Charisse [00:00:01]: Okay. Makalapua [00:00:02]: Hello, I'm Makalapuamohoy. This past summer, I went on the trip to Kinohi Loa, and I'm just here to share what we did there and what we learned. So know who you are, who are you, and who do you belong to? There are many people in this world who compare themselves to others, try to fit into a society and try to earn love. But through Christ, your identity has already been secure. You're not defined by your past or popularity. You're defined by the one who created you and calls you his own. As a high schooler, there were many times where I struggled with my outward appearance and my identity through other people's eyes. I was so fixated on their opinions. Makalapua [00:00:48]: But during my time in Kinohi Loa, I reflected on how God views me instead of how people around me would. What we did at Molokai fixed our focus not on ourselves, but on our work for the Lord. 1st Samuel 16:7 says, but the Lord said to Samuel, don't judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn't see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. You are who God says you are. Your identity in Christ is the foundation for everything. Now that you know who and whose you are, you now need to understand how to live that truth. Makalapua [00:01:31]: Something that I came up with when I was there, when I was doing this devotions up there, I came up with, I know my worth because he is my worth. And that is something that I will take with me and share with the world and my friends. Because I just want people to know that you are worthy and. Yeah. Charisse [00:02:00]: Okay. Okay. Makalapua [00:02:04]: So next is Charisse to come up and share what she experienced. Charisse [00:02:19]: Hi, I'm Charisse. On this trip, we had to. There was a lot we had to do. We had to be okay with being uncomfortable the whole trip. So. So we didn't have. Let's just say we didn't have hot water and where we were was pretty cold, so showering was a little uncomfortable. But many people say they love Jesus, but He says the real proof is obeying him even when it's hard or uncomfortable. Charisse [00:03:01]: It's easy to follow him when it doesn't change our plans or how it affects how affect how people see us. The real test is asking when he asks us to give up something, avoid sin, or speak the truth when others won't. Obedience shows us that our faith is real and gives us strength. When life is tough, we don't obey to Earn God's love. We obey because his love is better than anything else that we could have. Obviously, we try to follow his commands. Not because we're perfect, because we know he loves us. Sorry, my phone's not working. Charisse [00:04:12]: Luke, chapter 6, 48, 49. They are like a man building a house who dug down deep and laid the foundation on a rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment of terrain struck that house and it collapsed and its destruction was complete. So I just want you guys to take this and think about what it means, because for me, it's being okay with being uncomfortable when you hear. When you hear God speaking to you. Even if it's something that you don't really want to do, something that you don't feel like you can do, you can. Charisse [00:05:20]: You can do anything with God by your side. So now I would like to introduce Lua Mihoy, who was a leader on this trip. 'Elua [00:05:46]: All right, aloha everybody in the house again. I just want to thank you guys again for coming and just witnessing the youth grow up and just being here with us. And so the title for today or the main message was Building Spiritual Muscles. And as you can see, Mukapo shared about knowing who you are or just building foundation and character. And I guess this Molokai trip has helped her to just find herself in the Lord more and just finding identity in Jesus and just relating to Him a lot more. And for Sharice, it was obedience and the hard stuff or just growing your roots and building endurance to against just the ways of the world. Sometimes we do sin. We're not all perfect, but the Word does teach us to just, yeah, stick to the Word. 'Elua [00:06:53]: And I know for myself just the more I do sticking to the Word and just be consistent with it, the less the worldly stuff start to just overtake my life. And yeah, that's, I guess in my eyes, Shareese was she, I guess struggled a bit this trip, but she was awesome with being just a third timer and just being experienced with this trip and even just being influential to the other first timers or even the leaders. To me, she was inspirational because she got along with a lot of people. She got into very just good conversation and very deep with God in the Word and prayer. And for me, I get to introduce thriving together as a community. As you can see in the picture, that's me playing the ukulele and just leading worship. But I like to think less of just me leading and more God leading me and through me. And I mean, when you feel that presence, you can pretty much hear the voices of the room or just the area singing together, as I've heard every day. 'Elua [00:08:30]: I haven't heard just myself once. I just heard a community. And I don't know, that was so important. And we also did like just everything as a group. We hiked up mountains, we swam a couple miles together, and you know, through prayer in community, and just even before the trip, we prayed as the leaders of young life Kapolei. And, you know, with that prayer, safety went a long way. Although some of the leaders did get hurt and some injuries that happened, I don't think any of the first timers or the students got hurt, which is such a blessing. And we definitely seen God moving. 