Amen. 00:00:58.039 --> 00:01:00.600 The scriptures tell us that God is the source 00:01:00.600 --> 00:01:03.820 of every gift or promise that Christians can 00:01:03.820 --> 00:01:05.959 ever receive. Matter of fact, every perfect and 00:01:05.959 --> 00:01:07.980 precious gift that we receive comes from the 00:01:07.980 --> 00:01:10.939 Father. In James chapter 1 verse 17, the New 00:01:10.939 --> 00:01:13.700 International Version says this, every good and 00:01:13.700 --> 00:01:17.120 perfect gift is from above. In 1 Corinthians 00:01:17.120 --> 00:01:20.099 chapter 12 and verse 4, in the New Living Translation, 00:01:20.140 --> 00:01:22.459 it says, there are different kinds of spiritual 00:01:22.459 --> 00:01:25.120 gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them 00:01:25.120 --> 00:01:27.409 all. And then in 1 Corinthians chapter 12 and 00:01:27.409 --> 00:01:31.409 verse 11 it tells us that the only the Holy Spirit 00:01:31.409 --> 00:01:33.489 distributes all the gifts of the Spirit. What 00:01:33.489 --> 00:01:35.569 that means is that the only way that we can receive 00:01:35.569 --> 00:01:37.569 these spiritual gifts is when the Holy Spirit 00:01:37.569 --> 00:01:40.510 decides how to distribute them and who's going 00:01:40.510 --> 00:01:43.469 to receive which gifts and it's his complete 00:01:43.469 --> 00:01:45.609 control and that's what the Word of God tells 00:01:45.609 --> 00:01:47.930 us and that's what Paul is teaching those in 00:01:47.930 --> 00:01:49.709 the Church of Corinth because they were having 00:01:49.709 --> 00:01:51.469 a lot of confusion about the gifts. They didn't 00:01:51.469 --> 00:01:53.790 understand what was taking place and so he stepped 00:01:53.790 --> 00:01:55.480 in there to teach them and and help them and 00:01:55.480 --> 00:01:57.599 give them great instruction. So I would certainly 00:01:57.599 --> 00:02:00.000 encourage you to get the Word of God out and 00:02:00.000 --> 00:02:02.879 read 1 Corinthians chapter 12, chapter 13, chapter 00:02:02.879 --> 00:02:05.219 14. I've mentioned it in a prior podcast, but 00:02:05.219 --> 00:02:08.120 it's so important that we read what the Word 00:02:08.120 --> 00:02:10.259 of God has to say and what Paul said, because 00:02:10.259 --> 00:02:12.479 remember his words were inspired by the Holy 00:02:12.479 --> 00:02:15.000 Spirit and he's talking because of the Holy Spirit 00:02:15.000 --> 00:02:17.500 speaking through him. He's teaching and edifying 00:02:17.500 --> 00:02:19.780 us to understand how the gifts of the Spirit 00:02:19.780 --> 00:02:22.939 operate in every Christian who desires to have 00:02:22.939 --> 00:02:25.990 them. Now we know that the source of the nine 00:02:25.990 --> 00:02:29.150 power gifts and all of the gifts from the Holy 00:02:29.150 --> 00:02:31.610 Spirit, the source is God. And the Holy Spirit 00:02:31.610 --> 00:02:33.210 is the one that delivers them to us. Here are 00:02:33.210 --> 00:02:37.389 the nine power gifts. But first, why are they 00:02:37.389 --> 00:02:40.569 called power gifts? Well, they are supernatural. 00:02:40.930 --> 00:02:44.490 They are God's gifts. They are great gifts and 00:02:44.490 --> 00:02:47.310 they're designed to help believers and have believers 00:02:47.310 --> 00:02:50.349 be able to help others. These gifts help us to 00:02:50.349 --> 00:02:53.150 receive the answers for difficult needs or impossible 00:02:53.150 --> 00:02:56.629 circumstances. They are given to increase our 00:02:56.629 --> 00:02:59.289 faith. I'm not sure a lot of people think about 00:02:59.289 --> 00:03:00.949 the Holy Spirit that way, that it's going to 00:03:00.949 --> 00:03:03.449 be a way to increase our faith and our trust 00:03:03.449 --> 00:03:05.550 in God. It's going to be a blessing to give us 00:03:05.550 --> 00:03:07.530 more confidence in God's word. It's going to 00:03:07.530 --> 00:03:10.050 help us in every aspect of our life. Now see, I know I'm talking 00:04:22.009 --> 00:04:23.949 a little more about that than I probably would, 00:04:23.970 --> 00:04:25.790 but I think it's important that we understand 00:04:25.790 --> 00:04:28.189 that because sometimes I've heard teaching from 00:04:28.189 --> 00:04:29.730 people that just say, well, I'm going to get 00:04:29.730 --> 00:04:31.370 this gift and I'm going to get that gift and 00:04:31.370 --> 00:04:33.509 I prayed with this guy and he gave me this and 