I would encourage you to read in the 00:03:52.430 --> 00:03:55.430 book of John the four gospels Matthew, Mark, 00:03:55.650 --> 00:03:59.210 Luke, and John. Read those and see what Jesus 00:03:59.210 --> 00:04:02.129 did as he walked this earth. All right, 00:04:31.730 --> 00:04:33.610 in getting into today's topic about the Holy 00:04:33.610 --> 00:04:36.029 Spirit, our advocate, I'm going to read several 00:04:36.029 --> 00:04:38.189 scriptures and talk about them as the Spirit 00:04:38.189 --> 00:04:40.290 leads, and I hope this will help each one of 00:04:40.290 --> 00:04:42.689 us get a better understanding of what it means 00:04:42.689 --> 00:04:44.790 for the Holy Spirit to be our advocate and what 00:04:44.790 --> 00:04:48.139 does it really what an advocate does and what 00:04:48.139 --> 00:04:50.600 it means in our daily walk with the Lord. In 00:04:50.600 --> 00:04:53.959 John chapter 14 and verse 16 in the New Living 00:04:53.959 --> 00:04:56.600 Testament, Jesus said these words, and I will 00:04:56.600 --> 00:04:59.839 ask the Father and he will give you another advocate. 00:05:00.040 --> 00:05:01.980 Now that means there must have been an advocate 00:05:01.980 --> 00:05:04.139 before that and of course that was the Lord and 00:05:04.139 --> 00:05:06.680 Savior Jesus Christ. It says, who will never 00:05:06.680 --> 00:05:09.579 leave you. He is the Holy Spirit who leads into 00:05:09.579 --> 00:05:13.220 all truths. Now here we're seeing John write 00:05:13.220 --> 00:05:15.459 as he's being led by the Holy Spirit to write 00:05:15.459 --> 00:05:18.540 these words. We're seeing John bring forth the 00:05:18.540 --> 00:05:21.540 power of the Word of God to help people and to 00:05:21.540 --> 00:05:24.060 touch them and to get them to understand that 00:05:24.060 --> 00:05:26.680 there's another advocate. That is the one who 00:05:26.680 --> 00:05:29.180 stands behind us and stands beside us and stands 00:05:29.180 --> 00:05:32.040 with us and supports us and encourages us and 00:05:32.040 --> 00:05:36.199 also Jesus is telling the disciples that the 00:05:36.199 --> 00:05:37.899 Holy Spirit will never leave them, that he'll 00:05:37.899 --> 00:05:40.800 always be with them and that he is truth, he 00:05:40.800 --> 00:05:43.459 is nothing but truth and he will lead them always 00:05:43.459 --> 00:05:45.740 into truth. All right, now let's take a look 00:05:45.740 --> 00:05:48.240 at another scripture here and see what it has 00:05:48.240 --> 00:05:50.839 to say in John chapter 14 again, this time in 00:05:50.839 --> 00:05:53.899 verse 26 in the New Living Translation. Jesus 00:05:53.899 --> 00:05:56.240 is speaking again, so we want to listen up to 00:05:56.240 --> 00:05:58.620 this very carefully. Jesus said, but when the 00:05:58.620 --> 00:06:02.120 father sends the advocate as my representative, 00:06:02.089 --> 00:06:05.170 that is the Holy Spirit. He will teach you everything 00:06:05.170 --> 00:06:08.709 and will remind you of everything I have told 00:06:08.709 --> 00:06:11.089 you. Once again we hear the word advocate which 00:06:11.089 --> 00:06:14.660 is obviously our support and also the advocate 00:06:14.660 --> 00:06:17.319 is one who wants to teach us and help us and 00:06:17.319 --> 00:06:19.920 even remind us from day to day what the Word 00:06:19.920 --> 00:06:21.939 of God says but first we need to get the Word 00:06:21.939 --> 00:06:24.660 of God into our heart and into our mind so it's 00:06:24.660 --> 00:06:27.399 there then the Holy Spirit will bring forth that 00:06:27.399 --> 00:06:30.420 word to remind us of where we can receive strength 00:06:30.420 --> 00:06:33.120 where we can receive help and that he is our 00:06:33.120 --> 00:06:36.300 helper he is our advocate he's on our side and 00:06:36.300 --> 