Well, the best advice 00:01:20.959 --> 00:01:23.200 I think that I can give you about understanding 00:01:23.200 --> 00:01:26.739 the gifts of the Spirit is to read and study 00:01:26.739 --> 00:01:29.680 the teaching of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 00:01:29.680 --> 00:01:33.260 chapters 12, 13, and 14. So those are powerful. 00:01:33.280 --> 00:01:35.299 I'm not going to read all of them on this podcast. 00:01:35.379 --> 00:01:37.420 That would not be of any value because you can 00:01:37.420 --> 00:01:40.099 always read it on your own. But the important 00:01:40.099 --> 00:01:42.900 thing to understand is that Paul was anointed, 00:01:43.099 --> 00:01:45.400 filled with power. The Holy Spirit touched him 00:01:45.400 --> 00:01:48.459 as he wrote so many incredible words in the Word 00:01:48.459 --> 00:01:51.250 of God. I'd like to suggest that if you have 00:01:51.250 --> 00:01:54.849 never studied Paul's Holy Spirit -led scriptures, 00:01:55.109 --> 00:01:57.590 that I strongly suggest that you do that as soon 00:01:57.590 --> 00:02:00.629 as possible. I suggest that anyone who desires 00:02:00.629 --> 00:02:03.409 to teach others about the gifts of the Spirit 00:02:03.409 --> 00:02:06.510 use Paul's lessons. So, crucial, once again, 00:02:06.829 --> 00:02:10.629 it's chapters 12, 13, and 14 in 1 Corinthians. 00:02:10.770 --> 00:02:13.129 I don't know what translation you use. I go back 00:02:13.129 --> 00:02:15.110 and forth from the New International Version 00:02:15.110 --> 00:02:17.810 and the New Living Translation. Some are using 00:02:17.810 --> 00:02:20.520 the message. Bible a lot today. Whatever speaks 00:02:20.520 --> 00:02:22.699 to you and blesses you, that's something that 00:02:22.699 --> 00:02:25.300 you need to take a part of. So we're going to 00:02:25.300 --> 00:02:27.360 get into just a little bit of the scriptures 00:02:27.360 --> 00:02:30.280 this morning to kind of lay a foundation for 00:02:30.280 --> 00:02:33.180 what Paul wants to tell us. This podcast is an 00:02:33.180 --> 00:02:36.000 introduction to the nine power gifts of the Holy 00:02:36.000 --> 00:02:38.560 Spirit. We'll cover all of these power gifts 00:02:38.560 --> 00:02:41.860 individually and specific information that the 00:02:41.860 --> 00:02:45.280 Lord gives us over the next few podcasts. But 00:02:45.280 --> 00:02:48.330 for now, I want to focus on what Paul had say 00:02:48.330 --> 00:02:52.189 in 1st Corinthians chapter 12 verses 7 through 00:02:52.189 --> 00:02:54.129 11. I'm going to read those to you right now. 00:02:54.370 --> 00:02:56.870 The Apostle Paul was speaking to the church in 00:02:56.870 --> 00:02:59.710 Corinth and these people needed some help to 00:02:59.710 --> 00:03:01.710 understanding the gifts of the Spirit and how 00:03:01.710 --> 00:03:03.729 the Holy Spirit operates. There's a lot of other 00:03:03.729 --> 00:03:06.629 topics he addressed but he covers it so well 00:03:06.629 --> 00:03:09.069 in these chapters. So in 1st Corinthians chapter 00:03:09.069 --> 00:03:12.110 12 verse number 7, here's his writing, the spiritual 00:03:12.110 --> 00:03:15.870 gift is given to each of us so that we can help 00:03:15.870 --> 00:03:17.740 each other. Listen to that, he's that a spiritual 00:03:17.740 --> 00:03:20.759 gift is given to each of us so we can help each 00:03:20.759 --> 00:03:23.039 other. I think that's so important to just stop 00:03:23.039 --> 00:03:24.919 there for a second and think. A lot of people 00:03:24.919 --> 00:03:27.099 want to approach the gifts of the Spirit because 00:03:27.099 --> 00:03:29.039 what they can get from them and they can receive 00:03:29.039 --> 00:03:31.400 power from them. And some of that's okay, but 00:03:31.400 --> 00:03:34.460 bottom line, God is telling through the Holy 00:03:34.460 --> 00:03:37.460 Spirit, Paul, to warn people that the spiritual 00:03:37.460 --> 00:03:41.340 gift is given to us so that we can help each 00:03:41.340 --> 00:03:43.840 other. See, we'll be blessed and we'll be a blessing 00:03:43.840 --> 00:03:46.400 to other people. In verse number eight, says 00:03:46.400 --> 00:03:48.960 to one person the Spirit gives the ability to 00:03:48.960 --> 00:03:51.780 give wise advice or that's known as wisdom to 00:03:51.780 --> 00:03:54.400 another the same spirit gives a message of special 00:03:54.400 --> 00:03:57.500 knowledge the same spirit gives great faith it 00:03:57.500 --> 00:03:59.680 doesn't