00:04:33.509 --> 00:04:35.670 he gave me that. No, that is not scripturally 00:04:35.670 --> 00:04:37.850 sound. The Word of God tells us very clearly 00:04:37.850 --> 00:04:40.170 that it's only the Holy Spirit who distributes 00:04:40.170 --> 00:04:42.509 the gifts for those that he chooses and the gifts 00:04:42.509 --> 00:04:45.589 that he chooses to use. All of these gifts have 00:04:45.589 --> 00:04:48.189 a purpose. Now let's stop for for a second. Every 00:04:48.189 --> 00:04:50.189 single gift has a purpose. It's not to make us 00:04:50.189 --> 00:04:52.470 just feel better. It's not to let us tell other 00:04:52.470 --> 00:04:54.430 people, oh by the way I've got the gift of tongues 00:04:54.430 --> 00:04:56.470 and I've got the gift of interpretation or I've 00:04:56.470 --> 00:04:58.470 got the gift of prophecy. They're wonderful and 00:04:58.470 --> 00:05:00.529 that's glorious, but it's not for us to boast. 00:05:00.589 --> 00:05:02.810 It's not for us to tell other people and to try 00:05:02.810 --> 00:05:04.389 and get other people to think that maybe we have 00:05:04.389 --> 00:05:06.410 something more important than they have. No, 00:05:06.410 --> 00:05:08.769 these gifts are given by the Holy Spirit to people 00:05:08.769 --> 00:05:11.689 who yield to the power of God and put the Holy 00:05:11.689 --> 00:05:15.370 Spirit first in their walk. They are not gifts 00:05:15.370 --> 00:05:19.040 for us to use any way that we choose or any way 00:05:19.040 --> 00:05:21.800 that we desire. The Holy Spirit tells us how 00:05:21.800 --> 00:05:23.560 they should be used and what direction they should 00:05:23.560 --> 00:05:25.680 be used. And once again, I need to emphasize 00:05:25.680 --> 00:05:28.779 that if you have not read 1 Corinthians chapter 00:05:28.779 --> 00:05:31.860 12, chapter 13, and chapter 14 in the New Living 00:05:31.860 --> 00:05:34.180 International or in NIV, whichever translation 00:05:34.180 --> 00:05:36.360 you like, I think if you haven't read that yet, 00:05:36.379 --> 00:05:39.120 you need to read that and read it over and over 00:05:39.120 --> 00:05:41.379 again and listen to what Paul says about how 00:05:41.379 --> 00:05:43.500 the gifts should be used and in what way they're 00:05:43.500 --> 00:05:45.480 right and in what way they're not being used 00:05:45.480 --> 00:05:47.720 properly. And so it's important that we understand 00:05:47.720 --> 00:05:49.839 that. So I want to make sure that that's solid 00:05:49.839 --> 00:05:53.000 and we need to understand that before we can 00:05:53.000 --> 00:05:55.759 continue on this particular podcast on the nine. 00:05:56.029 --> 00:05:58.050 power, gifts of the Holy Spirit. Here's a great 00:05:58.050 --> 00:06:00.410 scripture that Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians chapter 00:06:00.410 --> 00:06:03.509 12 and verse number 7. He says, the manifestation 00:06:03.509 --> 00:06:07.250 of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit 00:06:07.250 --> 00:06:09.870 of all. So when the Holy Spirit comes forward 00:06:09.870 --> 00:06:12.269 in a church service or in a Bible study or just 00:06:12.269 --> 00:06:15.089 between a husband and wife or just simply you 00:06:15.089 --> 00:06:17.870 seeking God's presence and his guidance and direction 00:06:17.870 --> 00:06:20.430 and he speaks to you through the Spirit of his 00:06:20.430 --> 00:06:24.470 Spirit, it's given for the benefit of the profit 00:06:24.470 --> 00:06:27.680 of all Christians, and it's not to be used for 00:06:27.680 --> 00:06:29.980 one person for some kind of special interest 00:06:29.980 --> 00:06:33.500 or some special purpose. Now after this podcast, 00:06:33.540 --> 00:06:36.139 I'm going to cover each gift in greater detail, 00:06:36.139 --> 00:06:38.399 but I want to take a little time now, kind of 00:06:38.399 --> 00:06:41.279 introduce all of the gifts and talk about just 00:06:41.279 --> 00:06:42.959 some general statements I think that we're going 00:06:42.959 --> 00:06:45.540 to learn as we go through this continued teaching 00:06:45.540 --> 00:06:48.079 on this series on the Holy Spirit. So let's get 00:06:48.079 --> 00:06:50.079 into them right now. Let me just cover the nine 00:06:50.079 --> 00:06:53.100 gifts. As we move through them, I'll ask the 00:06:53.100 --> 00:06:54.899 Holy Spirit to guide and direct me as to how 00:06:54.899 --> 00:06:57.220 much I say, or whether I go quickly, or whether 00:06:57.220 --> 00:06:59.339 he wants me to have something special for each 00:06:59.339 --> 00:07:01.779 and every one of you. The first gift listed in 00:07:01.779 --> 00:07:04.259 the Word of God is wisdom. That's the ability 00:07:04.259 --> 00:07:08.379 to understand and clarify for others what God's 00:07:08.379 --> 00:07:12.639 Word says, what is false or what is true in spiritual... 