00:06:38.920 he wants to be with us and support us John knew 00:06:38.920 --> 00:06:40.740 that and so he knew he had to write about it 00:06:40.879 --> 00:06:44.699 Let's move on now to John chapter 15 and verse 00:06:44.699 --> 00:06:47.379 26 in the New Living Translation. Once again, 00:06:47.379 --> 00:06:49.540 these are the words of Jesus, but I will send 00:06:49.540 --> 00:06:52.279 you the Advocate, the Spirit of Truth. He will 00:06:52.279 --> 00:06:55.459 come to you from the Father and will testify 00:06:55.459 --> 00:06:58.920 all that is about me. Verse 27, and you must 00:06:58.920 --> 00:07:03.459 also testify about me because you have been with 00:07:03.459 --> 00:07:06.120 me from the beginning of time, or since the beginning 00:07:06.120 --> 00:07:08.500 of His ministry. Now, this is really important 00:07:08.500 --> 00:07:10.389 because what we're hearing here is that John 00:07:10.389 --> 00:07:12.529 is telling us that the Holy Spirit, our advocate, 00:07:12.829 --> 00:07:15.850 is here and Jesus is basically speaking these 00:07:15.850 --> 00:07:18.149 words. John's recording them and he's speaking 00:07:18.149 --> 00:07:21.930 the words to say that we must then testify about 00:07:21.930 --> 00:07:25.310 Jesus. We must talk to other people about the 00:07:25.310 --> 00:07:27.910 Holy Spirit. We must talk to other people about 00:07:27.910 --> 00:07:30.310 the advocate and explain to other people what 00:07:30.310 --> 00:07:32.750 we're learning in our daily walk and that's something 00:07:32.750 --> 00:07:34.970 that's kind of hard for Christians to do from 00:07:34.970 --> 00:07:37.670 time to time because we get busy, we get distracted, 00:07:37.730 --> 00:07:39.370 we get a little nervous and sometimes people 00:07:39.310 --> 00:07:41.629 are afraid to speak about what's happening in 00:07:41.629 --> 00:07:44.110 our life but it's important that we do that because 00:07:44.110 --> 00:07:47.089 when we do that then the Holy Spirit will bring 00:07:47.089 --> 00:07:49.329 to mind what we've already learned and then he 00:07:49.329 --> 00:07:52.269 will also teach us new things and he'll help 00:07:52.269 --> 00:07:55.490 us interpret the scriptures as long as we then 00:07:55.490 --> 00:07:58.769 testify about Jesus and talk of our relationship 00:07:58.769 --> 00:08:01.629 with Christ. Now that means we must testify about 00:08:01.629 --> 00:08:04.529 what Jesus has done in our life. Probably the 00:08:04.529 --> 00:08:07.370 best way to give a testimony is to tell people 00:08:07.370 --> 00:08:09.589 of who you were before you became a Christian 00:08:09.589 --> 00:08:12.189 and then tell them who you are today and how 00:08:12.189 --> 00:08:14.589 you think today and how things have changed and 00:08:14.589 --> 00:08:17.220 how different things are. are taking place in 00:08:17.220 --> 00:08:19.680 your life and how you rely upon the Holy Spirit 00:08:19.680 --> 00:08:22.660 to help you and how the Holy Spirit is always 00:08:22.660 --> 00:08:25.120 there and he has our back. He's blessing us, 00:08:25.120 --> 00:08:28.399 he's protecting us, he's recommending prayers 00:08:28.399 --> 00:08:31.480 to the Father who the Father receives and those 00:08:31.480 --> 00:08:34.480 prayers are the divine will of God and so all 00:08:34.480 --> 00:08:37.159 this needs to come forth so that we'll understand 00:08:37.159 --> 00:08:39.840 the power and the working of the Holy Spirit. 