Even though 00:00:18.500 --> 00:00:20.760 we will make mistakes, even though we'll say 00:00:20.760 --> 00:00:22.500 things or do things that we probably shouldn't 00:00:22.500 --> 00:00:26.120 do, bottom line, He is with us every single moment 00:00:26.120 --> 00:00:28.120 of every single day. And so we're going to talk 00:00:28.120 --> 00:00:30.579 about a number of things about how the Holy Spirit 00:00:30.579 --> 00:00:32.500 wants to work with us. us and how we can submit 00:00:32.500 --> 00:00:34.719 to him and yield to him and that he wants to 00:00:34.719 --> 00:00:37.020 be our helper. I started this subject 00:02:04.579 --> 00:02:06.640 that later on became a book that I wrote but 00:02:06.640 --> 00:02:09.520 I started this subject and in my podcast and 00:02:09.520 --> 00:02:12.340 right after I started a week or so into it all 00:02:12.340 --> 00:02:15.199 of a sudden Russia attacked the Ukraine and I 00:02:15.199 --> 00:02:17.379 thought Lord just bless those people and help 00:02:17.379 --> 00:02:19.759 them and I went to look at see what's happening 00:02:19.759 --> 00:02:22.030 in my download you know, around the world, where 00:02:22.030 --> 00:02:24.389 they go, because this is on the internet, and 00:02:24.389 --> 00:02:26.729 all of a sudden I noticed a large increase in 00:02:26.729 --> 00:02:29.289 people tuning in and listening in from the Ukraine, 00:02:29.370 --> 00:02:31.750 and what an amazing blessing that was, and I 00:02:31.750 --> 00:02:33.590 just thank the Lord for that. See, that's how 00:02:33.590 --> 00:02:36.169 the Holy Spirit works. He gets us prepared, He 00:02:36.169 --> 00:02:38.610 sets us up, He plans things for us, then He just 00:02:38.610 --> 00:02:41.229 wants us to submit ourselves to Him and be led 00:02:41.229 --> 00:02:43.810 by the Holy Spirit to do what He wants us to 00:02:43.810 --> 00:02:46.310 do. So let's continue now into today's podcast 00:02:46.310 --> 00:02:49.030 entitled, Holy Spirit, Our Helper. There's a 00:02:49.030 --> 00:02:51.659 number of scriptures can use to describe how 00:02:51.659 --> 00:02:53.840 he's the helper, but I want to start with a scripture 00:02:53.840 --> 00:02:56.900 that addresses my topic today very specifically, 00:02:57.000 --> 00:02:59.120 and it's found in the New King James Version. 00:02:59.219 --> 00:03:01.460 I don't use that very often, but I really like 00:03:01.460 --> 00:03:03.860 this translation for this particular scripture. 00:03:04.120 --> 00:03:07.520 It's found in John chapter 14 and verse 16. Jesus 00:03:07.520 --> 00:03:10.199 is speaking now to his disciples and telling 00:03:10.199 --> 00:03:13.020 them that he's going to be with his father. So 00:03:13.020 --> 00:03:15.360 let's start in verse number 16. Jesus said these 00:03:15.360 --> 00:03:18.539 words, and I will pray the Father. He's seeking 00:03:18.539 --> 00:03:21.699 God. He's seeking his Father. He's here, God 00:03:21.699 --> 00:03:24.900 on earth, but he's seeking his Father and praying. 00:03:25.180 --> 00:03:27.099 Boy, if that doesn't tell us the importance of 00:03:27.099 --> 00:03:29.360 prayer, I don't know what else would. And then 00:03:29.360 --> 00:03:32.560 he says, and he will give. You, another helper, 00:03:32.659 --> 00:03:34.979 he's telling these people that, that there'll 00:03:34.979 --> 00:03:37.699 be another helper when he leaves, that he may 00:03:37.699 --> 00:03:41.020 abide with you forever. Verse 17, the spirit 00:03:41.020 --> 00:03:44.259 of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because 00:03:44.259 --> 00:03:47.740 it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know 00:03:47.740 --> 00:03:51.349 him. for he dwells within you and will be in 00:03:51.349 --> 00:03:54.289 you. And then verse 18 says, I will not leave 00:03:54.289 --> 00:03:57.430 you as orphans, I will come to you. Now that 00:03:57.430 --> 00:04:00.990 scripture tells me so much about what Jesus wanted 00:04:00.990 --> 00:04:03.250 the Holy Spirit to do. He says that He is the 00:04:03.250 --> 00:04:05.490 Spirit of Truth. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit 00:04:05.490 --> 00:04:07.430 of Truth. Now, if we're looking for truth and 00:04:07.430 --> 00:04:09.650 getting the truth to answers, well, we have that 00:04:09.650 --> 00:04:11.990 option. If you're really seeking for truth, you 00:04:11.990 --> 00:04:13.949 need to find Jesus. And then when you find Jesus, 00:04:14.150 --> 00:04:15.930 the Holy Spirit comes to live and dwell in us. 00:04:15.930 --> 00:04:18.689 So we have the Spirit of Truth dwelling in us. 00:04:18.709 --> 00:04:21.009 Now, some people might say, well, I have a rough 00:04:21.009 --> 00:04:23.370 time maybe being truthful all the time. Does 00:04:23.370 --> 00:04:25.209 that mean I don't have the Holy Spirit? No. If 00:04:25.209 --> 00:04:27.230 you've given your heart to Jesus Christ, you've 00:04:27.230 --> 00:04:29.449 surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, you have 00:04:29.449 --> 00:04:31.430 the Spirit of Truth living in you, that doesn't 00:04:31.370 --> 00:04:33.350 mean you're going to become a perfect person, 00:04:33.449 --> 00:04:34.910 that you're going to do everything right all 00:04:34.910 --> 00:04:36.569 the time. You're going to make mistakes. But 00:04:36.569 --> 00:04:38.529 what's wonderful about the Holy Spirit dwelling 00:04:38.529 --> 00:04:41.189 in us is that when we make a mistake, He helps 00:04:41.189 --> 00:04:44.069 us. He points it out. He encourages us to ask 00:04:44.069 --> 00:04:46.829 for forgiveness and to move on and to not dwell 00:04:46.829 --> 00:04:49.009 and beat ourselves up just because we made a 00:04:49.009 --> 00:04:51.889 mistake. So the Spirit of Truth is inside of 00:04:51.889 --> 00:04:54.649 us to help us live a life of truth. And it says, 00:04:54.889 --> 00:04:57.209 whom the world cannot receive because they don't 00:04:57.209 --> 00:04:59.069 know Him. They've not given our life to Jesus 00:04:59.069 --> 00:05:01.430 Christ. They don't understand the Holy That's 00:05:01.430 --> 00:05:03.810 why when I do podcasts on the Holy Spirit, I 00:05:03.810 --> 00:05:06.610 get an increase in so many people who want to 00:05:06.610 --> 00:05:08.709 listen to what I have to say and what the Holy 00:05:08.709 --> 00:05:11.269 Spirit has to say about the teaching of the Holy 00:05:11.269 --> 00:05:13.490 Spirit and that we're drawn to the Holy Spirit 00:05:13.490 --> 00:05:15.750 because He dwells inside each and every one of 00:05:15.750 --> 00:05:18.370 us. Jesus says, He says, they don't know Him 00:05:18.370 --> 00:05:20.970 and that's sad and we don't say, oh, they don't 00:05:20.970 --> 00:05:22.990 know Him and that's just too bad. No, not at 00:05:22.990 --> 00:05:26.029 all. We should never, ever, ever feel. upset 00:05:26.029 --> 00:05:28.790 with people who don't know Jesus, we should encourage 00:05:28.790 --> 00:05:31.970 them to know Christ, encourage them to seek the 00:05:31.970 --> 00:05:33.889 things of God and to get into the Word of God 00:05:33.889 --> 00:05:36.410 and bless them and reach out to them and never 00:05:36.410 --> 00:05:38.680 give up on them. You know, I've known of young 00:05:38.680 --> 00:05:41.199 men and women in our church who were on fire 00:05:41.199 --> 00:05:42.959 for the Lord and excited about the things of 00:05:42.959 --> 00:05:45.100 God. And then they got sidetracked in college 00:05:45.100 --> 00:05:47.300 or through other individuals and dread them into 00:05:47.300 --> 00:05:50.060 a life or kind of entice them to go into a life 00:05:50.060 --> 00:05:52.300 that was really not the type of life a Christian 00:05:52.300 --> 00:05:54.800 should live. And we can't give up on those folks. 