00:07:12.879 --> 00:07:15.920 Teaching it's it's wonderful to have someone 00:07:15.920 --> 00:07:18.319 with the gift of wisdom and wisdom in your prayer 00:07:18.319 --> 00:07:20.560 group or in your obviously in your church We 00:07:20.560 --> 00:07:22.839 should have people with that gift because they 00:07:22.839 --> 00:07:26.180 are placed there to help us to Bless us to profit 00:07:26.180 --> 00:07:28.339 all of us is what that's other scripture said 00:07:28.339 --> 00:07:30.959 first Corinthians chapter 12 verse 7 So we need 00:07:30.959 --> 00:07:33.560 to understand that wisdom is gives us the ability. 00:07:33.560 --> 00:07:35.740 It's not a nothing that we've learned in school 00:07:35.740 --> 00:07:37.699 It's not from a book that we've read although 00:07:37.699 --> 00:07:39.879 those things can be good They can be good tools 00:07:39.879 --> 00:07:42.220 and things that help us, but it's the ability 00:07:52.719 --> 00:07:55.360 All right, we're gonna move on now. The next 00:07:55.360 --> 00:07:59.060 gift is known as knowledge, and that means to 00:07:59.060 --> 00:08:02.959 know something we do not know based on our knowledge, 00:08:03.180 --> 00:08:06.259 or based on our teaching, or based on our education. 00:08:06.500 --> 00:08:09.600 Now, those are all good things, but our education 00:08:09.600 --> 00:08:13.199 is not always... you know, centered on the spiritual 00:08:13.199 --> 00:08:14.839 things. There's things that we have to learn 00:08:14.839 --> 00:08:17.040 in school that don't have a whole lot of spiritual 00:08:17.040 --> 00:08:19.860 content to them. And those are the things that 00:08:19.860 --> 00:08:22.079 will not give us spiritual knowledge or give 00:08:22.079 --> 00:08:24.199 us spiritual wisdom. So we've got to understand 00:08:24.199 --> 00:08:25.879 the difference between the two. You know, some 00:08:25.879 --> 00:08:27.220 people will come up to me and say, oh, that guy 00:08:27.220 --> 00:08:28.839 is really smart. He's really bright. I bet you 00:08:28.839 --> 00:08:30.920 he's really understand the Word of the God and 00:08:30.920 --> 00:08:33.419 he can do this and do that. And that's not necessarily 00:08:33.419 --> 00:08:37.279 true. I've seen people with extremely low education. 00:08:37.360 --> 00:08:39.299 I mean, they didn't have a degree. Many of them 00:08:39.299 --> 00:08:41.779 didn't even go to high school. but they are so 00:08:41.779 --> 00:08:43.980 learned in the Word of God and they have received 00:08:43.980 --> 00:08:47.279 an anointing of wisdom and knowledge through 00:08:47.279 --> 00:08:49.480 the gifts of the Spirit to be able to teach on 00:08:49.480 --> 00:08:51.980 any topic, any subject you can even imagine. 00:08:52.080 --> 00:08:54.580 So I think that's something we need to remember 00:08:54.580 --> 00:08:57.919 that it's not by might or not by power but by 00:08:57.919 --> 00:09:00.360 Spirit says the Lord. That's what the Word of 00:09:00.360 --> 00:09:02.879 God tells us. Now in 1 Corinthians chapter 2 00:09:02.879 --> 00:09:05.820 and verse 10 it says this in the New Living Translation, 00:09:06.320 --> 00:09:09.850 His Spirit searches out everything. and shows 00:09:09.850 --> 00:09:13.350 us God's deep secrets. Now, that's knowledge. 00:09:13.649 --> 00:09:16.529 That is the depth of spiritual knowledge. Let's 00:09:16.529 --> 00:09:18.409 read that scripture again, just very carefully, 00:09:18.509 --> 00:09:21.230 and I'll think about it. His spirit searches 00:09:21.230 --> 00:09:24.590 out everything. That means he knows everything. 