The Spirit of God gave these 00:02:42.219 --> 00:02:45.500 words in Zechariah, it was written down, 4, 6, 00:02:45.719 --> 00:02:48.520 in the New Living Translation. So he said unto 00:02:48.520 --> 00:02:51.819 me, this is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, 00:02:52.319 --> 00:02:56.639 not by might nor by power, but by my spirit says 00:02:56.639 --> 00:03:00.020 the Lord Almighty. You see, we really can't accomplish 00:03:00.020 --> 00:03:02.280 anything compared to what God can accomplish. 00:03:02.639 --> 00:03:05.300 God's ways in the book of Isaiah chapter 55, 00:03:05.439 --> 00:03:07.300 it says his ways are greater than his thoughts 00:03:07.300 --> 00:03:09.280 are greater. It's found in Ephesians 00:07:07.959 --> 00:07:10.819 chapter 2 and verse 8. It says, for by grace 00:07:10.819 --> 00:07:14.100 you have been saved through faith. And this is 00:07:14.100 --> 00:07:17.720 not your own doing. It is the gift of God. Well, 00:07:17.839 --> 00:07:20.839 God's Word is filled with hundreds and hundreds 00:07:20.839 --> 00:07:23.560 and hundreds of examples of gifts and promises 00:07:23.560 --> 00:07:26.019 that he has for followers of Jesus Christ. And 00:07:26.019 --> 00:07:28.120 one of those gifts is the Spirit of God, the 00:07:28.120 --> 00:07:30.819 Holy Spirit who comes to dwell inside of each 00:07:30.819 --> 00:07:33.379 and every believer. And so... I'll drive by somebody's house 00:09:59.120 --> 00:10:00.799 that I haven't seen in a long time. And I'll 00:10:00.799 --> 00:10:03.200 think, oh, that's right. They live there. That's the Holy Spirit helping 00:10:05.659 --> 00:10:09.710 me. to remind me that I need to listen to Him. 00:10:09.789 --> 00:10:12.009 And as I drive by that person's house, I need 00:10:12.009 --> 00:10:14.649 to write it down and remind myself to call that 00:10:14.649 --> 00:10:16.950 person. And I believe the Lord can do that with 00:10:16.950 --> 00:10:19.350 our life and can guide us and direct us. And 00:10:19.350 --> 00:10:21.429 it doesn't happen every time that I drive out 00:10:21.429 --> 00:10:23.529 of the driveway, but there are many times that 00:10:23.529 --> 00:10:26.210 all of a sudden I'll take a turn and go a different 00:10:26.210 --> 00:10:28.789 direction, maybe on my way to something. And 00:10:28.789 --> 00:10:31.889 sure enough, I'll find something in that road 00:10:31.889 --> 00:10:34.309 that I'm on that reminds me of something I need 00:10:34.309 --> 00:10:36.590 to do or I forgot to do. or something that I 00:10:36.590 --> 00:10:40.070 should reactivate in my life. And so it's just 00:10:40.070 --> 00:10:42.649 something that's so wonderful. It's simple, it's 00:10:42.649 --> 00:10:44.769 easy, there's not a lot of pressure, there's 00:10:44.769 --> 00:10:47.830 nothing spooky about it. It's just simply the 00:10:47.830 --> 00:10:50.009 power of God who wants to guide and direct our 00:10:50.009 --> 00:10:52.350 lives. And I'm so thankful when the Lord wakes 00:10:52.350 --> 00:10:54.950 me up, is kind of how I like to call it, he reminds 00:10:54.950 --> 00:10:57.070 me of something that I should do that I haven't 00:10:57.070 --> 00:10:59.509 done, and I thank the Lord for that. Now as we 00:10:59.509 --> 00:11:02.889 move on, the Holy Spirit brings truth. Now we 00:11:02.889 --> 00:11:04.690 know that because the Word of God tells us that. 00:11:04.590 --> 00:11:06.870 We also know it in our own spirit when we receive 00:11:06.870 --> 00:11:09.230 Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior because we have 00:11:09.230 --> 00:11:11.509 the Holy Spirit come to dwell in us and we certainly 00:11:11.509 --> 00:11:14.669 have more clarity on what is truth and what is 00:11:14.669 --> 00:11:18.009 false. What truth, what real truth is and what 00:11:18.009 --> 00:11:21.129 false things are and we know what, we even identify 00:11:21.129 --> 00:11:24.179 sin, what's sin and what's not sin. and it's 00:11:24.179 --> 00:11:25.820 clearer for us because we have the Holy Spirit 00:11:25.820 --> 00:11:28.120 dwelling inside of us. So the Holy Spirit brings 00:11:28.120 --> 00:11:31.580 truth to us. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin 00:11:31.580 --> 00:11:34.240 and our need to receive forgiveness. There's 00:11:34.240 --> 00:11:36.279 not a person out there that's received Jesus 00:11:36.279 --> 00:11:38.480 Christ as Lord and Savior that hasn't sinned 00:11:38.480 --> 00:11:40.580 afterwards. You're not perfect and flawless. 00:11:41.100 --> 00:11:43.759 You do things or say things or act in ways that 00:11:43.759 --> 00:11:46.340 we shouldn't act. I don't know what he's speaking to me 00:12:01.779 --> 00:12:04.240 and whatever, and I have to disagree with that. 00:12:04.379 --> 00:12:07.059 I think any follower of Jesus Christ... often 00:12:07.059 --> 00:12:09.019 has the Holy Spirit speaking to them. Now, it's 00:12:09.019 --> 00:12:11.259 not an audible voice. I've never heard the voice 00:12:11.259 --> 00:12:13.480 of God, an audible voice of God, but I believe 00:12:13.480 --> 00:12:16.360 the Holy Spirit speaks to me and I hear from 00:12:16.360 --> 00:12:19.080 what God wants in me in my life by Him speaking 00:12:19.080 --> 00:12:21.379 to me, like telling me that I need to do this 00:12:21.379 --> 00:12:23.620 or I need to call someone or I need to go back 00:12:23.620 --> 00:12:25.659 and clarify something or I need to apologize 00:12:25.659 --> 00:12:28.139 to someone or I need to call someone that I haven't 00:12:28.139 --> 00:12:30.220 talked to in a long time just to let them know 00:12:30.220 --> 00:12:32.720 that God loves them and God cares for them. That's 00:12:32.720 --> 00:12:35.019 the working of the Holy Spirit and He's working 00:12:35.019 --> 00:12:37.200 in each and every one of us and He is speaking 00:12:37.200 --> 00:12:40.679 to us that way and encouraging us to take action 00:12:40.679 --> 00:12:43.340 in one way or another. The Holy Spirit is drawing 00:12:43.340 --> 00:12:46.700 us in a way that only God can do it. That alone shows you how he helps 00:14:40.480 --> 00:14:43.860 us to have greater faith. You know, it's basically 00:14:43.860 --> 00:14:47.159 saying that the Holy Spirit will come in and 00:14:47.159 --> 00:14:49.340 help us no matter what we're going through, whatever 00:14:49.340 --> 00:14:51.639 challenges we have, whether we have a physical 00:14:51.639 --> 00:14:54.159 problem, whether we're having a financial problem, 00:14:54.220 --> 00:14:56.159 whether we're having an issue. in our marriage 00:14:56.159 --> 00:14:58.419 or with raising our children or whatever it might 00:14:58.419 --> 00:15:00.399 be, the Holy Spirit wants to come in and help 00:15:00.399 --> 00:15:02.620 us and guide and direct us. And so when you read 00:15:02.620 --> 00:15:05.759 Romans 8 26, that applies to every area of our 00:15:05.759 --> 00:15:08.559 life. Well, I mentioned 00:16:21.720 --> 00:16:24.100 a little bit about that earlier