Seems like there's 00:05:27.569 --> 00:05:33.870 a lot of crisis going on. Chaos. Confusion. It 00:05:33.870 --> 00:05:39.389 seems as if the walls of this world, the safeguards 00:05:39.389 --> 00:05:46.079 are falling apart. Compromised. And at risk of 00:05:46.079 --> 00:05:49.939 collapsing. There is a need in our homes and 00:05:49.939 --> 00:05:53.819 in our communities. And in this nation for the 00:05:53.819 --> 00:05:58.860 people of God to stand tall. So that the next 00:05:58.860 --> 00:06:01.879 generation will not fall. There is a need for 00:06:01.879 --> 00:06:09.759 that. There is a breach that is occurring. A 00:06:09.759 --> 00:06:16.860 breach in the various walls of protection. There 00:06:16.860 --> 00:06:24.180 is a weakness that is happening that can lead 00:06:24.180 --> 00:06:29.279 to great damage, compromise that will lead to 00:06:29.279 --> 00:06:36.899 weakness within the walls of integrity, walls 00:06:36.899 --> 00:06:42.000 of honesty. Many of us have heard of, you know, 00:06:42.019 --> 00:06:45.360 the breach of like a dam. or the breach of a 00:06:45.360 --> 00:06:50.339 contract, or the breach of security. But in our 00:06:50.339 --> 00:06:54.220 text today, the prophet was writing and speaking 00:06:54.220 --> 00:06:58.980 metaphorically about a gap in the wall, or a 00:06:58.980 --> 00:07:02.699 breach in the wall which is not physical, but 00:07:02.699 --> 00:07:06.980 a metaphor to the spiritual condition of Israel. 00:07:08.920 --> 00:07:14.930 They had compromised themselves. Through spiritual 00:07:14.930 --> 00:07:19.250 and moral failures. They had failed to uphold 00:07:19.250 --> 00:07:26.730 God's standards. Thus, they hope in themselves 00:07:26.730 --> 00:07:30.649 to God's judgment and punishment. And this is 00:07:30.649 --> 00:07:32.750 a reminder, brothers and sisters, today that 00:07:32.750 --> 00:07:35.550 there is no doubt that there is still a consequence 00:07:35.550 --> 00:07:42.870 for sins. In Romans chapter 6 and verse 23. The 00:07:42.870 --> 00:07:45.810 Bible tells us that the wages of sin is still 00:07:45.810 --> 00:07:51.689 death, but the gift of God is eternal life. And 00:07:51.689 --> 00:07:54.430 I thank God this morning that he does not want 00:07:54.430 --> 00:07:58.769 us to stay in sin, but he has made a way for 00:07:58.769 --> 00:08:03.189 us through Jesus. In the New Living Translation 00:08:03.189 --> 00:08:06.709 in Ezekiel chapter 22 and verse 30, it says, 00:08:06.750 --> 00:08:11.120 I look for someone. who might rebuild the wall 00:08:11.120 --> 00:08:16.620 of righteousness that guards the land. It says, 00:08:16.639 --> 00:08:20.639 I searched for someone to stand in the gap in 00:08:20.639 --> 00:08:23.500 the wall so that I would not have to destroy 00:08:23.500 --> 00:08:27.459 it, but I found no one. God himself is searching. 00:08:28.639 --> 00:08:31.279 He's the one who's doing the searching. He's 00:08:31.279 --> 00:08:33.840 still searching for us. He's still searching 00:08:33.840 --> 00:08:37.320 for men and women in our nation to continue to 00:08:37.320 --> 00:08:40.990 stand for him. He's still searching for us to 00:08:40.990 --> 00:08:47.769 represent him. Verse 6 tells us in this text, 00:08:47.850 --> 00:08:52.330 in Ezekiel chapter 22, by their own choosing, 00:08:52.590 --> 00:08:58.070 they walk towards their own ways. By their own 00:08:58.070 --> 00:09:03.490 willfulness, they walk away from the truth. By 00:09:03.490 --> 00:09:08.759 their own wickedness, They walked away from the 00:09:08.759 --> 00:09:14.340 things of God. And a breach has occurred where 00:09:14.340 --> 00:09:17.340 there's an edge and now there's a gap where the 00:09:17.340 --> 00:09:20.320 enemy believes that he can have a stronghold. 00:09:21.340 --> 00:09:25.759 How did they get there? In our text, the sin 00:09:25.759 --> 00:09:30.919 of the people had gotten so bad that God began 00:09:30.919 --> 00:09:36.059 to seek for a person. A man, a woman, a youth 00:09:36.059 --> 00:09:41.519 who would intercede, who would stand in the gap. 00:09:41.720 --> 00:09:45.179 But the scripture tells us that tragically, at 00:09:45.179 --> 00:09:50.860 that moment, he could not find such a one. The 00:09:50.860 --> 00:09:55.659 prophets, in verse 25 of our text, the prophets 00:09:55.659 --> 00:10:01.789 ad became corrupt. Those who were supposed to 00:10:01.789 --> 00:10:07.350 stand for God, they spoke falsely against God. 00:10:07.809 --> 00:10:12.330 They stole from people. They separated families. 00:10:12.450 --> 00:10:15.190 They misused their authorities. Look what verse 00:10:15.190 --> 00:10:23.149 25 said in our text. It said this in verse 25, 00:10:23.350 --> 00:10:32.549 that the conspiracy. Off the prophets. The conspiracy 00:10:32.549 --> 00:10:35.929 of the prophets in her midst is like a roaring 00:10:35.929 --> 00:10:39.110 lion tearing the prey. They have devoured the 00:10:39.110 --> 00:10:42.889 people. They had taken treasures and precious 00:10:42.889 --> 00:10:45.990 things. They had made widows in their midst. 