'Elua [00:09:23]: And yeah, that was very cool to see just us as a group and even like doing head counts, something simple as that. Just keeping track of each other. And even just when we did our devos, like SRI shared some things from the devos, but we also did that as a group and we also just discussed and you know, alone, you don't. I don't think anyone would understand everything in the Bible, but with community, we each get to hear just people's thoughts and just insight on the Word and how that applies to their life. And that's very helpful in community. And yeah, just as we all find our identity in ourselves and just start to grow roots, it's so important that we find community because we can't do this alone. And I would like to share a verse with that. Hebrews 10, 24, 25. 'Elua [00:10:34]: And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Not giving up meeting each other as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another. And all the more, as you see the day approaching. This one was in one of the divots that we did. And it just spoke out to me. And I wrote down just about it and reflected just how I could be encouraging to the people around me. And the way I find doing that is leading and being an example to the youth with what they do at church, just being person behind the screen in sound tech or even up front in worship. That was awesome to see just the youth around me worshiping with me. 'Elua [00:11:35]: And it was. It was great. I seen just people worshiping together as one community. And we all came together as one as the body of Christ pretty much. And yeah, just before we get into prayer, I want to just bring up some questions that I want to leave you with. First question is how would your mindset and choices change if you truly believe you're chosen and loved by God? And the second question, why is obedience hard sometimes, even. Even when we know what's right. And number three, with constant prayer and time together, God is moving. 'Elua [00:12:23]: How can you dedicate time with community and people around you? Yep, just get into groups of three to five and just discuss the questions and reflect. And yeah, just practice community now, which I got to share. Thank you, guys. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:38:33]: Father, we are grateful that, Lord, you've heard every prayer that we have prayed. And that, Lord, as we seek you now, Lord, we're thankful the example, Lord, of some of our young leaders as well as some of our youth, Lord, we're thankful for Elua and Makalapua and Charisse, Lord, who are showing, Lord, just what your word tells us, Lord, to let no one look down on your youthfulness. Instead, Lord, that we would prove to be an example in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Lord, we know those things are not easy, Father, they're not easy whether you're young or sometimes whether you're old, Lord. But. But Father, thank you that when we are saying, God, would you raise up the youth? Father, we know some of that are. Are physically young people and Father, some of those are believers, God, who are young, Lord. Young in the faith. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:39:29]: But Lord, that Lord, that they. They're not having to be a second class citizen, Lord, we're thankful they're full citizens in the kingdom. And Father, when the enemy tells us, Lord, that our value or worth because something has changed in our life that Lord, that those things are. We are less than. Father, we're thankful. Just like. Just like our sister said tonight, God, that this. But we are made in his image and we have been bought with a price. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:39:56]: And we are thankful, Lord, that when we know the value of something, it's what someone is willing to pay for. And Father, we thank youk that for each person, Lord, that yout paid and bankrupted heaven, Lord, to show us our worth, Father, to purchase our redemption. Father, we're grateful. So Father, would you raise up, Lord, the young, the youth in our church, the high schoolers, Lord, we're thankful that we're seeing not just high schoolers and middle schoolers, Lord. We're even seeing elementary kids, Lord, who are wanting to serve you Wanting to make a difference, Father. Wanting to use their gifts. And, Father, we're grateful for that, Father. We're praying that, Lord, I'm thankful, Lord, just even for this. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:40:41]: That young high school girl who wanted to be part of the nursery, Lord, if it was okay, Lord, we're thankful. It's more than okay, Father. Thank you. Worship Team [00:40:52]: That. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:40:52]: That's. That's our desire. That's our heart, Lord, that people know how to love you. And, Lord, know how to love one another. And, Father, know how to. To make a difference with their lives, Father, to find freedom, Lord, we're thankful. That's exactly what we want. So, Father, would you raise that as well? Though those who kind of feel like the enemy's been whispering in their ear that they don't know enough, that they're not holy enough, Lord, that they're not. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:41:22]: Whatever. They're not enough. But, Father, we thank you, Lord, that that is a lie. And, Father, we come against the Father of lives. And Lord, we know at this stage of the game in, in our 21 days, Lord, that sometimes the enemy is pushing back. The enemy pushes back because he whispers, Lord, he's a thief, Lord. He's a murderer, Lord. He comes to steal, kill and destroy. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:41:50]: And so, Father, we ask that, would you just make aware, Lord, those who are experiencing a little bit of pushback, Lord, we know sometimes he's coming to steal our peace, sometimes he's coming to steal our rest, Father, sometimes he's coming to steal our capacity to be rejuvenated. And, Lord, we thank you that you're not calling us to just be busy, Lord. You're calling us to be close to you, Father. And you're calling us that when we're close, we know when you whisper something to us that it's so easy for us to hear. So, Father, we're praying that, Lord, that those who have been struggling, Lord, with insomnia or ways that cannot be, they cannot sleep. We just say in the name of Jesus that if you're suffering from insomnia at your home, would you just say, spirit of insomnia, we just bind you, Lord, we just say, get out of my house, leave me alone, because I've been bought with the blood. Lord, I thank you that you said that you give to your children even in their rest. And, Father, that you give rest, Father, that you made a day for rest. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:42:59]: That, Lord, that every day should have rest in it. And so, Father, we're praying, God, that tonight, like, for those who've been struggling, those who've been waking up at weird hours. Lord, we pray, would there be a spirit of rest, Lord, A spirit of slumber, Lord, so that their bodies, minds and souls can be rejuvenated. Father, we're also praying, Lord, that the enemy who comes to at times steal our energy and sometimes it's our finances. And Lord, that he would be bound over those things, Lord, I know that sometimes he's trying to distract us, Lord, the enemy doesn't fight fair. But Father, we thank you that the armor of God is sufficient, Lord, for truth, for righteousness. Lord, the preparation of the gospel of peace. Lord, we're thankful, Lord, our faith is a shield. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:43:55]: Lord, we trust you. If there's a place right now where the enemy's been attacking you, would you just say, lord, I trust Jesus is enough to defend me in this area. Lord, I thank you. Jesus is enough to defend my finances. Lord, I thank you. Jesus is enough to defend my health. Lord, I thank you. Jesus is enough to restore my mental well being and my mental emotional balance. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:44:22]: Father, we're grateful for that. And so, Father, we just pray, would your protection, Lord, and we don't just want to be fighting defense, Lord, we want to go on offense and that, Lord, would you. We want to take back what the enemy has stolen, Lord. He stole years from our youth, Lord. He stole years from kids, Lord, being in lockdown and all that. But Lord, we pray, would there be a wave, Lord, would there be a wave of renewal and just the rising up of our young people not just in our church, but in every church, Father, that Not just in every church, but Father, that those who are connected and to those who are a believer, Lord, that the gospel would spread in our high school schools, in our middle schools, Lord, even in our elementary schools that Lord, both students and faculty, Lord, that students and staff, Lord, that. That they would be a center, Lord, where the move of the spirit would bring people, Lord, closer to you? That kids would know that I'm not just a judge by my grades or my popularity or. Or my athleticism or Lord, that. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:45:35]: But instead that they would know that they've been made in your image, Lord, it's an imprint. Lord, I thank you. Every person has been imprinted, Lord, with the imprint of God. And Lord, sometimes it gets covered up by sin and rebellion and sometimes just a lack of attention to these things. But Father, we pray that by the blood of Christ, that by the move of the Spirit, by the preaching of the gospel, by the sharing of testimonies, by the move of your spirit, God, that you would help people to Encounter the living God, the Father that we would see, Lord, that the young generation wouldn't be said about. Like sometimes what we think is wrong. But sometimes we confess old people. Sometimes, Lord, we say stuff that we don't have a right to. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:46:32]: We wouldn't want anybody to say those things to us or about our generation. But Father, we pray that this young generation, Lord, that they would rise up, that they would be an example of love, faith, conduct, purity, Father. A knowledge of God, Lord. A wisdom that comes from God. A zeal. Zeal and a fervor that will be paired, Lord, with action and with wisdom. God. We pray a covering. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:47:00]: Raise up, Lord, across our islands, Lord, thank you for that. And raise up those leaders who will shepherd our youth, Lord. Raise up those volunteers, Lord, those people who just say, Lord, they might not know everything, they might not have had a ton of experience, but they'll get in a place where they can learn along the way way. And Father, that so often it's not about how much we know, but our willingness to come alongside Father, our willingness to be a prayer warrior, our willingness to be an encourager, our willingness to stand in the gap for people and to stand alongside them in the tough times as well as in the good times. And Father, thank you. At the same time, we will grow. Our wisdom will grow, our knowledge will grow, our capacities will grow. We're thankful for that. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:47:52]: And Father, we're thankful that how you've been answering prayer, Lord, I'm thankful that Amy that her leukemia cannot be detected. Father, we give you praise, Lord. We give you praise. But Lord, we also know it doesn't mean that there's that everything is done, Lord. But would you who began a good work in her, Lord, would you bring it to completion? Not only that, the continued elimination and the rejuvenation, Lord, whether it's in her bone marrow, in her bloodstream, but also whatever it is at the root of the fever that she's been experiencing. We just say just like Jesus told Peter's mother in law, rise up, Lord. And the fever left her. We just say fellow fever, leave this young woman alone. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:48:44]: And Father, we're also thankful. I'm thankful for my friend who was in the hospital, Lord, that a simple procedure. But Lord, it just seemed instead of everything moving right, everything went wrong and was in pneumonia set in. But Lord, I thank you at the prayers of the saints, God, that the doctors don't have an explanation, but he just got better and better and better and came out like today. Lord, we just thank you. We give you the glory God, we thank you, Lord, that when they said that he should be way longer in the hospital, God, that there's the evidence of your activity for no apparent reason but the move of God. Thank you, Lord Jesus and Father, we're praying as well for healing in vision. Father, I thank youk. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:49:33]: You said the eyes are the window to the soul. And Lord, I know a brother who has a good soul. And Lord, that we pray that his vision would be renewed, Lord, just like you renew his soul. Father, would there be a clearing, Lord, and if there is something that needs to be attended to that would help that, Father, we pray that you would bring it to the surface. Sometimes, Lord, we cannot attend to the things that we don't know. And so Lord, thank you. You know all things. But Lord, we just say in the name of Jesus, whatever is at the root of this, Lord, whether it's something with blood or blood sugar or something with his eyes or an infection, we don't know. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:50:18]: Thank you. You know, we just say in the name of Jesus, be restored, be cleared. Father, I pray there'd be a freedom as well in his soul, Lord, God and Father, we just thank you, Lord, that there is a covering over him, but the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him. And so Father, I pray, Lord, that protection, Lord, from spiritual as well as physical things that oppose, things that disguise, things that stand in the way. Father, that unfortunately we nobody wants to have enemies. But Lord, sometimes we do. And so, Lord, I would just pray a protection from his enemies. Lord, would you be the one who vindicates? Would you be the one who raises up? We just say in the name of Jesus, Lord, God and Father, we're thankful for the youngest Ray, a son that doesn't need surgery, but Lord, still needs healing. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:51:25]: Lord, we're thankful that we just say we thank you along for every blessing along the way. Lord, it's better not to need surgery than to need surgery. But Lord, would you bring the completion, the healing that's been begun in him? Father, cover him today, Father. Cover that family. We're thankful for how you've been moving in that family. We're thankful. Bless them. Husband, wife, Father, mother, Lord, the boys, God, we're just praying. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:51:54]: Would there be a freshness, Lord, in their family and that they would hear your whispers, Lord, but Father, thank you that. That you're raising up a people in these days, God, who will know, Lord, you said my people will know my voice and they will walk and follow none other. Father, would you help us, Lord, all of us who've been in this time 21 days, God, we're not just telling you what we want, God, we want to be able to hear what your whispers are, your responses are to your people. So, Father, we're praying for a receptive heart, Lord, to hear your truths and your whispers that come with grace. But we're not just asking you, Lord, to just give the magic. Amen to all that we want. But God, would you direct us, Father? We're open, God. We're surrendering, Father. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:52:57]: We're believing. And so, Lord, would you sharpen, Lord? Father, for some they've never heard, I know there's somebody listening or somebody in the room. You felt like you've never heard the voice of God. And the voice of God won't just sound like your voice. It won't sound. It'll sound, when you first hear it, like man. I wouldn't say that. I don't know where that thought came from. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:53:28]: But, Father, I pray that with the whispers of the living God, Lord, in the coming days, would they hear your whispers as they lean into you, Father, that as we become acquainted with you in your word, Father, we need the spirit of God as well. So, Father, whether people are at home or people are in the house today, or, Father. That they're wherever they are. But if their hearts are turned toward you right now, Father, with the whispers of the spirit, would you just ask God? Maybe if you're at home and you're in the house and when you quiet your spirit, just ask him first say this. We just say this. That enemy be bound. That you cannot come in in this moment. Worship Team [00:54:14]: Moment. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:54:15]: It's dedicated to Jesus. And so we just say, be silent in the name of Jesus. But Lord, would your people hear? Would you ask Him, Lord, what do you think of me? And Father, I thank youk that I don't know who this is for. Somebody just need to know. You're just precious. You're precious in my sight. And because I have loved you'd I have given my life for your. There's more in youn than youn. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:55:02]: You can't see it, but I'm bringing it out. Because I made you. I formed you for myself and that you would have influence in this world for good and for God. But Father, would your people hear your voice tonight? Father? We're leaning into you. We're trusting you. We've brought things back before you today, Father. Extend your kingdom in us and through us, Lord. Would your kingdom come, Lord, in our families? Would your kingdom come, Lord, in our ministries. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:55:45]: Lord, would your kingdom come in our community. Lord God, Father, would your kingdom come in these islands and in our nation and in our world. We give glory to the living God, Christ Jesus. Lord, in his name we pray. Amen. Amen. Hey, God bless you guys. Thanks for joining us. Pastor Glenn Yamaguchi [00:56:10]: And again, hey, can we also say give a hand to our young people who shared tonight. We're proud of you guys. God bless you guys. We'll see you guys for day nine tomorrow. Take care.