in the podcast, 00:16:24.200 --> 00:16:27.440 but what I'm referring to here is that when the 00:16:27.440 --> 00:16:29.519 Spirit of truth comes, that means you know if 00:16:29.519 --> 00:16:31.460 you're seeking for truth, the Holy Spirit will 00:16:31.460 --> 00:16:33.460 bring only truth to you. He doesn't bring lies. 00:16:33.539 --> 00:16:36.399 He doesn't bring falsehoods. He's telling you what's going 00:17:32.750 --> 00:17:35.039 to happen. And you say, You're kidding me. You 00:17:35.039 --> 00:17:36.539 mean he can tell what's going to happen in the 00:17:36.539 --> 00:17:38.000 future? Well, let's put it this way. The Holy 00:17:38.000 --> 00:17:39.599 Spirit knows what's going to happen in the future. 00:17:39.700 --> 00:17:41.980 And he warns us to protect us about what we're 00:17:41.980 --> 00:17:44.160 going to face in the future. He tells us to eat 00:17:44.160 --> 00:17:46.539 better so we'll be healthier in the future. He 00:17:46.539 --> 00:17:48.759 tells us to pray and seek the Lord so we'll be 00:17:48.759 --> 00:17:51.700 led of God in the future. He tells us that we 00:17:51.700 --> 00:17:54.180 should be peacemakers and settle disputes quickly 00:17:54.180 --> 00:17:56.599 because he knows that in the future that'll be 00:17:56.599 --> 00:17:59.920 a blessing to you. A doctor once diagnosed me with a need 00:18:27.619 --> 00:18:30.569 for surgery. and it was in my back. And it was 00:18:30.569 --> 00:18:32.630 not a life or death situation, but it was a very 00:18:32.630 --> 00:18:35.150 serious one that it could affect my ability to 00:18:35.150 --> 00:18:37.569 even walk. And it was something that the doctor 00:18:37.569 --> 00:18:40.190 needed to talk to me about and said, well, the 00:18:40.190 --> 00:18:41.950 only way this is going to be cleared up is if 00:18:41.950 --> 00:18:44.130 you just go and have this surgery and we got 00:18:44.130 --> 00:18:45.890 you scheduled. Matter of fact, tomorrow we can 00:18:45.890 --> 00:18:47.730 take you in. And I was at the hospital and he 00:18:47.730 --> 00:18:49.569 said, you know, that's what I want to do. And 00:18:49.569 --> 00:18:51.470 I just looked at him and I said, I don't think 00:18:51.470 --> 00:18:53.359 so. And my wife was with me, and she said, I 00:18:53.359 --> 00:18:55.500 don't think so either. And I said, I think, Doctor, 00:18:55.599 --> 00:18:57.279 what we need is a little time to pray and seek 00:18:57.279 --> 00:18:59.319 the Lord and make sure that we have His wisdom, 00:18:59.380 --> 00:19:01.180 His guidance. See, I believe that was the Holy 00:19:01.180 --> 00:19:03.170 Spirit telling me. Maybe you're going to have 00:19:03.170 --> 00:19:05.569 surgery, maybe you're not, but not now. Why don't 00:19:05.569 --> 00:19:08.450 you just do what the word says, go to the Lord 00:19:08.450 --> 00:19:10.329 first and ask for help? So I told the doctor 00:19:10.329 --> 00:19:12.009 that, and he said, we know this is serious. If 00:19:12.009 --> 00:19:13.910 this thing doesn't clear up, you could have a 00:19:13.910 --> 00:19:15.450 serious problem in your life. And I said, no, 00:19:15.450 --> 00:19:17.549 we understand that, but let us have some time. 00:19:17.650 --> 00:19:20.390 That's the Holy Spirit telling me to stop. Now, 00:19:20.589 --> 00:19:22.269 there's some times when someone tells you to 00:19:22.269 --> 00:19:24.190 do something, you go right into it, and sometimes 00:19:24.190 --> 00:19:26.089 it works out well, and other times it doesn't. 