And then you also 00:01:27.959 --> 00:01:29.719 look forward. And I was looking back a little 00:01:29.719 --> 00:01:32.099 bit and I was thinking about LifeHouse. And in 00:01:32.099 --> 00:01:36.060 2007, I was on staff at a church just up the 00:01:36.060 --> 00:01:38.609 road here in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. And I was 00:01:38.609 --> 00:01:40.469 the children and youth pastor. That was many 00:01:40.469 --> 00:01:43.230 years ago, right? I was the children and youth 00:01:43.230 --> 00:01:45.870 pastor there. I was over all the student ministries. 00:01:46.109 --> 00:01:48.730 And I was looking back, and I was thinking about 00:01:48.730 --> 00:01:51.090 some of the little things that took place in 00:01:51.090 --> 00:01:55.890 our life. And I began this journey about three 00:01:55.890 --> 00:01:58.189 years in. We stayed there just about four years. 00:01:58.349 --> 00:02:01.230 But about three years in, I remember this little 00:02:01.230 --> 00:02:03.549 thing happening in my life. I heard about this 00:02:03.549 --> 00:02:07.799 thing called church planting. And while God was 00:02:07.799 --> 00:02:10.539 stirring in my heart at the same time, I started 00:02:10.539 --> 00:02:12.419 hearing about church planting. And I didn't really 00:02:12.419 --> 00:02:14.479 know what it was. You know, church planting is 00:02:14.479 --> 00:02:17.439 going into a new community, starting a new work 00:02:17.439 --> 00:02:19.979 there, a new church there. But this thing started 00:02:19.979 --> 00:02:22.960 stirring in me. And how many don't want to hear 00:02:22.960 --> 00:02:26.259 about something you can't unhear it, right? You 00:02:26.259 --> 00:02:29.240 really can't. You cannot hear it. And this thing 00:02:29.240 --> 00:02:31.240 began to stick. I mean, you can pretend you don't 00:02:31.240 --> 00:02:32.520 know anything about it, or you can pretend it's 00:02:32.520 --> 00:02:35.580 not there, but it stuck in my spirit. And it 00:02:35.580 --> 00:02:37.419 wasn't long after that, so I started learning 00:02:37.419 --> 00:02:39.460 a little more about church planting, and I felt 00:02:39.460 --> 00:02:43.039 like my family and I were supposed to go to Carlisle 00:02:43.039 --> 00:02:46.330 and plant a church. Couldn't explain it. Just 00:02:46.330 --> 00:02:49.069 God speaking something in my spirit. I told Dixie 00:02:49.069 --> 00:02:51.090 on a particular day when I got brave enough to 00:02:51.090 --> 00:02:53.270 say it because there's no income that comes in 00:02:53.270 --> 00:02:54.810 when you plant a church. And I said, honey, I 00:02:54.810 --> 00:02:56.110 think we're supposed to start a church. And she 00:02:56.110 --> 00:03:02.490 said, no. I said, get her, Jesus. And a week 00:03:02.490 --> 00:03:04.330 later he did. She came back and said, we need 00:03:04.330 --> 00:03:06.669 to do this. This is what God's called us to do. 00:03:07.030 --> 00:03:09.629 And, you know, and it was a lot of little things 00:03:09.629 --> 00:03:12.789 that took place along the way. It was so little that my kids kind 00:03:45.860 --> 00:03:48.949 of thought some of it was kind of lame. And honestly, 00:03:49.069 --> 00:03:51.349 they weren't wrong at times, right? Pushing the 00:03:51.349 --> 00:03:53.949 furniture back in the living room and getting 00:03:53.949 --> 00:03:56.150 together and having church. And we made them 00:03:56.150 --> 00:03:57.949 get out of their PJs and dress up for church 00:03:57.949 --> 00:04:00.030 in the living room. That's the lame part, by 00:04:00.030 --> 00:04:02.969 the way. All right. But really, they were all 00:04:02.969 --> 00:04:06.310 on board. And I remember the kids coming. My 00:04:06.310 --> 00:04:08.349 children were all involved in the praise team 00:04:08.349 --> 00:04:11.870 on the tech side. And I remember coming together 00:04:11.870 --> 00:04:14.289 with just two couples. One of the couples are 00:04:14.289 --> 00:04:15.990 here today. It's a long 00:06:02.089 --> 00:06:04.329 -term drug and rehabilitation on the western 00:06:04.329 --> 00:06:07.639 side of the state called Penile. And I remember 00:06:07.639 --> 00:06:10.379 talking with them, and they spoke into Dixie 00:06:10.379 --> 00:06:12.560 and I's lives, and they said this to us. They 00:06:12.560 --> 00:06:16.220 spoke this. They said, do not despise the small 00:06:16.220 --> 00:06:18.980 beginnings. They were quoting scripture. It's 00:06:18.980 --> 00:06:22.139 from Zechariah 4 .10. For who has despised the 00:06:22.139 --> 00:06:26.980 day of small things? Small things. The little 00:06:26.980 --> 00:06:30.379 things. It's just the little things. But here's 00:06:30.379 --> 00:06:33.139 the thing. If the Lord is in the little thing, 00:06:33.180 --> 00:06:36.269 if the Lord is in the small thing, It can change 00:06:36.269 --> 00:06:39.220 everything. It really can. And I 00:06:46.100 --> 00:06:47.980 want to talk a little bit about something that 00:06:47.980 --> 00:06:50.759 if you put the little thing in God's hands, if 00:06:50.759 --> 00:06:53.000 you put it in the hands of a big God, it could 00:06:53.000 --> 00:06:55.420 change everything. And while you're turning to 00:06:55.420 --> 00:06:59.819 read, I'm going to pray. Lord, we thank you for 00:06:59.819 --> 00:07:01.339 this day. God, I thank you for each person in 00:07:01.339 --> 00:07:03.079 the house. I thank you for each person that's 00:07:03.079 --> 00:07:05.220 joining us online. It says, after these things. Now I'm 00:07:32.819 --> 00:07:34.759 going to preach for a minute. Okay. I know you're 00:07:34.759 --> 00:07:37.519 like, come on, pastor. No, I'm going to. All 00:07:37.519 --> 00:07:39.839 right. After these things, let me tell you what 00:07:39.839 --> 00:07:42.120 happens before these things, because you don't 00:07:42.120 --> 00:07:44.500 know what's happening. If we're saying after 00:07:44.500 --> 00:07:46.319 these things, what happened previous to this? 00:07:46.439 --> 00:07:49.600 Well, in John chapter five, Jesus had just healed 00:07:49.600 --> 00:07:52.300 a man. He had walked into the area of Jerusalem 00:07:52.300 --> 00:07:55.279 near the sheep gate at that time in ancient Jerusalem. 00:07:55.480 --> 00:07:57.439 He went to the pool of Bethesda where there were 00:07:57.439 --> 00:07:59.720 many, many people laying around that were sick 00:07:59.720 --> 00:08:01.779 and afflicted. And they were there because the 00:08:01.779 --> 00:08:04.019 pool would stir at times. An angel would stir 00:08:04.019 --> 00:08:06.569 it. And the first person in the pool would get 00:08:06.569 --> 00:08:10.350 healed. And Jesus walks up to a man who is there, 00:08:10.370 --> 00:08:12.269 and he's been there, he's been sick for 38 years, 00:08:12.370 --> 00:08:14.449 says, do you want to be healed? The man says 00:08:14.449 --> 00:08:16.370 yes, and he starts going into a long explanation 00:08:16.370 --> 00:08:19.209 how he can't get to the pool. Jesus heals this 00:08:19.209 --> 00:08:22.259 individual right there. And while this is taking 00:08:22.259 --> 00:08:25.139 place, the Jews in that area, some of them and 00:08:25.139 --> 00:08:27.500 some of the scribes and the Pharisees are watching 00:08:27.500 --> 00:08:30.220 this all go down. And they're watching Jesus 00:08:30.220 --> 00:08:32.600 heal this man. And they don't believe that he's 00:08:32.600 --> 00:08:34.320 a Messiah. They don't believe that he's a prophet. 