 a greater walk with God. We can experience a 00:22:45.470 --> 00:22:47.630 closer relationship to the Holy Spirit, and He 00:22:47.630 --> 00:22:50.430 will manifest in our lives and make a radical 00:22:50.430 --> 00:22:52.470 change in everything that we do.
