So tell us a little bit 00:03:20.800 --> 00:03:24.259 about what your life was like before you came 00:03:24.259 --> 00:03:27.759 to know the Lord. I grew up in a Christian family. 00:03:28.240 --> 00:03:31.979 My parents were Christians. But if I remember 00:03:31.979 --> 00:03:35.120 correctly, my parents were so busy that in my 00:03:35.120 --> 00:03:37.479 younger years, they never took me to Sunday school. 00:03:37.979 --> 00:03:41.219 So I don't know why I don't have an answer for 00:03:41.219 --> 00:03:45.219 that. But then one of the church members who 00:03:45.219 --> 00:03:49.860 lives near Our house started a small group for 00:03:49.860 --> 00:03:53.439 the children. So from there started my journey 00:03:53.439 --> 00:03:59.199 knowing Bible, Bible stories. And then, I don't 00:03:59.199 --> 00:04:01.460 know, one fine day, my parents also started, 00:04:01.500 --> 00:04:04.419 OK, now it's time we all go to church together. 00:04:04.500 --> 00:04:08.439 And we started going to church. And from there, 00:04:08.460 --> 00:04:14.020 at the age of 17. I started taking communion, 00:04:14.159 --> 00:04:19.100 and ever since, I follow Jesus. Okay. So back 00:04:19.100 --> 00:04:21.980 there, where were you living? Where was home 00:04:21.980 --> 00:04:24.639 when you were a kid? In India. In India. In a 00:04:24.639 --> 00:04:27.060 small state called Kerala. Okay. That's great. 00:04:27.160 --> 00:04:31.560 And so your family had a Christian background, 00:04:31.839 --> 00:04:35.699 but didn't necessarily go to church. They go 00:04:35.699 --> 00:04:39.370 to church on and off. I was a very young kid 00:04:39.370 --> 00:04:45.970 and I cannot understand why it was. But you encountered 00:04:45.970 --> 00:04:51.139 a community group. That was doing services or 00:04:51.139 --> 00:04:54.319 providing some Christian programs. And you became 00:04:54.319 --> 00:04:58.480 involved in that in your childhood, in your teen 00:04:58.480 --> 00:05:02.180 years. Yes. And that formed a basis of your faith. 00:05:02.180 --> 00:05:05.920 And from the age of 18, I always used to sing 00:05:05.920 --> 00:05:10.660 and I've been part of church choir and almost 00:05:10.660 --> 00:05:14.519 in all church programs from the age of 18. Okay. 00:05:14.600 --> 00:05:20.839 So you seem to, like you're, my story is somewhat 00:05:20.839 --> 00:05:23.720 similar in terms of becoming a Christian in my 00:05:23.720 --> 00:05:27.220 teens and getting very involved in church as 00:05:27.220 --> 00:05:30.100 a young adult and stuff like that. Even in the church, I'm 00:06:15.569 --> 00:06:17.850 sitting and thinking about what I used to do, 00:06:17.889 --> 00:06:20.730 announcement as well. And that brought in a 00:06:35.290 --> 00:06:39.649 big change, actually. I'm still serving in my 00:06:39.649 --> 00:06:43.269 own capacity, whatever I can and wherever I can, 00:06:43.490 --> 00:06:48.129 but not too much involved. But it opened a door 00:06:48.129 --> 00:06:53.050 for me. I'm reading the Bible more. I am listening 00:06:53.050 --> 00:06:57.269 to the small voice talking to me. And that's 00:06:57.269 --> 00:07:00.930 the time I realized, actually, Spirit is talking 00:07:00.930 --> 00:07:03.680 to me. Holy Spirit is talking to me. Fascinating. 00:07:03.899 --> 00:07:07.459 And I remember in my Bible, I used to write, 00:07:07.579 --> 00:07:11.379 which people don't do usually. I started writing 00:07:11.379 --> 00:07:14.459 because I'm learning and Spirit is teaching. 00:07:15.160 --> 00:07:19.199 And ever since, it is a different experience. 