00:08:39.899 --> 00:08:42.620 In the first podcast in this series, I should 00:08:42.620 --> 00:08:45.159 say that one previous to this, we talked about 00:08:45.100 --> 00:08:47.100 the Comforter, how the Holy Spirit's always there 00:08:47.100 --> 00:08:49.740 to help us and comfort us and be with us. So the way 00:09:04.600 --> 00:09:06.659 that happened in the last podcast can happen 00:09:06.659 --> 00:09:09.000 in this one, and that is that we must understand 00:09:09.000 --> 00:09:12.139 that the Holy Spirit is our advocate. He is the 00:09:12.139 --> 00:09:14.759 one that supports us. He's the one that is always 00:09:14.759 --> 00:09:17.440 there, never leaving us, never forsaking us for 00:09:17.440 --> 00:09:19.700 the rest of our life. And here's one final scripture 00:09:19.700 --> 00:09:22.299 in this particular area of this podcast and it's 00:09:22.299 --> 00:09:25.740 written in 1 John chapter 2 and verse 1 in the 00:09:25.740 --> 00:09:27.740 New Living Translation and listen to these words, 00:09:27.879 --> 00:09:30.919 if anyone does sin, well that's all of us, we're 00:09:30.919 --> 00:09:33.679 all sinners and we're saved by grace, we have 00:09:33.679 --> 00:09:37.480 an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. 00:09:37.620 --> 00:09:40.340 Now there's a great example of how the advocate 00:09:40.340 --> 00:09:42.440 is there and when you know sometimes we just 00:09:42.440 --> 00:09:44.149 don't know how to pray, we don't what we should 00:09:44.149 --> 00:09:46.210 pray for, how we should pray, what scriptures 00:09:46.210 --> 00:09:49.549 we might use, or which words that we should say 00:09:49.549 --> 00:09:51.950 in each particular situation when we're praying. 00:09:51.990 --> 00:09:54.210 That's happened to all of us. But if we then 00:09:54.210 --> 00:09:56.529 submit and yield to the Holy Spirit who lives 00:09:56.529 --> 00:09:58.950 and dwells in us, and by the way, he comes to 00:09:58.950 --> 00:10:01.110 live in us when we receive Jesus Christ as our 00:10:01.110 --> 00:10:03.389 Lord and Savior, and I mentioned that for those 00:10:03.389 --> 00:10:06.250 who receive Jesus in the early part of this podcast, 00:10:06.389 --> 00:10:08.750 as soon as you accepted him, the Holy Spirit 00:10:08.750 --> 00:10:12.009 was sent into you to dwell inside of you, and 00:10:12.009 --> 00:10:13.909 he now lives with with you and will walk with 00:10:13.909 --> 00:10:15.830 you the rest of your life. Therefore, we must 00:10:15.830 --> 00:10:18.870 listen to Him. And if we listen to Him, then 00:10:18.870 --> 00:10:22.210 He pleads our case before the Father. He's like 00:10:22.210 --> 00:10:24.710 our attorney. He's the one who brings the case 00:10:24.710 --> 00:10:28.490 before the court, which would be God. And He 00:10:28.490 --> 00:10:31.409 pleads our case and helps us and prays for us 00:10:31.409 --> 00:10:34.009 and encourages us and helps us to walk in the 00:10:34.009 --> 00:10:36.490 Spirit and to walk in the love of God and walk 00:10:36.490 --> 00:10:38.649 in the precepts that we've learned from the Word 00:10:38.649 --> 00:10:41.549 of God so that our way will be pleasing unto 00:10:41.549 --> 00:10:43.580 the Lord. and the Holy Spirit is one to help 00:10:43.580 --> 00:10:46.559 us do that and then pleads our case to the Lord 00:10:46.559 --> 00:10:50.320 and he always desires for the Lord to give us 00:10:50.320 --> 00:10:52.659 God's divine will for whatever we're praying 00:10:52.659 --> 00:10:54.820 about and praying for. Okay, we need to move 00:10:54.820 --> 00:10:57.500 on now. The difference between the Comforter 00:10:57.500 --> 00:10:59.779 and the Advocate. Now, there is a little bit 00:10:59.779 --> 00:11:01.419 of a difference here, but it's one that's kind 00:11:01.419 --> 00:11:03.960 of important for us to understand. The Comforter 00:11:03.960 --> 00:11:07.360 provides encouragement and peace. The Advocate 00:11:07.360 --> 00:11:10.120 pleads for us when we need it. which is most 00:11:10.120 --> 00:11:13.720 likely every day. Both are the operations of 00:11:13.720 --> 00:11:16.570 the Holy Spirit. That's the beauty of it. In 