Welcome to the Lightly Salted Podcast. These are the readings and sermons of St. John's Lutheran Church of Park Rapids, Minnesota. They are offered so that the Word of God would shape and strengthen you to be what He calls you to be, salt and light.

You can find us at stjohnspr.org. Now, on to the Word.

The Old Testament reading for this, The Healing of the Blind Man, is from the prophet Isaiah, the 35th chapter. The promise that God will come and save you. And part of the demonstration of His coming to save are the miracles of things like opening the eyes of the blind.

Say to those who have an anxious heart, be strong. Fear not. Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you.

Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped.

Then shall the lame man leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute sing for joy.

15
00:01:10,000 --> 00:01:14,000
For waters break forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert.

16
00:01:14,000 --> 00:01:22,500
The burning sand shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water in the haunt of jackals where they lie down.

17
00:01:22,500 --> 00:01:29,000
The grass shall become reeds and rushes, and a highway shall be there.

18
00:01:29,000 --> 00:01:31,700
And it shall be called the way of holiness.

19
00:01:31,700 --> 00:01:34,100
The unclean shall not pass over it.

20
00:01:34,100 --> 00:01:36,500
It shall belong to those who walk on the way.

21
00:01:36,500 --> 00:01:40,000
Even if they are fools, they shall not go astray.

22
00:01:40,000 --> 00:01:44,000
No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast come upon it.

23
00:01:44,000 --> 00:01:49,000
They shall not be found there, but the redeemed shall walk there.

24
00:01:49,000 --> 00:01:53,000
And the ransom of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing.

25
00:01:53,000 --> 00:01:55,500
Everlasting joy will be upon their heads.

26
00:01:55,500 --> 00:02:03,300
They shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

27
00:02:03,300 --> 00:02:06,100
This is the word of the Lord.

28
00:02:06,100 --> 00:02:08,500
Thanks be to God.

29
00:02:08,500 --> 00:02:16,700
Our epistle reading is recorded for us in Paul's second letter to the Corinthians, the fifth chapter.

30
00:02:16,700 --> 00:02:20,500
So we are always of good courage.

31
00:02:20,500 --> 00:02:25,300
We know that while we are at home in the body, we are away from the Lord.

32
00:02:25,300 --> 00:02:29,300
For we walk by faith, not by sight.

33
00:02:29,300 --> 00:02:35,200
Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

34
00:02:35,200 --> 00:02:42,600
So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please Him.

35
00:02:42,600 --> 00:02:45,700
This too is the word of the Lord.

36
00:02:45,700 --> 00:02:54,600
Thanks be to God.

37
00:02:54,600 --> 00:03:03,500
I invite the congregation to please stand for the reading of the Gospel.

38
00:03:03,500 --> 00:03:08,700
The Gospel is recorded for us in the Gospel of Saint John, the ninth chapter.

39
00:03:08,700 --> 00:03:15,600
The story of the healing of the man born blind actually takes up the entire chapter of John 9.

40
00:03:15,600 --> 00:03:17,900
We are going to only read portions of it.

41
00:03:17,900 --> 00:03:21,900
We are going to read the first part and then we are going to read the end.

42
00:03:21,900 --> 00:03:29,500
And I will just give you a little summary of the missing portions, which is going to be a big part of the sermon.

43
00:03:29,500 --> 00:03:36,400
As Jesus passed by, he saw a man born blind from birth.

44
00:03:36,400 --> 00:03:46,100
And his disciples asked him, Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?

45
00:03:46,100 --> 00:03:53,600
Jesus answered it was not that this man sinned or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him.

46
00:03:53,600 --> 00:04:00,000
We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day, night is coming when no one can work.

47
00:04:00,000 --> 00:04:04,600
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

48
00:04:04,600 --> 00:04:10,700
Having said these things, he spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva.

49
00:04:10,700 --> 00:04:14,100
Then he anointed the man's eyes with the mud and he said to him,

50
00:04:14,100 --> 00:04:25,400
Go wash in the pool of Shalom, which means sent. So he went and washed and came back seeing.

51
00:04:25,400 --> 00:04:30,700
The next encounter is with neighbors and others is how it is described in the Scriptures.

