It's something that the 00:01:27.079 --> 00:01:29.540 Bible tells us about and warns us about that 00:01:29.540 --> 00:01:31.659 we need to submit and surrender ourselves to 00:01:31.659 --> 00:01:33.760 the Lord and let the Holy Spirit speak through 00:01:33.760 --> 00:01:37.219 us and use us in a way that only He can do. And 00:01:37.219 --> 00:01:39.099 so we really want to focus on that today and 00:01:39.099 --> 00:01:42.079 how the Holy Spirit has a plan for us and a way 00:01:42.079 --> 00:01:45.299 to help us to win the battle over our mind and 00:01:45.299 --> 00:01:47.140 to think those things that will be pleasing unto 00:01:47.140 --> 00:01:50.379 the Lord. When that happens, I 00:02:08.199 --> 00:02:10.120 believe if you're a follower of Jesus Christ 00:02:10.120 --> 00:02:12.740 that you are basically being touched by the Holy 00:02:12.740 --> 00:02:14.900 Spirit to help you speak the right things at 00:02:14.900 --> 00:02:17.729 the right time to the right person. So that's 00:02:17.729 --> 00:02:19.629 something that we want to talk about today. When 00:02:19.629 --> 00:02:22.530 Jesus left his disciples, he promised them that 00:02:22.530 --> 00:02:25.909 he would send the Comforter, the Paraclete, the 00:02:25.909 --> 00:02:28.789 Advocate, and the Counselor. We read about that 00:02:28.789 --> 00:02:32.610 in John chapter 14 and verse 16. So let me read 00:02:32.610 --> 00:02:35.250 that to you now. I will ask the Father, and he 00:02:35.250 --> 00:02:37.629 will give you another Advocate. This is Jesus 00:02:37.629 --> 00:02:39.930 speaking, who will never leave you. And verse 00:02:39.930 --> 00:02:42.889 17, he is the Holy Spirit who leads into all 00:02:42.889 --> 00:02:44.770 truth. Now, look what Jesus is saying to him. 00:02:44.770 --> 00:02:46.750 He's telling them, I've got to... plan for you. 00:02:46.870 --> 00:02:49.389 I've got something that's going to help you and 00:02:49.389 --> 00:02:51.449 guide you in each and every day of your life 00:02:51.449 --> 00:02:53.530 and every thought that you have and every action 00:02:53.530 --> 00:02:56.689 that you take. So he goes to his Father 00:02:59.310 --> 00:03:02.050 and he asks the Father to send the Holy Spirit 00:03:02.050 --> 00:03:05.169 and he'll be another advocate, which means I've 00:03:05.169 --> 00:03:07.189 been your advocate, I've been on your side and 00:03:07.189 --> 00:03:09.250 you've had my back and I've had your back. And 00:03:09.250 --> 00:03:11.849 he says that, he says, but he'll be another advocate 00:03:11.849 --> 00:03:15.050 who will never leave you. He's saying that he's 00:03:15.050 --> 00:03:17.599 always going to be there. You know, it's so important 00:03:17.599 --> 00:03:20.199 that as followers of Jesus Christ that we understand 00:03:20.199 --> 00:03:23.699 that we have power of the Holy Spirit in us each 00:03:23.699 --> 00:03:25.439 and every day and every single moment. And I 00:03:25.439 --> 00:03:28.919 know it's hard to act in the Spirit all the time 00:03:28.919 --> 00:03:30.759 and respond to the Spirit all the time, but we 00:03:30.759 --> 00:03:32.800 need to train ourselves and teach ourselves to 00:03:32.800 --> 00:03:35.360 surrender to Him, to His leading. And so therefore 00:03:35.360 --> 00:03:37.379 we'll say the right things at the right time 00:03:37.379 --> 00:03:39.979 to the right people and we'll be led by the Spirit 00:03:39.979 --> 00:03:42.699 of God to know exactly how to deal with every 00:03:42.699 --> 00:03:45.340 situation that we face in life. And he's telling 00:03:45.340 --> 00:03:47.639 us that he'll never leave us and that he is the 00:03:47.639 --> 00:03:50.120 Holy Spirit who leads us into all truth. So if 00:03:50.120 --> 00:03:52.400 we're looking for truth, then just just call 00:03:52.400 --> 00:03:54.620 upon the person of the Holy Spirit who lives 00:03:54.620 --> 00:03:57.439 and dwells in each power of the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:03:57.500 --> 00:04:00.300 Now Jesus went on to say things that are so powerful. 00:04:00.319 --> 00:04:03.020 He said that the Holy Spirit will live in them 00:04:03.020 --> 00:04:05.360 and that's something that we've got to understand. 