We did a recent episode about the consequences 00:02:40.539 --> 00:02:43.909 of sin. Because the consequences, they're like 00:02:43.909 --> 00:02:48.129 a ripple effect that go out among others around 00:02:48.129 --> 00:02:52.270 you. That your sin that you do yourself isn't 00:02:52.270 --> 00:02:55.569 just affecting you. And it's not just affecting 00:02:55.569 --> 00:02:57.669 your relationship with God. It affects other 00:02:57.669 --> 00:03:00.289 people because you're allowing some darkness 00:03:00.289 --> 00:03:04.409 in and affects others. So one of the scriptures 00:03:04.409 --> 00:03:08.099 that has bothered me for... oh, probably decades, 00:03:08.400 --> 00:03:14.460 is Psalm 51, 4, where David is confessing his 00:03:14.460 --> 00:03:17.699 sin and he's repenting from his sin of having 00:03:17.699 --> 00:03:20.319 had an adulterous relationship with Bathsheba, 00:03:20.419 --> 00:03:23.639 his neighbor's wife, and his neighbor Uriah, 00:03:23.699 --> 00:03:26.340 who was one of his mighty men. Sent him to the 00:03:26.340 --> 00:03:28.840 front line purposely to get him killed. Yeah, 00:03:28.840 --> 00:03:31.800 yeah. Basically, Uriah's blood was on David's 00:03:31.800 --> 00:03:36.569 hands, really. So in this verse, David is saying 00:03:36.569 --> 00:03:41.009 against you, he's talking to God, against you, 00:03:41.050 --> 00:03:44.550 you only have I sinned and done this evil in 00:03:44.550 --> 00:03:47.349 your sight that you may be found just when you 00:03:47.349 --> 00:03:49.930 speak and blameless when you judge. And that 00:03:49.930 --> 00:03:55.319 just irked me that no. David, you're not seeing 00:03:55.319 --> 00:03:57.740 the big picture. This is hurting a whole lot 00:03:57.740 --> 00:04:01.520 of people. And the ripple effect was huge. We 00:04:01.520 --> 00:04:04.219 didn't mention it. We talked about this subject 00:04:04.219 --> 00:04:06.879 in that previous podcast. But we didn't talk 00:04:06.879 --> 00:04:09.939 about the fact that Ahithophel, who was one of 00:04:09.939 --> 00:04:13.379 David's counselors, turned on him because he 00:04:13.379 --> 00:04:16.980 was bitter and angry at David because Bathsheba 00:04:16.980 --> 00:04:21.680 was his granddaughter. So that's why he sided 00:04:21.680 --> 00:04:26.560 with... Absalom. When Absalom revolted against 00:04:26.560 --> 00:04:30.800 his father. It gave a legal right for that to 00:04:30.800 --> 00:04:34.319 happen. Exactly. All of these things were a ripple 00:04:34.319 --> 00:04:37.139 effect. And I began to realize, hey, our 00:07:05.100 --> 00:07:10.220 sins, regardless of whom we sin against, our 00:07:10.220 --> 00:07:14.009 sins are really Against the Lord, because he 00:07:14.009 --> 00:07:17.529 gave us the rules. And then he goes on in the next 00:08:33.000 --> 00:08:36.639 verse and says, but don't eat of the tree of 00:08:36.639 --> 00:08:38.500 the knowledge of good and evil. Don't eat of 00:08:38.500 --> 00:08:41.340 that fruit. Because in the day that you eat of 00:08:41.340 --> 00:08:43.919 it. You shall surely die. In the 00:10:27.889 --> 00:10:30.169 King James, it says, But your iniquities have 00:10:30.169 --> 00:10:33.090 separated between you and your God, and your 00:10:33.090 --> 00:10:36.049 sins have hid His face from you that He will 00:10:36.049 --> 00:10:40.080 not hear. And in the margin, it says, have made 00:10:40.080 --> 00:10:44.460 him hide his face from you but in the literal 00:10:44.460 --> 00:10:46.700 translations like young's literal translation 00:10:46.700 --> 00:10:50.779 it says but your iniquities have been separating 00:10:50.779 --> 00:10:54.580 between you and your god and your sins have hidden 00:10:54.580 --> 00:11:00.299 the presence from you from here yeah so you know 00:11:00.299 --> 00:11:02.240 when the presence of god leaves you when you've 00:11:02.240 --> 00:11:05.000 done something yeah well that that was part of 00:11:05.000 --> 00:11:07.129 what david prayed in that Psalm that we started 00:11:07.129 --> 00:11:10.750 with in Psalm 51, take not your Holy Spirit from 00:11:10.750 --> 00:11:13.110 me.