52
00:04:30,700 --> 00:04:37,700
Not recognizing this young man or this man and asking him questions about his healing.

53
00:04:37,700 --> 00:04:52,400
Then they turn him over to the religious leaders who also inquire about the healing and who actually call his parents in to give testimony in what can only be considered a trial.

54
00:04:52,400 --> 00:04:59,000
And then we pick up and then they go at it a second time and that's where we pick up our reading again.

55
00:04:59,000 --> 00:05:06,400
So for the second time, the Pharisees called the man who had been born blind and said to him, give glory to God.

56
00:05:06,400 --> 00:05:10,100
We know this man is a sinner.

57
00:05:10,100 --> 00:05:14,000
He answered, whether he is a sinner, I do not know.

58
00:05:14,000 --> 00:05:20,600
One thing I do know that though I was blind, now I see.

59
00:05:20,600 --> 00:05:24,800
They said to him, what did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?

60
00:05:24,800 --> 00:05:29,200
He answered them, I have already told you and you would not listen.

61
00:05:29,200 --> 00:05:31,500
Why do you want to hear it again?

62
00:05:31,500 --> 00:05:41,900
Do you also want to become his disciples and they reviled him saying you are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.

63
00:05:41,900 --> 00:05:49,800
We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this man, we do not know where he comes from.

64
00:05:49,800 --> 00:05:52,200
The man answered, why?

65
00:05:52,200 --> 00:05:54,500
This is an amazing thing.

66
00:05:54,500 --> 00:05:59,400
You do not know where he comes from and yet he opened my eyes.

67
00:05:59,400 --> 00:06:07,000
We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him.

68
00:06:07,000 --> 00:06:15,500
Never, since the world began, has it been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a man born blind?

69
00:06:15,500 --> 00:06:21,800
If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.

70
00:06:21,800 --> 00:06:28,600
They answered him, you were born in utter sin and would you teach us?

71
00:06:28,600 --> 00:06:32,100
And they cast him out.

72
00:06:32,100 --> 00:06:41,500
Jesus heard that they had cast him out and having found him, he said, do you believe in the Son of Man?

73
00:06:41,500 --> 00:06:47,400
He answered, and who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?

74
00:06:47,400 --> 00:06:54,400
Jesus said to him, you have seen him and it is he who is speaking to you.

75
00:06:54,400 --> 00:07:02,000
He said, Lord, I believe, and he worshiped him.

76
00:07:02,000 --> 00:07:05,100
This too is the word of the Lord.

77
00:07:05,100 --> 00:07:08,100
Thanks be to God.

78
00:07:08,100 --> 00:07:13,300
Grace to you in peace from God our Father and from our Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ.

79
00:07:13,300 --> 00:07:15,100
Amen.

80
00:07:15,100 --> 00:07:24,300
This story of the man that Jesus healed from blindness is actually one of the longest narratives that we have in the Gospels.

81
00:07:24,300 --> 00:07:33,900
But it's interesting that this man's physical blindness introduces us to the spiritual blindness of the disciples,

82
00:07:33,900 --> 00:07:41,200
the religious leaders, and most especially of us.

83
00:07:41,200 --> 00:07:48,700
So the story starts with those who can see and yet in their sight are blind.

84
00:07:48,700 --> 00:07:50,700
The disciples.

85
00:07:50,700 --> 00:07:58,300
The disciples after having seen so many miracles don't see this man's need.

86
00:07:58,300 --> 00:08:05,600
Their focus is on a theological debate, on sin and its consequences.

87
00:08:05,600 --> 00:08:09,100
And listen to the judgment they render.

88
00:08:09,100 --> 00:08:18,300
Rabbi, who sinned this man or his parents that he was born blind?

89
00:08:18,300 --> 00:08:21,700
Wow, that's it.

90
00:08:21,700 --> 00:08:23,700
One of two options.

91
00:08:23,700 --> 00:08:29,400
Either this man sinned or his parents did.

92
00:08:29,400 --> 00:08:32,400
Well, you know, it's not just them.

93
00:08:32,400 --> 00:08:41,100
Most of us operate with a knee jerk reaction that well, you know, good people get rewarded and bad people get punished and,

94
00:08:41,100 --> 00:08:48,900
oh, wow, born blind, you must have done something really bad there.

