Well, to get started, let's look 00:01:21.390 --> 00:01:25.609 at some scriptural promises of joy that are led 00:01:25.609 --> 00:01:28.730 by the Holy Spirit. In Romans 8, 14, listen to 00:01:28.730 --> 00:01:32.430 this, for all who are led by the Spirit of God 00:01:32.430 --> 00:01:34.969 are sons of God. So therefore, the Bible's telling 00:01:34.969 --> 00:01:37.329 us that we're all have the opportunity to be 00:01:37.329 --> 00:01:39.980 led by the Spirit of God. but there's only a 00:01:39.980 --> 00:01:42.079 certain number who will be led by the Spirit 00:01:42.079 --> 00:01:43.959 of God, and when we're led by the Spirit of God, 00:01:44.159 --> 00:01:46.599 He leads us into all truth, He leads us into 00:01:46.599 --> 00:01:49.659 joy, He leads us into a life, a quality life, 00:01:49.819 --> 00:01:52.120 a quality Christian life, a life filled with 00:01:52.120 --> 00:01:54.840 the joy of the Lord. Now, that scripture, I believe, 00:01:55.000 --> 00:01:57.799 tells us for all who are led by the Spirit of 00:01:57.799 --> 00:02:01.400 God are sons of God. It means that all Christians 00:02:01.400 --> 00:02:04.650 receive the opportunity to receive the fullness 00:02:04.650 --> 00:02:07.290 and the blessings and the joy of the Holy Spirit. 00:02:07.590 --> 00:02:09.449 Here's another scripture I think that has a lot 00:02:09.449 --> 00:02:12.469 to do with having joy in our walk with God. Galatians 00:02:12.469 --> 00:02:15.710 chapter 5 and verse 22. It says here, but the 00:02:15.710 --> 00:02:20.009 fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, 00:02:20.530 --> 00:02:23.129 kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, 00:02:23.569 --> 00:02:26.150 and self -control. Now, what's this telling us? 00:02:26.210 --> 00:02:28.770 That's so much there to tell us. It says that 00:02:28.770 --> 00:02:31.930 the Holy Spirit brings the fruit of the Spirit. 00:02:31.949 --> 00:02:34.629 Now, I did a series of messages on the gifts 00:02:34.629 --> 00:02:37.250 of the Holy Spirit and the nine power gifts of 00:02:37.250 --> 00:02:39.530 the Holy Spirit. The gifts, you know, of miracles 00:02:39.530 --> 00:02:42.569 and tongues, interpretation of tongues, and healings, 00:02:42.569 --> 00:02:44.750 and all these wonderful gifts. But, you know, 00:02:44.849 --> 00:02:47.169 another gift that the Holy Spirit has to bring 00:02:47.169 --> 00:02:50.110 to followers of the Lord Jesus Christ is the 00:02:50.110 --> 00:02:52.710 fruit of the Spirit. It's it's what the Holy 00:02:52.710 --> 00:02:56.490 Spirit produces in us and that is love and that's 00:02:56.490 --> 00:02:59.669 obviously So vital to have our walk with God 00:02:59.669 --> 00:03:01.870 and to love other people and to have joy and 00:03:01.870 --> 00:03:05.009 to have peace Those three go together so closely 00:03:05.009 --> 00:03:07.370 love joy and peace They just flow together when 00:03:07.370 --> 00:03:10.909 you say them you just feel a unity there a oneness 00:03:10.909 --> 00:03:13.550 with the Holy Spirit that we can have love joy 00:03:13.550 --> 00:03:15.689 and peace and then it says patience for those 00:03:15.689 --> 00:03:17.750 of us who need that and I'm certainly that's 00:03:17.750 --> 00:03:20.689 one that that I need from time to time and kindness 00:03:20.689 --> 00:03:23.770 and goodness and faithfulness and gentleness 00:03:23.770 --> 00:03:27.949 and self -control all of these are crucial to 00:03:27.949 --> 00:03:30.310 experiencing the joy of