say just faith it says great faith and 00:03:59.680 --> 00:04:01.680 we'll talk about that when we get on the subject 00:04:01.680 --> 00:04:05.039 of the gift of faith to another and to someone 00:04:05.039 --> 00:04:07.759 else it says the Holy Spirit gives the gift of 00:04:07.759 --> 00:04:11.259 healing he gives one person the power to perform 00:04:11.259 --> 00:04:14.340 miracles and another the ability to prophesy 00:04:14.340 --> 00:04:17.240 he gives someone else the ability to discern 00:04:17.240 --> 00:04:21.120 whether a message is from the Spirit or from… 00:04:21.040 --> 00:04:23.339 another spirit. You see, he's saying, it either 00:04:23.339 --> 00:04:24.899 comes from the Spirit of God or it comes from 00:04:24.899 --> 00:04:26.639 another source. And if it comes from another 00:04:26.639 --> 00:04:28.420 source, you see, the Holy Spirit is going to 00:04:28.420 --> 00:04:31.120 give us the ability to discern where the message 00:04:31.120 --> 00:04:33.160 is coming from. And that is so important when 00:04:33.160 --> 00:04:35.040 we're sharing our faith with others and we're 00:04:35.040 --> 00:04:37.379 praying with people and talking to Christians 00:04:37.379 --> 00:04:40.060 and non -believers and trying to understand where 00:04:40.060 --> 00:04:41.779 they are spiritually and the Holy Spirit can 00:04:41.779 --> 00:04:43.759 help us there. It says, still another person 00:04:43.759 --> 00:04:46.980 is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, 00:04:47.139 --> 00:04:49.920 while another is given the ability to interpret 00:04:49.920 --> 00:04:52.740 what is being said. Now, those are all the nine 00:04:52.740 --> 00:04:55.300 power gifts. And like I said, in this particular 00:04:55.300 --> 00:04:57.259 podcast, we're trying to lay a foundation, not 00:04:57.259 --> 00:05:00.079 get into specific spiritual gifts. And in verse 00:05:00.079 --> 00:05:03.120 11, it says here, it is the one and only spirit 00:05:03.120 --> 00:05:06.040 who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides 00:05:06.040 --> 00:05:08.600 which gift each person should have. Now, as we're 00:05:08.600 --> 00:05:10.660 going through the series on the Holy Spirit and 00:05:10.660 --> 00:05:12.899 the gifts, I think from time to time, I'm going 00:05:12.899 --> 00:05:14.819 to be reading this scripture because we need 00:05:14.819 --> 00:05:17.680 to remember the foundation. This is telling us, 00:05:17.759 --> 00:05:20.149 Paul's telling us what the power gifts are and 00:05:20.149 --> 00:05:22.730 then he says how they come and who has the authority 00:05:22.730 --> 00:05:26.110 to give us those gifts. So that's a crucial importance 00:05:26.110 --> 00:05:28.769 to understand when we get into understanding 00:05:28.769 --> 00:05:31.370 the nine power gifts of the Holy Spirit. Let 00:05:31.370 --> 00:05:33.269 me take you on a little journey as to what my 00:05:33.269 --> 00:05:35.310 wife and I went through when we became Christians. 00:05:35.490 --> 00:05:37.410 You know, when we received Jesus Christ as our 00:05:37.410 --> 00:05:39.990 Lord and Savior, we just wanted to get so much 00:05:39.990 --> 00:05:41.649 of what God, everything that God had for us, 00:05:41.649 --> 00:05:44.509 we wanted to know about it. So we decided to 00:05:44.509 --> 00:05:47.610 research and get into it. When we became Christians, 00:05:47.610 --> 00:05:50.769 we could not get enough of the Word of God. We 00:05:50.769 --> 00:05:53.529 just simply wanted it in our mind and our heart 00:05:53.529 --> 00:05:55.910 every single moment of every day. Just couldn't 00:05:55.910 --> 00:05:59.189 put the Word of God down. We also attended church 00:05:59.189 --> 00:06:01.870 three to four times a week. Yeah, that was in 00:06:01.870 --> 00:06:03.790 the days when you'd go to church Sunday morning, 00:06:03.970 --> 00:06:06.230 you'd go Sunday night, you'd go Wednesday night, 00:06:06.290 --> 00:06:08.430 you'd go Saturday morning for soul winning. You 00:06:08.430 --> 00:06:11.230 did at least three or four services every single 00:06:11.230 --> 00:06:13.329 week. And quite frankly, we loved them all. We 00:06:13.329 --> 00:06:15.430 took our family there, our kids went with us, 00:06:15.430 --> 00:06:18.250 and it was just an amazing time of growth. And 00:06:18.250 --> 00:06:20.069 I think a lot of churches have gotten away from 00:06:20.069 --> 00:06:23.069 that. And I think it's hurt a lot of people in 