00:11:16.570 --> 00:11:19.509 that case, that power is operating inside of 00:11:19.509 --> 00:11:21.330 each and every one of us who are followers of 00:11:21.330 --> 00:11:23.909 the Lord Jesus Christ. This tells us that the 00:11:23.909 --> 00:11:27.350 Holy Spirit has an unlimited arsenal of ways 00:11:27.350 --> 00:11:30.850 to help and bless and guide us. So when we have 00:11:30.850 --> 00:11:34.409 an advocate behind us, remember, there's an unlimited 00:11:34.409 --> 00:11:37.590 amount of things that the Holy Spirit can do 00:11:37.590 --> 00:11:40.190 to help us. He can put people in front of us 00:11:40.190 --> 00:11:42.990 that we need to speak to. He can help us to have 00:11:42.990 --> 00:11:44.730 conversations with people we thought we wouldn't 00:11:44.730 --> 00:11:47.029 ever have a chance to. to talk to them. He can 00:11:47.029 --> 00:11:49.350 bring families back together. We can pray for 00:11:49.350 --> 00:11:51.370 our children who don't know Jesus Christ as their 00:11:51.370 --> 00:11:53.169 Lord and Savior or they've gotten away from the 00:11:53.169 --> 00:11:55.950 Lord and they're now wandering around on their 00:11:55.950 --> 00:11:58.250 own and we can pray and ask the Holy Spirit to 00:11:58.250 --> 00:12:01.090 go to them and convict them of their need to 00:12:01.090 --> 00:12:03.590 come back to Jesus or to receive Jesus Christ 00:12:03.590 --> 00:12:05.590 as their Lord and Savior. That's the working 00:12:05.590 --> 00:12:07.669 of the Holy Spirit. He's an advocate not just 00:12:07.669 --> 00:12:10.070 for us but for those that we love, those that 00:12:10.070 --> 00:12:12.649 we pray for. We can pray for people and ask the 00:12:12.649 --> 00:12:14.509 Holy Spirit to give them comfort in the midst 00:12:14.509 --> 00:12:16.919 of their pain and their difficulties and their 00:12:16.919 --> 00:12:19.440 sickness and their illnesses, he can help people 00:12:19.440 --> 00:12:21.360 who are going through all kinds of trials. No 00:12:21.360 --> 00:12:23.980 matter what it is, the Holy Spirit can show up 00:12:23.980 --> 00:12:26.879 and do something amazing in their life. But that 00:12:26.879 --> 00:12:30.840 can only happen if someone is praying and believing 00:12:30.840 --> 00:12:33.820 and trusting God to do something for that individual. 00:12:34.059 --> 00:12:35.860 A lot of people might question what I'm talking 00:12:35.860 --> 00:12:38.340 about now. In the prior podcast that I talked 00:13:46.730 --> 00:13:48.669 about, the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, I gave 00:13:48.669 --> 00:13:50.509 a couple scriptures about where we can receive 00:13:50.509 --> 00:13:52.909 strength. One was found in the book of Psalms 00:13:52.909 --> 00:13:55.889 46, verse 1, that God is a very present help 00:13:55.889 --> 00:13:58.549 in times of trouble. The other one was in Proverbs 00:13:58.549 --> 00:14:02.149 3, 5. These are all Holy Spirit -inspired scriptures 00:14:02.149 --> 00:14:03.850 where it says, trust in the Lord with all your 00:14:03.850 --> 00:14:05.909 heart, lean not on your own understanding and 00:14:05.909 --> 00:14:07.590 all your ways acknowledge him and he'll direct 00:14:07.590 --> 00:14:10.669 your path. Those are examples of the power placed 00:14:10.669 --> 00:14:12.929 in the Word of God for the Holy Spirit to be 00:14:12.929 --> 00:14:15.710 able to prove that he is there for us. He's an 00:14:15.710 --> 00:14:18.350 advocate for us. He is our supporter. There's 00:14:18.350 --> 00:14:20.129 another scripture that I think I need to read 00:14:20.129 --> 00:14:22.549 because it's so important that we receive this 00:14:22.549 --> 00:14:25.990 and understand that these words need to go deep 00:14:25.990 --> 00:14:28.269 into our heart, into our mind, and that we must 00:14:28.269 --> 00:14:30.950 believe them as much as we believe anything else 00:14:30.950 --> 00:14:33.269 that we can think of. And they'll say, well, yeah, kinda. 