00:09:24.870 --> 00:09:26.990 And if he's ever asked a question, he's got the 00:09:26.990 --> 00:09:28.870 answer to all of it. He searches out everything 00:09:28.870 --> 00:09:32.570 and shows us God's deep secrets, the deep things 00:09:32.570 --> 00:09:34.590 of God. You know, there's been times that I've 00:09:34.590 --> 00:09:36.769 been praying and seeking the Lord and the Holy 00:09:36.769 --> 00:09:39.450 Spirit moves upon me and I can just feel it. 00:09:39.610 --> 00:09:42.850 power of God operating and the Lord is telling 00:09:42.850 --> 00:09:45.950 me to do this or go in this direction and it 00:09:45.950 --> 00:09:48.110 usually is something to help somebody that's 00:09:48.110 --> 00:09:50.330 in need in their home or need in their marriage 00:09:50.330 --> 00:09:52.850 or someone that just needs a phone call. That's 00:09:52.850 --> 00:09:56.090 something that the Holy Spirit gives us and those 00:09:56.090 --> 00:09:58.610 are things where God understands what the need 00:09:58.610 --> 00:10:00.830 is. He also understands what the solution to 00:10:00.830 --> 00:10:03.230 that need is and then he speaks to us through 00:10:03.230 --> 00:10:06.129 the Spirit of God that lives and dwells inside 00:10:06.129 --> 00:10:08.990 of us to give us the gifts of wisdom and knowledge. 00:10:08.970 --> 00:10:12.649 to be a benefit to the church. Now our lives 00:10:12.649 --> 00:10:14.750 are going to be blessed. I'm not saying that 00:10:14.750 --> 00:10:17.129 these things don't bless us. You know, I really 00:10:17.129 --> 00:10:19.090 believe the gifts of the Spirit are kind of like 00:10:19.090 --> 00:10:22.789 a large piece of conduit where we are open. We're 00:10:22.789 --> 00:10:25.210 the conduit. And the Holy Spirit comes in with 00:10:25.210 --> 00:10:27.470 a blessing. He's got wisdom. He's got knowledge. 00:10:27.549 --> 00:10:29.690 He's got the deep things of God. He's got all 00:10:29.690 --> 00:10:32.129 these things for us. He wants to help us to understand 00:10:32.129 --> 00:10:33.909 what the Word of God says. He wants to help us 00:10:33.909 --> 00:10:36.210 to understand who's a false teacher and who is 00:10:36.210 --> 00:10:39.409 a true teacher, what true spiritual truth is 00:10:39.409 --> 00:10:41.590 all about and all that's for us and he pours 00:10:41.590 --> 00:10:44.490 it into a conduit that we receive and that conduit 00:10:44.490 --> 00:10:46.929 goes through us and blesses us and edifies us 00:10:46.929 --> 00:10:49.370 and helps us and draws us closer to God and builds 00:10:49.370 --> 00:10:52.450 our faith and does so much for us and then like 00:10:52.450 --> 00:10:54.789 a conduit it goes out through us and matter of 00:10:54.789 --> 00:10:56.490 fact there's so much that comes to us that it 00:10:56.490 --> 00:10:58.889 flows from us to other people you know we are 00:10:58.889 --> 00:11:02.529 blessed to profit others also You know, the same 00:11:02.529 --> 00:11:04.289 thing applies to our finances. Now, I know this 00:11:04.289 --> 00:11:08.149 is not a lesson or a podcast on finances, but 00:11:08.149 --> 00:11:10.549 when we're blessed, God intends it to be a blessing 00:11:10.549 --> 00:11:13.169 for us, but he also intends it to be a blessing 00:11:13.169 --> 00:11:15.529 for others. We're to use what we have to take 00:11:15.529 --> 00:11:17.750 care of what we need, and he'll give us an abundance 00:11:17.750 --> 00:11:19.690 of blessings, whether it be financial, whether 00:11:19.690 --> 00:11:22.049 it be spiritual, whether it be health, to reach 00:11:22.049 --> 00:11:24.389 out and bless someone else. That's how the Holy 00:11:24.389 --> 00:11:27.090 Spirit operates. We'll get into these too in 00:11:27.090 --> 00:11:29.970 detail in upcoming podcasts, but I just think 00:11:29.970 --> 00:11:33.360 it's important to and understand that this kind 00:11:33.360 --> 00:11:35.879 of knowledge and this kind of faith is truly 00:11:35.879 --> 00:11:39.299 spiritual, supernatural spiritual. Okay, now 00:11:39.299 --> 00:11:42.580 the next one that's listed here is faith, wisdom, 00:11:43.019 --> 00:11:45.600 knowledge, then faith. It says it's the gift, 00:11:45.620 --> 00:11:47.539 this is what I've written down. The gift of faith 00:11:47.539 --> 00:11:50.480 is having trust in God for something you cannot 00:11:50.480 --> 00:11:52.820 accomplish. It's having faith for something that 00:11:52.820 --> 00:11:55.799 you can't see. It's calling for something that's 00:11:55.799 --> 00:11:58.580 not as though that it is. And yet the Bible tells 00:11:58.580 --> 00:12:00.769 us that faith is substance. That means you can 00:12:00.769 --> 00:12:02.929 reach out and grab a hold of it. It's evidence. 00:12:03.190 --> 00:12:05.490 It means it's proof that something has happened. 