First, we need to pray. Heavenly Father, 00:00:37.530 --> 00:00:39.670 thank you for your goodness, your love, and for 00:00:39.670 --> 00:00:41.549 your kindness. And of course, since the Holy Spirit 00:01:19.340 --> 00:01:22.519 is one of the triune God, God the Father, God 00:01:22.519 --> 00:01:24.879 the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, all three are 00:01:24.879 --> 00:01:27.959 one God, not multiple Gods. And the power of 00:01:27.959 --> 00:01:30.239 the Holy Spirit is that great that he actually 00:01:30.239 --> 00:01:34.180 participated in raising Jesus from his deathbed. 00:01:34.340 --> 00:01:38.100 The Holy Spirit will bring to us resurrection 00:01:38.100 --> 00:01:41.840 power and power from self and to know God's will 00:01:41.840 --> 00:01:44.459 and power to do things that we think are impossible 00:01:44.459 --> 00:01:46.879 and quite frankly many of those things are impossible 00:01:46.879 --> 00:01:49.159 without the help of God and the Holy Spirit. 00:01:49.459 --> 00:01:52.620 Romans chapter 8 verses 11 through 15 in the 00:01:52.620 --> 00:01:55.879 New International Version says this, and if the 00:01:55.879 --> 00:01:58.879 spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead, 00:01:59.099 --> 00:02:00.959 wait a minute, That's kind of interesting. I 00:02:00.959 --> 00:02:02.620 know when I said that at the beginning of this, 00:02:02.859 --> 00:02:05.219 the Holy Spirit participated in raising Jesus 00:02:05.219 --> 00:02:06.659 from the dead, there's some people out there 00:02:06.659 --> 00:02:08.159 that are probably saying, wait a minute, how 00:02:08.159 --> 00:02:10.599 can that be? Well, that's why we jump right into 00:02:10.599 --> 00:02:12.620 this particular scripture. I'll read that word 00:02:12.620 --> 00:02:15.680 once again. It's in Romans 8, chapter 11, New 00:02:15.680 --> 00:02:18.460 International Version. And if the Spirit of him 00:02:18.460 --> 00:02:21.780 who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, 00:02:21.919 --> 00:02:24.520 that's the Holy Spirit Church, he who raised 00:02:24.520 --> 00:02:28.039 Christ from the dead will also give life. to 00:02:28.039 --> 00:02:31.199 your mortal bodies because of His Spirit who 00:02:31.199 --> 00:02:34.439 lives in you. So isn't that a jam -packed scripture 00:02:34.439 --> 00:02:36.800 that talks about in dealing with understanding 00:02:36.800 --> 00:02:38.620 how to have more power from the Holy Spirit. 00:02:38.639 --> 00:02:41.060 You can't find greater power than the resurrection 00:02:41.060 --> 00:02:43.800 of Jesus Christ. In this scripture Paul is writing 00:02:43.800 --> 00:02:46.120 to the church in Rome and he's telling them the 00:02:46.120 --> 00:02:48.860 Holy Spirit has great power and he is the one 00:02:48.860 --> 00:02:52.180 who participated, as we say, in the raising of 00:02:52.180 --> 00:02:55.300 Jesus from the dead. And that power, that same 00:02:55.300 --> 00:02:58.129 power is living in each in every one of us today. 00:02:58.569 --> 00:03:00.550 So if we have that power in us, then we ought 00:03:00.550 --> 00:03:02.930 to be able to experience the great resurrection 00:03:02.930 --> 00:03:05.490 power of the Holy Spirit. Now everyone knows 00:03:05.490 --> 00:03:08.930 that Jesus had unlimited power while he served 00:03:08.930 --> 00:03:11.509 here on earth. Jesus, of course, he has unlimited 00:03:11.509 --> 00:03:14.349 power as he's in heaven now. Jesus knew when 00:03:14.349 --> 00:03:17.550 he was returning to the Father that his followers 00:03:17.550 --> 00:03:20.909 needed to have power. to continue to work, to 00:03:20.909 --> 00:03:24.169 continue the work, I should say, that Jesus started. 