With cancer diagnosis that was going to 00:02:24.710 --> 00:02:26.810 take my life, the Holy Spirit gave me comfort. 00:02:27.050 --> 00:02:29.550 Financial issues when we had our business and 00:02:29.550 --> 00:02:32.969 the economy really dropped terribly and our business 00:02:32.969 --> 00:02:35.509 was in trouble, the Holy Spirit comforted my 00:02:35.509 --> 00:02:37.409 wife and I. We were at peace in the middle of 00:02:37.409 --> 00:02:39.729 some very difficult times. In the church when 00:02:39.729 --> 00:02:42.169 we were building and we faced some financial 00:02:42.169 --> 00:02:44.629 challenges, the Holy Spirit once again came and 00:02:44.629 --> 00:02:46.990 gave comfort. He'll do the same for every one 00:02:46.990 --> 00:02:50.370 of us if we just simply trust in Him, lean upon 00:02:50.370 --> 00:02:52.909 Him, ask for His guidance, His direction. And 00:02:52.909 --> 00:02:56.569 Jesus said that He will send, He says, you the 00:02:56.569 --> 00:02:58.849 Advocate. That means someone that's on our side, 00:02:58.930 --> 00:03:01.370 the Spirit of Truth. And He will come to you 00:03:01.370 --> 00:03:04.370 from the Father and will testify about me. So 00:03:04.370 --> 00:03:06.300 how can it get any better? than that. So that's 00:03:06.300 --> 00:03:08.060 the first scripture, I think, that helps us to 00:03:08.060 --> 00:03:10.379 understand how the Holy Spirit blesses believers. 00:03:10.580 --> 00:03:13.199 He gives us help when we make decisions. We seek 00:03:28.939 --> 00:03:31.099 Him in every area of our life. If we're having 00:03:31.099 --> 00:03:33.740 trouble with our health, we seek Him. If we're 00:03:33.740 --> 00:03:35.699 having a problem, With the food that we eat, 00:03:35.860 --> 00:03:38.099 we seek him. So our decisions 00:04:00.479 --> 00:04:02.819 that we make for every part of our life, the 00:04:02.819 --> 00:04:04.599 Holy Spirit wants to help us. us and guide us. 00:04:04.719 --> 00:04:08.659 Three, he tells us what is true and what is false. 00:04:08.960 --> 00:04:13.300 In John chapter 16 and verse 13, Jesus is talking 00:04:13.300 --> 00:04:15.819 to his disciples because he's leaving them to 00:04:15.819 --> 00:04:18.040 go to heaven. He's comforting them with telling 00:04:18.040 --> 00:04:20.279 about the Holy Spirit, but he gets into this 00:04:20.279 --> 00:04:22.660 one particular area, it's kind of a call to a 00:04:22.660 --> 00:04:24.779 time where sadness, he's telling that sadness 00:04:24.779 --> 00:04:27.439 will return to joy, the sadness of him leaving 00:04:27.439 --> 00:04:29.139 that when the Holy Spirit comes that they'll 00:04:29.139 --> 00:04:32.220 receive joy. But in John chapter 16 and verses 00:04:32.220 --> 00:04:35.129 13, Jesus is telling his disciples, he's telling 00:04:35.129 --> 00:04:37.350 them how to find truth. So verse 13 says this, 00:04:37.589 --> 00:04:40.170 when the spirit of truth comes, he will guide 00:04:40.170 --> 00:04:42.790 you into all truth. He will not speak on his 00:04:42.790 --> 00:04:45.250 own, but will tell you what he has heard. He 00:04:45.250 --> 00:04:47.990 will tell you about the future. Verse 14, he 00:04:47.990 --> 00:04:51.189 will bring me glory by telling you whatever he 00:04:51.189 --> 00:04:54.250 receives from me. In verse 15, all that belongs 00:04:54.250 --> 00:04:57.750 to the father is mine. This is why I said, the 00:04:57.750 --> 00:05:00.560 spirit will tell you. whatever he receives from 00:05:00.560 --> 00:05:03.680 me. So we're hearing direct revelation of truth 00:05:03.680 --> 00:05:06.100 from the Holy Spirit. That's why we must seek 00:05:06.100 --> 00:05:09.399 him, must