the Holy Spirit in our 00:03:30.310 --> 00:03:33.569 life. The fruit of the Holy Spirit are the characteristics 00:03:34.310 --> 00:03:38.090 God's Spirit. And joy is a fruit of the Spirit 00:03:38.090 --> 00:03:41.449 that we are able to receive if we draw close 00:03:41.449 --> 00:03:44.150 to God and we ask the Holy Spirit to lead us 00:03:44.150 --> 00:03:46.550 and guide us and direct us. Here's another scripture 00:03:46.550 --> 00:03:49.189 I think that pulls us together in 1st John chapter 00:03:49.189 --> 00:03:52.289 5 verse 4. It says for everyone who has been 00:03:52.289 --> 00:03:56.169 born of God overcomes the world and we get the 00:03:56.169 --> 00:03:58.789 victory over this world through faith. Now what 00:03:58.789 --> 00:04:02.189 that tells me is the Holy Spirit gives us victory 00:04:02.189 --> 00:04:05.469 that brings joy. because you can't have joy if 00:04:05.469 --> 00:04:08.419 you don't have victory. and the victory is brought 00:04:08.419 --> 00:04:10.819 to us by the Holy Spirit through the Holy Spirit 00:04:10.819 --> 00:04:13.780 as we yield and submit ourselves to Him. For 00:04:13.780 --> 00:04:16.120 everyone who's been born of God, those are followers 00:04:16.120 --> 00:04:18.399 of the Lord Jesus Christ. Now if you've not given 00:04:18.399 --> 00:04:20.720 your life to Jesus Christ and you wonder why 00:04:20.720 --> 00:04:22.579 you're having a lot of turmoil and challenges 00:04:22.579 --> 00:04:25.279 in your life, it's because you don't have the 00:04:25.279 --> 00:04:27.019 Holy Spirit living and dwelling in you. So why 00:04:27.019 --> 00:04:29.100 don't we take a moment and I want to invite everyone 00:04:29.100 --> 00:04:31.779 here who is not sure whether they're going to 00:04:31.779 --> 00:04:33.560 heaven or not, they're not sure of their relationship 00:04:33.560 --> 00:04:35.819 with God, to take a moment now and let's just 00:04:35.759 --> 00:04:38.040 Just set things straight and go to the Lord and 00:04:38.040 --> 00:04:40.220 ask for forgiveness. Just say, Heavenly Father, 00:04:40.399 --> 00:04:43.220 I need you. I need a Savior. I need you to change 00:04:43.220 --> 00:04:46.060 my life. I need to receive the baptism of the 00:04:46.060 --> 00:04:48.139 Holy Spirit. I need to receive the power of the 00:04:48.139 --> 00:04:51.439 Holy Spirit in my life. And so on this day, I 00:04:51.439 --> 00:04:53.660 surrender to you, Lord, and I ask you to forgive 00:04:53.660 --> 00:04:56.379 me of my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. 00:04:56.399 --> 00:04:59.160 And I receive now the Lord Jesus Christ as my 00:04:59.160 --> 00:05:01.379 Lord and Savior. I believe that he is the Son 00:05:01.379 --> 00:05:04.139 of God. He was born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered. 00:05:04.319 --> 00:05:06.870 He died. And this scripture now applies 00:05:25.430 --> 00:05:28.870 to you, 1 John 5 for everyone who has been born 00:05:28.870 --> 00:05:31.149 of God. That's what just took place in you. Now 00:05:31.149 --> 00:05:32.850 for those who are already Christians, you already 00:05:32.850 --> 00:05:35.509 know Jesus Christ, you We know that, but use 00:05:35.509 --> 00:05:38.089 this scripture to explain to people the difference 00:05:38.089 --> 00:05:40.490 between not being a Christian and becoming a 00:05:40.490 --> 00:05:44.310 follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. able to get 00:05:44.310 --> 00:05:47.110 the victory over this world through our