00:03:24.449 --> 00:03:27.729 So Jesus said there needs to be help for these 00:03:27.729 --> 00:03:30.909 disciples. They need to have someone to... bring 00:03:30.909 --> 00:03:32.849 them through each day and carry them through 00:03:32.849 --> 00:03:35.150 the challenges of life and deal with the issues 00:03:35.150 --> 00:03:36.789 they're going to face with just like the things 00:03:36.789 --> 00:03:39.050 that we have to face with today trials and the 00:03:39.050 --> 00:03:40.909 challenges that we are faced with Jesus knew 00:03:40.909 --> 00:03:42.870 that we had to have it but he knew at that time 00:03:42.870 --> 00:03:45.990 especially that his followers needed to hear 00:03:45.990 --> 00:03:48.550 his word needed to know what he had to say and 00:03:48.550 --> 00:03:50.849 he knew that the Holy Spirit would remind the 00:03:50.849 --> 00:03:54.590 disciples of the words of Jesus so there's something 00:03:54.590 --> 00:03:57.150 recorded in John chapter 14 and verse 2 in the 00:03:57.150 --> 00:03:59.509 New International Version that I think is very 00:03:59.509 --> 00:04:02.319 appropriate for this particular podcast very 00:04:02.319 --> 00:04:05.740 truly I tell you whoever believes in me will 00:04:05.740 --> 00:04:08.419 do the works I have been doing and they will 00:04:08.419 --> 00:04:11.620 do even greater things than these because I am 00:04:11.620 --> 00:04:14.099 going to the Father now these are obviously the 00:04:14.099 --> 00:04:16.199 words of the Lord Jesus Christ he's saying these 00:04:16.199 --> 00:04:18.480 words to give comfort and help and direction 00:04:18.480 --> 00:04:20.759 to his disciples he's also saying these words 00:04:20.759 --> 00:04:23.000 to give help comfort and direction for followers 00:04:23.000 --> 00:04:25.120 him of him today who will pick up the Word of 00:04:25.120 --> 00:04:28.439 God and read it and see that he had a plan a 00:04:28.439 --> 00:04:30.670 program in place where the Holy Spirit would 00:04:30.670 --> 00:04:33.529 come in and bring power more power of the Holy 00:04:33.529 --> 00:04:36.209 Spirit in the lives of his followers and so he 00:04:36.209 --> 00:04:38.769 basically is telling us that there is greater 00:04:38.769 --> 00:04:41.910 power more power to followers of the Lord Jesus 00:04:41.910 --> 00:04:44.009 Christ that the Holy Spirit has for each and 00:04:44.009 --> 00:04:46.149 every one of us that we can even imagine or think 00:04:46.149 --> 00:04:49.389 it's total unlimited power so we need to think 00:04:49.389 --> 00:04:51.149 about this personally we need to think about 00:04:51.149 --> 00:04:53.629 our relationship to the Lord our relationship 00:04:53.629 --> 00:04:55.829 to the Holy Spirit and our relationship to our 00:04:55.829 --> 00:04:57.790 other Christian followers and our relationship 00:04:57.790 --> 00:04:59.889 with the word of God. All of these are things 00:04:59.889 --> 00:05:02.550 that we need to have in our life to operate in 00:05:02.550 --> 00:05:05.110 full force in order to operate with more power 00:05:05.110 --> 00:05:07.949 from the Holy Spirit. Everyone knows that Jesus 00:05:07.949 --> 00:05:10.870 had unlimited power. We all know that. We all 00:05:10.870 --> 00:05:14.029 