00:06:23.069 --> 00:06:25.209 growing in their walk with God, especially when 00:06:25.209 --> 00:06:27.310 they first become followers. of the Lord Jesus 00:06:27.310 --> 00:06:30.610 Christ. Because of our hunger to learn more about 00:06:30.610 --> 00:06:32.990 the Bible, we discovered Paul's teachings in 00:06:32.990 --> 00:06:35.370 1 Corinthians, chapters like I said before, chapter 00:06:35.370 --> 00:06:39.490 12, chapter 13, chapter 14. Our Bible study teacher, 00:06:39.569 --> 00:06:43.009 who is a wonderful woman, just a powerful teacher, 00:06:43.250 --> 00:06:47.029 she emphasize Paul's teaching so much, and especially 00:06:47.029 --> 00:06:49.149 when we got into talking about the operation 00:06:49.149 --> 00:06:51.569 of the Holy Spirit in our lives. So in order 00:06:51.569 --> 00:06:54.410 to better understand the gifts of the Holy Spirit, 00:06:54.509 --> 00:06:57.589 we joined Bible classes taught by the pastor's 00:06:57.589 --> 00:07:00.910 wife and other mature Christians who followed 00:07:00.910 --> 00:07:03.209 Paul's teaching. Now that's important. You know, 00:07:03.209 --> 00:07:05.209 when you sit underneath a person and they're 00:07:05.209 --> 00:07:07.629 teaching from some other person, you might want 00:07:07.629 --> 00:07:09.990 to know their source of their teaching. If they're 00:07:09.990 --> 00:07:11.910 using the Word of God, that's wonderful, but 00:07:11.910 --> 00:07:14.639 sometimes the Word of God is misinterpreted and 00:07:14.639 --> 00:07:17.560 sometimes it's spoken of in a way that can become 00:07:17.560 --> 00:07:20.540 confusing. So be very careful in who you sit 00:07:20.540 --> 00:07:23.439 under and who you receive your teaching from. 00:07:23.639 --> 00:07:26.759 This is really, really a good place to ask you 00:07:26.759 --> 00:07:30.800 to research the source of your teaching and who 00:07:30.800 --> 00:07:33.879 you read from and who you listen to when it comes 00:07:33.879 --> 00:07:36.139 to understand these various gifts of the Spirit. 00:07:36.399 --> 00:07:39.439 My recommendations would be I thoroughly enjoy 00:07:39.439 --> 00:07:42.480 Pastor Jack Hayford's teachings on the Holy Spirit. 00:07:42.379 --> 00:07:45.420 He was a powerful man of God and had an incredible 00:07:45.420 --> 00:07:48.300 church in California and was so knowledgeable 00:07:48.300 --> 00:07:51.060 in his teaching and highly recognized by most 00:07:51.060 --> 00:07:53.300 peoples in the Assemblies of God or the Church 00:07:53.300 --> 00:07:56.019 of God or the Pentecostal churches of the day. 00:07:56.319 --> 00:07:58.360 Another fellow that I read, and to this day I 00:07:58.360 --> 00:08:00.339 read both of these guys, Jack Hayford's one of 00:08:00.339 --> 00:08:02.600 them, Smith Wigglesworth is someone who likes 00:08:02.600 --> 00:08:05.040 to read. Now, Smith Wigglesworth was a man back 00:08:05.040 --> 00:08:08.259 in the 1800s who was filled with the Holy Spirit, 00:08:08.300 --> 00:08:11.220 became a great preacher, became a man operating 00:08:11.220 --> 00:08:14.000 in miracles. and healings and had an incredible 00:08:14.000 --> 00:08:17.360 life of going on praying for people and is accredited 00:08:17.360 --> 00:08:20.019 with praying for I think somewhere around 40 00:08:20.019 --> 00:08:23.579 people who passed away and he prayed for them 00:08:23.579 --> 00:08:25.800 and they came back to life. Now, I don't want 00:08:25.800 --> 00:08:27.500 to scare anybody off, but these are supposed 00:08:27.500 --> 00:08:30.699 to be documented cases in hospitals, examples 00:08:30.699 --> 00:08:32.860 where it was certified that yes, this person 00:08:32.860 --> 00:08:36.159 had been deceased and then Smith Wigglesworth 00:08:36.159 --> 00:08:38.179 and his team came in and prayed for them and 00:08:38.179 --> 00:08:41.029 that person, eyes will open back up again. and 00:08:41.029 --> 00:08:43.610 they came back to life. Now, pretty powerful 00:08:43.610 --> 00:08:45.950 and you got to believe that it's real and it's 00:08:45.950 --> 00:08:47.970 possible because that's what Jesus did and Jesus 00:08:47.970 --> 00:08:50.230 said that we would be able to do great works 00:08:50.230 --> 00:08:53.049 that he did and even greater works than he did. 00:08:53.129 --> 00:08:56.409 Now, I would encourage you to speak to your pastor 00:08:56.409 --> 00:08:58.610 or a Christian person that you have confidence 00:08:58.610 --> 00:09:01.730 in for help as to who you should listen to. Some 00:09:01.730 --> 00:09:04.409 say today, some are teaching today that the gifts 00:09:04.409 --> 00:09:06.870 no longer operate, that the gifts of tongues 00:09:06.870 --> 00:09:09.450 interpretation, gifts of prophecy and healings 00:09:09.450 --> 00:09:11.470 and miracles and all those things. If they're 00:09:11.470 --> 00:09:13.570 gone, that disappeared when Jesus left the earth. 