ask him for help, seek his guidance, 00:05:09.579 --> 00:05:13.819 pray and read the Holy Spirit inspired Word of 00:05:13.819 --> 00:05:16.040 God. That's where we'll find truth. Matter of 00:05:16.040 --> 00:05:18.079 fact, I've always been taught over the years 00:05:18.079 --> 00:05:20.240 as being a Christian and listening to some great 00:05:20.240 --> 00:05:22.899 teachers, if anyone is really looking for truth, 00:05:22.939 --> 00:05:25.980 eventually they have to find Jesus because Jesus 00:05:25.980 --> 00:05:29.259 is the only truth that's out there. And so we 00:05:29.259 --> 00:05:31.519 have that. That truth is living inside of us. 00:05:31.720 --> 00:05:34.519 So that's how we can be directed to understand 00:05:34.519 --> 00:05:37.120 the difference. between what's true and what's 00:05:37.120 --> 00:05:39.300 false in life. One of the greatest blessings 00:05:39.300 --> 00:05:41.920 that the Holy Spirit can give us is that he draws 00:05:41.920 --> 00:05:44.579 us to become Christians. That's got to be the 00:05:44.579 --> 00:05:47.240 greatest gift that he gives us, is that he then 00:05:47.240 --> 00:05:50.540 comes upon us and speaks to our inner spirit 00:05:50.540 --> 00:05:53.500 and our own spirit and our body, soul and spirit 00:05:53.500 --> 00:05:56.240 to draw us into a relationship with Jesus Christ. 00:05:56.300 --> 00:05:58.420 That's why I believe so strongly in praying for 00:05:58.420 --> 00:06:00.720 people who are unsaved that the Holy Spirit would 00:06:00.720 --> 00:06:03.160 speak to them and would reveal to them the truth, 00:06:03.199 --> 00:06:06.100 would reveal to them that they need Jesus. They 00:06:06.100 --> 00:06:09.279 need to submit their lives and their cares and 00:06:09.279 --> 00:06:11.199 their concerns of life and submit them to the 00:06:11.199 --> 00:06:13.319 Lord Jesus Christ. So that's the greatest gift 00:06:13.319 --> 00:06:16.279 that we can receive from him. Another gift or 00:06:16.279 --> 00:06:18.959 blessing that he has is that he reminds us of 00:06:18.959 --> 00:06:21.079 scriptures when we need them. There's a wonderful 00:06:21.079 --> 00:06:23.660 scripture found in John chapter 14 and verse 00:06:23.660 --> 00:06:26.259 26 that describes that. These are the words of 00:06:26.259 --> 00:06:28.680 Jesus again found in the New Living Translation. 00:06:28.899 --> 00:06:31.139 But when the Father sends the Advocate, that's 00:06:31.139 --> 00:06:34.050 the Holy Spirit, as my representative, that is 00:06:34.050 --> 00:06:37.110 the Holy Spirit, He will teach you everything 00:06:37.110 --> 00:06:40.290 and will remind you of everything I have told 00:06:40.290 --> 00:06:42.970 you. You know, it's so important that we understand 00:06:42.970 --> 00:06:44.569 that the Holy Spirit is working inside of us 00:06:44.569 --> 00:06:47.930 to help us, not to beat us up, not to make us 00:06:47.930 --> 00:06:50.269 feel pressure and anxiety, but just the opposite, 00:06:50.370 --> 00:06:53.110 to bring peace and joy and love and patience 00:06:53.110 --> 00:06:55.449 and all the things that He offers to us through 00:06:55.449 --> 00:06:57.790 the fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, 00:06:57.990 --> 00:07:00.449 goodness, kindness, gentleness, and self -control. 