95
00:08:48,900 --> 00:08:52,000
And it's not just medical ailments.

96
00:08:52,000 --> 00:08:58,800
We are more than willing to make critical judgments about others and their struggles in their lives.

97
00:08:58,800 --> 00:09:01,800
We think we have this grand insight.

98
00:09:01,800 --> 00:09:11,000
If only they would do this or if only they would do that, if things would have turned out so much better.

99
00:09:11,000 --> 00:09:20,400
But Jesus sees this moment of encounter with a person in blindness, not as an occasion for judgment,

100
00:09:20,400 --> 00:09:28,200
but as an occasion for shining God's amazing grace upon those in the darkness.

101
00:09:28,200 --> 00:09:32,600
The blind man here doesn't even ask for this grace that Jesus gives,

102
00:09:32,600 --> 00:09:36,200
but he does clearly become the beneficiary of that grace.

103
00:09:36,200 --> 00:09:47,800
And as his story progresses, he will see how this moment of encounter links him with Christ's promises forever.

104
00:09:47,800 --> 00:09:51,600
I am the man.

105
00:09:51,600 --> 00:09:55,100
This is the part of the story we didn't read.

106
00:09:55,100 --> 00:10:01,100
The blind man's first confession is to make public that it is indeed him.

107
00:10:01,100 --> 00:10:06,400
The same blind beggar sits on the street.

108
00:10:06,400 --> 00:10:15,100
Neighbors and those who passed by him day after day had trouble recognizing him.

109
00:10:15,100 --> 00:10:23,600
I'm willing to bet that most likely it was an issue of never having ever really looked at him.

110
00:10:23,600 --> 00:10:30,600
They saw his begging, never took time to see him.

111
00:10:30,600 --> 00:10:36,000
Their lives were impacted by his only by noticing,

112
00:10:36,000 --> 00:10:42,800
certainly not by caring and certainly not by calling out demonstrations of mercy.

113
00:10:42,800 --> 00:10:52,900
Again, not that we're like that at all, you know, writing people off without showing mercy,

114
00:10:52,900 --> 00:10:57,600
categorizing people, us and them.

115
00:10:57,600 --> 00:11:09,300
Not like we would ever divide people into those who deserve our attention and all the rest of them will just pass by.

116
00:11:09,300 --> 00:11:23,300
We fail so often to see how many others in our world are living with the same kinds of struggles and fears that haunt our own lives.

117
00:11:23,300 --> 00:11:32,900
And so often fear keeps us from demonstrating the love and mercy that Jesus calls us to.

118
00:11:32,900 --> 00:11:40,400
And even worse, oftentimes we're totally blind to this.

119
00:11:40,400 --> 00:11:48,400
And yet as Luther said on his deathbed, we are all beggars.

120
00:11:48,400 --> 00:11:58,000
And that's the mortifying truth of our own poverty and need.

121
00:11:58,000 --> 00:12:08,000
The man called Jesus made mud, spread it on my eyes and said to me to go to solemn and wash.

122
00:12:08,000 --> 00:12:14,200
Then I went and washed and received my sight.

123
00:12:14,200 --> 00:12:22,000
The man now makes his confession even more clear to those who are still blind, still walking in darkness.

124
00:12:22,000 --> 00:12:29,900
His reason for seeing from being called out of the darkness into the light is credit to this man called Jesus,

125
00:12:29,900 --> 00:12:34,900
who touches life with healing and washed away his darkness.

126
00:12:34,900 --> 00:12:38,600
They will be forever linked.

127
00:12:38,600 --> 00:12:50,300
And have you noticed how physical this healing is? Spittle, mud, anointing, a word reserved for priests and kings,

128
00:12:50,300 --> 00:12:56,700
anointing his eyes, washing.

129
00:12:56,700 --> 00:13:01,100
It's as physical as our baptisms.

130
00:13:01,100 --> 00:13:07,800
We receive this washing away of sin, of guilt, of blindness, of darkness.

131
00:13:07,800 --> 00:13:11,700
We were once walking in darkness.

132
00:13:11,700 --> 00:13:18,600
We were once walking in sin, but now we have been called to the newness of light and life in Christ.

133
00:13:18,600 --> 00:13:30,200
His grace, His mercy, His love at work in us to be shared by us with others.