faith 00:05:47.110 --> 00:05:51.470 in the Lord Jesus Christ and being led by the 00:05:51.470 --> 00:05:54.209 Holy Spirit to receive the victory that will 00:05:54.209 --> 00:05:57.410 bring joy to our life. Joy comes to those who 00:05:57.410 --> 00:06:00.029 are led by the Spirit of God. That's what it 00:06:00.029 --> 00:06:03.029 says. That means joy comes to those who surrender 00:06:03.029 --> 00:06:05.790 to the Holy Spirit, who follow the Holy Spirit, 00:06:05.949 --> 00:06:08.689 who yield to the Holy Spirit, who submit their 00:06:08.689 --> 00:06:10.689 thoughts and their ideas, their comments and 00:06:10.689 --> 00:06:13.040 their words to the Holy Spirit and want to be 00:06:13.040 --> 00:06:16.240 led by Him in every single area of our life. 00:06:16.600 --> 00:06:18.060 I tell you, there's nothing better than that. 00:06:18.180 --> 00:06:19.860 When you're led by the Spirit of God and you 00:06:19.860 --> 00:06:21.879 know that you know that you know, the Holy Spirit 00:06:21.879 --> 00:06:24.779 is leading and guiding us and directing us through 00:06:24.779 --> 00:06:26.839 the challenges we face, through the good times 00:06:26.839 --> 00:06:29.660 that we face, and helps us in every single situation 00:06:29.660 --> 00:06:32.660 in our life. Now when we receive Jesus as our 00:06:32.660 --> 00:06:35.699 Lord and Savior, we receive the Holy Spirit, 00:06:35.740 --> 00:06:39.120 but that does not mean we will never have trials. 00:06:39.470 --> 00:06:41.230 We're going to have trials, we're going to have 00:06:41.230 --> 00:06:44.449 challenges. In Psalm chapter 30 and verse 5 it 00:06:44.449 --> 00:06:48.040 tells us this, sorrow or weeping may... Last 00:06:48.040 --> 00:06:50.100 for a night, that means for a period of time, 00:06:50.300 --> 00:06:53.019 but joy comes in the morning. What a glorious 00:06:53.019 --> 00:06:55.100 scripture that is. You know, I can't tell you 00:06:55.100 --> 00:06:56.980 the number of times that I've used that scripture 00:06:56.980 --> 00:06:59.360 to help someone who's struggling. Yes, sorrow 00:06:59.360 --> 00:07:01.980 comes. It comes upon us and it sometimes lasts 00:07:01.980 --> 00:07:03.879 for the night. It sometimes lasts a long time. 00:07:03.879 --> 00:07:07.279 It may last nights and weeks and months and sometimes 00:07:07.279 --> 00:07:09.439 even years where we're challenged with things. 00:07:09.620 --> 00:07:12.720 But joy comes in the morning. And the way that 00:07:12.720 --> 00:07:14.980 joy comes is when we surrender totally to the 00:07:14.980 --> 00:07:19.339 Holy Spirit and receive Him. his power and submit 00:07:19.339 --> 00:07:21.660 to receive the fruit of the Holy Spirit which 00:07:21.660 --> 00:07:25.199 is love, joy, and peace in our life. Now trials 00:07:25.199 --> 00:07:28.740 come, but joy is greater than trials. Let me 00:07:28.740 --> 00:07:31.670 repeat that. Trials are going to come, but the 00:07:31.670 --> 00:07:34.310 Holy Spirit and joy is greater than our trials. 