know that that unlimited power was exhibited 00:05:14.029 --> 00:05:15.970 throughout the time that he was on earth and 00:05:15.970 --> 00:05:18.569 now it continues to be exhibited through the 00:05:18.569 --> 00:05:20.750 Holy Spirit who Jesus left for each and every 00:05:20.750 --> 00:05:22.829 one of us to have that strength. Everyone knows 00:05:22.829 --> 00:05:26.110 that Jesus knew we needed help and we know that 00:05:26.110 --> 00:05:28.759 we need help but he was thinking about us and 00:05:28.759 --> 00:05:31.319 planning to help us and putting up a plan in 00:05:31.319 --> 00:05:33.959 action to give us more strength and more power 00:05:33.959 --> 00:05:37.600 in our walk with God. Jesus also was aware that 00:05:37.600 --> 00:05:41.379 his disciples would question how they could do 00:05:41.379 --> 00:05:44.459 greater things. When he said, I'm going to read 00:05:44.459 --> 00:05:46.579 this again to you in John chapter 14 and verse 00:05:46.579 --> 00:05:49.860 2. Very truly, I tell you, whoever believes in 00:05:49.860 --> 00:05:52.699 me will do the works I have been doing, and they 00:05:52.699 --> 00:05:55.579 will do even greater things, greater things, 00:05:55.579 --> 00:05:59.060 he says, than these. So, Jesus knew that. and 00:05:59.060 --> 00:06:01.860 he knew that they would be able to have that 00:06:01.860 --> 00:06:03.600 available to them, but that didn't mean that 00:06:03.600 --> 00:06:05.959 the disciples just all accepted it immediately 00:06:05.959 --> 00:06:07.759 and said, oh yeah, great, no problem, we got 00:06:07.759 --> 00:06:10.399 this. No, they were basically wondering, how 00:06:10.399 --> 00:06:12.839 in the world was this gonna happen? Jesus knew 00:06:12.839 --> 00:06:15.180 the disciples would question and would wonder 00:06:15.180 --> 00:06:17.740 and try to examine themselves and say, how in 00:06:17.740 --> 00:06:19.779 the world can we do greater things than what 00:06:19.779 --> 00:06:23.279 the Lord Jesus Christ did? In John chapter 14, 00:06:23.540 --> 00:06:27.339 Jesus was telling his disciples, keep my command. 00:06:28.079 --> 00:06:30.079 You know, a lot of time we want the promises 00:06:30.079 --> 00:06:32.079 of God, we want the blessings of God, but we 00:06:32.079 --> 00:06:34.920 don't live up to the conditions on the promises 00:06:34.920 --> 00:06:37.560 of God. And Jesus is instructing his disciples 00:06:37.560 --> 00:06:40.300 saying, keep my commands. Now, since we're reading 00:06:40.300 --> 00:06:43.019 it today, those instructions are for us, the 00:06:43.019 --> 00:06:44.939 followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. We're to 00:06:44.939 --> 00:06:47.819 keep his commands. And that's key, crucial to 00:06:47.819 --> 00:06:49.920 understand how we can have greater power through 00:06:49.920 --> 00:06:52.980 the Holy Spirit. We see in the words of Jesus 00:06:52.980 --> 00:06:55.699 that he's saying things like, I'm sending you 00:06:55.699 --> 00:06:57.629 help. I'm sending you another day help. with 00:06:57.629 --> 00:07:01.370 you. He lives in you and through his teachings 00:07:01.370 --> 00:07:04.350 throughout various books in the Bible and the 00:07:04.350 --> 00:07:07.230 teachings of the Apostle Paul, Jesus is telling 00:07:07.230 --> 00:07:10.550 us that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth 00:07:10.550 --> 00:07:13.490 and that he told his disciples that he would 00:07:13.490 --> 00:07:17.009 be in them