00:14:41.360 --> 00:14:43.419 And then I'll say, well, what does God's Word 00:14:43.419 --> 00:14:45.580 say about that situation? And they'll say, I 00:14:45.580 --> 00:14:48.120 don't know. I've not gone to the scripture to 00:14:48.120 --> 00:14:51.059 find out. Well, for every single thing that we 00:14:51.059 --> 00:14:53.360 face in our life, the Word of God has the answer 00:14:53.360 --> 00:14:55.539 to it. If you're being challenged financially, 00:14:55.899 --> 00:14:57.899 the Word's filled with it. If you've got marital 00:14:57.899 --> 00:15:00.620 problems, there's advice in the Word of God that 00:15:00.620 --> 00:15:03.960 Paul gave out in 1 and 2 Corinthians. There's 00:15:03.960 --> 00:15:06.789 advice that... the Holy Spirit gave those in 00:15:06.789 --> 00:15:08.929 the Old Testament in the book of Psalms and the 00:15:08.929 --> 00:15:11.990 book of Proverbs about wisdom and direction that 00:15:11.990 --> 00:15:15.690 a person who needs help can find that help and 00:15:15.690 --> 00:15:18.490 find that direction, that strength from the Holy 00:15:18.490 --> 00:15:20.070 Spirit if they'll just get that word in them. 00:15:20.110 --> 00:15:21.690 So here's another scripture I want to share with 00:15:21.690 --> 00:15:25.029 you, Romans 8, 31. If God is for us, who can 00:15:25.029 --> 00:15:27.769 ever be against us? Now that, I believe, says 00:15:27.769 --> 00:15:31.029 so much about the Holy Spirit being the advocate. 00:15:31.210 --> 00:15:33.490 That means if he's on our side, quite frankly, 00:15:33.649 --> 00:15:35.779 what difference does it make? Who's against us? 00:15:35.899 --> 00:15:38.720 If God is for us, and he is, and he's on our 00:15:38.720 --> 00:15:41.120 side, and he is, and the Holy Spirit is our advocate, 00:15:41.200 --> 00:15:43.980 and he is, then what difference is it if someone 00:15:43.980 --> 00:15:46.379 tries to attack us, or tries to verbally say 00:15:46.379 --> 00:15:48.379 something against us, or someone comes up against 00:15:48.379 --> 00:15:50.440 us? We can just take authority over them in the 00:15:50.440 --> 00:15:53.080 name of Jesus, rebuke that thought, not accept 00:15:53.080 --> 00:15:55.379 it, not receive it into our heart or our mind, 00:15:55.379 --> 00:15:57.659 and move on with our life. Some of you might 00:15:57.659 --> 00:16:00.200 say, that might sound easy to do, but it's tougher, 00:16:00.419 --> 00:16:02.799 but it's only tougher if we try to do it on our 00:16:02.799 --> 00:16:05.259 own. If we try to do it underneath the power 00:16:05.259 --> 00:16:07.240 and the anointing of the Holy Spirit and be led 00:16:07.240 --> 00:16:09.919 by Him and ask Him to help us and to lead us 00:16:09.919 --> 00:16:12.279 and to guide us and to pray for us and take it 00:16:12.279 --> 00:16:15.419 to the Father, then we have release that we have 00:16:15.419 --> 00:16:17.759 when we're under attack. Read the scripture again. 00:16:17.960 --> 00:16:21.980 If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 00:16:21.980 --> 00:16:24.639 Which means they have no hope of achieving anything. 