00:07:34.649 --> 00:07:39.389 Joy overcomes trials. Joy keeps us living above 00:07:39.389 --> 00:07:42.370 the trials. Now think about that. If we can walk 00:07:42.370 --> 00:07:44.689 in joy, then we can live literally above the 00:07:44.689 --> 00:07:46.569 trials. And when we have a challenge, a problem, 00:07:46.709 --> 00:07:48.629 we just simply say, that just happened. Those 00:07:48.629 --> 00:07:50.550 things happen in life. I'm going to move on. 00:07:50.550 --> 00:07:52.509 It doesn't change my walk with God. It doesn't 00:07:52.509 --> 00:07:54.889 change my trust in God. It doesn't change my 00:07:54.889 --> 00:07:57.069 relationship with the Lord. It doesn't change 00:07:57.069 --> 00:08:00.670 my feelings and my heart. towards the Holy Spirit 00:08:00.670 --> 00:08:03.889 and so therefore we can then overcome joy and 00:08:03.889 --> 00:08:07.089 we can live above trials if we have true joy 00:08:07.089 --> 00:08:08.730 in our heart. That doesn't mean we're not going 00:08:08.730 --> 00:08:10.470 to have difficult times. That doesn't mean we're 00:08:10.470 --> 00:08:12.569 not going to feel down one day and up the next, 00:08:12.610 --> 00:08:16.089 but we can flatten that out and live a life of 00:08:16.089 --> 00:08:18.529 joy. I made a statement in the beginning of this 00:08:18.529 --> 00:08:21.910 and it said this, how can we live with continual 00:08:21.910 --> 00:08:25.509 joy? Well, because it's the joy of the Lord that's 00:08:25.509 --> 00:08:28.670 our strength. That's so powerful. powerful believers 00:08:28.670 --> 00:08:30.889 and it's the Holy Spirit's the one that brings 00:08:30.889 --> 00:08:33.190 that joy and that peace through the fruit of 00:08:33.190 --> 00:08:35.769 the Spirit and that joy does overcome trials 00:08:35.769 --> 00:08:37.889 and that even in the midst of all the trials, 00:08:38.129 --> 00:08:40.769 all the challenges that the Apostle Paul experienced, 00:08:41.029 --> 00:08:44.909 he still had a core of joy in his heart. He knew 00:08:44.909 --> 00:08:47.480 that he knew that he knew that He would win in 00:08:47.480 --> 00:08:50.179 the end. He knew that Jesus was his Lord. He 00:08:50.179 --> 00:08:52.000 knew where he was going to spend eternity and 00:08:52.000 --> 00:08:54.139 he knew that God would never leave him or forsake 00:08:54.139 --> 00:08:56.539 him. And because of God's Word, because of the 00:08:56.539 --> 00:08:58.879 strength he found in God's Word, as he wrote 00:08:58.879 --> 00:09:00.899 it and as he was inspired by the Holy Spirit 00:09:00.899 --> 00:09:04.299 to write it, he learned how to live above the 00:09:04.299 --> 00:09:06.879 trials and had joy continually in his life. Now, 00:09:06.879 --> 00:09:09.840 I have a good friend who has faced many, many 00:09:09.840 --> 00:09:12.860 years of physical trials, but he has chosen to 00:09:12.860 --> 00:09:16.159 receive joy. even in the midst of his challenges. 00:09:16.500 --> 00:09:18.340 Over and over again, I've seen this guy face 00:09:18.340 --> 00:09:21.039 horrendous and difficult times, but he continues 00:09:21.039 --> 00:09:24.299 to walk in the joy of the Lord and knows that 00:09:24.299 --> 00:09:26.940 he can live at peace regardless of what the world 00:09:26.940 --> 00:09:29.500 throws at him, whatever comes his way, whether 00:09:29.500 --> 00:09:31.740 the trials that happen that last for the night, 00:09:31.740 --> 00:09:33.820 he knows there's going to be joy in the morning. 00:09:33.860 --> 00:09:36.240 And so we give God glory and praise for that. 00:09:36.379 --> 00:09:39.059 Let's continue on. In Romans chapter 14 and verse 00:09:39.059 --> 00:09:42.539 17, it tells us that we have joy in the Holy 00:09:42.539 --> 00:09:46.860 Spirit. Now the Holy Spirit dwells in us 24 hours 00:09:46.860 --> 00:09:49.659 a day, seven days a week. Now that's kind of 00:09:49.659 --> 00:09:52.080 important to think about because we have good 00:09:52.080 --> 00:09:54.320 times and bad times during even one day