and with them. Now all of these comments 00:07:17.009 --> 00:07:19.829 and all these words that Jesus was speaking and 00:07:19.829 --> 00:07:22.610 Paul is speaking about tells us that we are being 00:07:22.610 --> 00:07:25.370 built up to be the disciples of the Lord Jesus 00:07:25.370 --> 00:07:27.990 Christ and that we're built up to be disciples, 00:07:28.089 --> 00:07:29.889 that doesn't mean we're built up in ourselves, 00:07:30.009 --> 00:07:31.970 in our own wisdom, our knowledge, and our understanding 00:07:31.970 --> 00:07:33.949 knowing. What it means is that the Holy Spirit 00:07:33.949 --> 00:07:36.670 will build us up to a greater power, a greater 00:07:36.670 --> 00:07:39.129 level of anointing, a greater level of power 00:07:39.129 --> 00:07:42.689 that will live in us and help us to be the hand 00:07:42.689 --> 00:07:45.329 of Jesus extended is really what the Holy Spirit 00:07:45.329 --> 00:07:48.069 is doing for Christians. As a Christian for many 00:07:48.069 --> 00:07:49.949 years, I've read a lot of different people make 00:07:49.949 --> 00:07:51.990 a lot of comments about the Holy Spirit, about 00:07:51.990 --> 00:07:54.509 the anointing, and I love the word manifestation. 00:07:54.589 --> 00:07:57.180 When we hear the word the manifestation of the 00:07:57.180 --> 00:07:59.480 Holy Spirit. Well, it's the manifestation of 00:07:59.480 --> 00:08:02.420 the Holy Spirit that anointed Jesus for his ministry. 00:08:02.639 --> 00:08:05.120 Remember, when Jesus was baptized by John the 00:08:05.120 --> 00:08:06.980 Baptist, the dove came down, and that was the 00:08:06.980 --> 00:08:09.300 Holy Spirit come down and anointed him for his 00:08:09.300 --> 00:08:12.139 ministry here on earth. Well, see that same manifestation 00:08:12.139 --> 00:08:15.699 of the Holy Spirit to anoint Jesus anoints us 00:08:15.699 --> 00:08:18.379 with Holy Spirit power. Now, I want you to just 00:08:18.379 --> 00:08:20.199 take that in right now. I just want you to, whatever 00:08:20.199 --> 00:08:21.819 you're doing, unless you're riding a bike or 00:08:21.819 --> 00:08:23.319 driving a car, I don't want you to close your 00:08:23.319 --> 00:08:25.959 eyes, but just take a moment. listening in and 00:08:25.959 --> 00:08:28.300 close your eyes and invite the Holy Spirit to 00:08:28.300 --> 00:08:30.939 come and to manifest himself in you. That means 00:08:30.939 --> 00:08:33.960 to have him come forth with greater power and 00:08:33.960 --> 00:08:37.019 greater wisdom and greater direction and greater 00:08:37.019 --> 00:08:40.039 guidance and ask him to be manifested in your 00:08:40.039 --> 00:08:42.480 life in a greater way than ever before. Invite 00:08:42.480 --> 00:08:45.059 him in to do that and open up your heart and 00:08:45.059 --> 00:08:48.220 your mind to allow the Holy Spirit to manifest 00:08:48.220 --> 00:08:50.879 in you and do something greater than you've ever 00:08:50.879 --> 00:08:53.480 imagined before so that God would receive the 00:08:53.480 --> 00:08:55.620 glory and he she would receive all the honor 00:08:55.620 --> 00:08:58.480 and all the praise. You know, because of the 00:08:58.480 --> 00:09:01.139 Holy Spirit power that's in us. Now, once we 00:09:01.139 --> 00:09:03.519 become a Christian, as soon as we receive Jesus 00:09:03.519 --> 00:09:05.299 Christ as our Lord and Savior, the power of the 00:09:05.299 --> 00:09:07.220 Holy Spirit comes to dwell inside of us. Now, 00:09:07.240 --> 00:09:09.440 for a lot of us, I know for me for a while the 00:09:09.440 --> 00:09:11.200 Holy Spirit was there and His great power was 00:09:11.200 --> 00:09:12.960 there, but I didn't know how to call on Him. 00:09:12.960 --> 00:09:15.259 I didn't know how to ask Him to manifest. I didn't 00:09:15.259 --> 00:09:18.259 know how to ask Him to anoint, to move in a special 00:09:18.259 --> 00:09:20.700 way and to use me and to speak to me and help 00:09:20.700 --> 00:09:23.419 me. I just kind of did one day after another. 