00:16:24.899 --> 00:16:27.120 And so it's important we receive that, we understand 00:16:27.120 --> 00:16:30.240 it, we believe it, and we live by it. That scripture 00:16:30.240 --> 00:16:34.210 is telling us that no one can bring condemnation 00:16:34.210 --> 00:16:38.169 against us. Nothing can separate us from the 00:16:38.169 --> 00:16:41.669 love of God. So remember, that's part of the 00:16:41.669 --> 00:16:44.269 working of the Holy Spirit. That's why he is 00:16:44.269 --> 00:16:46.870 our advocate. Allow me to give you an example 00:16:46.870 --> 00:16:50.419 of what an advocate does. Twice a year, I serve 00:16:50.419 --> 00:16:53.899 as an advocate for an organization that is helping 00:16:53.899 --> 00:16:56.539 those individuals who have experienced kidney 00:16:56.539 --> 00:16:59.539 cancer. Now, I have experienced that in my life, 00:16:59.559 --> 00:17:01.039 and that's one of the reasons they contacted 00:17:01.039 --> 00:17:03.220 me. I'm a veteran, that's another reason they 00:17:03.220 --> 00:17:05.420 contacted me, and so I thank the Lord for that 00:17:05.420 --> 00:17:08.740 opportunity. I serve as an advocate for someone 00:17:08.740 --> 00:17:12.140 who supports and agrees with their mission, the 00:17:12.140 --> 00:17:13.880 mission that these people have. I think it's 00:17:13.880 --> 00:17:16.440 a great mission for research to find a cure for 00:17:16.440 --> 00:17:20.190 cancer. of the kidneys that is. I speak to my... 00:17:20.170 --> 00:17:22.950 political representatives in the United States 00:17:22.950 --> 00:17:25.869 Congress in Washington DC. I have an opportunity 00:17:25.869 --> 00:17:27.950 to speak to their office, either their assistants 00:17:27.950 --> 00:17:30.789 or them, and have that chance to say, I want 00:17:30.789 --> 00:17:34.289 you to stand up and support research for kidney 00:17:34.289 --> 00:17:37.069 cancer. It's a wonderful organization and one 00:17:37.069 --> 00:17:38.890 that I've been a part of for several years now 00:17:38.890 --> 00:17:40.809 and I'm honored to be one of the representatives 00:17:40.809 --> 00:17:43.069 from Arizona to be able to speak to those in 00:17:43.069 --> 00:17:46.190 Congress. Now I'm an advocate for those who need 00:17:46.190 --> 00:17:48.490 help to find a cure. That's just what the Holy 00:17:48.490 --> 00:17:52.000 Spirit does. an advocate for those who need help 00:17:52.000 --> 00:17:55.319 to find help. They need to find a cure for what 00:17:55.319 --> 00:17:56.920 they're going through, whether it be emotional 00:17:56.920 --> 00:17:59.140 issues, whether it be physical issues, whether 00:17:59.140 --> 00:18:01.019 it might be financial or marital or whatever 00:18:01.019 --> 00:18:03.480 it might be. The Holy Spirit can help us to find 00:18:03.480 --> 00:18:07.059 a cure. These people ask me to speak because 00:18:07.059 --> 00:18:09.940 I lost one of my kidneys, so therefore I'm in 00:18:09.940 --> 00:18:12.420 a position to understand what it's like to go 00:18:12.420 --> 00:18:14.859 through that and I have compassion for that. 00:18:14.980 --> 00:18:18.660 The Holy Spirit has compassion because he understands 00:18:18.700 --> 00:18:21.059 what Jesus went through when he was on the cross. 00:18:21.480 --> 00:18:23.579 Remember now that God the Father, God the Son, 00:18:23.700 --> 00:18:25.839 and God the Holy Spirit, the triune Godhead, 00:18:26.140 --> 00:18:29.599 are all one God in three persons. The 00:18:50.190 --> 00:18:53.009 Holy Spirit wants to be an advocate for us because 00:18:53.009 --> 00:18:55.650 he wants our life to be wonderful. I hope that 00:18:55.650 --> 00:18:58.490 is a good example and I think it's one that really 00:18:58.490 --> 00:19:01.049 is close to my heart. Now in a similar way, the 00:19:01.049 --> 00:19:04.089 Holy Spirit deals with us in every area of our 00:19:04.089 --> 00:19:07.150 life as being an advocate. He is always available 00:19:07.150 --> 00:19:09.950 to us. Always. Jesus said that. He'll always 00:19:09.950 --> 00:19:12.450 be with you. As a pastor, I've heard Christians 00:19:12.450 --> 00:19:14.569 say that they can't find the Holy Spirit. It 00:19:14.569 --> 00:19:16.829 seems like they can't pray, and they can't seem 00:19:16.829 --> 00:19:18.730 to figure out exactly what the Holy Spirit has 00:19:18.730 --> 