134
00:13:30,200 --> 00:13:37,100
Our lives also are linked forever with Jesus.

135
00:13:37,100 --> 00:13:42,200
I do not know.

136
00:13:42,200 --> 00:13:46,800
Where is the one who healed you? He's asked.

137
00:13:46,800 --> 00:13:50,900
But here we run into this grand irony.

138
00:13:50,900 --> 00:14:00,000
Because he was sent to wash in the pool, the man had not actually seen the one who had healed him.

139
00:14:00,000 --> 00:14:10,000
So while in his case we could say, the scene is believing, he's trusting not in the restored site, but in the one who healed him.

140
00:14:10,000 --> 00:14:15,100
And he won't let go, even though things are going to get worse for him.

141
00:14:15,100 --> 00:14:23,100
Because these neighbors and others now bring him before the religious authorities.

142
00:14:23,100 --> 00:14:30,300
He put mud on my eyes, then I washed, and now I see.

143
00:14:30,300 --> 00:14:35,800
So this man who had been born blind is now brought to trial.

144
00:14:35,800 --> 00:14:44,200
When they asked for the details on how the healing takes place, the man confirmed what he had already said.

145
00:14:44,200 --> 00:14:46,600
But we come on a new detail.

146
00:14:46,600 --> 00:14:57,000
The authorities seem less concerned with the healing of this man than with the fact that this healing took place on a Sabbath.

147
00:14:57,000 --> 00:15:09,700
In fact, in their blindness, they were insisting that because this healing took place on a Sabbath, that very act made Jesus a sinner in their lives.

148
00:15:09,700 --> 00:15:18,900
And yet others, others are asking this question, how can a man who is a sinner do such signs?

149
00:15:18,900 --> 00:15:26,700
It's interesting to see how this man's testimony, as brief as it is, leads to a division of the house.

150
00:15:26,700 --> 00:15:31,200
This division is not the result of the act of the man or of his healing.

151
00:15:31,200 --> 00:15:35,800
What they were divided about was Jesus himself.

152
00:15:35,800 --> 00:15:43,800
Whether he really could be the Messiah, an agent of God's grace, or whether he was just a wretched sinner.

153
00:15:43,800 --> 00:15:46,900
And indeed, then they pressed this man to witness to his faith.

154
00:15:46,900 --> 00:15:51,300
What do you say about him since he has opened your eyes?

155
00:15:51,300 --> 00:15:53,400
He is a prophet.

156
00:15:53,400 --> 00:15:56,000
Oh, a prophet.

157
00:15:56,000 --> 00:15:58,500
Well, say, he is a prophet.

158
00:15:58,500 --> 00:16:01,600
Hardly a bold confession of faith.

159
00:16:01,600 --> 00:16:05,700
There are already many people affirming that.

160
00:16:05,700 --> 00:16:16,200
But as this man's trial progresses, his faith deepens and he becomes bolder in his confession.

161
00:16:16,200 --> 00:16:26,000
But for a moment now, the trial actually turns to the words of this man called to testify.

162
00:16:26,000 --> 00:16:31,700
They ask him, is this your son who you say was born blind?

163
00:16:31,700 --> 00:16:37,700
How then does he now see?

164
00:16:37,700 --> 00:16:46,400
The parents have neither the courage nor the faith of their son to face this time of trial.

165
00:16:46,400 --> 00:16:49,400
They won't even affirm their son's testimony.

166
00:16:49,400 --> 00:16:54,500
I mean, you can practically hear the thumps of the tires rolling over their son

167
00:16:54,500 --> 00:16:56,500
as they throw him under the bus.

168
00:16:56,500 --> 00:16:59,300
Ask him, he's of age.

169
00:16:59,300 --> 00:17:03,900
He will speak for himself.

170
00:17:03,900 --> 00:17:08,200
And John tells us that his parents were living in fear.

171
00:17:08,200 --> 00:17:14,600
They were living in fear because the authorities had already decided that anyone

172
00:17:14,600 --> 00:17:20,500
who even hinted that Jesus might be the Messiah, the Christ, would be put out of the synagogue.

173
00:17:20,500 --> 00:17:25,500
And if you are cast out of the synagogue, your social life became a scandal.