00:19:26.089 --> 00:19:28.589 In this particular case, I knew that it was better 00:19:28.589 --> 00:19:30.950 not to have surgery than to have surgery in this 00:19:30.950 --> 00:19:34.619 case. So therefore, we prayed, we sought the 00:19:34.619 --> 00:19:36.500 Lord for it, and then we told him, is there anything 00:19:36.500 --> 00:19:38.099 we can do in the meantime? And he said, well, 00:19:38.099 --> 00:19:39.880 I could put you on some antibiotics to help you. 00:19:39.880 --> 00:19:41.819 And I said, OK, let's do that. So he put me on 00:19:41.819 --> 00:19:43.519 the antibiotics, and over a period of a couple 00:19:43.519 --> 00:19:45.380 of months, everything cleared up. And finally, 00:19:45.400 --> 00:19:47.099 the doctor looked at me and said, basically, 00:19:47.500 --> 00:19:50.140 it's all cleared up. There's nothing there. He 00:19:50.140 --> 00:19:53.059 said, I'm amazed, he said, because the antibiotics 00:19:53.059 --> 00:19:55.720 I gave you was just to keep it from getting worse. 00:19:55.839 --> 00:19:57.859 It wasn't really intended that everything would 00:19:57.859 --> 00:19:59.680 clear up and there would be no problem. I didn't 00:19:59.680 --> 00:20:02.039 think the infection would. ever be removed without 00:20:02.039 --> 00:20:05.259 surgery. He said, but that's happened and it's 00:20:05.259 --> 00:20:07.819 cleared and it's healed and the Holy Spirit's 00:20:07.819 --> 00:20:09.619 the one that gets the credit for that because 00:20:09.619 --> 00:20:12.500 he told us to stop and to pray and seek the Lord 00:20:12.500 --> 00:20:15.420 and see what he wants us to do. And the surgeon 00:20:15.420 --> 00:20:17.960 then basically said, well, I have to agree with 00:20:17.960 --> 00:20:20.339 you. You made the right decision. And we just 00:20:20.339 --> 00:20:22.640 give God all the glory and praise for it. Never 00:20:22.640 --> 00:20:25.220 had to have the surgery and I believe in Jesus' 00:20:25.400 --> 00:20:27.460 name will not have to ever have it. You see, 00:20:27.460 --> 00:20:29.940 looking back on that story, I even know that 00:20:29.940 --> 00:20:31.410 the The Holy Spirit knew what was going to happen. 00:20:31.569 --> 00:20:33.650 He knew the future because He's God and the person 00:20:33.650 --> 00:20:35.470 of the Holy Spirit. And He knew what was going 00:20:35.470 --> 00:20:38.670 to happen. If I listened and obeyed to His voice, 00:20:38.789 --> 00:20:41.009 then He had a wonderful plan for me. Here's another 00:20:41.009 --> 00:20:43.170 scripture that has to do with this topic. For the Spirit pleads for us 00:20:53.269 --> 00:20:56.670 believers in harmony with God's own will. You 00:20:56.670 --> 00:20:59.309 know, that scripture is one that I could use 00:20:59.309 --> 00:21:02.390 to do an entire podcast on because it just simply 00:21:02.390 --> 00:21:05.710 tells us so much about how the Father and the 00:21:05.710 --> 00:21:08.710 Holy Spirit work together for us to live in God's 00:21:08.710 --> 00:21:10.849 will and how the Holy Spirit wants to guide us 00:21:10.849 --> 00:21:13.589 as we move into the future. He knows what's out 00:21:13.589 --> 00:21:15.569 there and He wants to help and lead us so that 00:21:15.569 --> 00:21:17.700 we may the right decisions, we make the right 00:21:17.700 --> 00:21:20.299 choices, we take the right, the correct actions, 00:21:20.480 --> 00:21:22.400 and we know we'll do that if we're being led 00:21:22.400 --> 00:21:25.019 by the Spirit of God.