00:04:05.360 --> 00:04:07.520 I know most of us don't have any problem relating 00:04:07.520 --> 00:04:09.259 to that and understand that, but there's some 00:04:09.259 --> 00:04:11.939 people that we, and I've been to the point at 00:04:11.939 --> 00:04:14.659 times when I don't always surrender to the Holy 00:04:14.659 --> 00:04:16.860 Spirit at the right time. And usually when I 00:04:16.860 --> 00:04:18.779 make that mistake, I find out very quickly and 00:04:18.779 --> 00:04:20.540 that's the Holy Spirit telling me, you didn't 00:04:20.540 --> 00:04:22.439 listen to me, you didn't hear what I had to say, 00:04:22.500 --> 00:04:25.720 you didn't come to me. And so that is the crucial 00:04:25.720 --> 00:04:28.379 part of this teaching is having Holy Spirit -led 00:04:28.379 --> 00:04:31.180 thoughts so that we'll also have Holy Spirit 00:04:31.180 --> 00:04:33.959 -led words that we speak. And the Bible says, 00:04:34.100 --> 00:04:36.339 let the words of my mouth and meditation of my 00:04:36.339 --> 00:04:38.779 heart be acceptable to you. Well, that's just 00:04:38.779 --> 00:04:40.300 what we're talking about here and what we want 00:04:40.300 --> 00:04:42.949 to focus on today in this podcast today. Let 00:04:42.949 --> 00:04:45.250 me ask you a question. As a follower of Jesus 00:04:45.250 --> 00:04:48.810 Christ, how often do we think of what Jesus said? 00:04:48.910 --> 00:04:50.670 The words that he just spoke, that he's going 00:04:50.670 --> 00:04:52.509 to send us an advocate who won't leave us and 00:04:52.509 --> 00:04:54.470 that he'll lead us into all truth. How often 00:04:54.470 --> 00:04:57.889 do we rely upon that? The Holy Spirit lives in 00:04:57.889 --> 00:05:01.029 us and he does comfort us. At least that's his 00:05:01.029 --> 00:05:03.709 desire is to comfort us. We've got to yield to 00:05:03.709 --> 00:05:06.990 him, submit to him, open up ourselves to receive 00:05:06.990 --> 00:05:10.629 his comfort. He wants to counsel us. He is for 00:05:10.629 --> 00:05:13.629 us and not against us. If you're feeling down, 00:05:13.889 --> 00:05:15.610 you know, if you're frustrated as a follower 00:05:15.610 --> 00:05:17.769 of Jesus Christ, you get frustrated, we all go 00:05:17.769 --> 00:05:20.110 through those times of frustration, maybe a little 00:05:20.110 --> 00:05:22.910 bit of irritation will come into our life. As 00:05:22.910 --> 00:05:25.009 soon as we start feeling that, we've got to remember 00:05:25.009 --> 00:05:27.430 that the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, He's on 00:05:27.430 --> 00:05:29.670 our side. He's for us. And you say, well, does 00:05:29.670 --> 00:05:31.930 He correct me sometimes? Absolutely. That's what 00:05:31.930 --> 00:05:35.189 His job is to instruct us and help us and even 00:05:35.189 --> 00:05:37.449 give us discipline on the things that we say 00:05:37.449 --> 00:05:39.589 and the actions that we take. So we've got to 00:05:39.589 --> 00:05:41.879 stop and say to ourselves, Even though I'm going 00:05:41.879 --> 00:05:44.259 through this, I've got the greatest power that's 00:05:44.259 --> 00:05:46.439 ever walked on the face of this earth, living 00:05:46.439 --> 00:05:49.379 and dwelling inside of me, ready to help, willing 00:05:49.379 --> 00:05:51.860 to help, able to help, and we've got to submit 00:05:51.860 --> 00:05:53.839 to Him, surrender to Him, and that's something 00:05:53.839 --> 00:05:56.500 that is difficult, but then the more you do it, 00:05:56.500 --> 00:05:59.339 the easier it gets. I'm going to make 00:07:13.410 --> 00:07:15.730 mistakes. I'm going to use a is when I shouldn't 00:07:15.730 --> 00:07:18.029 be saying isn't and those types of things. So 00:07:18.029 --> 00:07:20.350 an editor comes in to correct that and I have 00:07:20.350 --> 00:07:23.209 to hire them to do that. And I bring that example 00:07:23.209 --> 00:07:25.810 up because as Christians, the followers of Jesus 00:07:25.810 --> 00:07:28.329 Christ, the Holy Spirit is our editor. Now, they might still be upset with you, 00:08:45.179 --> 00:08:46.679 but they'll look at that card and they'll think, 00:08:46.700 --> 00:08:48.659 that's nice that they sent that. They may not 00:08:48.659 --> 00:08:50.399 tell you that, they may not say that, but they 00:08:50.399 --> 00:08:52.700 saw those words and they didn't see a bunch of 00:08:52.700 --> 00:08:55.179 explanations about why your conversations have 00:08:55.179 --> 00:08:56.899 gone bad or why you've had the disagreements 00:08:56.899 --> 00:08:58.620 that you've had. They're not going to go there 00:08:58.620 --> 00:09:01.080 because all they'll simply have is just a comment 00:09:01.080 --> 00:09:02.980 from you that says, God loves you and I love 00:09:02.980 --> 00:09:05.840 you. And it's just 00:09:56.000 --> 00:09:57.879 terrible. They have terrible experiences. I had 00:09:57.879 --> 00:10:00.980 a couple once where the married couple were having 00:10:00.980 --> 00:10:03.559 problems with their mother, this gal's mother. 