174
00:17:25,500 --> 00:17:31,800
And who wants the word scandal attached to their life?

175
00:17:31,800 --> 00:17:35,800
I actually will find the answer to that question relatively soon.

176
00:17:35,800 --> 00:17:42,000
Even as the authorities again call the man who had been born blind to testify a second time,

177
00:17:42,000 --> 00:17:44,800
they say, give glory to God.

178
00:17:44,800 --> 00:17:47,900
We know this man is a sinner.

179
00:17:47,900 --> 00:17:50,500
I do not know whether he's a sinner.

180
00:17:50,500 --> 00:17:58,700
One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.

181
00:17:58,700 --> 00:18:03,100
Notice how the scandal has essentially flipped on its head.

182
00:18:03,100 --> 00:18:07,400
The man does not denounce the scandal of his own life.

183
00:18:07,400 --> 00:18:10,200
He had been born blind.

184
00:18:10,200 --> 00:18:14,700
But he adds, now I see.

185
00:18:14,700 --> 00:18:19,800
He will not put any distance between himself and Jesus,

186
00:18:19,800 --> 00:18:27,900
even if the religious authorities are considering Jesus a scandalous sinner.

187
00:18:27,900 --> 00:18:33,400
And in fact, the cross is referred to as a scandal.

188
00:18:33,400 --> 00:18:42,700
It's referred to a scandal especially for those who are too blind to see the merits for our good.

189
00:18:42,700 --> 00:18:49,600
But Jesus accepts the curse of his death on a cross in order to heal our lives.

190
00:18:49,600 --> 00:18:56,900
Jesus accepts the curse of death on a cross in order to heal those of us who are blind in our sins

191
00:18:56,900 --> 00:19:00,500
and give us his grace.

192
00:19:00,500 --> 00:19:11,100
Jesus and the man, even in the scandal, are forever linked.

193
00:19:11,100 --> 00:19:14,700
The blind authorities cannot understand.

194
00:19:14,700 --> 00:19:20,100
They thrash about in their darkness repeating the question the man had already answered earlier.

195
00:19:20,100 --> 00:19:21,700
What did he do to you?

196
00:19:21,700 --> 00:19:24,800
How did he open your eyes?

197
00:19:24,800 --> 00:19:29,100
I have told you already and you would not listen.

198
00:19:29,100 --> 00:19:31,800
Why do you want to hear it again?

199
00:19:31,800 --> 00:19:36,500
Do you also want to become his disciples?

200
00:19:36,500 --> 00:19:42,400
Now this confession puts the authorities on the stand.

201
00:19:42,400 --> 00:19:45,500
You guys testify to your source.

202
00:19:45,500 --> 00:19:47,900
What's your grounding?

203
00:19:47,900 --> 00:19:49,800
And so they do.

204
00:19:49,800 --> 00:19:55,300
You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.

205
00:19:55,300 --> 00:20:03,100
We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this man, we do not know where he comes from.

206
00:20:03,100 --> 00:20:05,500
Here's an astonishing thing.

207
00:20:05,500 --> 00:20:11,500
You do not know where he comes from and yet he opened my eyes.

208
00:20:11,500 --> 00:20:19,700
We know that God does not listen to sinners, but he does listen to one who worships him and obeys his will.

209
00:20:19,700 --> 00:20:28,200
Never since the world began has it been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a person born blind.

210
00:20:28,200 --> 00:20:33,700
If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.

211
00:20:33,700 --> 00:20:38,500
The boldness of this man will now not be silenced.

212
00:20:38,500 --> 00:20:43,100
And his answer is too good to go unspoken.

213
00:20:43,100 --> 00:20:48,900
The man who has regained his sight, his faith shines bright in this moment.

214
00:20:48,900 --> 00:20:56,900
And he stands on the solid ground of God's grace in Jesus, the Messiah, the Christ.

215
00:20:56,900 --> 00:21:03,700
Even as he gives witness one last time before these authorities.

216
00:21:03,700 --> 00:21:08,600
But these blind authorities cannot see the light of his answer.

217
00:21:08,600 --> 00:21:15,100
Instead, they again denounce him just as they would denounce Jesus.

218
00:21:15,100 --> 00:21:19,300
Their final judgment, you were born in utter sin.