00:07:00.509 --> 00:07:02.790 Those are things that the Holy Spirit brings 00:07:02.829 --> 00:07:05.370 us and we've got to understand that he is our 00:07:05.370 --> 00:07:08.610 source of all the peace and all the joy and all 00:07:08.610 --> 00:07:10.730 the blessings that are made available by God 00:07:10.730 --> 00:07:13.050 the Father. And since I mentioned peace, why 00:07:13.050 --> 00:07:14.649 don't we just look for it in the Word of God 00:07:14.649 --> 00:07:16.730 and see where it talks about how the Holy Spirit 00:07:16.730 --> 00:07:19.709 brings these things to us. It's found in Galatians 00:07:19.709 --> 00:07:22.730 chapter 5 verses 22 through 23. They're called 00:07:22.730 --> 00:07:25.029 the fruit of the Spirit. Paul's writing here 00:07:25.029 --> 00:07:27.970 and he says, but the Holy Spirit produces This 00:07:27.970 --> 00:07:31.209 kind of fruit in our lives, love, joy, peace, 00:07:31.589 --> 00:07:34.709 patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, 00:07:34.990 --> 00:07:37.430 and self -control. There is no law against these 00:07:37.430 --> 00:07:40.350 things. So see, that's just a bunch of blessings, 00:07:40.490 --> 00:07:43.329 right? That's just a bulk of blessings that God 00:07:43.329 --> 00:07:46.410 wants to place upon us and they all come from 00:07:46.410 --> 00:07:48.910 the Holy Spirit. So therefore, if you're looking 00:07:48.910 --> 00:07:51.389 for, well, how can he bless you? Then just pull 00:07:51.389 --> 00:07:53.310 these scriptures out and start reading them and 00:07:53.310 --> 00:07:55.649 start believing them and allow them to permeate 00:07:55.649 --> 00:07:58.019 your life and just fill your heart and your body, 00:07:58.019 --> 00:08:00.379 soul and spirit with the love of Christ and the 00:08:00.379 --> 00:08:02.240 power of the Holy Spirit. Under the direction 00:08:02.240 --> 00:08:05.699 of God the Father, the Holy Spirit brings us 00:08:05.699 --> 00:08:08.420 blessings. Listen to Paul speaking in the book 00:08:08.420 --> 00:08:11.120 of Ephesians in chapter 1 and verse 3. Listen 00:08:11.120 --> 00:08:13.980 to this very carefully and see where the Holy 00:08:13.980 --> 00:08:16.100 Spirit is speaking to you in an area that you 00:08:16.100 --> 00:08:18.100 might need help with in your life. All praise 00:08:18.100 --> 00:08:20.139 to God. First of all, if we want to be blessed 00:08:20.139 --> 00:08:21.860 by the Holy Spirit, we're going to have to give 00:08:21.860 --> 00:08:24.180 all praise to God. It says the Father of our 00:08:24.180 --> 00:08:27.600 Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us with every 00:08:27.600 --> 00:08:31.500 spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because 00:08:31.500 --> 00:08:35.000 we are united with Christ. Look at that. Every 00:08:35.000 --> 00:08:37.799 blessing. Listen to that. I'm kind of getting 00:08:37.799 --> 00:08:39.799 excited. You can probably tell that. But listen 00:08:39.799 --> 00:08:41.539 to this scripture once again. We're talking about 00:08:41.539 --> 00:08:44.340 how the Holy Spirit blesses us and here God gives 00:08:44.340 --> 00:08:47.519 this direction to Paul who is being anointed 00:08:47.519 --> 00:08:49.980 by the Holy Spirit to write these words down. 00:08:49.980 --> 00:08:53.080 He said, all praise to God. That's when we're 00:08:53.080 --> 00:08:55.419 struggling with something, start off by praying. 00:08:55.279 --> 00:08:58.639 See, it's the praises that we give to God that 00:08:58.639 --> 00:09:02.179 take away the fear and the anxiety and all the 00:09:02.179 --> 00:09:04.299 stuff, the worry, the things that come into our 00:09:04.299 --> 00:09:07.200 life. So all praise to God, the Father of our 00:09:07.200 --> 00:09:10.200 Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us. Listen 00:09:10.200 --> 00:09:12.700 to that. Has blessed us, not will or someday 00:09:12.700 --> 00:09:16.519 might, but has blessed us with every spiritual 00:09:16.519 --> 00:09:20.200 blessing in the heavenly realms