00:10:03.740 --> 00:10:05.259 They just had a terrible time with her and they 00:10:05.259 --> 00:10:07.700 were out of state. And so this young couple would 00:10:07.700 --> 00:10:09.570 send pictures pictures of their children to their 00:10:09.570 --> 00:10:11.490 mother and their mother would get the pictures 00:10:11.490 --> 00:10:13.710 and she'd tear them all up, the baby pictures, 00:10:13.850 --> 00:10:15.710 tear them up, put them back in an envelope and 00:10:15.710 --> 00:10:17.909 send them back and say, I don't want to see these 00:10:17.909 --> 00:10:19.830 disgusting pictures. And it was just terrible. 00:10:19.929 --> 00:10:22.429 And they said, what do we do? How do we get a 00:10:22.429 --> 00:10:24.669 hold of her? And I said, take a postcard and 00:10:24.669 --> 00:10:27.029 just write on there that God loves you and I 00:10:27.029 --> 00:10:28.710 love you. They may still be angry, they may still 00:11:06.539 --> 00:11:08.440 be upset, but they can never get away from the 00:11:08.440 --> 00:11:10.679 fact that you've said that. And I believe those 00:11:10.679 --> 00:11:12.960 words are being led by the Holy Spirit. So let 00:11:12.960 --> 00:11:15.179 me just leave that with you. And I hadn't planned 00:11:15.179 --> 00:11:17.080 to talk about that, but I think there's some 00:11:17.080 --> 00:11:19.019 people out there that may have needed to hear 00:11:19.019 --> 00:11:21.220 those words because you're having a struggling 00:11:21.220 --> 00:11:23.039 relationship with some people and you need to 00:11:23.039 --> 00:11:25.000 know how to write them and how to notify them. 00:11:25.000 --> 00:11:26.539 And I think that's something that you should 00:11:26.539 --> 00:11:29.139 at least try. See, the Holy Spirit will help 00:11:29.139 --> 00:11:33.149 us if we need physical or emotional healing. 00:11:33.590 --> 00:11:37.309 Whenever we need anything, all we must do is 00:11:37.309 --> 00:11:41.149 press into the power inside of us. They still were treating me constantly, 00:16:29.019 --> 00:16:30.899 and they still said there's no cure for it. You see, I don't believe that Satan knows 00:17:12.319 --> 00:17:15.339 our thoughts. Satan only knows what we speak out. Satan 00:17:48.349 --> 00:17:51.109 will suggest to us the thoughts that he wants 00:17:51.109 --> 00:17:54.589 us to accept. And I know I 00:18:08.009 --> 00:18:09.410 said that kind of fast, but that's what he's 00:18:09.410 --> 00:18:11.829 doing. We've all done that. When we're being checked like that, 00:18:22.549 --> 00:18:25.829 that's the Holy Spirit trying to influence. But the Holy Spirit wants 00:18:39.240 --> 00:18:43.279 to influence us so that we will be influencers 00:18:43.279 --> 00:18:46.740 of others, that our words will be led by the 00:18:46.740 --> 00:18:49.220 Holy Spirit and will have great power. The Apostle Paul covers 00:18:52.119 --> 00:18:54.759 this particular topic in 1 Corinthians chapter 00:18:54.759 --> 00:18:57.339 10 and verse 13 in the New Living Translation. 00:18:57.380 --> 00:19:00.180 Listen to this, the temptation in your life are 00:19:00.180 --> 00:19:03.579 no different from what others experience. Let 00:19:03.579 --> 00:19:06.339 me read that again, the temptations in your life 00:19:06.339 --> 00:19:09.039 are no different from what others experience. 00:19:09.180 --> 00:19:10.440 See, other people are going through the same 00:19:10.440 --> 00:19:13.299 thing and God is faithful. The scriptures can apply to us and to other 00:21:50.019 --> 00:21:52.339 people and they do. They apply to everyone that 00:21:52.339 --> 00:21:55.079 we know. With the Holy Spirit, every word we 00:21:55.079 --> 00:21:58.180 speak will be held captive. Every thought is 00:21:58.180 --> 00:22:01.500 ruled by God. He was there when Stephen was 00:26:45.819 --> 00:26:47.859 stoned to death, and he approved of all that. 00:26:47.859 --> 00:26:50.180 And here he was later on, walking down the road 00:26:50.180 --> 00:26:52.339 in the power of God. hit him. That was the Holy 00:26:52.339 --> 00:26:54.480 Spirit hit him and convicted him of his need 00:26:54.480 --> 00:26:56.700 to surrender to Christ and he did and what an 00:26:56.700 --> 00:26:59.220 amazing man of God he became.