00:10:46.269 --> 00:10:49.049 In other words, they were sending off the men, 00:10:49.129 --> 00:10:52.490 even saying, hey, God has called you to war when 00:10:52.490 --> 00:10:55.090 that was. when that was not the Lord who was 00:10:55.090 --> 00:10:58.110 speaking. The prophets, they were corrupt, seeking 00:10:58.110 --> 00:11:03.070 to do things after their own ways. Then in verse 00:11:03.070 --> 00:11:08.350 26, the priests, the spiritual leaders, those 00:11:08.350 --> 00:11:13.350 who were supposed to be disciple makers, they 00:11:13.350 --> 00:11:16.789 had failed to teach the truth. They did not teach 00:11:16.789 --> 00:11:23.939 the difference between right and wrong. They, 00:11:23.939 --> 00:11:28.080 according to Isaiah 5 and verse 20, they say 00:11:28.080 --> 00:11:31.179 that what is right is wrong and what is wrong 00:11:31.179 --> 00:11:34.740 is right. That black is white and white is black. 00:11:35.019 --> 00:11:38.120 Bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter. Folks, can 00:11:38.120 --> 00:11:40.500 I tell you something? Those are the times that 00:11:40.500 --> 00:11:43.500 we find ourselves in where it's hard to distinguish 00:11:43.500 --> 00:11:47.279 right from wrong. But as a family of God, we 00:11:47.279 --> 00:11:53.889 must know that even sin is still sin. Sin now 00:11:53.889 --> 00:11:57.370 in our culture is called rights. Sin at times 00:11:57.370 --> 00:12:00.210 is called a privilege. It's called a lifestyle, 00:12:00.649 --> 00:12:03.570 alternative facts, entertainment. But whatever 00:12:03.570 --> 00:12:06.909 the world desires to consider sin, the word of 00:12:06.909 --> 00:12:13.889 God has already defined what sin is. God said, 00:12:13.929 --> 00:12:16.710 I sought for a man who would stand in the gap, 00:12:16.870 --> 00:12:22.929 but I could not find one. The whole brokenness 00:12:22.929 --> 00:12:29.250 occurred because of sin. But I thank God today 00:12:29.250 --> 00:12:33.649 that sin is defeated. Oh, thank you, Jesus. Sin 00:12:33.649 --> 00:12:35.649 is defeated because of the power of the cross. 00:12:37.190 --> 00:12:39.769 Here it is. It continues verse 27. We're talking 00:12:39.769 --> 00:12:41.129 about how they get there. Then I'm going to get 00:12:41.129 --> 00:12:45.429 to the meat of the message. Verse 27, the officials, 00:12:45.610 --> 00:12:49.529 the political figures, instead of serving others, 00:12:49.610 --> 00:12:52.309 they serve themselves. Read the text. They were 00:12:52.309 --> 00:12:56.789 dishonest. It went on in verse 29 that as a result 00:12:56.789 --> 00:12:59.610 of the prophets and the priests and the political 00:12:59.610 --> 00:13:04.389 leaders, then the people, they also turned to 00:13:04.389 --> 00:13:08.070 their own ways. Because the leaders had failed 00:13:08.070 --> 00:13:11.669 to stand for the Lord and it affected everyone 00:13:11.669 --> 00:13:14.009 that they were connected to. Can I tell you something 00:13:14.009 --> 00:13:16.929 this morning? I'll remind you of something. That 00:13:16.929 --> 00:13:22.720 how we live matters. What we do matters. How 00:13:22.720 --> 00:13:27.919 we walk matters. Because it impacts every person 00:13:27.919 --> 00:13:31.980 that we are connected with. Hear me this morning. 00:13:32.679 --> 00:13:36.980 As leaders, even in our home, men, God has designed 00:13:36.980 --> 00:13:39.740 us to continue to be the priests of our homes. 00:13:40.100 --> 00:13:44.679 He's calling us again to still stand tall so 00:13:44.679 --> 00:13:48.480 that others don't fall. How wide was this issue 00:13:48.480 --> 00:13:52.539 here? During the time of Ezekiel, it was so wide 00:13:52.539 --> 00:13:55.879 that the Bible said that God sought. He searched 00:13:55.879 --> 00:13:58.639 all over for a man, but he could not find one. 00:13:59.700 --> 00:14:03.460 There was an integrity breach. The people wanted 00:14:03.460 --> 00:14:07.440 to compromise truth, conform to culture, bend 00:14:07.440 --> 00:14:11.480 with the crowd, or blend in with the crowd. Can 00:14:11.480 --> 00:14:13.340 I tell you this morning that God did not call 00:14:13.340 --> 00:14:17.240 this the blending? But God has called us to move 00:14:17.240 --> 00:14:21.279 towards a cross. Hallelujah. There was a breach 00:14:21.279 --> 00:14:24.919 with identity. They forgot who they were in God, 00:14:25.080 --> 00:14:28.159 who God has called them to be. But I'm thankful 00:14:28.159 --> 00:14:30.580 that I'm looking at a family this morning who 00:14:30.580 --> 00:14:33.279 know who they are. Because when we know who we 00:14:33.279 --> 00:14:36.419 are in Christ Jesus, no one else can define us. 00:14:36.480 --> 00:14:39.019 Come on, somebody.
