A heist is a more specific 00:01:50.030 --> 00:01:54.069 word because it is a planned action to steal 00:01:54.069 --> 00:01:57.549 something that is very valuable like art money 00:01:57.549 --> 00:02:00.689 or jewelry this is one of the key differences 00:02:00.689 --> 00:02:04.030 between a heist and a more spontaneous crime 00:02:04.030 --> 00:02:06.829 spontaneous means that it just happens in the 00:02:06.829 --> 00:02:09.870 moment you're not planning it ahead of time a 00:02:09.870 --> 00:02:12.930 heist is organized and intentional what happened 00:02:12.930 --> 00:02:16.229 at the louvre museum was a heist because they 00:02:16.229 --> 00:02:21.189 targeted the museum's jewels The goal of a heist 00:02:21.189 --> 00:02:24.110 is simple. Usually when 00:04:24.509 --> 00:04:27.310 there is a team of people who are doing a heist, 00:04:27.350 --> 00:04:30.589 there is a mastermind who is the person who actually 00:04:30.589 --> 00:04:34.870 plans the heist. And then the accomplices, people 00:04:34.870 --> 00:04:38.769 who help with the crime. Sometimes a heist is 00:04:38.769 --> 00:04:42.769 even an inside job. An inside job means that 00:04:42.769 --> 00:04:46.230 one or more of the people who are involved with 00:04:46.230 --> 00:04:49.589 the crime actually work in the building that 00:04:49.589 --> 00:04:52.949 is being targeted. In the Louvre case, there 00:04:52.949 --> 00:04:56.410 was some investigation to see if one of the members 00:04:56.410 --> 00:04:59.149 of the security staff had helped the thieves. 00:04:59.350 --> 00:05:02.050 At the time of this recording, there hasn't been 00:05:02.050 --> 00:05:05.509 further details. A disguise 00:05:12.889 --> 00:05:16.589 is something that hides your identity. In many 00:05:16.589 --> 00:05:19.089 heists, disguises are one of the most important 00:05:19.089 --> 00:05:21.949 tools because they allow thieves to blend in 00:05:21.949 --> 00:05:25.470 and avoid suspicion. Blend in means that people 00:05:25.470 --> 00:05:28.589 don't notice them. They don't stand out. They 00:05:28.589 --> 00:05:31.360 don't look like they're out of place.