00:09:13.590 --> 00:09:16.389 Well, that's just not true. Those are alive and 00:09:16.389 --> 00:09:18.429 well today, and they're operating. The Bible 00:09:18.429 --> 00:09:21.149 tells us that God is the same yesterday, today, 00:09:21.289 --> 00:09:23.970 and forever. And I can tell you as a man who 00:09:23.970 --> 00:09:26.330 has been involved in ministry now for over 50 00:09:26.330 --> 00:09:28.970 years, and all the years that I've had to speak 00:09:28.970 --> 00:09:31.070 with people, to counsel people, and to teach 00:09:31.070 --> 00:09:33.590 and instruct, I see the gifts of the Spirit operating 00:09:33.590 --> 00:09:35.990 in the church today. I see it operating in... 00:09:35.950 --> 00:09:38.129 prayer meetings. I know in my own personal life 00:09:38.129 --> 00:09:40.409 I've had many times that we've prayed for people 00:09:40.409 --> 00:09:42.610 and great healings have taken place. So we've 00:09:42.610 --> 00:09:45.370 got to remember the Spiritus God is moving. He 00:09:45.370 --> 00:09:48.129 hasn't changed one bit. And if man says that 00:09:48.129 --> 00:09:50.590 those gifts are not operating, then they're truly 00:09:50.590 --> 00:09:53.730 not basing that on anything that's scriptural. 00:09:53.899 --> 00:09:56.340 So be careful. To go back a little in our history, 00:09:56.720 --> 00:09:59.139 the church that we attended was an assembly of 00:09:59.139 --> 00:10:01.519 God church. They often taught about the Holy 00:10:01.519 --> 00:10:04.320 Spirit and the nine power gifts of the Holy Spirit. 00:10:04.600 --> 00:10:08.779 Let me remind you that the nine power gifts are 00:10:08.779 --> 00:10:12.480 wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, 00:10:13.019 --> 00:10:15.899 prophecy, discerning of spirits, tongues, and 00:10:15.899 --> 00:10:18.500 interpretation of tongues. These are the nine 00:10:18.570 --> 00:10:20.649 power gifts. That's why they refer to them, because 00:10:20.649 --> 00:10:23.990 they are beyond like the gifts that the Holy 00:10:23.990 --> 00:10:25.549 Spirit gives, which is the fruit of the Spirit, 00:10:25.669 --> 00:10:27.870 which is love, peace, joy, patience, goodness, 00:10:28.029 --> 00:10:30.110 kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and self -control. 00:10:30.190 --> 00:10:32.429 Those are also gifts from the Holy Spirit, but 00:10:32.429 --> 00:10:34.470 those are not classified as the power gifts. 00:10:34.549 --> 00:10:37.070 These power gifts make massive changes in other 00:10:37.070 --> 00:10:39.210 people's lives. The fruit of the Spirit makes 00:10:39.210 --> 00:10:41.669 a change in our life. The fruit of the Spirit 00:10:41.669 --> 00:10:43.470 and the gifts of the Spirit that come in for 00:10:43.470 --> 00:10:45.490 love, joy, peace, patience and goodness and all 00:10:45.490 --> 00:10:47.870 those things, those change us. And I know So 00:10:47.870 --> 00:10:50.409 by us changing, it makes an impact on other people. 00:10:50.509 --> 00:10:52.750 But the power gifts are gifts that have an impact 00:10:52.750 --> 00:10:55.690 on others, healings and miracles and prophecy 00:10:55.690 --> 00:10:58.730 and those things that are so vital to the church 00:10:58.730 --> 00:11:01.629 operating today in this difficult sinful world 00:11:01.629 --> 00:11:04.529 that we live in. All of these gifts are supernatural 00:11:04.529 --> 00:11:08.710 gifts. When operating according to the Holy Spirit's 00:11:08.710 --> 00:11:12.629 leading, these gifts glorify God. They always 00:11:12.629 --> 00:11:15.149 glorify God. They don't tear down other people. 00:11:15.250 --> 00:11:18.750 They're not destructive. They build people's 00:11:18.750 --> 00:11:21.990 faith and they always glorify God the Father. 