00:12:05.690 --> 00:12:08.029 Faith is something that you believe or you don't 00:12:08.029 --> 00:12:09.610 believe. Now, some people come to me and they 00:12:09.610 --> 00:12:11.990 say, Pastor, I need more help with my faith. 00:12:12.149 --> 00:12:14.049 I'm struggling with my faith. And I like to stop 00:12:14.049 --> 00:12:15.950 them and say, no, you have faith. They'll say, 00:12:16.029 --> 00:12:17.970 I don't have any faith, and it's so weak. And 00:12:17.970 --> 00:12:19.330 I'm going to say, no, no, no, that's not true. 00:12:19.549 --> 00:12:22.049 God has given all of us a measure of faith. And 00:12:22.049 --> 00:12:23.950 you're a Christian. You follow Jesus Christ as 00:12:23.950 --> 00:12:25.769 your Lord and Savior because of the faith that 00:12:25.769 --> 00:12:28.419 you had to believe with the Holy Spirit. told 00:12:28.419 --> 00:12:30.659 you to draw you into a relationship with Jesus 00:12:30.659 --> 00:12:33.120 Christ. So most of us have greater faith than 00:12:33.120 --> 00:12:36.379 what we imagine is possible, and we need to understand 00:12:36.379 --> 00:12:38.940 that the Holy Spirit is there to give us greater 00:12:38.940 --> 00:12:42.019 faith. The gift of faith, in my words, is having 00:12:42.019 --> 00:12:45.700 trust in God for something you cannot accomplish 00:12:45.700 --> 00:12:47.639 on your own. All right, let's go to the next 00:12:47.639 --> 00:12:50.740 one now. Healing. Now this gift is the anointing 00:12:50.740 --> 00:12:53.720 of the Holy Spirit to believers, and it's to 00:12:53.720 --> 00:12:55.779 help them to know and understand that healing 00:12:55.779 --> 00:12:58.179 is about to take place. And that healing will 00:12:58.179 --> 00:13:01.220 be for both physical and emotional needs. Now, as a new Christian, I wouldn't say 00:13:07.519 --> 00:13:09.460 anything. I'd kind of hope they understood and 00:13:09.460 --> 00:13:11.259 I wouldn't say anything. But then as I tried 00:13:11.259 --> 00:13:12.879 to get closer to the Lord, I started reading 00:13:12.879 --> 00:13:15.580 Paul's teachings. I discovered that when the 00:13:15.580 --> 00:13:18.159 Holy Spirit moves upon me and I pray for someone 00:13:18.159 --> 00:13:20.419 and he shows me that the gift of healing that 00:13:20.419 --> 00:13:23.549 he's placed in me is being... poured out upon 00:13:23.549 --> 00:13:25.370 these people, and these people are receiving 00:13:25.370 --> 00:13:27.250 their healing, and I can remember a lady once 00:13:27.250 --> 00:13:29.590 that had a terrible problem, a diabetic problem, 00:13:29.769 --> 00:13:31.929 and she came up to me and she said, I'm just 00:13:31.929 --> 00:13:33.509 suffering with this, it's getting worse. I said, 00:13:33.629 --> 00:13:35.409 why don't we just believe that God will heal 00:13:35.409 --> 00:13:38.470 it? And so we prayed, and at the end of that, 00:13:38.549 --> 00:13:40.450 the Holy Spirit impressed upon me, tell her that 00:13:40.450 --> 00:13:42.730 she's healed, go to the doctor, get it confirmed, 00:13:42.990 --> 00:13:45.370 but she has been healed. The power of the Lord 00:13:45.370 --> 00:13:48.029 Jesus Christ came through the Holy Spirit to 00:13:48.029 --> 00:13:50.750 me, and the Holy Spirit then gave me... that 00:13:50.750 --> 00:13:53.309 opportunity to pray for healing for this person. 00:13:53.549 --> 00:13:55.830 She went to the doctor. She came back about a 00:13:55.830 --> 00:13:58.070 week later and told me that she was completely 00:13:58.070 --> 00:14:00.730 healed and restored. Now to God be the glory. 00:14:01.009 --> 00:14:03.490 To God receive all that honor and praise for 00:14:03.490 --> 00:14:06.049 what he did in that situation. This is a gift that is far beyond 00:14:15.570 --> 00:14:18.870 human understanding. It's It's way beyond our 00:14:18.870 --> 00:14:21.570 understanding. Science cannot explain it. Science 00:14:21.570 --> 00:14:24.269 has no way to understand it because the scientist 00:14:24.269 --> 00:14:27.070 is looking at what they feel they understand 00:14:27.070 --> 00:14:28.690 and what they've created. They're not leaning 00:14:28.690 --> 00:14:31.929 towards what God says that can take place in 00:14:31.929 --> 00:14:34.769 people's lives. And so it's a gift that is far 00:14:34.769 --> 00:14:37.629 beyond what we've ever learned or we've ever 00:14:37.629 --> 00:14:40.570 experienced in our experiences, or in our education, 00:14:40.629 --> 00:14:42.690 or wherever it might be. And here's a scripture 00:14:42.690 --> 00:14:44.629 I think that kind of helps us understand miracles. 