00:08:34.460 --> 00:08:36.200 As a matter of fact, the word of God says that 00:08:36.200 --> 00:08:39.480 they seek to kill Jesus. They really do. Because 00:08:39.480 --> 00:08:43.820 A, Jesus broke their Sabbath law because Jesus 00:08:43.820 --> 00:08:47.059 told this man to pick up his mat and walk. And 00:08:47.059 --> 00:08:50.779 this man broke their Sabbath law. And two, because 00:08:50.779 --> 00:08:53.659 he mentioned that he was the son of God and they 00:08:53.659 --> 00:08:55.539 didn't believe it. They didn't believe that he 00:08:55.539 --> 00:08:57.639 was Messiah. They didn't believe, they did not 00:08:57.639 --> 00:08:59.559 want to hear him talking about being equal with 00:08:59.559 --> 00:09:02.360 God. And they were after him to kill him. This 00:09:02.360 --> 00:09:05.559 is what took place in John chapter five. So when 00:09:05.559 --> 00:09:08.299 you go to chapter six, it says, after these things, 00:09:08.539 --> 00:09:11.419 this is after all this. People want to kill him 00:09:11.419 --> 00:09:14.200 in Jerusalem. Jesus leaves, right? And it says, 00:09:14.279 --> 00:09:17.340 Jesus. went over to the Sea of Galilee, which 00:09:17.340 --> 00:09:20.059 is the Sea of Tiberias. Then a great multitude 00:09:20.059 --> 00:09:22.700 followed him because they saw his signs, which 00:09:22.700 --> 00:09:24.500 he had performed on those who were diseased. 00:09:24.740 --> 00:09:26.799 And Jesus went up on the mountain, and there 00:09:26.799 --> 00:09:28.960 he sat with his disciples. I want you to picture 00:09:28.960 --> 00:09:31.929 this. Jesus leaves Jerusalem. He crosses over 00:09:31.929 --> 00:09:34.389 the Sea of Galilee, which is a very small sea. 00:09:34.450 --> 00:09:36.690 It's probably like a large lake compared to what 00:09:36.690 --> 00:09:39.769 we would think is an ocean or sea. It's a large 00:09:39.769 --> 00:09:42.690 area, and people are following Jesus. Now, this 00:09:42.690 --> 00:09:44.909 is before texting. This is before social media. 00:09:45.029 --> 00:09:48.690 This is before electricity, okay? They've heard, 00:09:48.950 --> 00:09:51.870 and they're following Jesus, and they go up onto 00:09:51.870 --> 00:09:54.049 a mountainside. Can you picture it in your head? 00:09:54.639 --> 00:09:57.200 Many, many people follow him. And now the Passover, 00:09:57.360 --> 00:10:00.399 a feast of the Jews, was near. Then Jesus lifted 00:10:00.399 --> 00:10:03.879 up his eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming 00:10:03.879 --> 00:10:06.539 toward him up on the mountain, he said to Philip, 00:10:06.720 --> 00:10:09.440 Where shall we buy bread that these may eat? 00:10:09.860 --> 00:10:12.759 But this he said to test him, Philip, for he 00:10:12.759 --> 00:10:15.600 himself knew what he was about to do. One of his disciples, 00:10:48.830 --> 00:10:51.210 Andrew Simon Peter's brother, said to him, there's 00:10:51.210 --> 00:10:54.110 a lad, a boy here, who has five barley loaves 00:10:54.110 --> 00:10:57.330 and two small fish, but what are they among so 00:10:57.330 --> 00:11:00.610 many? Tell somebody it's the little things. Turn 00:11:00.610 --> 00:11:02.570 to somebody right now. Say it's the little things. 00:11:03.049 --> 00:11:04.330 It's the little things. And some of them give a little 00:11:44.240 --> 00:11:46.259 bit of different detail, like anybody that's 00:11:46.259 --> 00:11:48.480 writing, of this account. And I want to go to 00:11:48.480 --> 00:11:49.740 Matthew because there's something important you 00:11:49.740 --> 00:11:52.759 need to see. In Matthew 14, 19, it has the same 00:11:52.759 --> 00:11:54.799 account. It says, he commanded the multitudes 00:11:54.799 --> 00:11:57.690 to sit down on the grass. And he took the five 00:11:57.690 --> 00:12:00.029 loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, 00:12:00.110 --> 00:12:03.149 he blessed. and broke and gave the loaves to 00:12:03.149 --> 00:12:05.970 the disciples and the disciples gave to the multitudes. 00:12:06.110 --> 00:12:08.690 Gives a little more detail what took place. Now 00:12:08.690 --> 00:12:10.789 let's jump back into John.