or one 00:09:54.320 --> 00:09:56.360 day to the next or one week to the next. But 00:09:56.360 --> 00:09:58.639 we've got to stop and think that as a follower 00:09:58.639 --> 00:10:01.159 of the Lord Jesus Christ, we have the indwelling 00:10:01.159 --> 00:10:04.340 of the Holy Spirit in us 24 hours a day, seven 00:10:04.340 --> 00:10:07.100 days a week. He is always ready there to help. 00:10:07.159 --> 00:10:09.820 We need to talk to him. We need to thank him. 00:10:09.879 --> 00:10:12.490 We need to thank Jesus for the Holy Spirit. And 00:10:12.490 --> 00:10:14.789 when we do that, and when we give praise and 00:10:14.789 --> 00:10:17.110 thankfulness to the Lord, then it brings joy. 00:10:17.929 --> 00:10:20.690 If we're thankful people, if we're faithful people, 00:10:20.870 --> 00:10:23.570 if we're loyal people, we will be joyful people. 00:10:23.730 --> 00:10:26.389 I believe that. But as I'm 00:10:34.840 --> 00:10:36.399 talking, there's some people that might be saying, 00:10:36.419 --> 00:10:38.879 yeah, this is all good. It's nice. It's interesting. 00:10:39.039 --> 00:10:41.620 But you know, really, is that really life? Can 00:10:41.620 --> 00:10:43.399 you actually live that way? Well, let me just 00:10:43.399 --> 00:10:45.879 pray for you, because I truly believe that we 00:10:45.879 --> 00:10:48.840 can live over trials and that joy will take us 00:10:48.840 --> 00:10:50.899 over trials. Let me pray for you. Heavenly Father, 00:10:51.000 --> 00:10:52.519 I know there are those who are listening who 00:10:52.519 --> 00:10:55.039 might be struggling with a trial, a challenge, 00:10:55.100 --> 00:10:57.240 because we all do. But I pray now, Lord, that 00:10:57.240 --> 00:11:00.100 we call upon you to send your peace that passeth 00:11:00.100 --> 00:11:02.559 all understanding. And that peace, Lord, would 00:11:02.559 --> 00:11:04.840 guard their heart. would guard their minds in 00:11:04.840 --> 00:11:07.000 Christ Jesus. I pray, Lord, that those who are 00:11:07.000 --> 00:11:09.480 struggling right now would realize in Psalm 46, 00:11:09.620 --> 00:11:12.299 1, where it says that God is an ever -present 00:11:12.299 --> 00:11:14.820 help in times of trials. And I thank you, Lord, 00:11:14.840 --> 00:11:17.559 for Philippians chapter 4 and verse 6 that tells 00:11:17.559 --> 00:11:20.419 us to be anxious for nothing but everything through 00:11:20.419 --> 00:11:22.740 prayer, petitions, and thanksgiving, let a request 00:11:22.740 --> 00:11:25.080 be made known to God. And I thank you, Lord, 00:11:25.200 --> 00:11:28.379 where Romans 8, 28 tells us that all things worked 00:11:28.379 --> 00:11:30.480 for good for those who love the Lord are called 00:11:30.480 --> 00:11:33.279 according to His purpose. And I thank you Lord 00:11:33.279 --> 00:11:35.899 that no weapon formed against us shall prosper 00:11:35.899 --> 00:11:38.519 and I could go on and on about the scriptures 00:11:38.519 --> 00:11:41.019 and the promises of God that will bring us joy 00:11:41.019 --> 00:11:43.899 in the midst of trials. I pray now that those 00:11:43.899 --> 00:11:46.100 folks that are listening in dealing with these 00:11:46.100 --> 00:11:48.789 trials and challenges would receive Blessings 00:11:48.789 --> 00:11:50.929 and goodness and strength and I ask it for it 00:11:50.929 --> 00:11:54.169 now and in Jesus name. I pray amen Well, I hope 00:11:54.169 --> 00:11:56.509 that was helpful I felt really led to the spirit 00:11:56.509 --> 00:11:59.509 to at