00:11:22.169 --> 00:11:25.370 Now in 1st Corinthians chapter 12 and verse 11, 00:11:25.509 --> 00:11:28.769 I read the answer to a couple of questions that 00:11:28.769 --> 00:11:32.090 I've mentioned in my outline of what we will 00:11:32.090 --> 00:11:34.870 cover in this particular podcast. Let's read 00:11:34.870 --> 00:11:37.250 it again, that scripture, 1st Corinthians chapter 00:11:37.250 --> 00:11:40.389 12 verse 11. In the New Living Translation, Paul 00:11:40.389 --> 00:11:44.259 wrote these words, it is the one and only Spirit 00:11:44.259 --> 00:11:47.580 who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides 00:11:47.580 --> 00:11:50.840 which gift each person should have. Now, when 00:11:50.840 --> 00:11:54.240 we receive these gifts, the Holy Spirit is the 00:11:54.240 --> 00:11:56.159 one who gives them to us, right? He's our source. 00:11:56.360 --> 00:12:00.620 I have never met anyone who operates in all of 00:12:00.620 --> 00:12:03.460 the nine power gifts. However, I believe it could 00:12:03.460 --> 00:12:06.120 be possible. Personally, the Holy Spirit has 00:12:06.120 --> 00:12:09.580 given my wife and I several of these gifts. The 00:12:09.580 --> 00:12:11.679 gifts of tongues, interpretation of tongues, 00:12:12.200 --> 00:12:15.360 of prophecy, of gift of healings, and miracles, 00:12:15.980 --> 00:12:18.820 and discerning of other spirits. There's been 00:12:18.820 --> 00:12:20.759 times that I've walked up to people, went to 00:12:20.759 --> 00:12:23.200 pray with them, and you could just sense all 00:12:23.200 --> 00:12:26.200 over them that they had a terrible spirit, an 00:12:26.200 --> 00:12:28.159 evil spirit in them. And I would start to pray 00:12:28.159 --> 00:12:29.980 over them, and the Holy Spirit would warn me, 00:12:30.019 --> 00:12:32.659 don't touch them, don't lay hands on them, just 00:12:32.659 --> 00:12:35.480 speak to them. and take authority over that situation. 00:12:35.600 --> 00:12:37.480 And I've had to stop my prayer and just say, 00:12:37.500 --> 00:12:40.820 before we pray, we need to just take authority 00:12:40.820 --> 00:12:42.519 over what's taking place here. And I would say, 00:12:42.600 --> 00:12:45.759 in the name of Jesus, that evil spirit that you're 00:12:45.759 --> 00:12:48.200 struggling with, I sense it, I know it's real, 00:12:48.480 --> 00:12:51.980 but may it be right now removed from your body, 00:12:52.059 --> 00:12:54.299 soul, and spirit. We reject it, take authority 00:12:54.299 --> 00:12:56.580 over it in the name of Jesus, and we cast it 00:12:56.580 --> 00:12:59.360 out in Jesus' name. I feel so much freedom. 00:13:10.490 --> 00:13:13.370 That was when the Holy Spirit worked in my wife 00:13:13.370 --> 00:13:15.929 and I and showed us that there was an evil spirit 00:13:15.929 --> 00:13:18.230 in this person and to use caution when you're 00:13:18.230 --> 00:13:20.230 dealing with them. I was a brand new Christian. I was 00:13:33.210 --> 00:13:35.830 25 years old and all excited about the things 00:13:35.830 --> 00:13:37.929 of God, reading about the power of God and all 00:13:37.929 --> 00:13:39.789 the things that I wanted to take place in my 00:13:39.789 --> 00:13:41.529 life. And the pastor was praying for this young 00:13:41.529 --> 00:13:43.850 man, but he didn't say what it was for, what 00:13:43.850 --> 00:13:45.629 it was about. He said, we just prayed for his 00:13:45.629 --> 00:13:48.110 surgery and that things will work well and we 00:13:48.110 --> 00:13:51.149 ask it in Jesus' name. And so as soon as I looked 00:13:51.149 --> 00:13:54.070 at the little boy, the Lord showed me a picture 00:13:54.070 --> 00:13:57.450 in my mind that this little boy had a kidney 00:13:57.450 --> 00:14:00.169 that was dying, that had dried up. There was 00:14:00.169 --> 00:14:02.019 no blood flowing through. and it had totally 00:14:02.019 --> 00:14:04.120 dried up, and that they wanted to remove that. 00:14:04.200 --> 00:14:06.039 And so I said, Father, in the name of Jesus, 00:14:06.279 --> 00:14:08.860 I speak healing, claim healing for this little 00:14:08.860 --> 00:14:11.019 boy right now, that he be healed in Jesus' name. 00:14:11.100 --> 00:14:13.259 It was simple, something like that. And I walked 00:14:13.259 --> 00:14:15.320 up to the pastor after church, and I said, Pastor, 00:14:15.559 --> 00:14:17.679 I'm new here to the church, but I want to tell 00:14:17.679 --> 00:14:19.960 you what took place. And I explained to him that 00:14:19.960 --> 00:14:22.500 I was reaching out to pray for this little boy, 00:14:22.539 --> 00:14:25.320 and I felt the power of God come upon me. And 00:14:25.320 --> 00:14:27.399 I believe that that little boy was healed, and 00:14:27.399 --> 00:14:29.279 that his kidney is healed. And the pastor said, 00:14:29.379 --> 00:14:31.620 did anyone tell you it was a kidney problem?" 