because we are 00:09:20.200 --> 00:09:23.080 united with Christ. So all of that blessing is 00:09:23.080 --> 00:09:24.870 available to us if we look at the Bible. learn 00:09:24.870 --> 00:09:28.450 to live and walk in the Spirit because there's 00:09:28.450 --> 00:09:30.909 two ways that we walk here on earth. One is in 00:09:30.909 --> 00:09:33.029 the Spirit and one's in the flesh. And I know 00:09:33.029 --> 00:09:35.309 most of us go in and out of it. We're for a while 00:09:35.309 --> 00:09:37.330 maybe just doing our own things. It may not be 00:09:37.330 --> 00:09:39.470 bad things, but we've got our own mind set on 00:09:39.470 --> 00:09:41.090 what we're going to do, the direction we're going 00:09:41.090 --> 00:09:42.549 to go, the decision we're going to make. So we 00:09:42.549 --> 00:09:45.289 do all those things. And then we wake up, fortunately, 00:09:45.610 --> 00:09:47.490 spiritually and realize that we need to stop 00:09:47.490 --> 00:09:49.789 thinking that way and we need to walk in the 00:09:49.789 --> 00:09:51.870 Spirit. When we walk in the Spirit, then that 00:09:51.870 --> 00:09:55.009 opens up the promises that I just read in Ephesians 00:09:55.009 --> 00:09:58.769 chapter 1 and verse 3. Every spiritual blessing 00:09:58.769 --> 00:10:02.070 in the heavenly realms because we are united 00:10:02.070 --> 00:10:04.850 with Christ and we're united with Christ and 00:10:04.850 --> 00:10:07.389 then he in turn Christ sends the Holy Spirit 00:10:07.389 --> 00:10:10.750 to earth to fill us, to dwell in us, to give 00:10:10.750 --> 00:10:13.850 us the opportunity to receive all the blessings 00:10:13.850 --> 00:10:16.909 of the heavenlies. You know, that's such a powerful 00:10:16.909 --> 00:10:19.129 scripture. That ought to be a podcast someday. 00:10:19.230 --> 00:10:20.850 Well, I'll have to think about that one. Always, listen to 00:10:36.139 --> 00:10:38.779 that, always ready, which means He's there, ready 00:10:38.779 --> 00:10:41.539 to help us. Always ready to help in times of 00:10:41.539 --> 00:10:44.659 trouble. You see, we have access to that always 00:10:44.659 --> 00:10:47.519 ready and help of God the Father because of the 00:10:47.519 --> 00:10:49.620 indwelling of the Holy Spirit inside of us. So 00:10:49.620 --> 00:10:52.580 the Holy Spirit then helps us connect with that 00:10:52.580 --> 00:10:54.799 strength, with that hope. Here's another Psalm 00:10:54.799 --> 00:10:56.759 I think that's really wonderful dealing with. 00:10:57.129 --> 00:10:59.649 always ready to help us. It's found in Psalm 00:10:59.649 --> 00:11:01.990 chapter 1 and verse 1. Listen to this, Oh the 00:11:01.990 --> 00:11:04.690 joys of those who do not follow the advice of 00:11:04.690 --> 00:11:07.649 the wicked or stand around the sinners or join 00:11:07.649 --> 00:11:10.450 in with mockers for they delight in the law of 00:11:10.450 --> 00:11:13.250 the Lord meditating on it day and night. You 00:11:13.250 --> 00:11:16.289 see, we've got to meditate on God's Word because 00:11:16.289 --> 00:11:18.909 God's Word was inspired by the Holy Spirit. The 00:11:18.909 --> 00:11:20.730 Holy Spirit lives and dwells in us. The Holy 00:11:20.730 --> 00:11:24.230 Spirit inside of us is so deeply wanting us to 00:11:24.230 --> 00:11:26.250 devour the Word of God, to read the Word of God, 00:11:26.330 --> 00:11:28.529 to study the Word of God, to take it into our 00:11:28.529 --> 00:11:31.049 heart and mind, to every time we read a scripture, 00:11:31.190 --> 00:11:34.230 allow it to speak to us because it's personal. 