that moment just speak a prayer into those 00:11:59.509 --> 00:12:01.309 who may be having a little bit of a challenge 00:12:01.309 --> 00:12:04.090 with something and maybe having a difficult time 00:12:04.090 --> 00:12:07.070 maybe receiving and accepting the joy of the 00:12:07.070 --> 00:12:10.570 Holy Spirit the disciples of Jesus when he sent 00:12:10.570 --> 00:12:13.570 them out to spread the good news. He talked to 00:12:13.570 --> 00:12:15.850 them and he told them what they would face and 00:12:15.850 --> 00:12:17.690 the challenge that they were going to face. And 00:12:17.690 --> 00:12:19.830 we read about it in Luke chapter 10 and verse 00:12:19.830 --> 00:12:23.269 21. And it tells us this, at that time Jesus, 00:12:23.370 --> 00:12:26.490 listen to this, full of joy. through the Holy 00:12:26.490 --> 00:12:29.149 Spirit said, now obviously he's the son of God 00:12:29.149 --> 00:12:31.250 and obviously had the Holy Spirit living and 00:12:31.250 --> 00:12:33.370 dwelling inside of him. But listen to that, he 00:12:33.370 --> 00:12:36.809 says, and at that time when he was facing a big 00:12:36.809 --> 00:12:39.289 challenge and he knew his disciples would be 00:12:39.289 --> 00:12:41.789 facing huge challenges going out, some people 00:12:41.789 --> 00:12:43.629 would attack them, some people will come against 00:12:43.629 --> 00:12:45.429 them, some people would love them, some people 00:12:45.429 --> 00:12:47.730 would care for them. But it says, because it 00:12:47.730 --> 00:12:50.889 says full of joy through the Holy Spirit that 00:12:50.889 --> 00:12:53.649 the thing that carried Jesus above the challenges 00:12:53.649 --> 00:12:56.299 of that day was that he was full of joy. We were remodeling our home 00:15:25.909 --> 00:15:27.370 that we had just bought and we were having it 00:15:27.370 --> 00:15:29.789 all torn apart from the inside out and all the 00:15:29.789 --> 00:15:31.809 construction workers were just complaining and 00:15:31.809 --> 00:15:34.230 griping and just complained about everything. 00:15:34.250 --> 00:15:36.269 and I'd walk in there and they'd be cursing and 00:15:36.269 --> 00:15:37.909 I'd walk in the room then they kind of calmed 00:15:37.909 --> 00:15:39.250 down a little bit because they know I didn't 00:15:39.250 --> 00:15:41.210 approve of that and so finally I got to thinking 00:15:41.210 --> 00:15:43.409 you know I need to do something to let these 00:15:43.409 --> 00:15:45.990 guys know that Jesus loves them and that the 00:15:45.990 --> 00:15:48.230 Holy Spirit can help them and you think well 00:15:48.230 --> 00:15:50.289 how do you do that with a bunch of rugged construction 00:15:50.289 --> 00:15:52.990 workers well I said Lord what do I do what can 00:15:52.990 --> 00:15:55.350 I do and so I went back home and I got a picture 00:15:55.350 --> 00:15:57.730 and I brought it in and I hung it on the wall 00:15:57.899 --> 00:16:01.460 And this picture was a wonderful rendering of 00:16:01.460 --> 00:16:04.899 Jesus facing a challenge that he had, but it 00:16:04.899 --> 00:16:08.039 shows the boldness of Christ. And another one, another guy said, 00:16:48.809 --> 00:16:50.850 yeah, I was raised Baptist and I used to go to 00:16:50.850 --> 00:16:52.509 church and it was kind of cool the way they were 00:16:52.509 --> 00:16:54.710 chatting. But what was neat was I hung the picture 00:16:54.710 --> 00:16:56.889 on the wall and I left it. Now the house is torn 00:16:56.889 --> 00:16:59.190 apart. I mean, there's