219
00:21:19,300 --> 00:21:22,100
Would you teach us?

220
00:21:22,100 --> 00:21:27,800
And they cast him out.

221
00:21:27,800 --> 00:21:33,200
But even in being cast out, the man is forever linked with Jesus.

222
00:21:33,200 --> 00:21:39,500
This trial was really not about this man, it was about Jesus and his amazing grace.

223
00:21:39,500 --> 00:21:42,600
And that grace holds this man firm.

224
00:21:42,600 --> 00:21:48,100
Jesus will be with him always, not in just this moment, but all the moments of life.

225
00:21:48,100 --> 00:21:53,900
And in his grace, Jesus secretly seeks him out again.

226
00:21:53,900 --> 00:21:56,300
Do you believe in the Son of Man?

227
00:21:56,300 --> 00:21:58,300
And who is he, sir?

228
00:21:58,300 --> 00:22:02,300
Tell me, so that I may believe in him.

229
00:22:02,300 --> 00:22:08,500
You have seen him, and it is he who is speaking to you.

230
00:22:08,500 --> 00:22:16,100
Now, this blind man's sight is now fully his faith.

231
00:22:16,100 --> 00:22:20,400
Lord, I believe.

232
00:22:20,400 --> 00:22:25,000
Lord, I believe.

233
00:22:25,000 --> 00:22:32,400
Lord, you have brought me from blind beggar to one healed by your grace.

234
00:22:32,400 --> 00:22:38,100
Lord, you have given me courage to stand up and witness to your grace.

235
00:22:38,100 --> 00:22:48,900
Lord, you have comforted me even when others cast me aside and deny me, you're still with me.

236
00:22:48,900 --> 00:23:03,900
Lord, you have freed me now to stand with all who are cast aside, cast aside by a world blinded in sin and fear.

237
00:23:03,900 --> 00:23:08,300
There was a little more to the story that we didn't read.

238
00:23:08,300 --> 00:23:16,200
Jesus said, I came into this world for judgment, that those who do not see may see,

239
00:23:16,200 --> 00:23:22,300
and those who do see may become blind.

240
00:23:22,300 --> 00:23:30,000
The critical, law-driven authorities thought of themselves far more nobly than they should.

241
00:23:30,000 --> 00:23:37,500
They responded, Jesus, surely we are not blind, are we?

242
00:23:37,500 --> 00:23:44,000
But Jesus responds, if you were blind, you would not have sinned.

243
00:23:44,000 --> 00:23:52,700
But now that you say we see, your sin remains.

244
00:23:52,700 --> 00:23:55,200
And so it is.

245
00:23:55,200 --> 00:24:09,600
So it is whenever we refuse to confess our sin, whenever we refuse to see our beggarly need.

246
00:24:09,600 --> 00:24:16,000
Lent is a time for us to confess the truth of our blindness and our fear.

247
00:24:16,000 --> 00:24:22,700
And all the number of times it has stopped us from being God's agents of grace and mercy

248
00:24:22,700 --> 00:24:28,900
to so many people who are in need.

249
00:24:28,900 --> 00:24:34,700
But Lent is also a time for us to confess the grace that we have indeed received in Jesus.

250
00:24:34,700 --> 00:24:41,600
Grace, which has continually poured out in us and on us for our forgiveness.

251
00:24:41,600 --> 00:24:45,800
Grace, which continually fills us with mercy.

252
00:24:45,800 --> 00:24:53,400
Grace, which overcomes our fears and strengthens us to face any and all obstacles.

253
00:24:53,400 --> 00:25:00,500
Grace, by which our lives are forever linked with Jesus.

254
00:25:00,500 --> 00:25:09,800
So with the blind man, we too say, I was blind, and now I see.

255
00:25:09,800 --> 00:25:17,300
Darkness gives way to Christ's own magnificent light.

256
00:25:17,300 --> 00:25:20,800
Amen.

257
00:25:20,800 --> 00:25:23,200
Thanks for listening to Lightly Salted.

258
00:25:23,200 --> 00:25:25,100
We'd love to hear from you.

00:25:32,000 --> 00:25:36,600
Our thanks to Eric Medias at soundimage.org for morning dew.

261
00:25:36,600 --> 00:25:41,600