00:05:54.800 --> 00:05:57.500 We can't give up on our loved ones who are struggling 00:05:57.500 --> 00:05:59.519 with challenges in their life. We need to pray 00:05:59.519 --> 00:06:01.600 for them and believe that the Holy Spirit who 00:06:01.600 --> 00:06:04.680 is still around them and influencing them and 00:06:04.680 --> 00:06:06.959 touching them can help them to draw them out 00:06:06.959 --> 00:06:09.459 of the life that they know is incorrect and get 00:06:09.459 --> 00:06:11.680 them back to a right relationship with God and 00:06:11.680 --> 00:06:13.899 only the Holy Spirit can do that because only 00:06:13.899 --> 00:06:16.839 the Holy Spirit draws people from sin from out 00:06:16.839 --> 00:06:19.000 of the darkness and into the light and that's 00:06:19.000 --> 00:06:20.939 kind of what Jesus was talking about when he 00:06:20.939 --> 00:06:22.819 was talking to his followers and telling them 00:06:22.819 --> 00:06:25.540 that the people who don't know him don't have 00:06:25.540 --> 00:06:27.920 the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of them but that 00:06:27.920 --> 00:06:30.300 the Holy Spirit still wants to draw them and 00:06:30.300 --> 00:06:32.360 pull them to a right relationship and he said 00:06:32.360 --> 00:06:34.360 that the Holy Spirit would there be there to 00:06:34.360 --> 00:06:36.529 help those who are followers of Jesus Christ 00:06:36.529 --> 00:06:38.689 that he would be their comforter and he would 00:06:38.689 --> 00:06:41.009 be the one that would be there and that Jesus 00:06:41.009 --> 00:06:42.949 said when I'm gone I'm not gonna leave you as 00:06:42.949 --> 00:06:45.209 orphans I'm not gonna leave you alone I will 00:06:45.209 --> 00:06:47.670 come to you again he says but while I'm gone 00:06:47.670 --> 00:06:50.290 the Holy Spirit he's saying is going to be here 00:06:50.290 --> 00:06:52.509 to help us and walk with us and we we need to 00:06:52.509 --> 00:06:54.490 know that as Christians you know we all go through 00:06:54.490 --> 00:06:56.629 trials in our life we all go through challenges 00:06:56.629 --> 00:06:58.949 where we're wondering why did this happen how 00:06:58.949 --> 00:07:01.009 come that happened whatever it might be but as 00:07:01.009 --> 00:07:03.350 a follower of Jesus Christ we have the Holy Spirit 00:07:03.350 --> 00:07:06.009 dwelling inside of us we need to stop and just 00:07:06.009 --> 00:07:08.110 ask for him to help, ask for him to come into 00:07:08.110 --> 00:07:10.769 our lives and help us to get through a challenge 00:07:10.769 --> 00:07:13.610 and that he would encourage us and bless us. 00:07:13.689 --> 00:07:15.689 And as we go through these podcasts, we're going 00:07:15.689 --> 00:07:17.610 to talk about different situations where the 00:07:17.610 --> 00:07:20.050 Holy Spirit has helped me and helped other individuals 00:07:20.050 --> 00:07:22.670 and drawn them into a proper relationship with 00:07:22.670 --> 00:07:25.610 the Lord Jesus Christ. You know, Jesus was confirming 00:07:25.610 --> 00:07:28.500 to all of his followers that he would not leave 00:07:28.500 --> 00:07:30.939 them or forsake them and he was comforting them 00:07:30.939 --> 00:07:33.399 and letting them know about the promise of the 00:07:33.399 --> 00:07:35.579 Holy Spirit. So if you're going through something 00:07:35.579 --> 00:07:38.000 right now and you're maybe challenged going through 00:07:38.000 --> 00:07:39.980 a difficult time, it might be a sickness, it 00:07:39.980 --> 00:07:42.319 might be a marital issue, it might be a work 00:07:42.319 --> 00:07:44.019 issue, it might be financial, I don't know what 00:07:44.019 --> 00:07:45.680 it is, but whatever you're going through right 00:07:45.680 --> 00:07:48.560 now, let me encourage you about the promise of 00:07:48.560 --> 00:07:50.939 the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is there to 00:07:50.939 --> 00:07:53.300 help and guide and direct and I just pray that 00:07:53.300 --> 00:07:55.920 you'd reach out to him now and yield to him and 00:07:55.920 --> 00:07:58.639 ask for his presence and his power in your life. 00:07:58.800 --> 00:08:02.000 You see, the Holy Spirit came to Jesus when he 00:08:02.000 --> 00:08:05.079 was baptized in water. Jesus was