00:09:23.370 --> 00:09:26.110 So therefore it took time in reading the Word 00:09:26.110 --> 00:09:29.220 of God and understanding that... Jesus gave us 00:09:29.220 --> 00:09:31.240 the Holy Spirit so then he could lead us into 00:09:31.240 --> 00:09:34.279 a new level of our walk with him. And so that's 00:09:34.279 --> 00:09:36.159 what I think Christians need to do. A lot of 00:09:36.159 --> 00:09:38.279 us have the tendency, and I have in the past 00:09:38.279 --> 00:09:40.580 too, just simply sit back and wait for God to 00:09:40.580 --> 00:09:43.320 do things when in reality we are to reach out 00:09:43.320 --> 00:09:45.279 to the Holy Spirit. We're to reach out to the 00:09:45.279 --> 00:09:47.639 Word of God and read it and see what the Holy 00:09:47.639 --> 00:09:50.500 Spirit is telling us to do and ask him to work 00:09:50.500 --> 00:09:53.879 in us and to use us for God's glory and to reach 00:09:53.879 --> 00:09:56.710 out and touch. our life and the lives of those 00:09:56.710 --> 00:09:58.929 that we're in contact with. You see, I was born 00:09:58.929 --> 00:10:01.409 a sinner, we all are, and I lived most of my 00:10:01.409 --> 00:10:03.950 life, the beginning of my life as someone not 00:10:03.950 --> 00:10:06.549 serving God. I grew up, went to high school, 00:10:06.690 --> 00:10:09.590 grade school, dated, got married, wound up in 00:10:09.590 --> 00:10:11.690 the army, wound up going to the military, going 00:10:11.690 --> 00:10:14.029 to Vietnam and serving in that war and coming 00:10:14.029 --> 00:10:16.590 back and spending several more years later. And 00:10:16.590 --> 00:10:19.470 all of a sudden I became a follower of Lord Jesus 00:10:19.470 --> 00:10:22.490 Christ because I finally yielded and turned my 00:10:22.490 --> 00:10:24.879 life over to Him and asked the Holy Spirit to 00:10:24.879 --> 00:10:27.500 come in and to fill me and take over my life, 00:10:27.580 --> 00:10:29.740 that I would surrender my will and that God would 00:10:29.740 --> 00:10:33.480 come in and be Lord and Savior of my life. When 00:10:33.480 --> 00:10:36.700 that took place, then I had to understand that 00:10:36.700 --> 00:10:38.960 I didn't deserve that. That's something that 00:10:38.960 --> 00:10:41.360 Christ did for me. He died on the cross and gave 00:10:41.360 --> 00:10:44.279 his life for me so that I could receive the power 00:10:44.279 --> 00:10:47.220 of the Holy Spirit that would be left by him 00:10:47.220 --> 00:10:49.639 to the disciples who was now carried through 00:10:49.639 --> 00:10:51.919 to all of those followers of the Lord Jesus Christ 00:10:51.919 --> 00:10:54.350 who received Jesus. they receive the power of 00:10:54.350 --> 00:10:56.970 the Holy Spirit, receive an anointing to do great 00:10:56.970 --> 00:10:59.789 things, and they receive more power than they 00:10:59.789 --> 00:11:02.289 can even imagine or even think. They receive 00:11:02.289 --> 00:11:04.230 comfort greater than they ever thought. They 00:11:04.230 --> 00:11:07.490 receive peace and love and joy and kindness and 00:11:07.490 --> 00:11:10.190 gentleness and desire to reach out and help other 00:11:10.190 --> 00:11:13.450 people and a desire to serve Jesus and to follow 00:11:13.450 --> 00:11:17.169 him and to be an example of Christ living here 00:11:17.169 --> 00:11:20.490 on earth, and all that is led by the Holy Spirit. 