Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:00:00]: Praise God. 21 days we're gonna be here, we're gonna hear a word, we're gonna worship. We're gonna have some time to worship God. We're gonna have lots of time to just pray, either together or with one another or by yourself. Just contending for about 20 minutes or so. Then we'll come back and close in a corporate time of prayer. But the word I had today came to me just through just reading the scriptures. And then I just heard one key verse about Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, you know, praying, because I know we're talking about prayer. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:00:33]: And Garden of Gethsemane was when Jesus had his, you know, time to really get in there and pray. But I wanted to look at two gardens that I noticed in the Bible. There's two gardens. There's Garden of Eden and Garden of Gethsemane. Very different, very different gardens, right? So I just wanted to take a little look. I'm not going to be that long. But I read some scripture, too. You had two gardens, two choices, two impacts that happened on that day. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:01:01]: So in the Garden of Eden, we had, of course, the story of Adam and Eve. And everybody probably familiar with that. You know, God walked with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day. Things were good. You know, they communicated with God and everything was good. Things were good, communication was clear. And. And God said, by the way, you see this garden? There's one tree over here. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:01:26]: I don't want you to eat from that tree the knowledge of good and evil. And Adam and Eve were like, okay, that's fine, you know, whatever. And as they were mosing along, the serpent came. And if you notice, the serpent represents the devil, right? So the serpent came along and he started to talk with Adam and Eve. Don't ask me how that happened, but, you know, it happened in the scripture. In Genesis, we read now the serpent. This is what it says in the Bible. The serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord had made. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:01:55]: He said to the woman, mistake. Already he's talking to the woman. He says, did God really say you must not eat of these trees? And they were thinking about, yeah, he kind of did say that. That's the instruction from God. And now Satan wants to kind of come in and twist things around. He says, did God really say that you must not eat from any tree in the garden? The woman said to the serpent, we may eat fruit from trees in the garden, but God did say, you must not eat the fruit from the tree. That's in the middle of the garden. You must not touch it or you will surely die. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:02:33]: So she's kind of talking to the devil wrong already. Let's not talk to the devil. That's one thing to write on your notes if you want. Don't talk to the devil. You'll hear him whispering lies to you. He's the father of lies. He'll tell you some crazy stuff. If it sounds crazy, it's not from God. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:02:50]: It's not from the Bible, right? So he said, you will not surely die. The serpent said to the woman, for God knows that when you eat from the tree, your eyes will be open and you will be like God, knowing good from evil. Now, that doesn't sound bad on the surface, but God explicitly gave instruction, right? Maybe later you could know good and evil. I don't know what God's plan was, but. But I just know that he told him, don't eat it. When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some of the fruit and ate it. And she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. The eyes of both of them were open and they realized they were naked. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:03:39]: So they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. So you see already, maybe God had a plan where he was going to let him see the fact that, by the way, you guys are naked. You know, I don't know how that worked out, but the point of this whole thing is I'm trying to get at is I'm going to ask a question. Do you think they prayed? Did you hear anywhere in here? She said, hang on, devil. I'm going to pray to God and ask God if this is what we should do. No, they didn't pray to God. Mistake again. Number what, three? Now she's batting a thousand here. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:04:13]: Come on, Eve. And Adam is right there, too. We got to pray. So my point, don't do anything rash until you pray. Ask God, should I eat this fruit? Should I eat that fruit? Whatever. You might have allergic reaction. I don't know. But don't eat stuff you're not supposed to eat. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:04:31]: That's very plain and simple. Then the devil persuades them, right? So that's the scripture we see. That's the first garden. It's Garden of Eden. And man, you know, they ate it. Now they see, oh, by the way, we're naked. Oh, no. And then all of these things, shame came on them. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:04:46]: That's why they Wanted to cover themselves. Now it just went from bad to worse. I don't know. It doesn't really say what serpent was doing at this time. Probably having a little chuckle, right? And that's the thing. When we've lived long enough and we've made our mistakes, you know, sometimes we envision after you make the mistake, yeah, the devil's probably laughing. And there is a spiritual battle. This is what we know already. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:05:12]: And you know, we have to pray or be prayed up and speak against the devil. Devil, you're not going to tempt me with that fruit. Get out of here. In Jesus name is what she should have said. But instead she was thinking, well, I guess it can't hurt. She starts negotiating, right? Justifying. Well, this just have a little bite list. That's what, you know. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:05:32]: You guys get what I'm saying, right? This is the first garden. What about prayer? Did they pray? No, they talked with the devil instead. Don't waste time talking to the devil. There's an old blues song. This blues guy, he says, don't let the devil ride. Don't let the devil ride because he's going to want to drive. See, that's what happens. You let him in the car then, now he's going to want to drive. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:05:55]: Before you know it, you hijacked already. You know, it takes a step by step, right? So like I said, the snake, you know, represents the devil. So that's what happened. They had the choice. They made a choice. The first Adam made his choice, right? To trust themselves, not to trust God. Does that sound familiar to anybody? You trust yourself. You trust your own instincts today. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:06:20]: You know how many times in a day I'll be like, no, I think I got this. I know which way to go. And then the outcome, not so great. When I'm prayed up, when we talk about stuff, my wife and I say, let's take it to prayer things. Actually, believe it or not, not every time. Maybe not 100%, but mostly it's a smoother road, right? Can I give the example of my car? It didn't look good, okay? I got towed. My car got towed away the other day and it didn't look good. Okay, we did not realize that there was some tickets, these yellow things on my car because it's facing the other way. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:06:59]: And then one day it's gone, okay? Now I got to get to school and I'm late already. So I called this one night before. The guy says, you got to come here between 8 and 5, pick it up, okay? So between 8 and 5, we pray. Oh, Lord God, my car doesn't go in reverse. Got flat tire, battery don't work. Lord, you don't want to start this car, Lord. So we went, talked to the people. The guy I talked to, he said, oh, I got a pump. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:07:29]: I can pump you up. I got a jumper. Really? Okay. But when I get to the building and I talk to them, we don't do that. You're lucky we could. This one lady at the window, I don't know if you were listening, but, you know, thank you for your help anyway. You know, long story short, the guy was true to his word. He's the one who came, took me to my car, and it didn't look good. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:07:53]: It was in all this dirt place. And flat tire, no battery, doesn't go in reverse. So here we are. We push my car. Oh, Lord. And then we pushed my car out of the parking lot. And then he jumps. Jump starts it. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:08:08]: Try it. And it started. That's the beautiful sound that you hear when you have a dead battery. Oh, yes, Lord. I got some, you know, battery life. He pumps my tire up. It's filled. You know, I just hear one word. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:08:23]: Get out of Dodge. Get out of there. You know, pay the money. I'm out. Thank you. So that's all. Needless to say, I think it wouldn't have been so smooth if it wasn't prayer. And prayer also calmed my spirit, you know, So I went in with the right attitude. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:08:37]: And needless to say, I just want to remind everybody to pray. Okay, second garden. We got to look at this one. Garden is tough. This is a tough one. This is where Jesus went to pray, you know, after the Last Supper, his last time in Jerusalem, he's gonna go and go to the cross and do what he has to do. But before that, he goes to the garden and prays. He goes with his guys, but his guys fell asleep. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:09:02]: I probably would have fell asleep, too. A lot of action happening around that time. But this is where they say Jesus prayed so hard, he sweat drops of blood. Okay? Then this. He did all this for us. Okay? This is the crux of the gospel here. And he knows what lays before him. And he had times with God the Father. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:09:22]: He was always checking with the Father. People would ask him, when, you know, when is the time coming, when the end of the world. Only the Father knows. Only the Father knows. Now, he was God himself, but he always would check. I think he did this to give us a model. Always check with the Father. So he did this again. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:09:40]: He Knew his assignment was clear. Things are lining up in Jerusalem, you know, between the Jews and the Romans in politics was pointing to this time when the guards were going to come and take him away. But he prayed one last time. Matthew 26:30, 39 NIV version going a little further, Jesus fell to his face on the ground and prayed, my Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. This cup meaning what he had to do on the cross. Yet not as I will, but your will, but as you will. Okay, he's submitting right there. He's submission to God. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:10:19]: So the Father was always there, and the Father is always with us. And sometimes there are going to be things that are hard to do. God's going to. You'll see something lying before you. I don't know if I can walk through this, Lord, if there's any other way, take it from me. Sometimes, you know, I don't know if it was the silence or what, but, you know, obviously Jesus knew what he had to do and he was obedient. And I think that's my next point is be obedient to. When you hear God telling you something or prompting you, just do it. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:10:49]: Jesus trusted the Father and through Jesus life, you know, his death gave us life, right? There's another scripture in John. He says, and it's about something has to die so something can live. Okay? Not us. We didn't have to die eternal death. Jesus paid his death so we could live for eternity. It says, I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many kernels, many plentiful harvests. So when Jesus died, you know, it allowed us to spread the gospel and take on the work after he's gone, right? He sent us the. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:11:34]: The helper, the Holy Spirit. And that's where we are today. We see these two gardens. The first Adam they call Adam. The first Adam they call Jesus. The second Adam fixed it, rectified it, right? One made mistakes. The other one said, not my will, but yours be done. And that's kind of what I wanted to share tonight. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:11:56]: And just to encourage us, even if it looks hard and whatever God says, sometimes God will say, go this way, go that way. Just be obedient and don't listen to the devil, right? That's my two main points on this message. You know, Adam and Eve trusted their own intellect, wanted to be like God. And one day, you know, who knows what's going to happen? We'll be with God Face to face. Right? How we can choose obedience to the Father. Well, of course, you know, living a good life is our decisions. And how we make our decisions was given a long time ago from Moses. Right? We have the top 10, right? The top 10. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:12:37]: Not suggestions. There's commandments, right? You know, no other gods before us, right. Do not bow down to any other gods. Don't use the name of the Lord in vain. Keep the Sabbath day holy. Honor your father and mother. So once we follow all these instructions, our life can be really, really good. Not perfect life, but we can stay out of trouble and, you know, don't kill nobody, right? No murder, no adultery, no stealing, no false witness, no coveting the neighbors things, you know, let's not forget who we are. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:13:13]: You know, God says we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. Right? God's special possession. That's in 1st Peter 2, 9. So that's my message. I hope you gained something from it. You can replay it if you want. And if you miss something again, text in your prayer request. We love to pray with you. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:13:34]: Text in praise. Report also to 808-793-5655. Okay, text it in. What we're gonna do now is break out into small groups or just on your own. Lift up the fact that you know, you want to lift up some prayer. Some prayer points, if we have those on the screen, it'll probably pop up in a little bit. Thank God for his faithfulness. Praise God for his goodness and provision over the years. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:14:02]: Pray to lay down our pride. And you know, that comes like what Adam and Eve were doing. Hmm. Listen to this snake. He sounds like he knows what he's doing. No, I don't think so. Don't listen to the snake. Don't listen to bad ideas, right? Pray to obey, even if it's hard. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:14:19]: And I've been in those situations. You know, this is what we need to happen, Lord. But he's saying, you know, you know, we have to defer your will be done, Lord. And then pray for the cares of your heart, whatever is going on in your heart today. And this is the time we want to just put it aside and contend for these things. And then we're going to get back and we're going to do corporate prayer. Okay? So we'll come back about seven now. 7:50. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:14:45]: And then we're going to do corporate prayer. Okay? God bless as you pray. Have a good time. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:43:11]: Everybody, for praying. If you're still praying, if you're Middle of prayer continue on. But we want to close now in a corporate word of prayer. So if you could join me corporately. Now, let's come together. Father God, we thank you for continually walking with us, Lord, just like you did back in the Garden of Eden, Lord God, when you said you walked with Adam in the cool of the day, Lord God. And we love the fact that we can talk to you, we can walk with you, we can talk with you. You allow us to just have that relationship with you, Lord God, we're so grateful. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:43:44]: It's such a blessing to know that the creator of the universe can spend time to talk with us, Lord God, and hear our prayers. Thank you for allowing us to hear your voice, Lord. Speak so we can hear, Lord, because your servants are listening. Allow us to say that we are listening to you, Father God. We're listening for your voice, for your instruction, Lord, which way we should go, which way we should walk. You said, Lord God, that you never leave us or forsake us, Lord. So we're just grateful for that. And we are here not to give voice to the devil and his lies and whispers, Lord, but to remember your instruction that you gave us in your word, Lord. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:44:23]: Hallelujah. We want to listen to your voice, Lord, and not the voice of any other in Jesus name. And we want to look to you, Lord, as our model of obedience, Lord, you went all the way to the cross in obedience, Lord, because you knew that's what it would take to pay the price, Lord God, in the garden when you were sweating the drops of blood, you were thinking of us, Lord God. You sacrificed us. You knew that you had to die so we could live, Lord God. And you beat death, Lord God. You rose from the dead three days after and you are reigning and ruling up in the heavens, Lord God. Nobody else can say that. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:45:05]: So you are the one, the almighty one. We just praise you, God, and we thank you for that. And with the gift that you said, one day we'll be with you in heaven, Lord God, thank you for praying for us in the garden, Lord God. Teach us to obey quickly, Lord God. To obey not to have delayed obedience, Lord, but to have prompt obedience when we hear your word saying this is the way we should go to walk in it, Lord God, allow us to remember your faithfulness. You are always faithful and true, Lord God. And just like the sun rises every day, Lord God, you are faithful, Lord God, we love that song. In the midst of the storms, through the wind and the rain, you are faithful, Lord God. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:45:50]: And we had Waves. But you said calm down, Waves. You're not going to do anything in Hawaii. Hallelujah. And you calm the waters, Lord. Calm the earth that is shaking right now. We know it's written in your word, Lord. We have birth pains before you come back, Lord God. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:46:10]: So allow us to read your word and not be fearful, not be shaken, Lord God, when the earth shakes, we will not shake because we know you are the great. I am, Lord God. You are the one who causes the world to shake, Lord God, you have a plan for us, Lord God. You have a plan for this world, for the beginning of the world and the end of the world. You hold it all in your hand, Lord God. We just feel grateful for that, Lord God. You're the mountain mover, Lord God. You're the. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:46:39]: The storm chaser, Lord God. The storm. The storm stopper, Lord God. The wave stopper, Lord God. So we just thank you for being so strong and so mighty. And above all, Lord God, we lift up our loved ones too, Lord God. At this time, Lord, the the fallen nature of man, Lord. We have these bodies that we have to contend with, Lord. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:47:02]: With that get sick sometimes get. Get various things going on in our bodies. But you are over it. And you are the creator, you are the almighty and you are the healer, Lord God. So we just pray we lift up our sister, Lord to have a good report on the mammogram. No little spot is going to get in the way, Lord. We speak to that spot to get off, get out, out of her body, Lord God. And have a great, a clean bill of health, Lord God. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:47:27]: From a mammogram coming up on Friday, Lord in Jesus name, we thank you for the healing, Lord. For people who are recovering from surgeries, Lord. Let them have a quick and pain free recovery, Lord God. Even just take away the pain, Lord God. Supernatural the little ones who are coming back to stability. We thank you for them coming back to stability, Lord. And everyone who is becoming sick and afflicted with things. We speak to those sicknesses in Jesus name. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:47:58]: We pray healing and peace and comfort for them, Lord God as they heal. And some Lord God putting in a prayer request for a peaceful. If it's a. It's a healing on this side of the this side of heaven or the healing, the ultimate healing from to the other side to eternity. We pray for a peaceful gentle passing of our friend's mom that is pretty much ready to see you, Lord. Let it be joyous celebration when she. She gets there, Lord, up in heaven, Lord God. And we just Pray for our brother that he stays strong, Lord, during this time we speak over leukemia, which is. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:48:40]: You are bigger and stronger than leukemia, Lord God. You can, you can defeat that. Over autism, Lord God. Over tendonitis, Lord. Whatever is afflicting people's bodies, Lord, just revive them and renew them, refresh them, Lord God. We pray, Lord, in the spirit of reconciliation, Lord, those who have things against their brothers or sisters, Lord, allow us to remember to number our days. We don't have days to just throw away. We don't know how many sunsets we have left, Lord God. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:49:12]: So let us not waste time, you know, fussing and fighting with one another. Bring reconciliation. Husbands and wives, wives and children, husbands and children, brothers and sisters, friends that used to be friends. No such thing as frenemies, Lord God. We have to reconcile. Somebody has to reach their hand out and have peace, Lord, with one another. So we pray for reconciliation over folks. We pray for finances, Lord, that you are the God, the provider, Lord God. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:49:43]: One of your names is the God, the provider, Lord God. So we just pray. Open the doors that will be for provision, Lord God. For good income, for a good stability in income. Raise the income, Lord God. For our friend who's. And thank you that he's. He's working hard, Lord God. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:50:02]: He's looking for jobs. He's. He's doing his part, Lord God. And we just thank youk for those who are not slothful but industrious, Lord God, who moves and. And knows and trying to be entrepreneurial and make things happen, Lord God. We just applaud that, Lord. And we ask favor upon our brother, Lord God. Well, we thank you. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:50:21]: We give you praise report, Lord God, for the. The doors that are open to our brother, Lord, who another brother who has a job now, Praise God, has a, has a good source of income. And we just thank you for that. We thank you for everybody, Lord God. And yes, Lord, we just want to lift up all these prayer requests to you, Lord God. And you know them all and you know them by name, Lord, without us even having to say. And I'm just going to read some more. Hallelujah. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:50:53]: And you can pray as you will. Another one is our friends. Oh yeah. Update is good. Let's see good reports, Lord God. So we thank you that we have good health reports coming back, Lord God, with good results. And yes, Lord, we just pray continually that you just watch over us, continue to allow us to be strong and healthy so we can better serve you, Lord. Thank you for everything you provide for us. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:51:27]: We pray for our 21 days of prayer that we can launch into this and hold fast and stand strong, Lord, against the enemy and to just contend for what we are contending for. To lift up and allow us to make goals. What are we looking for? What are we asking you for, Lord God? Allow us to have that clear. Let us make prayer journals, Lord God and just do all the things that we can that at the end of 21 days we feel refreshed and ready to take on the last the next half of this year. We just thank you for all our days, Lord God. And we pray for a mighty weekend gathering, Lord God in New Hope, Kapolei and all the churches, Lord God in our island and across the world, Lord. People lifting up your name, Lord God. We're not ashamed of the gospel, Lord. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:52:14]: It's the power, Lord God. You have the power, Lord God. So unto salvation. And so we just lift up our weekend gathering for people to just find ohana, find connection, Lord God. And find the way, the truth and the life through the worship, through the word and through fellowship, Lord God. Breaking of bread and hearing your word, Lord God. And we just pray for a great gathering coming up and also a great anniversary for our church, Lord. But that's it. Pastor Jeff Pagay [00:52:44]: I want to thank you God in Jesus name and everybody say a good amen. Amen. Thank you God. So that's it for our second day of 21 days of prayer. Come back tomorrow night, we'll have another word from the Bible and some worship and fellowship. So God bless you all until we meet again. Take care. Bye bye.