00:14:31.620 --> 00:14:33.840 I said, no, the Holy Spirit is the one that told 00:14:33.840 --> 00:14:36.299 me. And I said, he said, well that is the problem, 00:14:36.559 --> 00:14:38.379 it's his kidney, they're going to remove his 00:14:38.379 --> 00:14:40.019 kidney. And I said, well I believe it's been 00:14:40.019 --> 00:14:41.879 healed and they won't have to remove that kidney. 00:14:42.080 --> 00:14:45.000 And so because I believe God moved and manifested 00:14:45.000 --> 00:14:47.799 the healing power of the Lord Jesus Christ came 00:14:47.799 --> 00:14:50.440 over that little boy and he was healed. So the 00:14:50.440 --> 00:14:52.379 pastor said, well I'll be back in church on Wednesday 00:14:52.379 --> 00:14:54.799 so come back and we'll see how it went. So on 00:14:54.799 --> 00:14:57.259 Wednesday we went to church and as church started 00:14:57.259 --> 00:14:59.519 the pastor asked the man to come forward with 00:14:59.519 --> 00:15:01.559 his little boy and tell him what took place. 00:15:01.960 --> 00:15:03.720 The father of this little boy said, yeah, we 00:15:03.720 --> 00:15:06.179 went in to have the kidney removed, as you know, 00:15:06.179 --> 00:15:08.259 we were praying for. Of course, I didn't know 00:15:08.259 --> 00:15:10.139 that's what they were praying for. And he said, 00:15:10.240 --> 00:15:12.120 but when we got there, the doctor did an x -ray 00:15:12.120 --> 00:15:14.720 and said, what did you do? And he said, well, 00:15:14.759 --> 00:15:16.779 I did nothing. We just prayed for him. And the 00:15:16.779 --> 00:15:19.860 doctor said, well, his kidney function is perfect. 00:15:19.919 --> 00:15:22.360 His kidney is completely functioning normal now. 00:15:22.659 --> 00:15:24.820 Everything that we can see about the kidney, 00:15:25.100 --> 00:15:27.820 all that stuff that was a problem, it's now been 00:15:27.820 --> 00:15:29.929 removed and he's healed. and we don't have to 00:15:29.929 --> 00:15:32.529 remove that kidney. Now that was it. amazing 00:15:32.529 --> 00:15:34.309 when I heard him say that and my wife and I were 00:15:34.309 --> 00:15:35.909 looking at each other and we just said, look 00:15:35.909 --> 00:15:38.450 what God did, look what God did. God healed him 00:15:38.450 --> 00:15:40.950 and we were blessed to be a part to pray and 00:15:40.950 --> 00:15:43.529 I believe the gift of healing came forth and 00:15:43.529 --> 00:15:45.809 after that I had a number of times when I would 00:15:45.809 --> 00:15:48.950 pray for people and pray and claim healings and 00:15:48.950 --> 00:15:50.570 say, you're healed in Jesus' name and I would 00:15:50.570 --> 00:15:52.129 even tell them, I know that you've been healed. 00:15:52.250 --> 00:15:54.610 One time it was a person who had diabetes for 00:15:54.610 --> 00:15:56.549 many, many years and I said, God just healed 00:15:56.549 --> 00:15:58.409 you of diabetes. There's no doubt in my mind 00:15:58.409 --> 00:16:00.389 that he did. Go to the doctor and get it confirmed 00:16:00.389 --> 00:16:03.549 and she did. and she was healed and it was completely 00:16:03.549 --> 00:16:06.570 removed from her and the diabetes was gone. There 00:16:06.570 --> 00:16:08.570 have been other times in surgeries and things 00:16:08.570 --> 00:16:10.710 where we prayed and God did creative miracles. 00:16:10.730 --> 00:16:12.929 So we know that we know that we know that God 00:16:12.929 --> 00:16:15.070 used us. Now I'm not saying this to boast and 00:16:15.070 --> 00:16:17.669 brag and act like I'm someone special. The power 00:16:17.669 --> 00:16:19.389 of God moved but it was the Holy Spirit that 00:16:19.389 --> 00:16:21.889 gave us that gift to pray for people and the 00:16:21.889 --> 00:16:24.269 gift of healing and the gift of miracles, to 00:16:24.269 --> 00:16:26.570 see miracles take place. Those were things that 00:16:26.570 --> 00:16:28.889 we've seen manifested in our own life and you 00:16:28.889 --> 00:16:31.009 can have them in your life too if you seek God, 00:16:31.149 --> 00:16:33.549 you follow the Lord, ask the Holy Spirit to move 00:16:33.549 --> 00:16:36.029 upon you, and that you desire to have those gifts 00:16:36.029 --> 00:16:38.409 so that you can be a blessing to others. Remember 00:16:38.409 --> 00:16:41.309 what it says? It says the gift is given so that 00:16:41.309 --> 00:16:44.149 each person that gets