00:19:21.230 to say to them. And is He listening to them? 00:19:21.309 --> 00:19:23.650 And do they have His voice? Well, a lot of times 00:19:23.650 --> 00:19:25.670 when we pray and we ask for the Holy Spirit to 00:19:25.670 --> 00:19:28.170 help us, if we don't have any patience, then 00:19:28.170 --> 00:19:30.089 we'll just think that, well, He's not listening 00:19:30.089 --> 00:19:32.089 to us and we've got to get the answer that we 00:19:32.089 --> 00:19:34.809 want. Many times we want the answer that we want 00:19:34.809 --> 00:19:37.170 rather than what the answer that's best for us. 00:19:37.130 --> 00:19:40.390 That's why I believe many times God says no to 00:19:40.390 --> 00:19:42.730 one of our requests because he has something 00:19:42.730 --> 00:19:45.670 planned that's even better and we've got to understand 00:19:45.670 --> 00:19:48.029 that sometimes and many times people think that's 00:19:48.029 --> 00:19:49.690 just because the Holy Spirit's not listening 00:19:49.690 --> 00:19:51.849 to us because we're not getting what we want. 00:19:52.049 --> 00:19:54.529 What we want is one thing, what we need can be 00:19:54.529 --> 00:19:56.960 something. totally different. Now I read this 00:19:56.960 --> 00:19:58.720 scripture before and I'm going to read it once 00:19:58.720 --> 00:20:02.140 again very quickly. Psalm 46 1 that says here 00:20:02.140 --> 00:20:04.720 that he is a very present help in our trials 00:20:04.720 --> 00:20:07.140 in times of trouble another translation says. 00:20:07.319 --> 00:20:10.099 That means the Holy Spirit is there with us and 00:20:10.099 --> 00:20:12.960 he is a very present help because he is present 00:20:12.960 --> 00:20:15.960 in us each and every day. Now there are times 00:20:15.960 --> 00:20:19.900 when we may feel that God does not even hear 00:20:19.900 --> 00:20:22.700 prayers that just should automatically be answered. 00:20:22.779 --> 00:20:25.210 Well I know that God hears all of our prayers. 00:20:25.430 --> 00:20:27.450 Don't ever think that God doesn't hear your prayer 00:20:27.450 --> 00:20:30.250 because he does hear it. He always answers our 00:20:30.250 --> 00:20:33.480 prayers. He may say, yes. He may say no, he may 00:20:33.480 --> 00:20:35.940 say not now, or he may say that he has a better 00:20:35.940 --> 00:20:39.359 way. Whatever it might be, God hears our prayers. 00:20:39.440 --> 00:20:42.980 He is sovereign and we love him, regardless of 00:20:42.980 --> 00:20:45.299 what we're going through. We can't get upset 00:20:45.299 --> 00:20:47.519 with God. We can't get mad at God. We can't turn 00:20:47.519 --> 00:20:49.859 against God. I don't understand that when people 00:20:49.859 --> 00:20:52.980 say, I'm mad at God. Well, what good is that 00:20:52.980 --> 00:20:55.339 gonna do to be mad at God? I've never understood 00:20:55.339 --> 00:20:57.180 that. With all the trials I've had, the Holy 00:20:57.180 --> 00:20:59.299 Spirit has always helped me not to utter those 00:20:59.299 --> 00:21:02.819 words because there's no no absolute reason, 00:21:03.000 --> 00:21:05.400 there's no justification that we can be mad at 00:21:05.400 --> 00:21:08.200 God because he loves us greater than any love 00:21:08.200 --> 00:21:11.559 that anyone else has for us. And he isn't upset 00:21:11.559 --> 00:21:14.099 with us unless we're turning against him, unless 00:21:14.099 --> 00:21:16.880 we're not serving him. It says that he turns 00:21:16.880 --> 00:21:19.960 his presence away from people who are not following 00:21:19.960 --> 00:21:23.480 him or seeking him or need him if they're not 00:21:23.480 --> 00:21:25.960 following him. And so we've got to seek God. 00:21:26.059 --> 00:21:28.559 And if we seek him, we'll find him. If we draw 00:21:28.559 --> 00:21:30.619 near to God, the Bible says that he will draw 00:21:30.539 --> 00:21:33.319 near to us, and he does that through the working 00:21:33.319 --> 00:21:35.859 and the inner working of the Holy Spirit in our 00:21:35.859 --> 00:21:38.700 life. In my own life, I've experienced times 00:21:38.700 --> 00:21:41.920 when I had to just simply trust God, trust his 00:21:41.920 --> 00:21:44.930 word, trust his promises. trust in miracles, 00:21:45.170 --> 00:21:47.410 believe for them even when I didn't see them 00:21:47.410 --> 00:21:50.069 at first, and believe that God is in charge. 