walls being torn down, 00:16:59.370 --> 00:17:01.370 there's floor. being torn up, the cabinets being 00:17:01.370 --> 00:17:03.289 torn apart, all these things are happening, but 00:17:03.289 --> 00:17:05.789 in the middle of all that I had a wonderful picture 00:17:05.789 --> 00:17:08.319 of Jesus on the wall. The very next day when 00:17:08.319 --> 00:17:11.279 I came in, it was peaceful and quiet. We could 00:17:11.279 --> 00:17:13.480 hear the machines operating and the guys talking 00:17:13.480 --> 00:17:15.700 and whatever. But there was this wonderful sense 00:17:15.700 --> 00:17:18.559 of peace in the room. And I just walked up to 00:17:18.559 --> 00:17:20.259 one guy and said, how's things going? It must 00:17:20.259 --> 00:17:22.220 be going well. He says, yeah, ever since you 00:17:22.220 --> 00:17:24.380 put that picture up, we're just kind of thinking 00:17:24.380 --> 00:17:26.420 different now. Well, see, that's what we need 00:17:26.420 --> 00:17:28.880 to do. We need to envision a picture of Jesus. 00:17:29.480 --> 00:17:32.079 Envision Jesus being filled with the Holy Spirit 00:17:32.079 --> 00:17:35.039 and receiving the joy of the Lord. And that will 00:17:35.039 --> 00:17:37.480 help carry us through all of our trials. Matter 00:17:37.480 --> 00:17:39.880 of fact, I left that picture up during the entire 00:17:39.880 --> 00:17:42.240 time of the construction. And through that entire 00:17:42.240 --> 00:17:44.779 time, I didn't hear any cursing. I didn't see 00:17:44.779 --> 00:17:47.000 any arguments. People were showing up to work 00:17:47.000 --> 00:17:48.940 on time. They were getting their work completed. 00:17:49.099 --> 00:17:53.759 So I guess Jesus became the watchman on the wall 00:17:53.759 --> 00:17:56.359 who was there just kind of overseeing what was 00:17:56.359 --> 00:17:58.160 going on. Now some people say, well, it was just 00:17:58.160 --> 00:18:00.279 a picture. No, it wasn't just a picture. It was 00:18:00.279 --> 00:18:02.920 a picture of Jesus. But the Holy Spirit was in 00:18:02.920 --> 00:18:05.579 the house, was there because we invited him in. 00:18:05.609 --> 00:18:07.750 and to help them, to help these guys, and the 00:18:07.750 --> 00:18:10.529 whole thing changed. The atmosphere, the construction 00:18:10.529 --> 00:18:12.710 changed, and I just give God glory and credit 00:18:12.710 --> 00:18:14.609 for that. Now, some might say, well, that doesn't 00:18:14.609 --> 00:18:16.650 really apply to this. I think it applies to it 00:18:16.650 --> 00:18:18.970 tremendously. When we keep our eyes upon Jesus, 00:18:19.230 --> 00:18:22.269 the things of this world will grow dim. They'll 00:18:22.269 --> 00:18:24.609 fade away, and that's what we need to do. Now, 00:18:24.829 --> 00:18:28.140 joy... is a decision that we make in both good 00:18:28.140 --> 00:18:30.319 times and bad times. We have to decide whether 00:18:30.319 --> 00:18:32.380 they're going to be joyful or not. Our circumstances 00:18:32.380 --> 00:18:34.640 will try to take our joy. There's no question 00:18:34.640 --> 00:18:38.099 about that. Joy is determined on what we focus 00:18:38.099 --> 00:18:41.039 on. If we focus on Jesus, if we focus on the 00:18:41.039 --> 00:18:43.359 Holy Spirit, if we focus on God's Word, then 00:18:43.359 --> 00:18:45.960 joy will become more prominent in our life. Joy 00:18:45.960 --> 00:18:49.940 is determined by claiming it in our prayers and 00:18:49.940 --> 00:18:52.920 claiming the promises of God that