00:11:34.409 --> 00:11:36.070 The scriptures are very personal. No, the point of it is that God 00:11:40.909 --> 00:11:42.970 is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So 00:11:42.970 --> 00:11:45.190 when he said in Psalms, oh, the joys of those 00:11:45.190 --> 00:11:47.330 who do not follow the advice of the wicked, that 00:11:47.330 --> 00:11:49.809 advice goes for followers of the Lord Jesus Christ 00:11:49.809 --> 00:11:51.789 all the way through their life and into eternity. 00:11:51.950 --> 00:11:54.590 So therefore, we can receive peace through the 00:11:54.590 --> 00:11:57.080 Holy Spirit and have a relationship with God 00:11:57.080 --> 00:12:00.059 the Father and through His Word receive the help 00:12:00.059 --> 00:12:02.840 and strength that we need. Now that bothers 00:12:10.460 --> 00:12:12.940 some of you, but in reality, I am so thankful 00:12:12.940 --> 00:12:15.220 when I get convicted of something that I did 00:12:15.220 --> 00:12:17.580 wrong or made a mistake or made an error, I know 00:12:17.580 --> 00:12:20.080 it's the Holy Spirit that's helping me. I welcome 00:12:20.080 --> 00:12:22.580 conviction from the Holy Spirit. Matter of fact, 00:12:22.620 --> 00:12:26.220 I welcome God to correct me because not you, 00:12:26.220 --> 00:12:27.740 I don't want to hear from you and be corrected. 00:12:27.799 --> 00:12:30.360 I don't want to be corrected by my spouse. I 00:12:30.360 --> 00:12:32.299 want God though to correct me because when He 00:12:32.299 --> 00:12:34.159 corrects me, it's for my good. And so it all 00:12:34.159 --> 00:12:36.440 benefit. One translation says, it's for my good 00:12:36.440 --> 00:12:38.559 and then I'll profit from it. Jesus talked about it in John 00:12:45.980 --> 00:12:49.340 chapter 16 and verse 8. Listen to this, he's 00:12:49.340 --> 00:12:51.120 talking to the disciples, he's saying basically, 00:12:51.379 --> 00:12:53.440 if I don't go then the Holy Spirit won't come 00:12:53.440 --> 00:12:55.460 so therefore it's better for you if I go. And 00:12:55.460 --> 00:12:59.000 in verse 8 of chapter 16 in John, Jesus says 00:12:59.000 --> 00:13:00.720 these words, and when he comes, he's talking 00:13:00.720 --> 00:13:03.639 about the Holy Spirit, he will convict the world 00:13:03.639 --> 00:13:07.120 of its sin and of God's righteousness and of 00:13:07.120 --> 00:13:10.139 the coming judgment. Now you see, that's a blessing. 00:13:10.399 --> 00:13:12.919 It's a blessing to be convicted that we have 00:13:12.919 --> 00:13:15.879 sin in our life. Now don't take this wrong. And the Holy Spirit helps 00:18:51.880 --> 00:18:54.180 us in our weaknesses. There's another blessing. 00:18:54.410 --> 00:18:57.410 That means the Holy Spirit can help us with anything, 00:18:57.650 --> 00:18:59.589 no matter what it is. And a lot of people will 00:18:59.589 --> 00:19:01.410 come to me for counsel, and they'll say, Pastor, 00:19:01.569 --> 00:19:03.269 I'm just not really sure how to deal with this. 00:19:03.289 --> 00:19:04.829 I don't know how to address this. And I'll ask 00:19:04.829 --> 00:19:06.809 them, well, what does the Word of God say? Or, 00:19:06.930 --> 00:19:08.430 how are you dealing with it in your prayer time? 00:19:08.569 --> 00:19:10.430 Have you asked the Holy Spirit to give you guidance 00:19:10.430 --> 00:19:13.069 and direction? And usually, most of the time, 00:19:13.150 --> 00:19:15.450 they're saying, well, not like I should. Well, 00:19:15.490 --> 00:19:18.809 we've got to seek God as we should, because He 00:19:18.809 --> 00:19:20.910 will help us in our weaknesses. That's what Jesus 00:20:27.509 --> 00:20:31.170 told his disciples. The Holy Spirit in us has 00:20:31.170 --> 00:20:33.980 filled us. with power from heaven.