moving into 00:08:05.079 --> 00:08:07.819 his full -time ministry and the Holy Spirit came 00:08:07.819 --> 00:08:10.379 upon him and filled him. We read about it in 00:08:10.379 --> 00:08:13.240 the book of Matthew chapter 3 verse 16 in the 00:08:13.240 --> 00:08:15.540 New International Version. Listen to what these 00:08:15.540 --> 00:08:18.600 words say. As soon as Jesus was baptized, he 00:08:18.600 --> 00:08:21.680 went up out of the water. At that moment, heaven 00:08:21.680 --> 00:08:25.259 was opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending 00:08:25.259 --> 00:08:29.180 like a dove and the lighting on him which means 00:08:29.180 --> 00:08:32.279 descending upon him and coming upon him and that 00:08:32.279 --> 00:08:34.980 was the beginning of his full ministry. Oh, we 00:08:34.980 --> 00:08:37.740 know prior to that he was speaking in the synagogues 00:08:37.740 --> 00:08:41.090 and he was still God's Son, and He was Jesus, 00:08:41.149 --> 00:08:43.450 He was God in the flesh. But now when the Holy 00:08:43.450 --> 00:08:46.789 Spirit came, He brought a new level of revelation 00:08:46.789 --> 00:08:49.690 and life and understanding into Jesus' heart 00:08:49.690 --> 00:08:51.809 and mind. You see, when the Holy Spirit came 00:08:51.809 --> 00:08:55.750 to Jesus, He confirmed the identity of Jesus, 00:08:55.990 --> 00:08:59.590 and God confirmed how pleased He was with Jesus 00:08:59.590 --> 00:09:01.750 Christ. And that's what the Holy Spirit does 00:09:01.750 --> 00:09:04.570 for us when He comes into our life. When we become 00:09:04.570 --> 00:09:07.330 followers of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit descends 00:09:07.330 --> 00:09:10.360 upon us. and we are blessed with our spiritual 00:09:10.360 --> 00:09:12.879 helper for life. So no matter what you're going 00:09:12.879 --> 00:09:15.039 through right now, he's there to help you. So 00:09:15.039 --> 00:09:16.899 let me just pray for you. Now, what does it mean to 00:10:07.259 --> 00:10:10.139 us? What really does that mean to us when we 00:10:10.139 --> 00:10:11.940 think about the Holy Spirit being available to 00:10:11.940 --> 00:10:14.419 us to help us and be our helper? Well, we are 00:10:14.419 --> 00:10:18.039 able to ask the Holy Spirit for help, for guidance, 00:10:18.379 --> 00:10:21.820 for comfort, for wisdom, but we must yield our 00:10:21.820 --> 00:10:23.740 body. That's so important. The key word there 00:10:23.740 --> 00:10:27.059 is yield. We must yield our body, soul, and spirit 00:10:27.059 --> 00:10:29.899 to Him. We must dismiss all the thoughts around 00:10:29.899 --> 00:10:32.320 us and just seek Him. And I know sometimes that's 00:10:32.320 --> 00:10:33.960 hard, that's difficult when you're going through 00:10:33.960 --> 00:10:35.759 something. But let me just tell you, when you're 00:10:35.759 --> 00:10:38.500 going through something, please don't let that 00:10:38.500 --> 00:10:41.120 interfere with what you're going to. See, the 00:10:41.120 --> 00:10:44.059 Apostle Paul said he calls forth those things 00:10:44.059 --> 00:10:46.539 that are not as though that they are, which means 00:10:46.539 --> 00:10:48.639 that in the middle of a trial, in the middle 00:10:48.639 --> 00:10:51.340 of difficult times, circumstances, we're in. 00:10:51.470 --> 00:10:54.090 We've got to get above that and get away from 00:10:54.090 --> 00:10:56.049 that. And it's not easy. I understand that. I 00:10:56.049 --> 00:10:57.970 know what it's like to be diagnosed with cancers. 