00:14:44.809 --> 00:14:47.149 It's found in Ephesians chapter 3 and verse 20. 00:14:47.409 --> 00:14:50.750 It says, Now to him who is able to do exceedingly 00:14:50.750 --> 00:14:53.610 abundantly above all that we ask or think. You 00:14:53.610 --> 00:14:56.730 see, to him be the glory. Because God is able 00:14:56.730 --> 00:15:01.549 to do in us more than we can imagine. Exceedingly 00:15:01.549 --> 00:15:05.820 abundantly above. all that we can ask or even 00:15:05.820 --> 00:15:08.480 think about. Now, I've heard people preach about 00:15:08.480 --> 00:15:10.639 this and say, I'm a big thinker, I think big. 00:15:10.820 --> 00:15:12.820 Well, it doesn't matter how big you think God's 00:15:12.820 --> 00:15:16.039 bigger. It doesn't matter what we have in our 00:15:16.039 --> 00:15:18.720 background and all that, God is able to do exceedingly 00:15:18.720 --> 00:15:21.500 abundantly more than all of that. And that's 00:15:21.500 --> 00:15:24.320 called a miracle. I just believe that. I had 00:15:24.320 --> 00:15:26.840 my kidneys healed when I was 25 years of age. 00:15:26.879 --> 00:15:29.419 It was a miracle. The doctor told me, you've 00:15:29.419 --> 00:15:31.399 only got a short time to live. Your kidneys are 00:15:31.399 --> 00:15:33.399 failing. And this was many, many, many years 00:15:33.399 --> 00:15:36.159 ago when kidney transplants were brand new. And 00:15:36.159 --> 00:15:37.840 he said, you would never survive one. You have 00:15:37.840 --> 00:15:40.159 a terrible blood condition. You just would not 00:15:40.159 --> 00:15:42.179 survive the surgery. And so he said, just go 00:15:42.179 --> 00:15:44.299 home, take care of your situations, and just 00:15:44.299 --> 00:15:46.259 go from there. Well, I got home, started reading 00:15:46.259 --> 00:15:48.679 the Bible about healings and miracles and the 00:15:48.679 --> 00:15:50.559 gifts of the spirit. And my wife and I I prayed 00:15:50.559 --> 00:15:53.139 and we started believing that God was gonna give 00:15:53.139 --> 00:15:56.000 me that miracle and heal my kidneys. And so about 00:15:56.000 --> 00:15:57.700 six months later, I was supposed to go back to 00:15:57.700 --> 00:15:59.779 the doctor. So I went to see him. He looked at 00:15:59.779 --> 00:16:01.879 me and he said, I just ran all your tests and 00:16:01.879 --> 00:16:03.679 what have you been doing? And I said, well, we've 00:16:03.679 --> 00:16:06.000 been praying, trusting God and drinking a lot 00:16:06.000 --> 00:16:07.860 of water. He said, well, drinking a lot of water 00:16:07.860 --> 00:16:10.240 is great. He said, just praying, that's all else 00:16:10.240 --> 00:16:11.860 you've done? We said, well, that seems to be 00:16:11.860 --> 00:16:13.779 all we've needed, right? You just said, I'm fine. 00:16:13.820 --> 00:16:17.120 He says, you are completely healed. totally restored. 00:16:17.320 --> 00:16:19.480 Your kidneys are perfectly normal. You don't 00:16:19.480 --> 00:16:21.379 need any surgery. You don't need any treatments. 00:16:21.539 --> 00:16:23.679 That was a miracle that came into my life. I 00:16:23.679 --> 00:16:26.659 was a brand new Christian, 25 years of age, and 00:16:26.659 --> 00:16:29.240 the Holy Spirit moved in such a powerful way 00:16:29.240 --> 00:16:32.919 that He gave me that gift to believe for my miracle. 00:16:33.120 --> 00:16:36.179 And that was a gift that I could extend to myself. 00:16:36.399 --> 00:16:38.100 Some people say, well, isn't that kind of selfish? 00:16:38.159 --> 00:16:39.840 No, it's not. And so therefore, 00:16:45.299 --> 00:16:48.100 we can be blessed when we experience the gifts 00:16:48.100 --> 00:16:50.779 of wisdom knowledge faith healing and miracles 00:16:50.779 --> 00:16:54.139 and they do bless us and we should receive those 00:16:54.139 --> 00:16:56.759 and that's not person that's not selfish that's 00:16:56.759 --> 00:16:59.340 not self -centered that's just operating how 00:16:59.340 --> 00:17:01.100 the Holy Spirit wants to operate in our lives 00:17:01.100 --> 00:17:03.820 okay here's another one of the gifts prophecy 00:17:03.820 --> 00:17:07.339 in first Corinthians chapter 14 verse 39 it tells 00:17:07.339 --> 00:17:10.730 us about the word this word prophecy comes from 00:17:10.730 --> 00:17:13.369 God and it's to build up others. It has many 00:17:13.369 --> 00:17:15.250 uses and you know I can't really spend a lot 00:17:15.250 --> 00:17:18.450 of time on it now because it just deserves just 00:17:18.450 --> 00:17:22.289 complete attention because prophecy is so powerful. 