joy does come 00:18:52.920 --> 00:18:55.380 in the morning and that's That's really a way 00:18:55.380 --> 00:18:58.259 of life. We've got to understand that joy is 00:18:58.259 --> 00:19:00.500 a decision. No matter what we're going through, 00:19:00.740 --> 00:19:03.660 joy is a decision, and the Holy Spirit can give 00:19:03.660 --> 00:19:06.019 us the fruit of the Spirit, which is love and 00:19:06.019 --> 00:19:09.230 joy and peace, and help us to walk in joy. We 00:19:09.230 --> 00:19:12.170 need to focus our thoughts on what we read in 00:19:12.170 --> 00:19:14.369 Philippians chapter 4 and verse 8. Listen to 00:19:14.369 --> 00:19:16.950 this. The Apostle Paul, once again, I'm going 00:19:16.950 --> 00:19:18.789 to paraphrase it a little bit. Basically what 00:19:18.789 --> 00:19:21.690 Paul said in Philippians chapter 4 verse 8, he 00:19:21.690 --> 00:19:24.750 says, think on what is true and honorable and 00:19:24.750 --> 00:19:27.829 right and pure and lovely and admirable. So if 00:19:27.829 --> 00:19:30.410 we want to focus our thoughts on what is right, 00:19:30.670 --> 00:19:33.609 then we can have joy. If we focus our thoughts 00:19:33.609 --> 00:19:36.029 on what is honorable and what's true, what's 00:19:36.009 --> 00:19:38.690 pure and what's lovely and what's admirable, 00:19:39.009 --> 00:19:41.829 then we will tend to have greater joy in our 00:19:41.829 --> 00:19:44.809 life. And so I hope that example helps you and 00:19:44.809 --> 00:19:47.809 blesses you. We lose our joy when we take our 00:19:47.809 --> 00:19:50.410 eyes off of God's Word, when we stop praying, 00:19:50.630 --> 00:19:53.809 when we start complaining, when we stop helping 00:19:53.809 --> 00:19:56.730 others, when we stop being faithful to the house 00:19:56.730 --> 00:19:59.750 of God and being faithful to reading at least 00:19:59.750 --> 00:20:01.890 some of God's Word each and every day of our 00:20:01.890 --> 00:20:05.119 life. Those are things that we need to not do, 00:20:05.259 --> 00:20:07.240 not allow to happen in our life, is to take our 00:20:07.240 --> 00:20:09.960 eyes off of the things of God. When we focus 00:20:09.960 --> 00:20:13.839 on things like me, myself, and I, then we can 00:20:13.839 --> 00:20:17.039 lose our joy because we wrapped up in self. And 00:20:17.039 --> 00:20:19.380 the fruit of the Spirit is self -control. And 00:20:19.380 --> 00:20:21.900 so we need that in order to be able to operate 00:20:21.900 --> 00:20:24.559 with joy in our life, being led by the Holy Spirit. 00:20:24.670 --> 00:20:27.309 Now, you know, I cannot close. You say, I'm 00:20:58.619 --> 00:21:00.859 blessed and highly favored by God. That should 00:21:00.859 --> 00:21:03.319 be a Christian's standard response to people. 00:21:03.380 --> 00:21:05.500 How you doing? I'm blessed and highly favored. 00:21:06.079 --> 00:21:09.000 There are times when the answer to my question 00:21:09.000 --> 00:21:12.099 of how are you doing comes up with comments like 00:21:12.099 --> 00:21:15.759 well I'm still breathing or I'm still above ground 00:21:15.759 --> 00:21:19.140 or I'm still able to eat and things like that 00:21:19.140 --> 00:21:21.500 which basically are the basic things in life 00:21:21.500 --> 00:21:24.799 that that we should be thankful for but we don't. 00:21:24.890 --> 00:21:27.089 respond with, how are you doing? And you say 00:21:27.089 --> 00:21:29.269 something like that. Well, I'm still above ground. 00:21:29.269 --> 00:21:32.509 I'm not dead yet.