00:21:50.150 --> 00:21:53.329 When I faced medical issues, numerous cancers, 00:21:53.690 --> 00:21:56.490 kidney failure, all of it required me running 00:21:56.490 --> 00:22:00.369 to God for help. I've had many surgeries and 00:22:00.369 --> 00:22:02.650 all these things, and every time these things 00:22:02.650 --> 00:22:05.910 have happened, God shows up and He deals with 00:22:05.910 --> 00:22:08.430 me and He helps me. Sometimes I wish it was faster 00:22:08.430 --> 00:22:10.630 than others, but there's never been a time in 00:22:10.630 --> 00:22:13.359 my life that God has ever deserted me. And it's 00:22:13.359 --> 00:22:15.960 the same thing with all of us. He'll never leave 00:22:15.960 --> 00:22:19.119 us, and He'll never forsake us. That means never. 00:22:19.400 --> 00:22:20.720 That doesn't mean whether we're going through 00:22:20.720 --> 00:22:22.220 trials or not, doesn't mean whether we're going 00:22:22.220 --> 00:22:24.700 through a sickness or not. The Apostle Paul understood 00:22:24.700 --> 00:22:27.279 that. He learned that in prison. And I've used 00:22:27.279 --> 00:22:29.579 this example so many times, but it's such a great 00:22:29.579 --> 00:22:32.279 example, and that is, in the midst of Paul's 00:22:32.279 --> 00:22:34.789 trials, his greatest trials in prison, He wrote 00:22:34.789 --> 00:22:36.789 some of the greatest scriptures that we'll ever 00:22:36.789 --> 00:22:39.470 read. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were powerful 00:22:39.470 --> 00:22:41.609 scriptures, wonderful. They weren't written by 00:22:41.609 --> 00:22:45.089 Paul. Paul wrote the wonderful epistles, Galatians, 00:22:45.430 --> 00:22:48.890 Ephesians, Philippians. Those are all great. 00:22:49.699 --> 00:22:52.660 powerful scriptures that have such intense content. 00:22:52.880 --> 00:22:55.180 Well, all of those were written, the ones that 00:22:55.180 --> 00:22:57.799 Paul wrote, the epistles were written while he 00:22:57.799 --> 00:23:00.700 was suffering in the midst of his greatest trials 00:23:00.700 --> 00:23:03.380 and his greatest circumstances. And he at times 00:23:03.380 --> 00:23:05.079 said, you know, I've tried several times to get 00:23:05.079 --> 00:23:07.119 healed of a physical condition I've got, but 00:23:07.119 --> 00:23:09.279 regardless of whether God heals me or not, I'm 00:23:09.279 --> 00:23:11.940 going to serve him. Job said, though God slay 00:23:11.940 --> 00:23:13.779 me, I'll trust him. So when we're in the midst 00:23:13.779 --> 00:23:16.140 of trials, if I could stand in front of you, 00:23:16.180 --> 00:23:18.579 I'd say, please, please, please never Don't get 00:23:18.579 --> 00:23:21.220 upset with God. Don't get mad with God. Don't 00:23:21.220 --> 00:23:23.180 say that He doesn't love you or He doesn't care 00:23:23.180 --> 00:23:24.640 for you or that He's not hearing your prayers. 00:23:24.880 --> 00:23:27.319 He is there. He wants to help you. Allow the 00:23:27.319 --> 00:23:29.940 Holy Spirit to comfort you. The Holy Spirit is 00:23:29.940 --> 00:23:32.579 your advocate. We will live 00:24:07.690 --> 00:24:10.960 here for only a few decades on earth, but thousands 00:24:10.960 --> 00:24:14.200 of centuries in heaven for eternity.