00:17:22.539 --> 00:17:25.019 as one of the nine power gifts of the Holy Spirit 00:17:25.019 --> 00:17:27.680 and yet there are times when it's not really 00:17:27.680 --> 00:17:29.759 understood and there's people that think that 00:17:29.759 --> 00:17:32.319 they're a prophet and maybe they're not. They 00:17:32.319 --> 00:17:34.559 need to get guidance or maybe they are a prophet 00:17:34.559 --> 00:17:36.299 and they don't understand it and they're operating 00:17:36.299 --> 00:17:39.180 below what God intended for them. So if that's 00:17:39.180 --> 00:17:40.960 something you feel that you would like to see 00:17:40.960 --> 00:17:43.220 in your life then you need to talk to your pastor, 00:17:43.339 --> 00:17:45.680 to other people who understand the gifts of the 00:17:45.680 --> 00:17:48.339 Spirit and tune into our podcast and listen because 00:17:48.339 --> 00:17:53.009 we will cover in detail the gift of Here's another 00:17:53.009 --> 00:17:55.210 one, another one of the gifts of the spirit. 00:17:55.509 --> 00:17:58.769 Nine power gifts. Discernment of various spirits. 00:17:59.069 --> 00:18:02.609 Now this is not human intellect or suspicions. 00:18:02.789 --> 00:18:06.980 It is to help believers identify various spirits. 00:18:07.180 --> 00:18:10.119 Now I made a comment earlier in this that the 00:18:10.119 --> 00:18:13.259 discernment of the various spirits is those of 00:18:13.259 --> 00:18:16.160 good spirits and bad spirits and really that's 00:18:16.160 --> 00:18:18.940 how it operates. I mean I have had many occasions 00:18:18.940 --> 00:18:20.799 where someone's walked up to me and I can just 00:18:20.799 --> 00:18:23.480 sense their spirit is so powerful and just so 00:18:23.480 --> 00:18:25.539 strong and they were in agreement on something 00:18:25.539 --> 00:18:27.619 and I can also tell you when people come up to 00:18:27.619 --> 00:18:31.200 me and I think they're confused and they've been 00:18:31.200 --> 00:18:33.019 hearing some teaching that wasn't necessarily 00:18:33.019 --> 00:18:36.109 strong or possibly they were cooperating, you 00:18:36.109 --> 00:18:38.650 know, and not understanding what they're listening 00:18:38.650 --> 00:18:41.730 to and allowing other spiritual things to influence 00:18:41.730 --> 00:18:43.769 them. That's very dangerous. And I've had people 00:18:43.769 --> 00:18:45.730 that I've had to pray for and tell them that 00:18:45.730 --> 00:18:48.150 you have a spirit of this or a spirit of that 00:18:48.150 --> 00:18:50.049 and that's the Holy Spirit giving me that so 00:18:50.049 --> 00:18:52.089 that I can share that with them so that they 00:18:52.089 --> 00:18:56.210 can grow and draw closer to God and benefit and 00:18:56.210 --> 00:18:59.809 profit from the spiritual gift of discernment 00:18:59.809 --> 00:19:03.029 of various spirits. An example, let me give you 00:19:03.029 --> 00:19:06.109 an example of that. Spirit speaks to us with 00:19:06.109 --> 00:19:08.789 a warning or to be cautious about something. 00:19:08.990 --> 00:19:10.990 Have you ever go out to buy something like maybe 00:19:10.990 --> 00:19:13.250 a purchase a car or maybe in something not quite 00:19:13.250 --> 00:19:15.450 as big maybe some clothes or something and as 00:19:15.450 --> 00:19:17.430 you make the purchase on a credit card or you're 00:19:17.430 --> 00:19:19.230 going to use the last cash that you've got you 00:19:19.230 --> 00:19:21.349 have that still quiet voice inside of you that 00:19:21.349 --> 00:19:24.230 tells you no not now. That's the Holy Spirit 00:19:24.230 --> 00:19:26.789 telling you and directing you and telling you 00:19:26.789 --> 00:19:29.069 not to make a purchase that it's not going to 00:19:29.069 --> 00:19:31.240 be good for you. And a lot of times people say, 00:19:31.339 --> 00:19:32.799 well, you know, how come God doesn't bless me 00:19:32.799 --> 00:19:34.619 with this or bless me with that? Well, God knows 00:19:34.619 --> 00:19:36.640 better about what will bless us and what will 00:19:36.640 --> 00:19:39.680 not bless us. And the Holy Spirit is inside of 00:19:39.680 --> 00:19:42.279 us to help us to make these decisions. And we 00:19:42.279 --> 00:19:45.279 need to rely upon him to help us to have discernment 00:19:45.279 --> 00:19:48.160 of various spirits. Now we'll cover this in depth 00:19:48.160 --> 00:19:51.440 in an upcoming podcast. Here's the next power 00:19:51.440 --> 00:19:53.339 gift of the Holy Spirit, and that's tongues. 