00:11:20.590 --> 00:11:23.210 You see, our lives are all about ourselves at 00:11:23.210 --> 00:11:25.409 first. Before I became a Christian, I was just 00:11:25.409 --> 00:11:27.350 wrapped up in me. I don't know if that happened 00:11:27.350 --> 00:11:29.690 to you or not, but I was wrapped up in what I 00:11:29.690 --> 00:11:31.610 needed to do, and what I wanted to get done, 00:11:31.710 --> 00:11:33.509 and what I thought was important, and it was 00:11:33.509 --> 00:11:36.649 all about me, myself, and I. And so that's what 00:11:36.649 --> 00:11:38.870 led my life. And then all of a sudden one day 00:11:38.870 --> 00:11:41.610 I realized that I have kind of a shallow life. 00:11:41.690 --> 00:11:43.769 I'm working, my career is going well at the bank, 00:11:43.809 --> 00:11:45.669 things are going and married, have a wonderful 00:11:45.669 --> 00:11:48.870 wife and have a wonderful little baby boy. And 00:11:48.870 --> 00:11:52.649 my wife was expecting our second baby who was 00:11:52.649 --> 00:11:54.450 a little girl. And all that was taking place 00:11:54.450 --> 00:11:56.409 in my life. And all of a sudden one day the Holy 00:11:56.409 --> 00:11:58.730 Spirit spoke to me and basically said, not an 00:11:58.730 --> 00:12:01.769 audible voice, but impressed me to ask this question, 00:12:01.909 --> 00:12:04.309 what is life all about? My wife and I sit on 00:12:04.309 --> 00:12:06.230 the side of the bed before we're going to go 00:12:06.230 --> 00:12:08.149 to church that day. And I said, why are we doing 00:12:08.149 --> 00:12:10.490 this? Why are we going? We get up, we go through 00:12:10.490 --> 00:12:13.149 this motion, we go to church. What's it all about? 00:12:13.389 --> 00:12:15.769 I don't understand it. And I had never surrendered 00:12:15.769 --> 00:12:18.009 my life to Jesus. And my wife was in the same 00:12:18.009 --> 00:12:21.129 space. She was wondering also, what are we doing? 00:12:21.190 --> 00:12:22.929 Why are we going to church? What's the purpose 00:12:22.929 --> 00:12:24.990 in it? What's the reason for doing this? And 00:12:24.990 --> 00:12:28.309 the Holy Spirit revealed Himself to us. My wife 00:12:28.309 --> 00:12:30.190 received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior 00:12:30.190 --> 00:12:33.250 before I did. But I did later on, you know, a 00:12:33.250 --> 00:12:35.809 short time after that. And we both became followers 00:12:35.809 --> 00:12:37.889 of the Lord Jesus Christ. And 00:17:45.759 --> 00:17:47.960 they just wanted to ask me what I thought of 00:17:47.960 --> 00:17:50.160 that. And so I said, well, I don't know who this 00:17:50.160 --> 00:17:52.900 person is, but I don't agree with that. That's 00:17:52.900 --> 00:17:55.160 not what the Holy Spirit's all about. And I had 00:17:55.160 --> 00:17:57.630 to help this this individual. And it really felt 00:17:57.630 --> 00:18:00.430 good to be able to have someone who was seeking 00:18:00.430 --> 00:18:02.869 help and guidance and direction on understanding 00:18:02.869 --> 00:18:06.009 how the Holy Spirit operates.
