But that breath wasn't just oxygen, 00:07:15.819 --> 00:07:22.439 air, but it was the spirit of God. It was the 00:07:22.439 --> 00:07:28.199 essence of God because God is living. And he 00:07:28.199 --> 00:07:33.800 breathed his essence, a measure of himself, into 00:07:33.800 --> 00:07:40.279 that earthen clay figure known as Adam and... 00:07:40.750 --> 00:07:47.829 What we witness is divine resuscitation. And 00:09:05.799 --> 00:09:09.470 when it did, It was like nothing they had ever 00:09:09.470 --> 00:09:13.169 encountered before, even the time when Jesus 00:09:13.169 --> 00:09:15.929 had breathed on them. This was more than just 00:09:15.929 --> 00:09:21.370 a breath. This was a wind. It was God breathing 00:09:21.370 --> 00:09:26.570 again upon his church. So from Genesis to John. 00:09:27.289 --> 00:09:30.629 to the birthday of the church, what we see is 00:09:30.629 --> 00:09:35.230 the willingness, the divine plan of God to breathe 00:09:35.230 --> 00:09:39.370 his spirit, his essence, his air, that heavenly 00:09:39.370 --> 00:09:45.009 air into a lifeless being, into his church, into 00:09:45.009 --> 00:09:48.950 people. And this is what God... not only did 00:09:48.950 --> 00:09:52.889 them, but it's what he continues to want to do 00:09:52.889 --> 00:09:58.129 in our midst today. Somebody say amen. The Bible 00:09:58.129 --> 00:10:02.230 uses two powerful words for the Spirit of God. 00:10:03.230 --> 00:10:08.129 In the Old Testament, it's the Hebrew word ruach, 00:10:08.330 --> 00:10:15.629 meaning breath, wind, or spirit. This is the 00:10:15.629 --> 00:10:19.879 word often used. to describe the spirit of God 00:10:19.879 --> 00:10:23.980 in motion in the Old Testament. This is the rock. 00:10:24.240 --> 00:10:26.879 This is the spirit. This is the breath of God. 00:10:26.980 --> 00:10:30.120 It is the same spirit that we read in Genesis 00:10:30.120 --> 00:10:33.940 one hovering over the face of the deep of the 00:10:33.940 --> 00:10:37.080 waters. It's the same spirit that came upon the 00:10:37.080 --> 00:10:40.059 rock that came upon the prophets of old, who, 00:10:40.220 --> 00:10:42.720 as the spirit of the Lord came upon them, would 00:10:42.720 --> 00:10:45.860 do mighty acts. and mighty exploits in God's 00:10:45.860 --> 00:10:49.500 name. It's the same spirit that quickened the 00:10:49.500 --> 00:10:52.440 valley of dry bones and Ezekiel's vision that 00:10:52.440 --> 00:10:55.360 caused this, these skeletons to come together 00:10:55.360 --> 00:10:58.960 and to be a great army. It's that Ruach, it's 00:10:58.960 --> 00:11:03.240 that breath of God that we see bringing dry or 00:11:03.240 --> 00:11:07.139 dead things to life. That is the Old Testament 00:11:07.139 --> 00:11:10.379 or the Hebrew word for the spirit of God. It's 00:11:10.379 --> 00:11:12.929 a powerful word. When you think about it, in 00:11:12.929 --> 00:11:16.429 the New Testament, we're giving a very familiar 00:11:16.429 --> 00:11:19.769 term as well, like ruach. It is the Greek word 00:11:19.769 --> 00:11:26.009 pneuma. Pneuma also means breath or wind. This 00:11:26.009 --> 00:11:29.669 word is also used to describe the Spirit of God 00:11:29.669 --> 00:11:33.830 in motion, to describe the Holy Spirit, pneuma. 00:11:34.090 --> 00:11:37.649 Pneuma, what it's telling us, it's describing 00:11:37.649 --> 00:11:41.950 something that is invisible. yet felt just like 00:11:41.950 --> 00:11:45.110 the wind. The wind is blowing outside. It is the breath of God. And 00:12:42.649 --> 00:12:45.529 my good news to report to you today is that God 00:12:45.529 --> 00:12:48.110 is still breathing. Somebody give the Lord some 00:12:48.110 --> 00:12:51.490 praise here today. I said, God is still breathing. 00:12:51.649 --> 00:12:54.610 He's still breathing on this earth. And we are 00:12:54.610 --> 00:12:57.950 living in such a time today, church, as the prophet 00:12:57.950 --> 00:13:01.570 Joel spoke of, that in the last days, God would 00:13:01.570 --> 00:13:04.870 pour out his spirit. He would, in essence, breathe. 00:13:05.070 --> 00:13:09.190 He would ruach, he would pneuma upon all flesh. 00:13:09.470 --> 00:13:12.970 And it is my desire, it is God's desire, that 00:13:12.970 --> 00:13:16.909 every person be filled with the ruach, with the 00:13:16.909 --> 00:13:20.029 breath of Almighty God.