00:10:58.250 --> 00:11:01.009 I know what it's like to be diagnosed that you 00:11:01.009 --> 00:11:03.210 have an incurable disease and told maybe you 00:11:03.210 --> 00:11:04.950 only have a few months to live. These are things 00:11:04.950 --> 00:11:06.950 that I've experienced in my own life. And yeah, 00:11:06.950 --> 00:11:08.909 there's a moment where you just say, wow, that's 00:11:08.909 --> 00:11:11.539 pretty powerful. But then you've got to... Allow 00:11:11.539 --> 00:11:13.879 the Holy Spirit to come and give us that comfort 00:11:13.879 --> 00:11:16.200 and help us I remember and I know I've said this 00:11:16.200 --> 00:11:18.139 in other podcasts and forgive me for saying it 00:11:18.139 --> 00:11:20.919 again But when I was diagnosed with incurable 00:11:20.919 --> 00:11:23.779 cancer and given maybe only six months to live 00:11:23.779 --> 00:11:26.080 It was the Holy Spirit not me It was the Holy 00:11:26.080 --> 00:11:28.799 Spirit who instantly told me to look at the doctor 00:11:28.799 --> 00:11:30.960 and say you mean you're trying to scare me with 00:11:30.960 --> 00:11:33.399 heaven You see that's a Holy Spirit response, 00:11:33.580 --> 00:11:35.940 please forgive me for using it again But I just 00:11:35.940 --> 00:11:38.379 think it's so important that we've got to understand 00:11:38.379 --> 00:11:40.590 that we go through trials and circumstances But 00:11:40.590 --> 00:11:43.169 it's the Holy Spirit that will remind us of the 00:11:43.169 --> 00:11:45.690 promises of God and what God wants to take us 00:11:45.690 --> 00:11:49.230 true to what he wants to lead us into the life 00:11:49.230 --> 00:11:51.190 that he wants us to have and deliver us from 00:11:51.190 --> 00:11:53.909 whatever we're going through and Receive that 00:11:53.909 --> 00:11:56.429 and walk in the power and the glory of the Holy 00:11:56.429 --> 00:11:58.929 Spirit when we yield to the Holy Spirit Totally 00:11:58.929 --> 00:12:01.889 in body soul and spirit we get the attention 00:12:01.889 --> 00:12:04.230 of God. There's no question about it. We must 00:12:04.230 --> 00:12:07.720 stop talking how we will handle the issues of 00:12:07.720 --> 00:12:10.919 life and begin to seek God's will and His purpose 00:12:10.919 --> 00:12:13.919 and His promises for us. Let's stop and yield 00:12:13.919 --> 00:12:15.960 to the Holy Spirit. Matter of fact, let's do 00:12:15.960 --> 00:12:18.120 that right now. Heavenly Father, we yield to 00:12:18.120 --> 00:12:20.200 You. We submit to You. It doesn't happen. And many times we think, well, 00:17:42.210 --> 00:17:43.750 I asked for that and I prayed for that and I 00:17:43.750 --> 00:17:45.650 wanted God to do that and how come I didn't get 00:17:45.650 --> 00:17:48.609 it? Well, it's possibly that it's no or it's 00:17:48.609 --> 00:17:51.029 not now and that's the Holy Spirit working in 00:17:51.029 --> 00:17:53.390 us. We've got to understand when that happens 00:17:53.390 --> 00:17:56.029 that we just give credit to the Lord. And I remember 00:18:48.859 --> 00:18:51.279 at times we would go to do a project and we would 00:18:51.279 --> 00:18:53.160 probably say, Lord, we want to do this project. 00:18:53.220 --> 00:18:55.119 It looks good. It meets all the requirements, 00:18:55.380 --> 00:18:57.680 all of our due diligence that we've done to check 00:18:57.680 --> 00:18:59.299 it out. And so we want to go ahead and do it. 00:18:59.319 --> 00:19:01.859 And it falls through. And so then there have 00:19:01.859 --> 00:19:04.519 been times and unfortunately a couple of times 00:19:04.519 --> 00:19:06.240 we just kind of pushed through even though there 00:19:06.240 --> 00:19:08.779 was doubt and confusion and made the thing happen 00:19:08.779 --> 00:19:11.799 and in both cases that happened we built a project 00:19:11.799 --> 00:19:13.480 that we should never have built. The Lord was 00:19:13.480 --> 00:19:15.180 warning us and trying to help us and the Holy 00:19:15.180 --> 00:19:16.940 Spirit was trying to keep us away from that but 00:19:16.940 --> 00:19:18.660 we pushed into it ourselves and we said well 00:19:18.660 --> 00:19:20.380 I know what I should do and we did and we made 00:19:20.380 --> 00:19:22.599 a huge mistake and it went on for years that 00:19:22.599 --> 00:19:24.819 this thing was a problem but then the Lord helped 00:19:24.819 --> 00:19:27.279 us to clean the whole thing up and move on and 00:19:27.279 --> 00:19:29.839 get rid of those properties.