00:19:53.460 --> 00:19:56.859 And it's basically to speak, to pray, to even 00:19:56.859 --> 00:20:00.490 sing in a language unknown the one with the gift. 00:20:00.690 --> 00:20:03.029 So we'll talk a lot about that and it's something 00:20:03.029 --> 00:20:05.309 that I don't take very lightly but one that is 00:20:05.309 --> 00:20:07.450 crucial to my walk with God and our walk with 00:20:07.450 --> 00:20:10.150 God. And finally the interpretation of tongues. 00:20:10.269 --> 00:20:13.069 It's for someone to interpret an unknown tongue. 00:20:13.289 --> 00:20:15.630 This is one of the nine power gifts that's so 00:20:15.630 --> 00:20:18.109 crucial for the church to operate the way God 00:20:18.109 --> 00:20:20.529 intended to operate with the Holy Spirit involved 00:20:20.529 --> 00:20:23.529 in activities, services, Bible studies, whatever 00:20:23.529 --> 00:20:25.390 it might be. But we need to have them all come 00:20:25.390 --> 00:20:27.349 together. So all these we'll be studying. I won't 00:20:27.349 --> 00:20:29.250 repeat all of them because that would be kind 00:20:29.250 --> 00:20:31.789 of redundant, but I just want us to think about 00:20:31.789 --> 00:20:34.130 what areas that we're focused on and then be 00:20:34.130 --> 00:20:36.609 sure and listen in to all of these. The Holy 00:20:36.609 --> 00:20:38.950 Spirit is still operating through followers of 00:20:38.950 --> 00:20:42.490 Jesus Christ to perform these gifts today. I 00:20:42.490 --> 00:20:44.549 know I've heard people who teach that know that 00:20:44.549 --> 00:20:46.829 past when Jesus went to heaven, but that's just 00:20:46.829 --> 00:20:49.470 not true. The bird of God tells me that God is 00:20:49.470 --> 00:20:52.269 going to operate this way until Jesus comes back 00:20:52.269 --> 00:20:54.450 and claims his church. And even then there's 00:20:54.450 --> 00:20:56.109 going to be even greater things that take place. 00:20:56.109 --> 00:20:58.259 So let's just give all the God the glory for 00:20:58.259 --> 00:21:01.579 it and let's desire to operate the way the gifts 00:21:01.579 --> 00:21:04.599 want us to operate and to receive them. and have 00:21:04.599 --> 00:21:06.359 a willing heart and an open heart to receive 00:21:06.359 --> 00:21:08.380 what the Holy Spirit wants to do in and through 00:21:08.380 --> 00:21:10.539 us. So let me just pray for you. I'm sure there's 00:21:10.539 --> 00:21:13.220 some that would like to have a prayer to have 00:21:13.220 --> 00:21:15.480 prayer over these particular areas. Father, I 00:21:15.480 --> 00:21:17.579 know there's people who've listening today that 00:21:17.579 --> 00:21:20.079 they're really desiring to get the gift of prophecy 00:21:20.079 --> 00:21:23.200 or tongues interpretation or knowledge or healing 00:21:23.200 --> 00:21:25.319 or whatever it might be, Father. But I just pray, 00:21:25.319 --> 00:21:27.400 Lord, that you would bless them and help them 00:21:27.400 --> 00:21:29.779 to focus on what the Holy Spirit wants to do 00:21:29.779 --> 00:21:32.900 and to yield to the Holy Spirit and to ask him 00:21:32.900 --> 00:21:35.859 to do what he desires to do because that's what 00:21:35.859 --> 00:21:37.859 will be best for each and every one of us. I 00:21:37.859 --> 00:21:40.539 pray blessing upon those who are desiring to 00:21:40.539 --> 00:21:42.720 pray in their heavenly prayer language and that 00:21:42.720 --> 00:21:44.779 would expand their time for prayer and expand 00:21:44.779 --> 00:21:46.660 their, quite frankly, their closeness to the 00:21:46.660 --> 00:21:48.980 Lord. I pray blessing to be upon him and I pray 00:21:48.980 --> 00:21:50.799 that you would pour out your spirit, Father, 00:21:50.859 --> 00:21:53.240 on all flesh, Lord. And once again, Lord, we 00:21:53.240 --> 00:21:56.160 believe that you desire to operate in the gifts 00:21:56.160 --> 00:21:58.799 and you do that through the Holy Spirit and we 00:21:58.799 --> 00:22:01.539 can operate in these gifts as the Holy Spirit 00:22:01.539 --> 00:22:04.279 guides us, directs us, leads us and distributes 00:22:04.279 --> 00:22:06.279 these gifts.
