Like, I'd like to see God. Mm hmm. That 00:00:48.060 --> 00:00:50.700 sounds like a good time. Yeah. The pure in heart 00:00:50.700 --> 00:00:57.880 is a little bit more daunting. Mm hmm. Yes. And 00:05:20.740 --> 00:05:24.959 then I thought wait, what is my job? Like I work 00:05:24.959 --> 00:05:28.860 in ministry I'm getting paid for this. There's 00:05:28.860 --> 00:05:31.160 an intent. There's there's always an incentive 00:05:31.160 --> 00:05:34.120 for me to fake my way through this because right 00:05:34.120 --> 00:05:38.279 You know, I could lose my job if I'm not looking 00:05:38.279 --> 00:05:42.639 good on a Sunday, you know? But Jesus is calling 00:05:42.639 --> 00:05:44.420 us to something higher. It's like, don't just 00:05:44.420 --> 00:05:47.720 do your job. Don't do this for incentives other 00:05:47.720 --> 00:05:54.899 than your following of Christ. Yeah. Right. It's 00:08:07.910 --> 00:08:11.149 like. And like to pull it back to the Beatitudes, 00:08:11.230 --> 00:08:13.959 like this is. Being up here in heart all of these 00:08:13.959 --> 00:08:17.019 things are like a state of blessing mm -hmm and 00:08:17.019 --> 00:08:20.300 Now blessing doesn't always mean like you know 00:08:20.300 --> 00:08:23.939 happy excited Lovely life, but it like blessing 00:08:23.939 --> 00:08:27.759 should be a good thing great, right? Yeah, I 00:08:27.759 --> 00:08:30.620 mean I I also want to be careful. We don't Make 00:08:30.620 --> 00:08:33.139 it sound like you've got to do this stuff in 00:08:33.139 --> 00:08:37.500 order to be blessed Okay, I don't think the Beatitudes 00:08:37.500 --> 00:08:41.429 are mandates in the sense that we normally think 00:08:41.429 --> 00:08:43.450 of them. No, I think there's a 00:12:37.690 --> 00:12:40.899 very real sense in which part of, maybe not the 00:12:40.899 --> 00:12:42.720 whole thing, but part of what it means to see 00:12:42.720 --> 00:12:49.000 God is seeing God in the world now, right? And 00:12:49.000 --> 00:12:51.799 in interactions with other people, in the beauty 00:12:51.799 --> 00:12:54.679 of creation, in all of these different things. 00:12:56.399 --> 00:12:59.759 Yeah, I think that's definitely part of it. OK. And that's 00:14:47.350 --> 00:14:49.429 a blessing, because as you know, it says in the 00:14:49.429 --> 00:14:52.090 Old Testament, no one can see God and live. Because we're we're still unholy. 00:14:55.659 --> 00:14:59.100 and God can't be in the presence of the impure. 00:15:00.860 --> 00:15:04.100 So there's debates about what does it mean, blessed 00:15:04.100 --> 00:15:06.379 are the pure in heart, so they shall see God 00:15:06.379 --> 00:15:09.259 means basically you get to go to heaven at the 00:15:09.259 --> 00:15:11.139 end. And that's how most people have read this 00:15:11.139 --> 00:15:14.340 verse throughout church history. But there's 00:15:14.340 --> 00:15:17.639 another wrinkle in it because Jesus says in John's 00:15:17.639 --> 00:15:20.559 gospel, Philip, if you've seen me, you've seen 00:15:20.559 --> 00:15:23.399 the Father. Right. Right.