a gift, it's given in order 00:16:44.149 --> 00:16:46.210 to bless others. That's the scripture I read 00:16:46.210 --> 00:16:48.549 earlier, 1 Corinthians chapter 12, that that's 00:16:48.549 --> 00:16:50.870 why we get these gifts so that we can be a blessing 00:16:50.870 --> 00:16:53.409 to other people. And remember, the gift is not 00:16:53.409 --> 00:16:55.950 given to cause us to be puffed up and cause us 00:16:55.950 --> 00:16:57.450 to say, well, look at me, look what I've got, 00:16:57.490 --> 00:16:59.919 or only for super Christians, it's given to people 00:16:59.919 --> 00:17:02.279 just like you who want to pray for other people 00:17:02.279 --> 00:17:04.619 and believe for miracles to take place, for healings 00:17:04.619 --> 00:17:07.299 to take place, to receive the baptism of the 00:17:07.299 --> 00:17:09.220 Holy Spirit and have your heavenly prayer language 00:17:09.220 --> 00:17:11.900 and to even interpret words that people are giving 00:17:11.900 --> 00:17:14.299 and prophetic words that are given with interpretations 00:17:14.299 --> 00:17:16.660 of tongues and interpretations. So all these 00:17:16.660 --> 00:17:18.380 things, I've got to be careful, I'll start getting 00:17:18.380 --> 00:17:20.160 into it right now and I don't have enough time 00:17:20.160 --> 00:17:23.000 in this podcast to cover all these things. I believe 00:17:25.740 --> 00:17:27.640 as the Spirit leads us, we're going to get into 00:17:27.640 --> 00:17:30.579 the power gifts. The 00:18:20.259 --> 00:18:23.220 Holy Spirit brings a life filled with supernatural 00:18:23.220 --> 00:18:26.819 experiences if we are led by the Spirit and not 00:18:26.819 --> 00:18:29.150 our flesh. And it's so important to remember 00:18:29.150 --> 00:18:31.309 we can only operate in the gifts of the Spirit 00:18:31.309 --> 00:18:33.869 when we're led by the Spirit of God. The Holy 00:18:33.869 --> 00:18:36.329 Spirit comes through an anointing. You see, the 00:18:36.329 --> 00:18:39.210 anointing of the Holy Spirit brings fresh, new, 00:18:39.390 --> 00:18:42.029 and safe directions from God. The Holy Spirit 00:18:42.029 --> 00:18:44.829 does not condemn. The Holy Spirit does not attack. 00:18:44.910 --> 00:18:47.269 And it's so important to understand that. I've 00:18:47.269 --> 00:18:49.930 been in small prayer groups or small Bible studies 00:18:49.930 --> 00:18:52.690 where someone will stand up and start saying 00:18:52.690 --> 00:18:54.869 they have a prophecy or they have a word, and 00:18:54.869 --> 00:18:56.869 they start destroying someone else. the church 00:18:56.869 --> 00:18:59.890 and attacking someone and saying terrible things 00:18:59.890 --> 00:19:02.049 about them. I really do not believe that's how 00:19:02.049 --> 00:19:04.230 the Spirit of God works. The Apostle Paul teaches 00:19:04.230 --> 00:19:06.150 us and tells us how to deal when we're having 00:19:06.150 --> 00:19:08.230 conflict with other people. It's talked about 00:19:08.230 --> 00:19:11.630 in the book of Timothy where Paul explains to 00:19:11.630 --> 00:19:13.529 Timothy about how to deal with those challenges 00:19:13.529 --> 00:19:16.089 in the church. So when you get involved with 00:19:16.089 --> 00:19:18.630 people who are seeking the Holy Spirit for guidance 00:19:18.630 --> 00:19:21.589 and directions and asking to receive the blessings 00:19:21.589 --> 00:19:24.009 that the Holy Spirit has, then any anointing 00:19:24.009 --> 00:19:28.079 comes down, it brings fresh new and safe directions 00:19:28.079 --> 00:19:30.339 from God. Things that will build up other people, 00:19:30.500 --> 00:19:32.759 encourage other people. The prayer of faith will 00:19:32.759 --> 00:19:35.240 heal the sick and all these great things that 00:19:35.240 --> 00:19:38.359 will take place and God wants us to understand 00:19:38.359 --> 00:19:40.599 that the Holy Spirit is here to help and bless 00:19:40.599 --> 00:19:42.980 and doesn't come to just condemn and beat us 00:19:42.980 --> 00:19:45.240 up and scare us to death. If that's what you've 00:19:45.240 --> 00:19:47.599 heard then run from that type of teaching. It's 00:19:47.599 --> 00:19:49.640 certainly not found in the Word of God and it's 00:19:49.640 --> 00:19:51.960 not found in the teachings that Paul has given 00:19:51.960 --> 00:19:55.420 us. Now the Holy Spirit brings God's way his 00:19:55.420 --> 00:19:58.519 will and his peace to believers. I'm gonna repeat 00:19:58.519 --> 00:20:01.059 