He was located 00:03:00.439 --> 00:03:05.740 at the temple, specifically at the gate called 00:03:05.740 --> 00:03:09.620 Beautiful. This was a temple in Jerusalem. Now, 00:03:09.620 --> 00:03:12.500 some people, the Bible says that there were some 00:03:12.500 --> 00:03:16.340 people that carried this man to the gate. This 00:03:16.340 --> 00:03:19.360 gate was not just a spiritual entry to the house 00:03:19.360 --> 00:03:23.240 of God, but it was also a monumental wonder. 00:03:23.580 --> 00:03:26.580 Its greatness didn't compare to any other gate 00:03:26.580 --> 00:03:31.620 in Jerusalem. Now, I don't know if you know a 00:03:31.620 --> 00:03:34.240 little bit about this gate, but it was known 00:03:34.240 --> 00:03:37.780 for its extraordinary beauty, made of bronze. 00:03:38.599 --> 00:03:41.479 This gate was not just any door, but a declaration 00:03:41.479 --> 00:03:45.750 of greatness, standing at about 70 feet. tall, 00:03:45.909 --> 00:03:50.370 60 feet wide. Now, if you would just pause for 00:03:50.370 --> 00:03:55.530 a moment, that is a huge door. That is a huge 00:03:55.530 --> 00:04:00.930 gate. It was so big that it required 20 men to 00:04:00.930 --> 00:04:03.250 open the gate and close it every single day. 00:04:04.810 --> 00:04:08.449 This gate was the entrance to a divine place 00:04:08.449 --> 00:04:12.539 where heaven met earth. Where prayer happened 00:04:12.539 --> 00:04:17.079 and where people would seek God's mercy. But 00:04:17.079 --> 00:04:20.920 despite the splendor of this gate, you would 00:04:20.920 --> 00:04:25.060 find many people being carried to this gate. 00:04:25.240 --> 00:04:29.459 The blind, the sick, the lame, those who were 00:04:29.459 --> 00:04:36.040 in need would be carried to this gate. Because 00:04:36.040 --> 00:04:38.600 they knew that the Jews would pray three times 00:04:38.600 --> 00:04:42.600 a day. And when they would come to the temple 00:04:42.600 --> 00:04:46.899 to pray, they knew they could potentially receive 00:04:46.899 --> 00:04:50.399 something from the people coming to the temple 00:04:50.399 --> 00:04:54.899 for prayer. Now, when we read this passage, we 00:04:54.899 --> 00:04:58.939 could look at every detail and everyone who participated 00:04:58.939 --> 00:05:03.000 in this passage that we just read. We can focus 00:05:03.000 --> 00:05:08.399 on Jesus Christ as he is the center of this miracle. 00:05:09.180 --> 00:05:11.800 He's the center of each miracle, of each message, 00:05:11.980 --> 00:05:15.019 of each moment in the scripture, amen? In this 00:05:15.019 --> 00:05:18.319 story, the name of Jesus is the fountain of healing. 00:05:19.180 --> 00:05:23.560 It wasn't Peter and it wasn't John, but it was 00:05:23.560 --> 00:05:27.379 the authority in the name of Jesus Christ that 00:05:27.379 --> 00:05:31.980 brought healing to this man. If we look further, 00:05:32.160 --> 00:05:35.600 we can focus on Peter. We could talk about John. 00:05:35.800 --> 00:05:39.699 We knew who they were. Great leaders set examples. 00:05:39.819 --> 00:05:42.319 They were used by God, filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:05:45.019 --> 00:05:48.699 But in this passage, when Peter and John walked 00:05:48.699 --> 00:05:53.259 by, I love something that they did. They took 00:05:53.259 --> 00:05:57.319 time to pray for this man. They could have easily 00:05:57.319 --> 00:06:01.379 ignored him, but they chose not to. We could 00:06:01.379 --> 00:06:04.720 also look at the... Lame man himself, the beggar, 00:06:04.779 --> 00:06:07.360 which here in this passage simply represents 00:06:07.360 --> 00:06:12.779 a symbolism of humanity without Christ. A man 00:06:12.779 --> 00:06:15.819 who was lame from birth representing you and 00:06:15.819 --> 00:06:21.139 I. What life is without Jesus. Just brokenness, 00:06:21.139 --> 00:06:25.680 being excluded, in need of a savior, in need 00:06:25.680 --> 00:06:28.560 of redemption. Amen? But when we look at the 00:06:28.560 --> 00:06:32.060 passage as a whole, I want to walk you through 00:06:32.060 --> 00:06:35.620 the process of this miracle. Because there was 00:06:35.620 --> 00:06:39.139 different people that played a key part for this 00:06:39.139 --> 00:06:42.220 miracle to occur. And I want to start off by 00:06:42.220 --> 00:06:45.680 focusing on the people who are not even mentioned. 00:06:46.600 --> 00:06:50.779 The first verse says, the second verse, now a 00:06:50.779 --> 00:06:54.259 man who was lame from birth was being carried. 00:06:56.100 --> 00:07:00.829 It doesn't tell us who carried him. We don't 00:07:00.829 --> 00:07:05.449 know who it was. We don't know their names. We 00:07:05.449 --> 00:07:08.009 don't know how many. We don't know if it was 00:07:08.009 --> 00:07:11.329 two men or if a man and his wife or if they were 00:07:11.329 --> 00:07:15.170 cousins. We don't know no details about them. 00:07:16.290 --> 00:07:19.850 We just know that it was some people that would 00:07:19.850 --> 00:07:23.389 carry these men or in this passage, this lame 00:07:23.389 --> 00:07:29.649 man to the gate every single day. Every single 00:07:29.649 --> 00:07:34.230 day, they devoted themselves to carry him in 00:07:34.230 --> 00:07:39.470 hope that he would receive something. Now, if 00:07:39.470 --> 00:07:43.189 we stop for a moment, it wasn't their job. The 00:07:43.189 --> 00:07:45.430 Bible doesn't say that this was somebody's job 00:07:45.430 --> 00:07:48.550 to do this. It doesn't say that it was their 00:07:48.550 --> 00:07:50.910 duty. It doesn't say that they were getting paid 00:07:50.910 --> 00:07:55.430 for this. It just says that some people carried 00:07:55.430 --> 00:07:58.680 him to the gate. And I want to tell you that 00:07:58.680 --> 00:08:02.100 the miracle of this man started with the carriers. 00:08:02.759 --> 00:08:05.519 The miracle of this man started because there 00:08:05.519 --> 00:08:08.680 was people around there that felt it in their 00:08:08.680 --> 00:08:12.819 hearts, that felt a burden to help this man that 00:08:12.819 --> 00:08:15.519 was in need, that when they saw him, they knew 00:08:15.519 --> 00:08:18.920 that he couldn't get there, that they saw him 00:08:18.920 --> 00:08:22.500 in a situation that he couldn't help himself. 00:08:23.339 --> 00:08:26.459 And they knew that perhaps they didn't have silver 00:08:26.459 --> 00:08:29.199 or gold as well. Maybe they didn't have much 00:08:29.199 --> 00:08:31.459 to give him. But all they could give him was 00:08:31.459 --> 00:08:35.120 a little bit of help by carrying him to the gates 00:08:35.120 --> 00:08:42.320 of this temple. They knew perhaps that they couldn't 00:08:42.320 --> 00:08:45.259 heal him. Maybe they looked at each other and 00:08:45.259 --> 00:08:48.320 said, well, there's nothing else we can do. But 00:08:48.320 --> 00:08:51.470 we know a place. Or maybe somebody can do something 00:08:51.470 --> 00:08:55.129 for him. Let's take him there. But what speaks 00:08:55.129 --> 00:08:57.830 to me is the fact that they didn't do it once. 00:08:58.169 --> 00:09:03.049 The Bible in this passage says that daily they 00:09:03.049 --> 00:09:08.730 carried him to the temple gate. Daily. When we 00:09:08.730 --> 00:09:12.649 talk about daily, it's called consistency. And 00:09:12.649 --> 00:09:15.610 you know how hard that is. Sometimes it's hard 00:09:15.610 --> 00:09:18.049 to be consistent for ourselves. Can you imagine 00:09:18.049 --> 00:09:22.529 being consistent in helping others? That's the 00:09:22.529 --> 00:09:25.049 part that maybe this passage doesn't go in detail. 