00:07:19.600 --> 00:07:22.779 That's great. And, um, and the, while that might've 00:07:34.959 --> 00:07:36.759 been a great help for the church and for the 00:07:36.759 --> 00:07:38.740 people that were in the church, that was something 00:07:38.740 --> 00:07:42.519 missing for you personally, spiritually, and 00:07:42.519 --> 00:07:47.500 that was your own time of devotion and, uh, and 00:07:47.500 --> 00:07:50.660 reading the Bible and praying and, uh, for yourself 00:07:50.660 --> 00:07:55.019 as opposed to, uh, uh, leading, um, a Bible study 00:07:55.019 --> 00:07:57.339 and a prayer session or something like that. 00:07:57.420 --> 00:08:00.279 I think that's fascinating. I also have a very 00:08:00.279 --> 00:08:02.399 similar experience from my time at the dam where 00:08:02.399 --> 00:08:05.680 I got a little burnt out because I was doing 00:08:05.680 --> 00:08:09.120 all these Christian -y things, leading a Christian 00:08:09.120 --> 00:08:11.220 ministry and leading Bible studies and training 00:08:11.220 --> 00:08:15.160 volunteers and leading people through prayer 00:08:15.160 --> 00:08:19.819 and mentoring youth and doing all these Christian 00:08:19.819 --> 00:08:24.790 activities. but not having the time to spend 00:08:24.790 --> 00:08:28.350 in my own personal devotion and learning. So 00:08:28.350 --> 00:08:31.910 I felt like I was constantly leading Bible studies, 00:08:31.990 --> 00:08:33.850 but I didn't really feel at the end of the day 00:08:33.850 --> 00:08:37.250 that I was really spending time in the Word for 00:08:37.250 --> 00:08:41.870 myself and learning and taking in as opposed 00:08:41.870 --> 00:08:45.840 to putting out. Yeah, it's the same experience, 00:08:45.980 --> 00:08:51.799 same experience. It's probably a familiar experience 00:08:51.799 --> 00:08:54.580 for a lot of Christians who just get involved 00:08:54.580 --> 00:08:58.700 in the busyness of church and Christianity and 00:08:58.700 --> 00:09:08.100 lose sight on the true meaning and the personal 00:09:08.100 --> 00:09:12.940 commitment of faith. Well, that's fascinating. 00:09:14.460 --> 00:09:21.000 What would you say, since you've made that change, 00:09:21.200 --> 00:09:24.620 and I guess I should ask, once you came to that 00:09:24.620 --> 00:09:29.240 decision, what changes did you make? So while in Texas, I was 00:09:44.240 --> 00:09:47.399 part of worship team. I still did. Okay, it's 00:09:47.399 --> 00:09:50.779 singing. I always loved, I still love singing 00:09:50.779 --> 00:09:57.899 and just Bible study. part of worship team that's 00:09:57.899 --> 00:10:01.480 all I did we moved back again to the hospitality 00:10:01.480 --> 00:10:05.779 and community that's something I really really 00:10:05.779 --> 00:10:09.259 believe in that church should open its door to 00:10:09.259 --> 00:10:12.500 the community and that's one way we can bring 00:10:12.500 --> 00:10:16.519 more people in I think it's our life that is 00:10:16.519 --> 00:10:21.519 reflecting over there so but my I have a little 00:10:21.519 --> 00:10:24.039 bit of time constraints I'm not able to come 00:10:24.039 --> 00:10:27.759 but that's something I am part of. A lot of challenges with 00:11:32.120 --> 00:11:35.100 children and still we have, but the changes I 00:11:35.100 --> 00:11:41.100 made in my life and and walking more with Jesus 00:11:41.100 --> 00:11:45.240 made me really strong to face all the challenges. 00:11:45.440 --> 00:11:49.679 Okay, there are days of that not good, but still 00:11:49.679 --> 00:11:53.799 I know I'm always smiling and I am facing it. 00:11:53.940 --> 00:11:56.200 Yeah. I'm not going 00:15:26.110 --> 00:15:29.730 to push you. I'm not going to force you to come 00:15:29.730 --> 00:15:32.879 in. And they 00:17:07.500 --> 00:17:11.539 were very small. When I look back, oh my God, 00:17:11.619 --> 00:17:14.119 I did all these things. No babysitter, nothing. 00:17:14.500 --> 00:17:17.140 These small kids, I locked them up and I did. 00:17:17.259 --> 00:17:20.220 And probably God saw that.