that. I think that's so important. The Holy Spirit 00:20:01.059 --> 00:20:03.700 brings God's way. We want things to be done God 00:20:03.700 --> 00:20:06.460 way, right? Not my way, but God's way. His will. 00:20:06.599 --> 00:20:10.000 Not my will, but we want his will and his peace 00:20:10.000 --> 00:20:12.359 to believers. Now, Jesus talked about peace that 00:20:12.359 --> 00:20:14.140 he brings. It's not the peace that the world 00:20:14.140 --> 00:20:16.779 has. Jesus brings peace that the world can't 00:20:16.779 --> 00:20:19.319 even imagine, can't even imagine what it's like. 00:20:19.400 --> 00:20:23.019 But we can receive that is beyond our own understanding 00:20:23.019 --> 00:20:25.319 is what the word of God has to say. So it's important 00:20:25.319 --> 00:20:28.259 that we understand that that that God's Holy 00:20:28.259 --> 00:20:30.819 Spirit the Holy Spirit brings God's way his will 00:20:30.819 --> 00:20:34.799 and his peace to believers peace from past trials 00:20:34.799 --> 00:20:37.700 and peace from present trials. You see, you know, 00:20:37.799 --> 00:20:40.279 when you listen to the Word of God and the Apostle 00:20:40.279 --> 00:20:42.039 Paul speaks in Philippians and he says, to be 00:20:42.039 --> 00:20:44.059 anxious for nothing but everything through prayers, 00:20:44.140 --> 00:20:46.220 petitions, with thanksgiving, make your requests 00:20:46.220 --> 00:20:48.420 be made known to God and the peace of God that 00:20:48.420 --> 00:20:50.599 passes all understanding will guard your heart 00:20:50.599 --> 00:20:52.519 and guard your mind in Christ Jesus. He says 00:20:52.519 --> 00:20:54.700 something in there that's so important. He says 00:20:54.700 --> 00:20:57.759 that the peace of God that passes all understanding, 00:20:57.940 --> 00:21:00.519 well that peace of God is Holy Spirit peace. 00:21:00.680 --> 00:21:02.599 That's the fruit of the Spirit that can come 00:21:02.599 --> 00:21:05.359 in. That's that peace that it goes beyond understanding. 00:21:05.420 --> 00:21:08.059 We can't explain why we're having peace when 00:21:08.059 --> 00:21:10.539 we've had a cancer diagnosis because I know what 00:21:10.539 --> 00:21:13.220 that's like. I know what it's like to receive 00:21:13.220 --> 00:21:16.079 a cancer diagnosis from a doctor and telling 00:21:16.079 --> 00:21:17.839 them that this is life -threatening, there's 00:21:17.839 --> 00:21:19.960 no cure for it and it will take your life and 00:21:19.960 --> 00:21:21.880 I know what that's like but I also know what 00:21:21.880 --> 00:21:24.099 it's like when the Holy Spirit comes in and gives 00:21:24.099 --> 00:21:27.079 me peace that passes understanding, all understanding. 00:21:27.140 --> 00:21:29.259 I'm not a doctor, I don't understand the medical 00:21:29.259 --> 00:21:31.700 field but I know what the peace of God is and 00:21:31.700 --> 00:21:33.779 you can know what the peace of God is, and that's 00:21:33.779 --> 00:21:36.160 what the Holy Spirit brings. And as we go through 00:21:36.160 --> 00:21:39.460 these nine power gifts, I want all of us to think 00:21:39.460 --> 00:21:42.579 about the peace that God brings, that God help 00:21:42.579 --> 00:21:44.160 us through our trials. If you're going through 00:21:44.160 --> 00:21:46.779 trials or challenges right now, I just believe 00:21:46.779 --> 00:21:48.960 in the name of Jesus. Say, I take authority over 00:21:48.960 --> 00:21:51.980 that trial, and I ask for God's peace. I want 00:21:51.980 --> 00:21:55.119 His will. I want His way, and I want His peace. 00:21:55.240 --> 00:21:57.420 And the Holy Spirit can bring that to me. So 00:21:57.420 --> 00:22:00.140 Holy Spirit, bring that peace into my life from 00:22:00.140 --> 00:22:02.849 past trials, from present trials. and anxiety 00:22:02.849 --> 00:22:05.650 for the future. Remove it. Take it away in Jesus' 00:22:05.890 --> 00:22:08.230 name. He's the same one 00:22:30.089 --> 00:22:33.089 who is in us. today to help us and take us through 00:22:33.089 --> 00:22:35.390 our life and he's the one that brings forth those 00:22:35.390 --> 00:22:37.509 nine power gifts and I'm praying that when we 00:22:37.509 --> 00:22:39.049 get through this series we're going to have people 00:22:39.049 --> 00:22:41.589 reporting and letting us know that the power 00:22:41.589 --> 00:22:43.509 gifts have taken place in their life and they 00:22:43.509 --> 00:22:46.250 give God all the glory and honor for it.