00:09:25.269 --> 00:09:28.090 But I want to pause for a moment because there 00:09:28.090 --> 00:09:30.990 was something about these people. There was something 00:09:30.990 --> 00:09:33.909 that they were filled with that they just had 00:09:33.909 --> 00:09:38.190 a burden within them to do something for this 00:09:38.190 --> 00:09:44.860 man. And I wonder, church. If at moments, if 00:09:44.860 --> 00:09:48.220 we look at lives today, there's many times where 00:09:48.220 --> 00:09:51.419 we could walk by any restaurant and we could 00:09:51.419 --> 00:09:54.320 see many people on the streets asking for food 00:09:54.320 --> 00:09:57.639 or for money. But what do we notice? A lot of 00:09:57.639 --> 00:10:02.039 people walking by. Amen? There's a lot of people 00:10:02.039 --> 00:10:05.820 that just walk by, ignore them. Matter of fact, 00:10:05.820 --> 00:10:07.799 you don't even have to be lame. They ignore me 00:10:07.799 --> 00:10:10.759 just when I say. Hello. They just keep walking. 00:10:11.019 --> 00:10:13.000 You don't even have to ask for money. People 00:10:13.000 --> 00:10:15.700 just don't say hi anymore. People don't care. 00:10:15.779 --> 00:10:19.080 They just go on their way because they're too 00:10:19.080 --> 00:10:22.759 busy. They got things to do. But I want to say 00:10:22.759 --> 00:10:27.100 that as people of God. There's got to be a burden 00:10:27.100 --> 00:10:32.000 within us to take time to reach people. How are 00:10:32.000 --> 00:10:35.059 we going to have revival when we see people in 00:10:35.059 --> 00:10:37.379 the streets asking for help? We just walk by. 00:10:37.620 --> 00:10:40.759 How are we going to ask God, bring revival to 00:10:40.759 --> 00:10:43.620 this city. You see, it may not 00:11:49.399 --> 00:11:52.220 be physically, but it may be in the spirit that 00:11:52.220 --> 00:11:54.620 they are broken. It may be in the spirit that 00:11:54.620 --> 00:11:57.100 they need somebody to be there with them. It 00:11:57.100 --> 00:11:59.860 may be in the spirit that they need prayer. We 00:12:47.899 --> 00:12:50.279 don't have to, God didn't call us to transform 00:12:50.279 --> 00:12:54.379 the people. God didn't call us to transform their 00:12:54.379 --> 00:12:57.659 lives. All we got to do is bring them to the 00:12:57.659 --> 00:13:01.240 temple and let God do the rest. Let God do the 00:13:01.240 --> 00:13:04.019 miracle. Church, I'm here to tell somebody that 00:13:04.019 --> 00:13:07.399 we are called to be carriers, carriers of his 00:13:07.399 --> 00:13:11.000 word and carriers of people into the temple of 00:13:11.000 --> 00:13:14.200 God, into this place. I don't know about you, 00:13:14.240 --> 00:13:15.960 but do you believe that the Holy Ghost moves 00:13:15.960 --> 00:13:19.019 in this house? Do you feel the Holy Ghost in 00:13:19.019 --> 00:13:21.759 this place? Do you believe that freedom can happen 00:13:21.759 --> 00:13:24.879 here? I believe with all my heart that something, 00:13:25.100 --> 00:13:30.080 can happen in the presence of the Lord. I believe 00:13:30.080 --> 00:13:33.100 with all my heart that when we worship in this 00:13:33.100 --> 00:13:39.179 place, miracles happen. In the temple and 00:14:54.840 --> 00:14:59.460 in every house, they did not cease teaching and 00:14:59.460 --> 00:15:05.519 preaching Jesus Christ. Daily in the temple and 00:15:05.519 --> 00:15:10.100 in every house, they did not cease teaching and 00:15:10.100 --> 00:15:14.600 preaching Jesus Christ. How many of you love 00:15:14.600 --> 00:15:18.490 the Lord? Amen. I believe that there's prayer 00:15:18.490 --> 00:15:21.009 warriors in this house. I believe that there's 00:15:21.009 --> 00:15:23.809 soul winners. But I believe that we have to be 00:15:23.809 --> 00:15:26.669 reminded that when we do this, we do this out 00:15:26.669 --> 00:15:30.289 of love. Because we know who he is. Because we 00:15:30.289 --> 00:15:32.789 know what he's done for us. And we know what 00:15:32.789 --> 00:15:35.929 he could do for them. Amen. We got to keep fighting 00:15:35.929 --> 00:15:38.889 in the spirit. We got to keep preaching the word 00:15:38.889 --> 00:15:43.720 of God. If we have been baptized. In the name 00:15:43.720 --> 00:15:46.759 of Jesus. And we are not carrying people to the 00:15:46.759 --> 00:15:49.539 temple. Are we fulfilling the calling that we 00:15:49.539 --> 00:15:56.059 have in Jesus? When we read in verse 3, it says, 00:15:56.259 --> 00:16:00.899 when he saw Peter and John about to enter, he 00:16:00.899 --> 00:16:05.799 asked them for money. See, this beggar wasn't 00:16:05.799 --> 00:16:09.600 asking for a miracle. He was asking for something 00:16:09.600 --> 00:16:13.759 physical. He wanted money. But the beauty about 00:16:13.759 --> 00:16:16.539 the Lord is that he will give us more than what 00:16:16.539 --> 00:16:20.480 we can ask or think. Exceedingly and abundantly. 00:16:20.679 --> 00:16:25.039 Amen. I got to point out what Peter and John 00:16:25.039 --> 00:16:29.639 did in this passage. Not only did they see this 00:16:29.639 --> 00:16:34.240 man, but they acted in faith and with authority. 00:16:35.899 --> 00:16:39.750 And I want to point out that Peter. And John 00:16:39.750 --> 00:16:43.809 had the discernment in their spirit that the 00:16:43.809 --> 00:16:48.330 Lord wanted to do a miracle in that hour. How 00:16:48.330 --> 00:16:51.870 easy could it have been for them to just walk 00:16:51.870 --> 00:16:55.809 into the temple to go to prayer. But in fact, 00:16:55.809 --> 00:16:57.570 they would have missed on the whole point of 00:16:57.570 --> 00:17:00.769 prayer if they couldn't stop and pray for somebody 00:17:00.769 --> 00:17:04.470 who needed the prayer itself. Amen. And I want 00:17:04.470 --> 00:17:08.309 to tell some of you tonight that. Sometimes we 00:17:08.309 --> 00:17:11.269 get carried away in our own minds. Sometimes 00:17:11.269 --> 00:17:14.890 we get too focused on things that we want to 00:17:14.890 --> 00:17:17.750 accomplish. That we forget that the prayer is 00:17:17.750 --> 00:17:20.809 needed. Not just for ourselves, but the people 00:17:20.809 --> 00:17:23.970 that surround us. The people that live in your 00:17:23.970 --> 00:17:26.309 neighborhood. The people that you work with. 00:17:26.490 --> 00:17:29.390 The people that you see at the stores. The people 00:17:29.390 --> 00:17:32.490 that you salute here and there. They need your 00:17:32.490 --> 00:17:36.369 prayers more than ever. And if it's not you and 00:17:36.369 --> 00:17:40.130 me, who else is it going to be? In this passage, 00:17:40.390 --> 00:17:45.630 I love that Peter and John were not afraid to 00:17:45.630 --> 00:17:48.710 tell him, we don't have silver and we don't have 00:17:48.710 --> 00:17:52.309 gold, but what we do have, we're going to give 00:17:52.309 --> 00:17:56.809 to you. And they said, in the name of Jesus of 00:17:56.809 --> 00:18:05.279 Nazareth, walk. Let me remind you. We are never 00:18:05.279 --> 00:18:08.160 going to heal somebody. We are never going to 00:18:08.160 --> 00:18:10.910 deliver somebody. From my father's side, my father came 00:29:12.319 --> 00:29:16.420 from a very violent family where they were in 00:29:16.420 --> 00:29:20.900 gangs and violence, drugs. And I want to give you this 00:29:24.400 --> 00:29:27.480 background so you can see how powerful it is 00:29:27.480 --> 00:29:31.740 to plant the seed in somebody's heart.
